5 Worst Things Batman Has Done To Damian Wayne

damian wayne is batman's son and his robin and though batman has adopted several children and raised them damien is the only blood son which he has raised which does change their dynamics slightly especially since batman was drugged and then raped by talia al ghul in order to conceive damien now since damian is a product of such a violation well it's easy to see why batman would have difficulties with him but even still none of that is damian's fault and because of that batman has tried to look past it but still batman has clearly had difficulty with damien and he has done some truly horrible things to him over the years and this video is going to look at the 5 worst things that batman has done to damien wayne he let deathstroke drown him now in this story damien was abducted by deathstroke and deathstroke let batman knew that he would be torturing him for information or at least interrogating him but it's obviously pretty clear what's going to happen but rather than rescue his son he decided to go and hunt down a bomb in gotham city his logic was that what use is a partner that needs rescuing all the time which makes no sense at all after all what use is a partner who won't rescue you when the bad guys have you by that logic if damian is going to be on his own whenever he's captured he might as well not have a partner at all i mean the whole point is for batman have his back and although you could argue it's a case of oh he believes that damian is good enough to escape on his own and to be fair damien does manage to escape on his own he nearly drowns but then he reveals that he shaved off half of his hair and replaced it with a wig that was hiding an explosive device which is some very impressive preparation really and he then uses it to blow up the tank he was being drowned in and escape and it's actually kind of a weird way of escaping and rather dangerous after all if the bomb can penetrate the tank then it can certainly kill damien wayne but hey this is comics but even though damien was capable enough to escape on his own it's still not the point batman is supposed to be there for him when he's in trouble now i've put this in last place because technically speaking batman didn't do this to him it was deathstroke who actually drowned him batman just did nothing which was kind of worse in a way there's nothing quite like knowing where you stand with someone only to find out you stand in the lowest possible place but it is still pretty bad especially considering the fact that batman doesn't actually know what's happening to damien he knows that deathstroke has him and could be torturing him in any of a dozen different ways but he just leaves him to it and this complete lack of caring on batman's part does really help explain why damian is such an angry loner i mean who wouldn't be the apocalypse war now in this film darkseid conquers the earth and is able to brainwash batman into becoming his loyal servant and batman coordinates most of darkseid's war efforts and operations and when damien goes to try and rescue his father darkseid orders batman to kill him and batman does his best even stabbing him through the leg with a sword although to be fair he was under darkseid's mind control when he does it which does diminish his responsibility but still he did stab his son through the fight with a sword and try to murder him even though technically it was darkseid who ordered damian's death but either way it's still pretty messed up especially since damien saves his life 10 seconds later by taking a dark side omega blast to the body not much more to be said about this really it's a pretty straightforward moment of child abuse of course it's far from the only time they've actually fought they fought several times over the years but this is probably the most severe as batman is really trying to kill him whereas every other time they fought in the past batman doesn't actually want to hurt damien so he's held back but this time batman didn't hold back at all which is of course why he was able to hurt damien so much and clearly show once and for all that if the two of them actually did fight batman would win hands down he blames damian for dick grayson's murder and then disowns him now to be fair in the injustice universe damien did kill dick grayson he didn't mean to admittedly it was a sort of accident for the full story check out the links in this video's description but still damien did actually kill him and it is his fault but the real problem here isn't the batman blames damian it's how he treats damien afterwards true damian is an obnoxious little brat but he's also batman's son and batman should have tried to patch things up between them and forgiven him instead of demonizing him alienating him and pushing him further and further down a dark path that eventually ends up with damian killing even more people although to be fair at least the rest were super villains and although this version of damien wayne is pretty much a lost cause the point is that batman still should have tried to be there for him as a parent and bring him towards the light but instead he just casts him aside and i also should say there really is no such thing as a lost cause yeah alright you can do some very bad things in life but you can always turn it around i mean a superhero out of all of us should know that and even dick grayson doesn't blame damien and doesn't hold a grudge and he was the one who was actually killed we know this because when dick grayson comes back as a ghost in the comic it's actually not too bad a story even though it sounds a bit out there but when he comes back he not only forgives damien but he uses his ghost powers to actually save his life and even passes on the mantle of nightwing to him and if dick grayson can forgive