today we'll be taking a look at some incredible budget watches that every Enthusiast should consider I'll be taking you through 10 different categories of watches and discussing multiple watches per category I'll keep most of the pick super affordable where possible with a mixture of big established Brands and some cool micro Brands too you'll find some affiliate links for some of the watches mentioned down in the description and those will be some of the best prices on the gray market now I can't think of a better place to start than the old school SEO 5 range now listen there's nothing wrong with the new SEO 5 models I mean I have one in my collection personally but I just think that the old school seyo 5 range represents a time in seo's history that no longer exists these old school seyo 5 models just had insane value for money sure they didn't have sapphire crystals or great water resistance ratings but what they lacked in specs they made up for in insane amounts of personality the snxs79 is one of the most popular from the old school SEO 5 range a lot of YouTubers have called this one the Seiko 5 date just but don't be afraid afid to take a look at some of the other models that maybe don't get talked about as much take the SNK k25 for example it's got a super sporty dial design that would look great on a NATO strap and with those two stripes down the side of the dial it's giving proper race car Vibes and check out the snkk71 too this one's definitely a lot more classic in its design yes it's basic but I think it's super elegant this watch would look insanely good on a leather strap and you can just treat this like a dressy everyday watch and if you want a little bit of history on your wrist then check out the snkl 23 this watch is a little bit of an internet icon for how good it looks and all of these watches can still be found for around about $100 now most of these watches are discontinued so these are like the last of the stock available so in a few years time these watches will be likely really hard to buy but I think right now is a perfect time to buy them also guys I'd love you to subscribe to the channel it's completely free just down there thank you now when it comes to Affordable chronographs I think that the best ones are the pieces that are powered by the seagull st19 movement of course this movement is an anomaly at this price point a mechanical chronograph for around about $200 of course the most popular use of this movement is in the seagull 1963 and that is a fan favorite watch that many people love and it's also a watch that is inside hundreds and hundreds of watch collections personally though I'd look for something else that features the movement but maybe by a micro brand instead I like this watch by Pierre pollin it's like a vintage racing watch again featuring The st90 Movement for around $200 then there's Brands like heml that are using the movement inside of a pilot watch reminiscent of something like the Brigade type 20 of course a popular one in studio Underdog with their watermelon watch super unique fun quiry British micro brand if you want a sporty chronograph featuring this movement then I like the look of the Laurer Gemini the bracelet on this watch looks super sharp if you want like a dressy chronograph then the Baltic byy compax is definitely one that I would take a look at the dial design is super classy and I think it slides into almost any watch collection now for a dress watch most enthusiasts would advise you to maybe go and take a look at the Orient Bambino or the Timex Marlin and those are fantastic dress watches I've experienced them both myself but I think for a dress watch it's the perfect opportunity to maybe take a look into the Vintage Market you can find some huge brands for around the same price as a Timex or the Orient Bambino and in my opinion these vintage watches are just offering a little bit more personality and a little bit more substance for around about $300 you'll be able to find some cool vintage or Mega Devils these watches are usually a little bit smaller maybe 32 34 mm but they make the perfect dress watch also take a look at some vintage L jeene you'll be able to pick these ones up for around about $200 but for me they just look way more classy than a Timex Marlin or an Orient Bambino but if you're on a super tight budget then go and take a look at some vintage seyos there are quite literally thousands of vintage seyos on the secondary Market ranging from as little as $20 up to like 100 and Seiko have released that many watches over the years that you'll definitely find one that you like the look of but make sure you do a little bit of research when looking at buying a vintage watch just spend a couple of hours researching about the model that you might want to buy research about how you can spot a fake not only are you educating yourself a little bit on the matter but you're also going to end up with a pretty cool watch at the end of it I think another obvious watch that every Enthusiast should try at some point is a military watch and I think that the most obvious brand here is probably Hamilton of course the khaky range is a little bit of an icon now amongst the online watch Community but if you wanted to go with something a little bit different then maybe check out batui the design of the cases