5 Reasons Why OMEGA is BETTER than Rolex

is Omega better than Rolex so if you follow this channel you know I'm a Rolex person I'm a Rolex fan girl through and through I think they've mastered the art of making a wearable stainless steel sports watch their proportions are perfect their bracelet clasps size ranges the way they treat and brush their stainless steel these are the things that keep me coming back to Rolex and as a brand they just work for me but with Rolexes let's call it availability Challenge and overall push towards luxury I keep finding myself being pushed deeper and deeper into the Omega catalog in fact my favorite watch I reviewed in the last year was the Neo vintage Omega Seamaster reference 22 5450 so today I thought let's talk about the five reasons why I would say Omega is better than Rolex so number one is omega's movement technology and most notably the coaxial escapement now this is a real standout thing about Omega and the real reason why I put them at number one I think this is the biggest reason why someone could argue that Omega is better than a lot of mid-price luxury watch brands the investment they've made into their movements is insane so if you're new to watches or you don't know them quite as well the movement is the mechanical soul of a watch it is all the parts inside the watch the gears the escapement jewels everything that's working in concert to make this timepiece work and if the movement is the soul the escapement is the Beating Heart it is the piece that dictates what pace the energy is released from the mainspring and onto the oscillator traditionally and even still now the Swiss liver escapement has always looked the same with the two palettes but this new escapement invented by the great George Daniels uses three pallets that separate the Locking functions from the impulses theoretically making lubrication unnecessary I know this sounds boring and dorky and I'm so sorry I'm putting this at the beginning of the video I know but I cannot overstate how important this Innovation is it might be the greatest Innovation ever made to the escapement the coaxial escapement is now a Hallmark of Omega first introduced in 1999 and still used today I know it sounds boring but omega's movement technology and Innovations is massive and while we're on the topic of innovation we need to talk about number two omega's high horology timepieces Omega experiments in high horology and complicated watchmaking in a way I don't think they get enough credit for and I could never see Rolex doing in their current catalog they have a tourbillon and most notably the two new Chrono Chimes omega's most complicated movement sporting a split chronograph and chime through the five o'clock pusher deals I can't even I can't even wrap my head around a Chrono chime but it's amazing but my one criticism of Omega High horology timepieces is I just don't think they're delivering what their core audience is after and I think this is sometimes where things get blurry between making a product that your audience wants and artistically challenging yourselves on the one hand watch manufacturers want to create pieces of art they want to challenge themselves and these are beautiful don't get me wrong but then on the other hand if I had four hundred thousand pound laying about I'm not sure I'd be spending it on a 45 millimeter Omega if I had that kind of money I'd be buying every single Cartier Santos in a cloche and maybe even a crash okay moving on to the next thing Omega has over Rolex and that's their price point if you are comparing a Rolex with its Omega counterpart you are going to see a golf in the price tag comparing the Seamaster diver to the Submariner Speedmaster to Daytona the ultra deep to the Deep the deep sea challenge I'm sorry I'm sorry it's so horrible Rolex I love you but it's horrible but the Omega price point is always more attractive and I think there's a lot to say for that but with that said it does feel like Omega is in the spot of figuring out if they want to lean more into the luxury side and price similarly to Rolex or if they want to remain that Rough and Ready to watch brand that is happy to undercut Rolex watching The Omega prices go up at the moment oh breaks my heart but this isn't just an Omega thing this is an industry-wide thing reason four that I would say Omega is better than Rolex and this goes hand in hand with the price point their availability so you've finally done it you've saved your money you're celebrating a big milestone you got that big promotion at work and you want to buy yourself that watch you've always wanted to celebrate you go to your authorized dealer and quickly realize none of the Rolexes are for sale but then you've got Omega which to my mind has all the same name brand power as Rolex similar watchmaking standards and you can actually buy it right now did you like those animations I bet it's hard to believe I did that myself this is one of those things that I would say plays to omega's Advantage and disadvantage simultaneously to our rational brain having a watch that is down to earth and actually available to buy is far more desirable but then to our caveman reptile brain there's something about exclusivity that makes us want it more or maybe this is just me maybe this is you guys getting an inside look into how my brain works but as soon as you say nah you can't have that my brain starts being like well why not I'm gonna show you get my name on that waiting list I'm very simple and the last reason why I would say Omega is better than Rolex is the lack of hype there is so much less hype with these watches which means it doesn't attract the hype boys or the people with two brain cells like me who think exclusivity is cool Omega attracts much more of the true Enthusiast or the person who has done their research and they're making an informed choice I think there's something so cool about the not obvious choice that quiet luxury that quiet good taste Choice when I see someone wearing a speed master or a Seamaster it communicates something about them it's a language with no words and it's a far