damien wayne for killing him then i see no reason why batman can't after all he may have loved it grayson but dick grayson is the one who was wronged and the one who was killed so really batman man up pretty much everything in batman vs robin first of all batman wrongfully accuses damian of murdering the doll maker which makes no sense since in the son of batman film damien actually turned his back on killing in fact he didn't even get revenge on deathstroke who had killed his grandfather and damian loved his grandfather but instead he let deathstroke live so why would he suddenly be killing again especially just some random villain who hasn't even hurt him personally if he was gonna go on the killing path he'd definitely go after deathstroke so this makes no sense and then later on batman refuses to let damien be robin which in some respects is a good decision as kids shouldn't be fighting super villains but the way batman goes about doing it is to lock damien up like a prisoner and then set up some crazy little booby traps that nearly impales damien and then electrocutes him and sends him flying even though batman had already agreed in son of batman to let him be robin so this is just a very confusing scene and basically batman just seems to have gone back on his word and of course later on batman actually beats damian up which is in a way understandable i mean who doesn't want to hit that kid he can be so annoying at times but he is his father and as such batman should not be hitting his son though i do have to say that damien did throw the first punch and attacked batman so what else could batman have done well he could have not gotten into a fist fight with his son damian is not the first kid to hit his father but the trick is not to just start punching them back it's to talk to them and de-escalate the situation you don't just start punching the hell out of each other i mean if you do then the government needs to take that child away from you because you should not have that child but worst of all at the end of the film he lets his adolescent son just go off into the world alone to live in the mountains with some monks i mean what the hell this is a kid who clearly needs to learn to socialize and hang out with kids his own age you can't just send him off alone i mean it's completely illegal for a start and just incredibly irresponsible and quite frankly just insanely stupid they've been making all this progress and then they're just gonna throw it all away not to mention the fact that at the start of the film he refuses to let him run off and fight crime but at the end of the film he thinks it's fine to just release him into the wild and let him do whatever the hell he wants it really makes no sense and it may just be bad writing but it's still a terrible thing for a father to do to his son which leads me to the next point he's a terrible father ultimately this is the worst thing that batman has done to damien he's just not been there for him now to be fair bruce wayne was drugged and raped by talia al ghul and that is how damien wayne was conceived and batman didn't even know he existed until he was 10. so he never wanted to have damien and he never intended to have him so taking all of that into account it is understandable that being damien's father would be rather difficult for bruce wayne but nevertheless he decided to raise damian and took him in and so he has to step up and take care of him he needs to be a father because that is exactly what damian needs guidance compassion and love and yet in batman vs robin he just lets damien go off into the world alone he's essentially just abandoning damien and even though damien himself did want to leave that is irrelevant he is a child a capable child to be sure but he's still just a child and batman is his father and as such he needs to treat him accordingly a lot of kids want to leave home and a lot of kids do run away from home but that doesn't mean you just abandon them they need to be supported and taken care of and really that's the worst thing that batman does to damien instead of treating him like a son he treats him like a soldier and that is a mistake he's made with a lot of the other robins but you think by this point he would have worked it out especially since damien is the one who needs the most from batman because he had the worst childhood and doesn't even know how to begin to integrate into society at least the others had loving parents and had a life damien was always raised to be a soldier and what he needs the most is to see what it means and how to be human and i'll admit the batman is not exactly the best person to teach him emotion but still he's all he's got so he needs to do this and yet he doesn't and he does this in so many different versions of damien wayne's character he just treats him as though he's not actually his son in injustice he offers him little to no support and just gives up to him immediately he barely even tries and some of you may think that this doesn't sound as bad as him stabbing damien in the leg with a sword but really it's actually much much worse emotional trauma lingers for far longer than physical trauma you'd think batman would get that since watching his parents being murdered in front of him has scarred his psyche for life and yet batman doesn't understand that and keeps repeatedly making these mistakes with all of his robins and it is without a doubt the worst thing that he has done for damien because the one thing that damian needs more than anything else is a father and it's the one thing that batman always seems to fall short of delivering and those are the five worst things that batman has done to damien wayne personally i'd say the worst case of him just abandoning his son is in the injustice universe as batman treats his son like a murderer and
