[Music] well hello everybody welcome we're glad you're here before we begin I would like to mention that the first seven presentations in this series are contained in this book that I wrote a few years ago it's called future isms incredible journey now this evening we have session number five and also session number six and then in our next presentations number seven will conclude the material that is found in this book in the book there is much more material than what I'm able to present here so I would encourage you to obtain a copy of this book future isms incredible journey where there's a lot of documentation and a lot of additional material at this time we want to have a word of Prayer to ask the Lord to bless our study together so let's bow our heads for prayer father in heaven we thank you for this wonderful beautiful day and we ask that as we open your word that your Holy Spirit will hover over this place open our minds and hearts give us understanding and help us to receive the message and to help others understand the prophetic times that we're living in we thank you for hearing our prayer for we ask it in Jesus name Amen in our last study we noticed how the Roman Catholic papacy threw two of its able scholars shifted the interpretation of Bible prophecy from the papacy as the Antichrist to Antiochus Epiphanes and Nero or a future Antichrist that supposedly will arrive at the end of the age in this way the papacy as we've noticed intended or attempted to change God's times because the word times refers to God's sequence of prophetic events which we've already noticed the method is the historical method or the historicist method where you have prophecy beginning in the days of the Prophet and then prophecy fulfilled step after step culminating with the setting up of Christ's everlasting kingdom the papacy totally shifted and changed that way of understanding prophecy and it was very successful in getting rid of historicism among most Protestants in the world now for the 300 years after the Protestant Reformation began in 1517 when Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door and of the cathedral in Wittenberg Protestants remained faithful to their prophetic principles but in the decade of the 1830s and I want you to mark that date it's a very important date in the decade of the 1830s in Great Britain there was a shift in the Protestant understanding of Bible prophecy the apostasy from historicism began around the year 1826 when an Anglican scholar by the name of Samuel Maitland wrote a series of pamphlets in the title of those pamphlets was inquiries in these pamphlets this Protestant Anglican scholar Samuel Maitland actually stated that the papacy did not fulfill the specifications of the Antichrist prophecies he said that Antichrist would be an individual that would rebuild the literal Jerusalem temple he would sit in the literal temple for three and a half literal years and he would persecute the literal Jews and so basically was exonerating the papacy from fulfilling the prophecy concerning the Antichrist very soon other scholars of the Anglican Communion joined Samuel Maitland in exonerating the Roman Catholic papacy from fulfilling the Antichrist prophecies I'd like to mention two of those Anglican scholars that in the 1830s shifted the interpretation of Bible prophecy and it's Antichrist from the papacy to Nero and Antiochus or to a future Antichrist one of those scholars was Robert Berg and I'd like to reason reads three statements by Robert Berg who was an Anglican you know the Anglican Church was a Protestant Church that still is supposedly although they've gotten very close to the Roman Catholic papacy but I want to read you three statements of Robert Berg who joined Samuel Maitland in stating that the papacy did not fulfill the Antichrist prophecies Robert Berg wrote and by the way he lived from 1800 to 1866 his first statement says first that the man of sin is not popery appears from the necessity that this chapter that's Daniel 7 be understood of an individual and not of a power or office vested in numbers or held by succession so basically what he's saying is the man of sin of second Thessalonians 2 and the little Horn of Daniel chapter 7 will be an individual it is not a power or an office vested in numbers or held by succession in a second statement he wrote the following and I quote I would say that an individual is intended one person whose pretensions live and die with himself so it's not a system it's not the Roman Catholic papacy that ruled for hundreds of years actually 1260 years he says no the Antichrist will be a single individual and he stated whose pretensions live and die with himself and in the third statement he wrote the following secondly the nature of these same act and present pretensions prove that the man of sin is not the Pope so he's saying the actions of the Roman Catholic system does not allow the Pope to be the fulfillment of these Antichrist prophecies another notable scholar from the Anglican Communion who followed Samuel Maitland as well as Robert Berg was James Todd he lived from 1805 to 1869 in 1838 he wrote a very influential document the title of it was discourses on the prophesies relating to Antichrist in the writings of Daniel and Saint Paul that's a long title you know when they wrote books back then they put long titles and even longer subtitles so the name of the book was discourses and the prophecies related to Antichrist in the writings of Daniel and Saint Paul so basically he's dealing with Paul's comments on 2nd Thessalonians 2 and on the prophecies of Daniel 7 what did James Todd say first he said Antichrist is an individual who will appear shortly before the second coming of Jesus Christ secondly Antichrist will sit in a rebuilt Jerusalem temple then he said Antichrist will rule for 1260 literal days and another thing which he said which is very significant the fourth kingdom of Daniel 7 was not the Roman Empire do you remember that we dealt with that and we noticed that Rivera had that same argument that the fourth kingdom is not the Roman Empire and also the preterists he also stated that the Roman Catholic Church was a true Church a true Christian Church so his argument was if the Roman Catholic Church does not fulfill the Antichrist prophecies and it is a true Christian