hi everyone welcome back to the cocktail vlog i'm steve the bartender and if you guys are new here and you enjoyed today's video then make sure you like and subscribe [Music] i'm following on from my other two vodka series so i've done easy quick and easy vodka cocktails so i'll make sure that i link up here and in the description below so you can watch those two other series the other two are mainly two and three ingredient cocktails so they're super simple not that these are complex cocktails but there's you know three four five ingredients and some more esoteric ingredients at the same time so yeah let's get started on the first one which is going to be a hawaiian sunset this one was featured in smuggler's cove and is a tikki tropical vodka cocktail so it calls for 45 mil 1.5 ounces of your chosen vodka today i'm just using finlandia which is kind of my one of my go-to house vodkas workhorse spirit and then we've got orget or jaat and i'll just double check my recipe there got 50ml half an ounce and lemon and lime juice 50ml half an ounce of each and then a bar spoon of house made grenadine i'll leave a link to that that video as well so you can check it out so you can make your own grenadino just enough grenadine just enough color to hopefully make it a nice pink drink through shake with ice and give it a shake and fine strain into a chilled cook glass and garnish with a lime wedge or in my case a dehydrated piece of wine now i'd say rather than a hawaiian sunset it looks more like a hawaiian like blush just by the color it's really light pink but that 100 depends on the type of grenadine you use wine sunset cheers [Music] yum really easy to drink um well balanced with the the sweetness and the sour i like the combination of the the two uh citrus juices but it's quite tart from that that grenadine really vibrant and that hint of nuttiness from the organ i really like that so on to cocktail number two i'm making the cocktail culture by jim meehan which is found in one of his bartender's manuals i'll leave a link to that in the description below so you can check it out this is an interesting mix of vodka uh honey yogurt and passion fruit puree so interesting combo of flavors that i'm quite intrigued to try so this is 52.5 mil one and three-quarter ounce of vodka i can't say i've ever had honey yogurt before so it says three quarter ounce i don't really want to use my [ __ ] but it's really thick yoghurt so honey yogurt see a better idea is to measure the yogurt first then the vodka afterwards and then it rinses the rinse of the [ __ ] to some extent hey there we go now we've got 15 mil of passion fruit puree half an ounce then i have seven and a half mil of vanilla syrup which i don't want to make a big batch of so i just simply put simple syrup and a little bit of vanilla bean extract or vanilla bean paste i should say now fill that shaky glass and give it a shake [Music] now this one did call for a rinse of bourbon vanilla extract spray so unfortunately my atomizer's broken so i'm just going to pour a small splash in there and then just rinse the glass and that's just uh turkey 101 so a higher proof bourbon with vanilla just a light rinse and double strain into the glass kind of eggnog looking a little bit [Music] and they have the cocktail culture [Music] cheers the honey isn't very prominent in this but that's because the honey isn't prominent in the yogurt itself i would actually like to perhaps incorporate more honey within the vanilla syrup like a honey vanilla syrup put that in there just to highlight the honey characteristics you get some tartness and some sharpness from that passion fruit a little bit of acidity it's quite [Music] creamy it's an interesting cocktail that's for sure next cocktail is a chichi which is essentially a vodka pina colada and i had some fresh coconuts so i'm going to serve up in a coconut as well i've never cracked a coconut so bear with me if you want to comment below give me some tips on how i should actually do it but from what i've seen use the back of a knife and give it a firm whack and rotate it until it cracks [Music] [Music] it actually works quite well not bad and because i love coconut water so the chichi is a simple three ingredient cocktail consisting of vodka pineapple and a coco lopez or a cream of coconut so this is a diy version i'll leave a link up in the description or up in the card over here as well as the description and it's essentially uh coconut milk uh on the heat with sugar until it dissolves and then add a little pinch of salt so nice nice and easy and much cheaper than buying cans of cream of coconut so 45 mil 1.5 ounces and then pineapple juice there's actually half store-bought pineapple juice half freshly juiced pineapple so 60 ml 2 ounces and the recipe i'm using was i'll give it a shake first just in case the recipe i'm using comes from the 12 bottle bar it does call for 60 mil two ounces of coconut