6.0 LS swap C3 severely neglected

all right guys I don't really have anything to make a video on being uh I'm still being in jail by my federal government who won't release uh disability funds and I've discussed that on another another uh video if you watch all my videos looks like we're gaining a little traction here in my old channel so I have to make some kind of video to keep the algorithm going till I get money flowing again to by part so I thought I'd do a little overview of the old C3 Corvette so backstory on the car is I was interested in doing an LS swap on something and Camaros and C10 and and uh things like that have been done a lot you didn't see at the time I did this you didn't see a whole lot of c3s do done so that's some this one popped up on Marketplace and uh I said well I do a little research and I run across a YouTuber who uh I guess I won't mention his name I was going to but I'm not going to but uh if you mess with c3s and you own YouTube I'm sure you've run across him but he buys and sells and parts these cars out well when I started looking at this car I didn't know it was the same guy and the ad said all that this car needs is a motor and uh everything else is here so I went and looked at it of course seen some things I didn't like but most of uh what I didn't like I would have removed to do the ls swap anyway and my brother has a salvage yard so he's got plenty of Ls Motors so I uh like I said the thing was advertised as needs a motor that's it everything else is there well when I went and looked at it it had an AC compressor hanging over there and he cut the line to remove the compressor there's only one bolt holding the compressor and the line together but instead of pulling one 38 bolt he cut a line that's probably $150 line so that was a huge red flag so uh the ad the pictures inside the car had a radiator laying in there and a torque converter and you know some other miscellaneous Parts well when I get up there look at it there's nothing in the interior as well as uh the entrance moldings where the carpet meets let's go around here this door don't open let's go around here huh people just leaving what they want on my car I guess those moldings that go right there are missing you know so me you sell parts I'm sure there's you just took whatever whatever you wanted but anyway so bought a got a 2003 6 L it's a lq4 if you don't know LS engines the lq4 and the lq9 are the two engines the nine is one everybody wants cuz it has flat top pistons it's in the Escalades and stuff like that this is a four it has a dish Pistons low compression it's out of a Suburban so put it in here I bought the swap plates from Summit got it mounted guy gave me a turbo 350 with it it's not any good so it needs more than a motor it had no alternator power steering brackets no radiator no radiator hoses had the core support but it was out the hood was off wasn't any bolts of any kind in it so severely misrepresented which I overpaid way overpaid for the car but what I paid is not his fault he didn't hold a gun on me I you know I agreed to it but still it was misrepresented it needed way more than a motor needed brakes you know needed all kinds of stuff but anyway so we got the motor in with the transmission the drive line all in it the drive line was still in it when I got it it rolled around under there cuz they just they whoever pulled it pull the motor and transmission together and just left the drive line lay and then if you look at some of my videos on this car them rolling it around with no transmission let the drive line bang around and mess up the emergency brake cable bracket so I had to repair that you know on a car that just needs a motor it's all it needs but anyway we got the got the motor in we put the transmission on the crossmember bolted it up and then put my engine mounts on my plates where they need to be it's got energy suspension uh polyurethane motor mounts and they're Factory motor mounts for the Corvette and then they bolt to the adapter plates they're just an aluminum plate bolts to the side of the motor and then the factory Mount bolts to that plate so no cut and Welding nothing like that transmission's in its Factory location and uh LS simple.net Old Murphy Wallace he's a good guy I bought the alternator power steering brackets and he did my water pump I don't think I can show it but no it's in in the way you might can zoom in and see I don't know but a factory LS water pump has uh fittings that stick out the side right there for the heater hoses Murphy Wallace had mine cut off and welded back on pointed straight down so there's no interference with the suspension and uh since he already knew somebody that could do it I just let him get me a water pump and do it cuz I mean I could have bought a water pump from O'Reilly it's just a truck water pump well it's actually a Camaro water pump early LS1 I believe but uh I could have got one here locally but I don't really have anybody that can weld the aluminum and do the mods so I should let him do it anyway so we got it mounted we uh got