on these watch is super unique and you won't find them anywhere else if you want to go with a pilot's watch then I'd absolutely recommend Lao their basic range is super affordable but they offer great specs and of course Lao is a brand that has genuine Heritage to this Fleer design if you want to get something that's British then check out the CWC G10 this is a field watch that was issued to the British Military and they're still making these field watches to military specification Marathon another great brand to check out they make a range of different styles of watches again built to military specification but one of my favorite Brands is a little bit under the radar it's a brand called Aristo now Aristo are a German watch brand and their watches feature they made in German stamp at the bottom of the dial but they make some Fleer watches that are insane value for money their 5 h100 model features a Swiss movement and a sapphire crystal so also nice and thin and less than $500 now one watch that I absolutely think that every Enthusiast should consider but most don't is a statement watch I feel like a lot of people maybe get into watch collecting and they take it a little bit too seriously and then they forget that it's just about having some fun don't forget to show off your personality a little bit let your hair down and buy something that represents your fun side this would be a great opportunity to maybe get something that's got a complication I think of something like the Alo 8 that I reviewed recently with the wandering hour or atak do some crazy statement pieces too but it doesn't have to be complication you can just get something that's got some crazy colors take a look at British micro brand Mr Jones and the insane amount of colors that they use or it can just be as simple as getting a Casio that has a pink dial don't forget to have some fun and not take everything so serious now I'm not necessarily a big fan of AliExpress watches but I can absolutely appreciate what they have to offer and I definitely think it's a type of watch that every Enthusiast should at least try at some point and then you can come to your own conclusion as to whether you like them or don't for me AliExpress watches make the most sense when they're super affordable but when you start getting to $2 $300 I'd probably go to a micro brand instead but I think of watches like the balony 1921 that I reviewed last year is a super cool AliExpress watch just over $100 for that watch I thought was a good deal but then there watches like the sander tank that are only $10 that's where I think the AliExpress watches make the most sense the Addis dive 8 2030 was a $50 watch that I reviewed last year not a perfect watch but the build quality the design everything was there for $50 you'll be able to get a full titanium watch with something like the B Voyager not insane quality or anything but full titanium is rare to find at this price but my absolute favorite watch on AliExpress was the balony Bronze bezel this was an original design watch that just really stood out to me and what I like to see in watches I just thought that it was absolutely beautiful of course there are thousands of homage watches on AliExpress so go and try them out but be careful not to focus on them too much and get too value driven because you'll be sacrificing some super cool original designs that maybe don't have the same spec now for me if an Enthusiast wants to buy a dive watch I would always recommend orian for me orian is the no-brainer dive watch for an affordable collector there's so much Choice with colors and sizes but one of the most cool things about Orient di watches is that they all come with in-house movements now I know the term in-house is thrown around quite a lot and it's a bit of a buzz word when it comes to collecting but I do think it's still a good ever in the cap to have for a watch brand to make their own movements now I absolutely trust the water resistance ratings on Orient dive watches I'm pretty sure that some micro Brands just slap 200 M on the dial without even testing the watches properly but the key thing with Orient dive watches is that they're all original designs you won't find Rolex or Omega knockoffs and that is something that I personally respect if you wanted to go with like a classic dive watch then the ray series is a place to look these have like an inoffensive design with plain colors the oranging Canó is another good option though these ones have a bigger case size so they're better for enthusiasts with larger wrists but the design of the Cano is a little bit Bolder a little bit harsher I also think they look a little bit more masculine if that's what you're into but my number one pick is definitely the Orient kamasu it's a watch that I've owned for a while now and I absolutely love the whole kamasu line comes with sapphire crystals which is a big plus and because there's different generations of kamasu there's different choices when it comes to colors and dial designs now the bracelets the clasps the end links they're all a little bit rattly and feel a little bit cheap but for me that sort of adds to the tool watch vibe that they have they are tough as they come and they feel like they'll have your back now the sports watch trend is definitely on a decline but I think it's still