Church why shouldn't the Anglican Church join with the Catholics let me just read you three statements from the writings of James Todd they're short statements but they tell us his concept of the Antichrist the first statement state says and I quote Romanism is not properly an apostasy from the faith so he's saying that the Roman Catholic theology is not an apostasy from the faith in the second statement and I quote he said or wrote the errors of Romanism do not amount to apostasy and in the third statement he wrote the Church of Rome is a true Christian Church the reason why he could say this is because once again he projected all of the Antichrist prophecies to the Future to a single individual who was going to rebuild a Jewish temple he was going to rule for 1260 literal days and he was going to persecute the literal Jews so he said if the Antichrist is going to be an individual in the future right before the second coming of Christ then the papacy does not fulfill any of the Antichrist prophecies well around this same time between the Year 1833 and 1845 and I want you to mark the date we're going to talk in our next presentation about something that was happening at the same time in the United States of America the millerite movement that's very very significant we're going to see but at the same time a movement arose whose name was the Oxford tract Aryan movement basically it was called a tract Aryan movement because 90 tracts of the times as they were called were published during this period basically these pamphlets made it clear that it was their desire of the scholars of the Anglican Communion to deep Protestant eyes the Church of England and in these crafts these influential men such as Berg and Todd and Maitland and others wrote that the papacy was a true Christian Church and that the specifications of Antichrist did not fit the papacy the arguments and these tracks were literalistic they dealt with a single individual at the end of time who would be the Antichrist and so these tracks said if this is true that the papacy doesn't fit the specifications of Antichrist then why can't the Anglican Communion simply join forces with the Roman Catholic Church you see when they forgot Bible prophecy the result was that they exaggerated the papacy from fulfilling Bible prophecy and they say why not join them now one of the notable individuals who wrote actually he wrote 27 or 29 of these tracks for the times was an individual called John Henry Newman now he was a prolific writer he was an Anglican minister he was also a scholar of the Anglican Communion and in here in these 29 tracts of the 90 tracts of the times he said the Protestant Reformation was a tragic mistake and he openly advocated the need for the Anglican Church to return to mother to return to the Roman Catholic Church by the way Henry Newman later we're going to notice became a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church he forsook the Church of England in the year 1843 in 1845 he was received into the Roman Catholic Communion in 1846 he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest and in 1879 he was named a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church and for those of you who are versed in history John Henry Cardinal Newman is a very significant and influential figure in England at this time now we also need to take a look at another event that was happening in another place and then we're going to return to England it just so happens that there was an individual and this individual is actually mentioned by Ellen White his name Emmanuel laocoön son he was born in Chile and he was a member of the Jesuit Order now we're not in England in the 1830s now we're dealing with an individual and you're gonna see why I mentioning him now who was born in Chile he was a member of the Jesuit Order and he wrote a very famous book the name of the book was love any level Macias and Gloria mi stud now for those of you who are not acquainted with Spanish that means the coming of the Messiah in glory and majesty he wrote this book in chilling however his book somehow arrived in England around the same time that John Henry Newman and James Todd and Robert Berg were shifting the Protestant interpretation of the Antichrist now this book written by a man will lacunae had several basic views and I want you to remember that he's a Jesuit you remember that alcazar the preterist was a Jesuit you will remember that Rivera was a Jesuit you'll remember that Robert bellermine was a Jesuit and now you have a Manuela cuenca also a Jesuit I think that the Jesuits are the ones that are behind this shift in Bible prophecy but basically what was taught by La Concha was first of all revelation chapter 4 through chapter 22 is still future from the time that he wrote in other words nothing that is in Revelation 4 to 22 actually had been fulfilled when once I lived in the 1830s he also taught that the 3 and 1/2 times of Antichrist rule were literal years he also taught that Christ will literally reign on earth during the Millennium during the thousand years he thought that the hundred and forty-four thousand would be literal Jews the temple in which the Antichrist would sit would be a literal rebuilt Jewish temple and in that temple he stated that during the thousand years literal animal sacrifices would be offered in other words the sacrificial system would be reestablished and he also stated that the literal Jews during this period would be regathered and converted during the millennium and that God would literally fulfill his covenant with a literal Jewish nation does that sound like the Protestant interpretation of Bible prophecy does that sound like the Adventist interpretation of Bible prophecy it's radically different in every detail the only thing that lacunae got right is that Jesus is coming before the beginning of the millennium daddy got right and Ellen White when she writes about la cosa she says that he was right on that specific point by mentioning lacunae she's not saying that everything that lacunae thought was kosher or was true you know Ellen White also had some things to say complimentary about Martin Luther and Martin Luther didn't keep the Sabbath and he really believed that the dead weren't dead among other things so Ellen White when she says that get God used Luther