the MSD 6014 box which controls all your ignition and uh got it all hooked up I put a h dual plane intake cuz that's the lowest intake I could find and I got the lowest air breather I could find the hood wheel shut but it rubs just a little bit not too bad we'll probably some point put a cow hood on it get more clearance but anyway core support he did have with it but he didn't have any brackets no bolts no nothing so I had to dig all that up ended up buying the brackets from him you know for a car that only needs a motor so got the radiator from was 300 bucks on Amazon and I just ordered it for a 79 C3 and uh you know it's not anything special it's just a replacement radiator had the Shroud and the two fans on it so we got all that done and then we started with the fuel system and the fuel system the uh fuel tank was was bad so we uh had to put a fuel tank got it from Amazon a kit put the fuel tank in it and got it going put electric fuel pump back there got fuel up here got it running and uh got it full of water and uh then we started on the brakes we did all four Lone Star calipers we also got brake hoses from lonar caliper in the same shipment they ship you the the uh calipers they're like 600 for all four of them but they charge you a $300 core charge so you get your new calipers put them on the car put your old calipers back in the Box send them back you get a $300 core core money so they initially cost you 900 and then when they get your old calipers back they take they give you 300 back so it's 600 I don't remember what the hoses were and lonar caliper while I was on hold they have weather stripping they have all kinds of parts for these c3s I didn't know that I don't think many people know that so we got the we got uh brake pads all the way around from O'Reilly's got new tires from Discount Tire got those on there got the brakes all bled and the back wasn't wasn't uh wouldn't bleed right so I put a master cylinder on it got it all bled out brakes work perfect the only thing that I didn't do was my gauges didn't work I have a uh a uh if I can find it I have a Dakota Digital this is my fan controller but when I you're supposed to be able to run the wire from the sensor to here and when I add the gauge to it then the uh the uh controller goes into LMP mode I guess you say the fan runs all the time I take the gauge out of the circuit it works right it comes on and goes off like you're supposed to this fan is you can't see it this fan is real close to the to the uh to the suspension right there and that caused it to make that fan quit working it pushed in enough that it it stopped the blade and burned the motor up so that one over there still works so I got to fix that but anyway that got us on the road running driving you can see it's been off the road a while we have uh and antique tags on it now so it doesn't use a window sticker so I figured I'd just leave that one so anyway I got it all running driving drove it to a couple car shows and then my son my youngest son him and one of his friends decided to take it joy riding now me and my daughter we just took it to a couple car shows and we just puted it around I'm I know the gauges don't work we're going a mile and cutting it off so it's fine so before I could get the gauges working he decides to go hot riding around the neighborhood take it out on the heliport where everybody goes and plays and do donuts and all kinds of stuff and brings it back and Parks it well me and the daughter are going to go to another little car show around here I go to start and it won't start I noticed it's in neutral I know she didn't leave it neutral last time we drove it so I get looking and there's a hose on the Overflow on my radiator I never hooked that up hm so I finally figured out what happened of course I asked him oh no I didn't do that didn't do that he finally fasted up well when I when I seen that I kind of knew what happened so filled it up checked the water filled it up with water now it's got a blown head gasket so transmission's bad head gaskets bad cuz the boy went joy riding now kind of lost interest in the car I don't really want to do work that I've already done but I did buy a parts car there's a video on that and I have a 700 R4 out of that car that's supposed to be a good transmission that car quit running it was a crossfire car and it quit running and nobody could make it run so the transmission should be good so we're going to put that in here and we're going to put head gaskets on it and at least get it where I can you know drive it around take it to a car show or two play around with it clean it up then the interior needs work needs carpet and seat covers all all that kind of going on so we'll get a I don't know if we'll get around to that or not kind of lost interest in this car like to sell it but I got sedang much money in it it's impossible to uh recoup what I got out of it so I took the one of my other videos if you go through the playlist on this car I took a uh this vacuum hose hooks to the engine I took a uh AC pump and hooked to that vacuum