what's up you guys scott here so we've got to sit down for this one even though i'm always sitting down we're starting to see big changes in our industry whether you're a coach you're in hypnotherapy nlp or even rtt you would agree that not only has 2020 thrown so many curveballs into the industry a lot of things have changed a lot of things have changed in regards to seeing clients face to face how you market your business how you niche your business and everything in between even if you've been talking to other hypnotherapists and coaches chances are you've heard them talk about the same thing whether the fact that business has gone harder it's harder to market your business they're getting less clients coming in clients are maybe even turning around and saying that your prices are too expensive you and just like all your colleagues have experienced this turmoil thanks to 2020. so what i wanted to do in this video was really open up your eyes into what is possible in 2021 and let's get back to basics and start talking about niching your business so with so many people and so many experts talking about how you should niche your business i thought i'd throw my hat into the ring and give you my suggestions especially moving into 2021 to really avoid any of the niche traps that may turn your 2021 into a worse year than maybe what you had in 2012 so in this video guys i'm going to be breaking down the six and seven figure niches for your coaching your hypnotherapy even your nlp business moving into 2021 all the things you should avoid and how to turn your entire process your entire business your systems and everything you do into something that's going to be extremely profitable but i will say this a lot of the things i'm going to talk about will probably go against everything you've been taught in the past so this is just a quick disclaimer i'm not saying you have to follow everything i'm saying i'm not even saying you have to believe everything i'm saying all i want to do is give you some insights into somebody that has been through this turmoil before in a past hypnotherapy business came out the other side thanks to the strategies i'm going to be teaching you today not only that these strategies have been tried and tested with over a thousand students just in 2020 alone so i really believe i have some great insights for you so if you want to turn 2021 into your most profitable year yet maybe even looking at re-niching your business you're looking at refining the types of clients that you work with and you're looking to accelerate the system you have in your business obviously make more money as a therapist or a coach make sure you stayed at the end follow all the process but let's dive in i'm going to take you into my computer show you a quick diagram and then explain all the insights for niching your business in 2021 let's go to start off we've all heard the idea that people are always going to be motivated to move away from pain into some sort of pleasure and these are the things i think about this is really the understanding that i have when i niched my business also when we're teaching our students to niche their business as well it's what clients are looking to move away from some sort of pain into some sort of pleasure to take it even further i also think about this imagine this imagine you have a potential client sitting up at night time maybe 2 a.m in the morning when they should be sleeping stressed out in pain sweaty anxious fearful doubtful all of these things what are they thinking about what are the real problems in their life that are causing these sorts of symptoms so when it comes to niching this is the mindset you want to have especially moving into 2021 but really in any niche at all it's always thinking about client problems and real client problems and what you guys see in front of you is probably my favorite diagram to really represent what i mean about niching so here's the first thing i talked about i talked about the disclaimer is this i'm gonna be one of the first people to say because it is abundantly true not all niches are profitable that's the bottom line i wish i could come with better news and say that all niches are going to be profitable but it's simply not the case and you can see evidence of this in the real world because if every niche was profitable you wouldn't need to be watching this video it means that you could have been certified as a coach or a therapist or whatever moved out into the business world and started making money almost immediately it would also let us know that every business that has ever been started ever been thought of ever being conceived would be profitable but that is simply not the case you like most of your colleagues are probably struggling in business because you don't understand the foundations of what a niche really is and understanding this first no matter how much you want a niche to be no matter how passionate or profitable you want it needs to be no matter how passionate you are you want to work with this specific type of client in this sort of function in your business it doesn't mean it's going to be profitable so you do have to make the decision do i want to help people even though it may not be profitable for me or do i want to change my entire niche my entire view of my business and find something that's profitable but hey if you're looking to just work with people and change their life and that's the gratitude that you get because you're not in this to make money it means that you can pretty much work in any niche but if your goal is to make money from a very specific niche this is what this video is going to show you how to do so you do have to make that decision i'm not going to make that decision for you no matter how passionate you are no matter how much you want to help people if they're physically and unable to pay for your service or the problem you want them to have doesn't really exist it means that you're not going to make any sort of money as a therapist or a coach i've talked about this before so let's get that out of the way that's the disclaimer done guys you can believe it or you can take it as just a grain of salt it's