a style of watch that enthusiasts should try out the obvious pick is of course the TSO PRX a completely boring pick yes but it is the safe option my pick would actually be the citizen soosa it's less than the quartz PRX however it has an automatic movement and a bracelet that you can actually get a good fit with there's tons of choice with the soosa 2 in terms of dial color if you want to spend a little bit more than check out the main Manhattan this is a homage of a vintage Vashon constantan model but it's a homage that you don't usually see now the dial on this watch is what makes it so special I believe it's a coats the genie finish these are a little bit more expensive I believe they're around $800 but the fit finish and look of these watches just looks so bloody good and of course if you wanted to spend that little bit extra then the Christopher W 12 is one that everybody loves again stunning dial design and the case of this watch looks so good the bracelet on the watch 2 looks incredible rible definitely A step above the PRX but you are paying that little bit extra now if you only wanted to dip your toe in the sports watch World then I'd recommend maybe taking a look at Timex or Casio you are taking a big step down in quality compared to the other watches that I've just talked about but they definitely give you the sports watch experience so you can decide whether you want to maybe spend a little bit more and try something else or you might just think that it's a load of hype and you want to avoid the trend now for me the GMT is one of the most overhyped complications when it comes to watch collecting because realistically the GMT is only useful to a very small percentage of people although typically GMT watches are absolutely fantastic I just find them a little bit useless now they're probably perfect for somebody that lives in a different country than the one they was born in or somebody who genuinely travels around a lot of different countries but for someone like me who only goes on holiday three or four times a year a GMT is pretty useless when I'm on holiday I don't really care what time it is back home I'm just sipping my beer by the ocean I couldn't care less they are occasionally useful for maybe tracking a different time zone where you might be interested in something that's going on in that time zone for example I watch a lot of golf and I like to know what time it is in America so that I can watch the golf on time I think that one of the best GMT watches you should try out is the Casio Royale yes it's simple and it's cheap but it's bloody good 31 different time zones few clicks of a button what's not to love now Seiko have released a new GMT styled as a field watch and this is one of my favorite looking gmts that I've seen released over the last few years if you wanted something that's got like a cool history then check out the glycine Airman you can get Auto itic versions of this watch for like $600 $700 or you can get Quartz versions for like2 200 and of course there is tons of micr brand options too there's seemingly a new GMT released by a micro brand every other week I've reviewed a few on the channel including the feus wave Master GMT a beautiful dive watch GMT with a 40 mm case or the boreales 300 GMT to styled after a seam Master professional 300 with the big triangle at the 12:00 and some super fun colors too now one type of watch that I think every enthusiast should absolutely try at some point is micr Brands now the world of micr Brands can be very scary when you've not experienced it before because there's hundreds if not thousands of different micro Brands out there it's hard to know exactly which ones you should try out my advice is to start with the more established micro Brands maybe ones that have been around for 10 15 years and have a lot of models in their catalog I think of the likes of Dan Henry with their crazy chronograph lineup vintage inspired watches with great specifications and they're all around $300 or if you want to to support a fellow YouTuber then Islander makes some incredible watches too I've tried three Islander watches now and I've not been disappointed with any of them one of the most popular micro Brands is of course Baltic from France one of the more popular watches from the Baltic catalog is the mr01 with that beautiful micro rotor movement another massive micro brand is zelos these guys have been around for ages they specialize in making dive watches but they have a crazy use of colors and materials in their watches if you're a racing buff then absolutely check out Stratton Stratton are inspired by racing TS throughout their whole catalog and my personal favorite micro brand is vario now these watches are vintage inspired but they absolutely put their own twist on things fal's designs just speak to me on a different sort of level and then once you've tried out some micro Brands and you've got a bit more confidence then you can go and try out some new micro Brands too you know brand new brands who are releasing watches on Kickstarter for the first time the world of micro Brands can be a scary place but I also do think it's one of the most fulfilling if you like this video and fancy some more affordable watch suggestions then go and watch this video here go and watch it I'll see you over there bye for now