milk syrup which sounds a little bit sweet to me but it could be really young so giving it a crack and i'm gonna shake this one with crushed ice now of course you can buy your tinned cream of coconut if you don't have a coconut to serve it in just serve it in a high bowl over crushed glass if you don't have crushed ice just serve in a hubble easy just a short shake to combine the ingredients it's on crushed ice so it's going to continue to dilute once you transfer it to the drinking vessel of choice so they have a chi chi i probably should garnish it with like a pineapple wedge maybe not you can not like you can put it on the edge so garnish how you how he plays like a typical pina colada pineapple wedge pineapple spear and in this version i'm gonna throw a slice of orange in there as well nice and colorful they have a chichi it definitely is a sweeter version of a collada because it does have a lot of that coconut syrup personally i would prefer to lower that or increase the amount of pineapple juice it is sweet it's very coconut forward but it highlights the pineapple and the coconut and the vodka is a clean spirit so it just hides away in the background [Music] okay so another two cocktails to go so make sure you stick around to the end and i'll let you know which one is my favorite and which one i recommend for you guys to try first of course you can try them all if you like this one is a cucumber gimlet well technically a cucumber vodka gimlet and it calls for six to eight leaves of fresh basil and this is going to be muddled in with the cucumber i probably recommend putting the basil leaves on the bottom and chopping up that cucumber throwing it on top and then just giving it a gentle muddle they're both really soft herbs and vegetables so light muddle and then when you shake it'll impart that flavor even further so this recipe is 60 mil two ounces of vodka straight to the shaker then 15 ml of one to one simple syrup half an ounce and likewise with the fresh lime juice 15 mil half an ounce [Music] now of course if you like it a little bit more acidic more more sour then add that tiny bit more quarter ounce or seven and a half mil so fill your glass with ice throw your shaker with ice and give it a quick shake into a chilled coupe and once again double strain keep all the fine ice shards the pulp and most importantly the little fine pieces of cucumber and basil and that has a beautiful green color to it and the choice for garnish either a cucumber wedge on the side or i'd prefer a small sprig of basil so pretty they have a cucumber vodka gimlet cheers all these cocktails all these vodka based cocktails are dangerously easy to drink especially this one it lets the the basil and the cucumber shine because it's as again it's a clean spirit um personally i'd probably like just that touch more lime juice that little more acidity in that punch but is sensational as it is and very easy to drink onto the last cocktail the boozy arnold palmer so apparently the arnold palmer is popular in some states over in the u.s and it's a combination of tea and lemonade so this is just a boozy version with the addition of vodka and hibiscus syrup so it calls for 45 mil 45 mil double check 1.5 ounces of vodka and we've got a black tea which has just been chilled in the fridge so 75 mil two and a half ounces and this part will give a really nice vibrant color and people in australia will be very familiar with this this brand of wild hibiscus flowers with syrup it used to be really popular serve it with champagne so 22.5 mil three quarter ounce of hibiscus syrup and likewise 22.5 mil three quarter ounce of fresh lemon juice add icing give it a shake and this one is served in a hybrid glass or in my case a footed pilsner glass over crushed ice [Music] and top it with more crushed ice if you need and garnish with your choice i'm going to garnish with a few pineapple spears they have a boozy arnold palmer cheers i really enjoy this i like the the tannins that the tea brings to the cocktail i can't say i've had many if any cocktails with tea and the hibiscus play is really quite nice it's well balanced with the sweetness of the hibiscus and the sourness of the lemon juice all five of these cocktails are super easy to drink and they're perfect summer sippers let me know which one your favorite is in the comments below now which one would i pick or recommend to you guys now out of all these five cocktails which one would i recommend for you to try first i'd probably have to say the boozy arnold palmer that's a personal pick of mine i really like the addition of the tea and it's really quite warm here today so that's a perfect drink for summer but there is something here that will please everyone i'm sure you've got herbaceous you've got creamy you're really vibrant and you got tropical so let me know which one you'd like and i'll see you soon for another cocktail video cheers [Music] [Music] you