totally up to you so let's say you are the latter and you have believe me when i say that not all nations are profitable how do we find the ones that are so this diagram sitting in front of you is going to break this all down so we have something called a red ocean and a blue ocean and unfortunately most coaches and therapists me included get caught in this red ocean full of competition price cutting random marketing and every therapist and coach it's almost like fighting for that last morsel that last paying client and this is not a place where you want to start and this is not a place where you want to stay so maybe even throughout this video you realize well i've been in a red ocean for such a long time no wonder i can't get my business off the ground i'm going to show you how to turn this into a blue ocean so what does a red ocean consist of well it's every therapist and coach all talking about the same thing have the same offer undercutting each other on prices calling other therapists and coaches they're basically saying i'm better than them i've been more certified i've got more experience and all this does is cluster all of these great therapists and coaches with amazing potential all fighting for the same type of client so let me give you an example so you know if you are in a red ocean so this really breaks it down so if your niche is coaching if your niche is hypnotherapy like these two fishermen here this is not a niche now let me explain why when it comes to working with clients your clients are not educated between the link of hypnotherapy and the thing that they want so hypnotherapy and overcoming anxiety or nlp and having a better mindset or even overcoming traumatic relationships and rtt whatever the process is clients are not educated like this so if we go out into the industry start niching for how we do things and create an offer trying to sell coaching and hypnotherapy our clients are going to be looking for a solution to their anxiety to their relationship issues to all the problems they have and they come to you but you're talking about hypnotherapy and coaching of course they're not going to want to work with you they're going to look for somebody who is talking about results results is the only thing that matters like when i mentioned before that lady sitting up at bedtime anxious scared all she wants is results she couldn't care how you do it another example of this is like when i took my car for a service the mechanic went into actually telling me what tools he was going to use what process he's going to use i actually had to stop him and say look i don't understand any of this i don't really care what you do i just know you're amazing at what you've done based on your reviews can you fix my car i just want the result the same thing comes with niching so one of the first red flags to know if you're in a red ocean is if your niche is coaching or hypnotherapy if someone says what type of people do you work with you say everybody i teach them or i give them hypnotherapy and coaching this is not a niche this is the house so you want to avoid niching to the how the next one off to the right here with this fisherman is just doing things cheaper if your niche is coming out saying i can help everybody and it's five or ten dollars cheaper than my competition this is not your niche and this is not going to differentiate you in the market enough to take you out of the red ocean and put you into the blue ocean so you do not want a niche based on price but a lot of gurus talk about this when they say if you want to stand in the out in the market you just want to be cheaper than everybody else now there's some relevance to that to a certain extent but it gets blown way out of proportion when that's all you're going for this becomes like as an example like your usp i'm just cheaper than everybody else this is not niching and this is not what clients are looking for next to the right here i do want to bring this up unfortunately 2021 through that curveball at us with covert and also lockdown but this is not something that you want to niche into so i saw and this was pretty prevalent a lot of therapists and coaches dropping what could have been very very potent uh highly profitable potential niches and turning all of their attention to becoming the therapist or a coach helping people with anxiety around covert or how to overcome the lockdown issues thanks to covert so basically change your entire system because of covert you do not want to do this and this also leads into you do not want a niche based on what is trending currently so if you're looking at the news you're looking at what's going on in the world you do not want to niche based on what's trending why because trending's come and trendings go which means that every month or two you're going to have to re-change that niche based on trending now trending is good for your marketing but not for niching so one of the big things i told all my students when i started when i started to see this happening i went into my facebook group and i told all my students do not change your niche because of covert do not change your niche based on the current trends also don't change your niches based on the new type of therapy or coaching that has come out into the world you want to keep your niche based on the fundamentals i'm about to show you which are the good things you should go for don't change your niche and definitely don't change uh don't create a niche i should say based on trending and what's happening with covert as well because once covert goes away we're going to have to change it again it becomes pointless the next one is a big one vagueness so i see this a lot as well and i'm not saying this cannot be a profitable niche because it definitely can be but when your niche is something like this i help women step into their power what does that mean what does stepping to your power mean and is that woman that's sitting up at nighttime stressed out anxious and doubtful about her entire life is she saying wow i really need to step into my power no because she doesn't talk like this she doesn't think like this why because she's not a therapist or a coach it