line and traced out all my vacuum hoses the headlight switch when you turn the headlights on it it supplies vacuum out here to a relay that opens the headlights there's a canister that holds vacuum and two relays that switch whether they go up or down and it's controlled by the headlight so couldn't get it to work took the headlight switch apart and I had the wire the vacuum hoses switched fixed that and this headlight over here had a uh a bad uh vacuum pod so I ordered the stuff to rebuild both of them but when I took this one apart the rod broke off I couldn't get the end off of it so I took the one out of the 82 the whole unit and I hooked it up to vacuum and it didn't work so I took the pot off it rebuilt it and put it back so the headlights work with the vacuum like they're supposed to I did a video on how the system works and how you can diagnose it using a AC vacuum pump so you don't have to have your car sitting here running the whole time for vacuum so we got all that did so all the lights work outside most of the dash lights work none of them worked when I started we started driving it the inside's just going to be a ground problem these cars are plastic they're not metal and they're well known for ground issues anytime you have an issue with electrical first thing you do is start running grounds but uh so that's kind of the story of that batter's no good I can put a side post battery in it'll crank right up and drive and it just uh when it gets to operating temperature it blows water out of the radiator so head gaskets transmission to be back on the road I'm getting too old and fat to get under these old cars so if we ever get uh paroled from the from the US government here where we get some money flowing again I'm going to buy me a four poost lift and I'm going to put it in my yard right there and I see those lifts have those Wheels you can let it down and it picks it up on the wheels hopefully I can roll it in the shop if I need to or work out here if for just you know simple jobs we'll see how all that works out anyhow I mean I'd like to have a concrete slab board out here but they're talking 7 to $10,000 I can't afford that you spend all my money on on uh shoing you can't buy no no projects so uh that's about the story on the on the car new fuel tank fuel system fuel pump the carbur the intake and the and the uh boxes new old headers exhaust it has new du I used the Mufflers off of the donor Corvette it has let's go over there where you can see them it has uh Center dump block hooker block hugger headers so it comes down in the middle just like the factory exhaust did that way it's not swept back by the firewall and keeps the keeps the exhaust as far away from the firewall as possible so anyway that's kind of what I did or why I did what I did I get a lot of flack from people over putting a carburetor on here but the reason I put a carburator on here is I want this big air cleaner I don't like the ls air cleaners now I know now they make an intake that the throttle body goes on top of I might go to that I'd planned on just using the MSD uh fuel system that they make but you know maybe I'll do the multiport with the throttle body on the intake and put the round air cleaner back on it we'll see when I get to that point we previous owner when they pulled the motor out they busted this so we're going to put vintage air in it this compressor is new and it's a it's a it's a Harrison compressor that the guy at LS simple says has valving in it for head pressure so it your head pressure don't get out of sight like they will on on converted cars so that'll be a good thing but anyway that's about where we're at it's got new du out the back there's videos of it running sounds pretty good I mowing the yard one day and hit my Chrome tip bent my pipe so when I get it running I got to take it back to the exhaust shop and get that fixed hit it with the front on the Zero Turn anyway that's about it in here we got uh pressure washer need to get water to it no money to put a motor in that no money to put parts on the old three-wheeler but uh we're not going to be down forever back on the golf cart we're not going to be down forever that's about all I got for today guys I know this is not much of a video no work being done but like I said I'm in financial jail and uh having to sell uh what I can sell to keep the bills pay the lights on little food in the belly you guys uh might put in the comments you know what organs I could live without you know I know I could sell a kidney think I can maybe sell part of a liver maybe a lung I don't know if you can live with one lung I don't know might come down to that can't never tell we're up to about 401 subscribers looks like we're gaining a little ground here guys and I appreciate all the all the guys liking sharing and and uh subscribing as Mr Clay milikin says and uh that's going back to do it for today I got to put something up to keep the algorithm going so we'll be putting random videos up until we get back out of jail federal financial jail all right y'all come see me here
