$500 SALVAGE Porsche First Drive! Cheap $23 Repair (Budget Boxster Ep.2)

how much like $23 shift to fix our broken suspension first gear come on [Music] what's up to your garage welcome back to the channel so today's the day will our $500 budget Boxster run and drive after this simple $23 suspension repair now I can't believe I'm saying that literally a day after buying the car and going through it we're potentially taking it on its maiden and test drive if you guys missed our last video then be sure to check that out but basically we picked up this 2001 Boxster as a non running car for $2,500 and lo and behold it has gt3 gt2 sport seats in it which are worth two to three thousand dollars so once we replace those seats with normal just om standard seats we're gonna be in the car about 500 bucks so this is definitely gonna be a fun one Christian's over at the warehouse now and he's got the one suspension piece which hopefully will fix all of our problems and get the car running and driving now we don't know the condition of the clutch or anything like that so there's still a lot of unknowns but hey we're gonna give it a shot and if this thing runs and drives perfectly I will be just so surprised and happy that we have a running and driving Porsche over like 500 bucks so stay tuned for that and future videos on the way next video we have a new wheel and tire setup coming for our truck we're super pumped for that Yokohama sent us out a set of very aggressive mud off-road tires which are also really good on the road too so that will be exciting to run those tires on our new method race wheel setup I cannot wait to show you guys what they're gonna look like it's gonna be a huge step up quite literally these tires and wheels are massive so stay tuned for that or black 458 content is on the way search and the guys of vision exotics are for that coming soon without further ado let's get to the warehouse and let's get fixing this budget boxer here we go all righty how's it looking looking good so this ball joint and it needs to come off and you can't normally just turn off the bolt sometimes you can but sometimes it'll spin this whole ball joint in here and so that's why they have a torques indentation in them so you can hold the bolt still while you turn off the nut it's kind of hard without all right so rod keeping it straight but this guy will work his way off and then over here this guy I got loose no out comes this eccentric bolt to dial in the alignment and how do you get this off with the exhaust of there come on oh no I'll get that out Bowman comes off come out and then this goes in something had enough pressure during the crash to absolutely snap that thing like a little toothpick and actually I was thinking and what if it wasn't really the drivers fault what if it's just failed and that's what sends him out of control into the walls it's not really like this whole wheel is smashed in fact is there an advantage on this wheel I that just hit me good point there is no damage on the wheel so how would that have gotten snapped unless it was hit from the underside by something but how the toe is from like slamming up against so it just had a catastrophic failure which messed up the wheel obviously and sent him careening into the wall which totaled the car have been ah we're still trying to piece together what the heck happened to get this car like this I think he was on the track yep look at all the mud like just makes sense that if he'd like slammed up against the tires or so I'm making good progress when you get this bad boy off hit new one on and hopefully we can get to a first drive later this video exciting stuff alright so loosen this guy up got the heat shield out of the way stupid thing no way and now eccentric eh got it and a funny looking bolt for alignment is out and this guy I loosened him up one tap of the hammer whoa look at that okay and he's out and get the TIE fighter out of there and that leftover bit oh yes now the old part look the same as the new part if you guys missed last last upload Christian you wanna repeat how much you paid for the suspension part which will fix all of our problems back here like just over 20 bucks shipped to our door that's another reason we got this car so cheap is by the pictures it looked like it had some gnarly suspension damage but it turns out it's just one little thing yeah alright well we'll get putting this in and let's see if it strains it out you've got one left don't let it go [Music] all right just like that a little higher right let's see if there's any play no sweet no that's what we do have to get an alignment you think yeah at some point but it'll be good enough for now all right it's getting a little dark but I think we're about done we're ready to do a test drive dare I say test drive after an hour and a half of working on this car we're about to do a test drive on the $500 Porsche all right guys get this so earlier today I went to go play with the radio to make sure that works and then it gives me this little password code that you have to put in I have no idea what it is and we don't have the original manual or booklets with this car so we have zero clue what to put in but I hopped on the forums and they would said if you have the VIN and the model of the radio with the serial number which you can find by hitting a few buttons and you give