seems relevant to you it seems relevant to me because i'm a therapist and a coach and i understand the lingo and i understand what this potential uh therapist or a coach is trying to get up but the regular people the general public even executive clients are not talking like this so we've got to be very very careful not to pick niches based on coaching lingo coaching ideas coaching insights so to step into your powers are big ones like a tony robbins type thing this is not a niche that real people are looking for it's not painful enough and it's not the way your potential clients are thinking so moving into 2021 you can definitely take that idea as a niche but you've got to refine it step into your power for what for who when and for why you take out the vagueness if there's any vagueness in your niche statement or your niche in general or even just your business in general it's going to be very hard for your clients to connect what you're really talking about and we know you know clients and people in general have very short attention spans we shouldn't have to have them try and work out what are we trying to say what are we trying to sell what's our business about no so being too vague would step into your power or live up to your potential these are just coaching lingo all you're going to do is get the attention of other therapists and coaches now if these are your clients perfect lingo but more than like if you're watching this video your clients are potent are just like the general public people out on the street maybe even executive clients that could be some sort of professional client they're not speaking in these terms so it's going to be very hard to sell a service and as well step into your power what could the end result be how could you know that someone has stepped into their power has reached their full potential whatever it is it is going to be very very hard to calculate what that end result is and we know clients are basing their buying power based off results clients pay for results that's all they pay for so it's going to be very hard to articulate what that end result could be because it's going to be different for everybody else and because it's so vague it's going to be very hard for your client to know that that's what they've paid for the next one alongside would like step into your power everybody goes and does this they start niching to mindset now mindset is such a vague idea it's probably the most over saturated market but every therapist or a coach and i used to believe this as well i tried to create a product based on mindset every therapist and coach believes they have a new way or a new strategy or something that has never been taught before in regards to mindset i'm here to tell you your potential clients are probably heard all the screams and cries before they probably had the mindset courses but we also believe as therapists and coaches that mindset is the answer to everything when it is simply not the case remember that woman sitting up a bed at nighttime is she thinking i need a better mindset no she's not talking like that she's not educated in these things she has a real problem and a real pain and it's your job to figure out what that is so step into your power not the best niche mindsets two vague not the best niche another big one is your journey guys now i'm gonna be one of the first to say i care a lot about you guys i care about your journey because it's definitely made you who you are today but i'm also here to tell you because it was for me as well your clients unfortunately do not care about you when you get out of the i'm going to use the mindset when you get out of the mindset that business is about your clients your business is about the results your clients get and you stop worrying about yourself or thinking about yourself you'll find that new avenues for niching your business will become really really clear here's the thing i tell all of our students as well if your journey and your story happens out of coincidence to line up to a very profitable niche so be it that's fantastic but if it doesn't who cares business is about your clients business is about your client results business is about your clients journey not yours now i get it to some extent sometimes marketing your journey and talking about yourself it could help clients connect with you but not to the extent where i would niche my entire business based on my journey my background was helping uh lawyers quit smoking i'm not a lawyer never have been i've got no one in my family that's a lawyer i'm also not a smoker never have been but if i tried to align up my journey and my story and my story unfortunately i went through a lot of bullying when i was in school i could have tried to niche to that but then what i'm trying to do is i'm trying to align up what i know and my journey and my experience into a niche that may not be very profitable and i found out that it wasn't so i couldn't work on that niche but had i been so convinced that i want my journey to empower people i'm going to create programs and courses and write books i'm going to niche my entire outcome based on what i want i'm going to miss the point pretty much straight away remember business is not about you and this was a big learning curve for me as well when i realized that clients don't care about my journey they don't care about what i'm doing in my life they don't care about how i'm going to treat them what type of hypnosis i'm going to use they don't even care who i was trained by and i was trained by some extremely well-known hypnotherapists and coaches but they don't care about this it's that young lady sitting in bed who has a real pain that is only thinking about herself so even in the stems of marketing stopping to market about your journey or yourself will pay massive dividends when you start marketing results towards a client so listen to your clients niche to their journey not yours but like i said if it happens to line up fantastic but if it doesn't it's not the end of the world who cares find a niche that is profitable and that you enjoy working with the last big one and i only bring this up because it is the end of 2020 i