alright guys welcome back to the Langley farms Academy thanks for stopping by today I've got a fun one for us it's another bullet comparison today we are doing the five five six versus the two two three extremely similar rounds but there is some difference so I want to explain those differences and really kind of get you guys behind the bullet so we can kind of break down what to do and what not to do and when to apply it so as you can see right here I've got the green tip five five six and the bullet opposite is a two to three Remington extremely similar bullet like I was just saying so basically the history between these two rounds is they have the same background they are both designed for the m16 and eventually the ar-15 now the two to three was the first bullet designed for the m16 and then the ar-15 the two to three has about 55,000 psi it's a high-pressure cartridge the velocity of the bullets about 2,800 feet per second so it's a very fast very flat trajectory bullet however the military came in and basically tweaked it a little bit and said they wanted a little bit more out of the cartridge so they made what they call a five five six by 45 or the NATO designation for the five six extremely popular in the United States this is pretty much America's Sweetheart round ar-15 everyone has an ar-15 that's the gun all the accessories amazing stuff but it's all based on these bullets so the two to three can fire out of a gun that's designated five five six but the five five six cannot fire out of a two to three safely you can't do it but I don't recommend it and I'm about to tell you why so the five five six one two two three are different and mainly two ways one the five five six chamber is deeper so there's more of a hole there in the chamber for the bullet to expand into the two two three has a shallower chamber so when you are firing a two to three round in a 556 chamber you're basically losing a little bit of pressure because they can put the pieces aren't as tight together but it's still gonna function perfectly fine there's not gonna be any kind of over pressurization or issue with that however if the inverse happens you're in this different situation a two to three has that shorter chamber in the gun so when you put a five five six in there you really run the risk of over pressurizing your gun which can mess a bolt up it can mess up the gas blocks it can mess up the chamber itself the barrel you can do a lot of damage to your gun just by using the wrong ammunition so that's the first difference is the chamber is different on the actual firearms the second difference is the pressure is a little bit different so the military made the five five six a little bit heavier the typical two to three is fifty five grains that's typical you can obviously go plus and minus for a lot of Flast or faster lighter bullet or a heavier slower bullet but typically it's a 55 grain bullet in the five five six they made that bullet into a 62 grain bullet they loved that 62 grand power however because the bullets a little bit heavier it takes more pressure to push it out of the casing and down the barrel which leads to a higher pressure cartridge in the five five six the numbers 2 to 3 is about maxed out of 55,000 psi the five five six is maxed out at about 60,000 psi so both extremely effective cartridges very closely related you just don't want to mix up the guns and the bullets just to kind of recap real quick you can always shoot a two to three out of a five five six but you cannot shoot a five five six bullet out of a two to three chambered rifle safely it will work but you will eventually see signs of your gun succumbing to pressure damage different bolts different pieces will start going out and eventually could lead to a catastrophic failure which you don't want which is never what you want in situations we want to be safe and effective so guys that's two two three four spots five six I hope you enjoy it and if you want me to do any more caliber comparisons please please leave those in the comments below and I will see you guys on the next one this is Brayden signing out