it that info to your local Porsche dealership they can give you the code so they told me to try 9 5 3 8 so we're really hoping this works ready 9 5 3 8 ok it works cool see how all right all right I like it here we go start it up it starts right up let's go all right the top we're gonna finish putting down so I can do that right yeah there she goes all right let's do this ready first gear come on [Music] there we go first gear smooth clutch test brakes all right one two shift yeah it works okay steering wheels a little bit off mmm although it goes perfectly puts it that goes perfectly straight it's just off a little bit to the right oh the handling feels so good though suspension feels really good yeah that was smooth I don't hear any creature rattles of the bumps let's go yeah the five hundred dollar Porsche with an hour of work we're literally driving it all that handles nicely one little light roadster yes yeah brakes no we're all good obviously because they're like brand-new this is gonna be fine [Music] looks like we need a break late who he's zipping around that roundabout [Music] that's the best convertible Porsche speed yellow board seats no funky noises no funny smell nice wheels forward eyes guys comment down below this car is so much fun this is why we keep an eye out we keep open-minded about any car we might find along the way and the fact that we had a trailer up in California and we're like let's buy a car and we hopped on the computers two hours later we go and buy a car let's see what he thinks I can see it I tell you it's so much fun just top that I do say it needs an exhaust stay what you want I know the exhaust cost more than the car but guys guys come on I know I'm sure it's pretty good but I mean top down let's street pipe this bad boy flat six that's an iconic Porsche sound [Music] [Applause] we scored we bought it as a car that doesn't run it runs we bought it as a car with significant suspension damage it turns out it was just that one little piece of Christian replace man guys this goes to show if you're like wanting to get into your first car you want to get in a car flipping or whatever just keep an open hi like literally we had no plans to buy Boxster but I was just hopped on the internet looked for good deals and realize there was money to be made on this one there it comes alright alright Speed Racer I see you the brakes are actually really good the car wastes so little 2750 I think oh yeah like I was saying I mean there's tons of boxers out there let if you go look right now there's probably hundreds of them so just finding the good ones like this one had sports seats this is a guaranteed winner and then we just happen to get a little lucky with everything else but we put everything together they showed the front trunk not opening in the pictures on the auction so therefore we knew it must have been stuck or something because they will always show it with it pop so it was weird so we figured okay then that means the battery must not have been accessible to jumpstart the car for it to run so we got a massive discount on a non runner car that run perfectly fine beautiful oh man guys we're just hyped for this cam so all perfect look at not doesn't overheat literally purrs like a kitten this was a well cared for what do you guys think of this design this has definitely got 99 6 written all over its that era of Porsche but I could get like it's a huge improvement over I mean this is kind of like the 90s and 944s were still being made in the 968 we're in their prime but this looks modern Porsche this wasn't yeah this was a big leap for Porsche and as was the 997 for sure this car is aged super well I mean even the next gen boxers look really good too they're just good value cars to have a lot of fun and what I find interesting is how every single one of our club cars have their own unique character and [Music] alright so we just pulled the car and one last look Christian is actually knocking out a little chip that obviously we didn't pick up previous owner you can save a ton of money by doing these DIY kits well this one gives me a few fills per peruse some of them are just single-use but they stick down on there nice and tight sealed oh and you had a drop down into there and then you force it in there into the crack into the windshield of this windshield repair resin good to go it works really well you it just disappears so Christians doing that real quick Kieran's actually here and you just went driving with me and you drove it yourself what do you think I wish I got sound systems good to know it's a baby Carrera GT boy come on now yeah same steering wheel the same paint come on now you want to see more at this car be sure to subscribe to the channel and I will see what the next cheap rebuild project is but this will be definitely a lot of fun to rip around Arizona sunny weather and like we said we can probably do some sort of conversion to the front end here and believe it or not they make like GT 3 style from bumpers or we can go like euros and get rid of the yellow you can do some things to make it better so we may do that as well as the exhaust comment down below do we need to do a straight pipe exhaust fab speed makes a wicked exhaust for this car that sounds crazy despite it not being the s even with it being the base the 2.7 liter does sound pretty good anyway guys