saw it all over instagram this morning and it's fine but it's the whole goal setting thing now every therapist coach is now trying to sell a goal setting product talking about nation to goal setting now let's be honest is goal setting a big enough problem that someone is willing to pay a very high price for to overcome probably not goal setting is not a pain or a problem what you could talk about is what problems arise because this person doesn't have the right goals you sort of see where i'm going we're changing the whole direction when we're not talking about goal setting or mindset or stepping into the power we now talk about the symptoms and the problems that have caused because of this thing so really the red ocean in this example is i could really encapsulate this all it's just doing what everybody else does when there's so many therapists and coaches being certified every single day every single week every single month every single year everybody tends to go towards the same thing which is the coaching the hypno the cheaper the mindset step into your power goal setting my journey covered trends while they're nation to all of those things what you have to do is be the person that doesn't niche to those things and go into the blue ocean and realistically finding a blue ocean niche can be a little bit difficult but it's also once you find it it's the difference between your business that maybe struggles to make a thousand dollars a month to one where we have students making a thousand dollars per day guys just from understanding this red ocean blue ocean so i've talked enough about the negative red ocean what is a blue ocean well it really comes down to this moving into 2021 and every year you know moving forward into your business the same rules apply a blue ocean a very profitable niche consists of just these things a real problem not a problem made up in your head not a problem that you want people to have because you're an expert in and it's like you're trying to create a problem in their life so you can sell them a service real problem what is that young lady thinking about what is she experiencing in bed anxious doubtful scared about everything in her world a whole world's collapsing what is she thinking about what are the symptoms she's experiencing this is a real problem next is real people not people that are made up in your head now the reason i bring this up because i know there's a lot of coaches and therapists who go through that exercise of creating like the perfect avatar now when i was given this exercise it didn't make sense to me because i could just make up any person in my head i could make up a multi-trillionaire who has a thousand family members that are all going to pay me a million dollars to quit smoking this person doesn't exist so trying to make up the perfect person who has the problem that you want them to have because you can solve it becomes you know irrelevant because now you're just making stuff up one of the biggest things when niching and business in general like i said before stop thinking about yourself but get out of here guys get out of your head look at the real world problems look at real people and understand what they need for you from you next is able to pay and like i said before i had other passion projects when i was a therapist other things beyond just helping people quit smoking that i really really wanted to work with because i had a lot of passionate but unfortunately passion blinds us passion makes us deaf to the extent that our potential clients that we want to work with say we don't want to pay for this we don't want your offer and you can always tell that if you're not making money in your business but you're too passionate to hear and see what's really going on you're trying to basically push a product that people don't want and there's nowhere in the world these people are going to pay for that so they have to be able to pay for your services if you go through the marketing you're doing strategy calls on sales calling you're constantly hearing that no we don't want your service we can't afford it we can't afford it we can't afford it make that decision do you stick with it and keep pushing it no you're just going to get the same response for the rest of your life or do you change the niche okay next is differentiation if your product service offer price marketing marketing message is the same as every other therapist or a coach it's going to be extremely tough for you to sell your service one sure way to find out if this is the case go speak to all your colleagues go speak to 10 or 20 therapists even go to their websites are you noticing they're talking about all the same stuff that you are they have the same offer the same words the same prices the same everything if that's the case how do you expect your clients to pick you over them now differentiating doesn't mean having a different name to website or using a different funnel or using squeeze page instead of sales pages that's not differentiation we do something in our 100k coaching program we call it reverse engineering offer and i'll give you a bit of an insight into this one of the exercises we give our students to do is go looking at other therapists and coaches website talk to other therapists and coaches find out what are they selling what are they talking about looking at their reviews looking at their testimonials and finding out what are they missing out on what's something that i can create that's different that could achieve a better outcome than what everybody else is talking about now on instagram this morning like i said i probably saw about 30 or 40 therapists and coaches all talking about their latest goal setting program that they're trying to sell their latest mindset program and why these are great tools and people could get a lot from them if i'm general public joe blogs and i look at this i've got 30 or 40 people to choose from who am i going to choose i'm probably going to choose the cheapest one and if you're selling a course for five dollars i'm probably going to go that because it looks the same as everybody else why would i pay a hundred dollars when it looks the same as the five dollar one you guys see my point here so you have to be differentiated last and not least and this is a little tricky uh tricky or sneaky trick that i came up with that we teach all our students to do is understanding that you're not only niche to a real person with a real problem but you start niching to different platforms if you have an online business you obviously have to be able to locate your potential clients online so where are your clients located are they on facebook are they on youtube are there instagram or twitter because you want to spend all your time on the right platforms instead of wasting your time and marketing in the places where your clients aren't so knowing where your clients are in big enough clusters so you can start marketing to this place and ignore everything else so real problem real pay a real problem real people able to pay differentiated and also niching to a platform so there's a couple of points on the side here i want to make really abundantly clear a made-up problem is not a niche if you've come you know you've you've come to the understanding that you do have to niche and you thought well what niche am i going to pick well i'm just going to make up a problem because that's what i want people to understand what i want people to know that's the problem in the journey that i had i want other people to have this problem as well what are you doing you're thinking and you're not your client your client exists in the real world not inside your head next one i talked about is vagueness like the step into the power thing the live your biggest potential all of this you know understand your why all of these vague ideas you have to make them crystal clear take out the vagueness and have something concrete next is the oversaturated now i didn't talk about this when i was talking about the red ocean but i'll bring this up now i always hear a lot of therapists and coaches from the thousands of strategy calls that we do every year that they've come to a conclusion based on the training that they've had that every problem stems from anxiety i hear this all the time every problem in somebody's life can all be stemmed back to either like a childhood issue which may be the case or anxiety which may be the case but what happens every therapist and coach dives into the anxiety market and if i was going to be abundantly clear here i would say that the anxiety market is not only probably the most oversaturated market in the industry but it's one of the hardest markets to really get your foot in because you've got to think the people that suffer from anxiety what are those people like they've probably been to therapists and coaches before failed they've had medication that's failed they've heard all the claims and the big ideas failed so there's going to be very hard people to have them understand your way of thinking and because every therapist and coach i would say anxiety itself is a red ocean because every therapist and coach has concluded or been told to conclude that every problem in someone's life from everything you can think of all stems from anxiety so every therapist and coach goes to the anxiety niche so i would say moving into 2021 i've actually told this to my students as well avoid the anxiety niche because again way too broad i'm not saying it can't be done but you want to find a small section of that anxiety it could be anxiety in men over 50 it could be social anxiety it could be driving anxiety you take a very oversaturated mark which is anxiety in general and now you close it you section it down to one small part and these things are worth investigating so you're not now helping someone with anxiety you're helping someone with like ptsd and anxiety so to see where i'm going there guys next is not niching to the how if your entire marketing your entire website your entire funnels ads whatever you're using and your niche statement is basically saying i'm a coach i'm a hypnotherapist you're niching to the wrong things clients don't care what you call yourself clients don't care how you're going to help them all they want to know is will you get a result okay next is a low population you've got to make sure that there's a big enough population of people inside that niche so you can make enough money long term like i said before they're not willing to pay they can't pay because they have no money you have to change the niche drop your ego drop your passion if not that's fine like i said you don't have to believe everything i'm saying but if you're struggling to sell your services because you're so blind and you know deaf to your passion that it's just screaming in your head it doesn't mean that it's profitable if you could take one thing away from this entire video it would be that stop listening to your passion it's not always going to be profitable no matter how much you want it to be it doesn't mean it's going to be profitable if it is fantastic but if it's not find something that is next is like i said your journey your clients don't care i care about you your friends and family care about you but that young woman who's sitting up at nighttime stressed out and anxious doesn't care about your journey what you've been through she just wants to know if i'm going to hire scott will he give me a result that's all i'm paying for next is making sure that your clients are accessible online if you're running an online business you have to be able to make an offer on or from youtube on linkedin on twitter on instagram on facebook but if all your clients are technology mute which means they're not on any of these platforms it's going to be very hard for them to see your offer and for you to get in contact with them and start to work with them so guys this is really it this is what it comes down to the biggest takeaway from today aside from the passion thing is get out of the red ocean make 2021 a blue ocean real people real problem able and willing to pay differentiated and making sure that you're also niche to a certain platform so you can get the majority of those people and spend more time in the places where your clients are and less time in the place where your clients are not so as