and inspired Luther to do his work were not to understand that everything that loser Luther believed and everything that he did was correct she's mentioning one specific point now let's return to England remember the book that was written by laocoon so with all these futurist ideas this Jesuit made it to England at the same time that the Oxford tract Aryan movement was taking place now in England at this time also the church was in a tear condition the Anglican Church had become dry formal and stagnant and several men decided that they wanted to bring revival to the Anglican Communion and so in 1825 these men several of them established what is known as the Plymouth Brethren and the reason why they're called the Plymouth Brethren is because they actually formed the movement in Plymouth England and their purpose was to bring revival to the Anglican Church now this organization or this Plymouth Brethren had two notable figures that had a great impact on the interpretation of the prophecies regarding Antichrist one of them was Edward Irving and the other one was John Nelson Darby they belonged to the Plymouth Brethren it's very interesting that Edward Irving who belonged to the Plymouth Brethren actually received a copy of La Koontz's book because he himself says so and he translated laocoön sus book into English because it was written in Spanish and laocoön says book tremendously impacted Edward Irving and in Irving of course impacted the other men that belonged to the Plymouth Brethren now as Irving read Laocoon sus book and was translating Laocoon says book he said there's something very strange about the book of Revelation the first three chapters mentioned the church the seven churches but beginning in chapter four all the way from chapter 19 there's not a single reference to the church he says it seems like the church in cat chapters four through nineteen is totally absent so I said how can we explain that the first three chapters are all about the church age and yet chapter four through nineteen there's not even one reference to the church and so he struggled with that until one day he was in church and he had an ecstatic utterance you know what an ecstatic utterance is it's like he's he's making an utterance under the influence of a spirit now there was an individual who were present there samuel Prideaux Trishelle he was present at that meeting and he wrote the following about how Irving came to his conclusions regarding why revelation 4 through 19 did not mention the church I want to read now from Samuel Prideaux treasurer he wrote the following I am not aware that there was any definite teaching that there would be a secret rapture of the church had a secret coming until this was given forth as an utterance in mr. Irving's church from what was there received as being the voice of the Spirit but whether anyone ever asserted such a thing or not it was from that supposed revelation that the modern doctrine and modern phraseology arose that is the phraseology about the rapture of the church he continues it came not from Holy Scripture but from that which falsely pretended to be the Spirit of God so now because of this utterance Irving says I know why revelation 4 through 19 doesn't make any reference to the church because the church is gone at that time the church has got to have it in the rapture in fact futurists they will go to Revelation chapter 4 and verse 1 and we'll come back to this a little bit later on in this series and in Revelation 4 verse 1 God says to John come up hither and so they say when when John was told come up hither that is describing the rapture of the church in revelation 4 verse 1 and they say that the rest of Revelation for all the way from chapter 19 all of those events are taking place while the church is gone well the church went in the rapture to heaven so now Edward Irving had his explanation as to why the church doesn't is not mentioned in chapters 4 through 19 it's because everything in those chapters deals with what happens on earth after the church is in heaven are you following me or not now it's it's not a coincidence though that a writer that still lives and has a television program his name is Hal Lindsey any of you ever heard of Hal Lindsey he's written many books from a totally futurist perspective and one book which is very interesting it's called vanished into thin air you can imagine what it's about it's about the rapture of the church and basically what he says is that while he was writing that book which is riddled with error with futurism he stated the following that happened to him while he was writing the book there were times that I experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit in such power then I went into an ecstatic state and so what he's saying is that this book is not based on a study and interpretation of Scripture this book is actually based on as he says an ecstatic state experience similar to what Edward Irving had in his church you know you cannot go by impressions he says that he had prayed for the spirit and that in this ecstatic utterance the Holy Spirit spoke to him well the fact is folks that pope john paul ii also prayed many hours a day and he believed that sunday is that they were supposed to keep as the day of rest and he also believed that mary was alive in heaven and protecting him a lot of Prayer does not necessarily mean that what you're right is true we have to check everything that we teach based on what is written in Scripture another individual that was a member of the Plymouth Brethren was John Nelson Darby in this individual we could consider the father of futurism modern futurism in Protestantism I'd like to describe how Cardinal Newman's brother described the physical appearance of John Nelson Darby this is how he described the physical appearance of Darby this is Saad Newman's brother a most remarkable man who rapidly gained an immense sway over me his bodily presence was indeed weak a fallen cheek a bloodshot eye crippled limbs resting on crutches a seldom shaven beard a shabby suit of clothes and a generally neglected person drew at first pity with wonder to see such a figure in a drawing room now don't be fooled by Darby's physical appearance he was tremendously influential in futurism penetrating into Protestantism Darby did not believe that history is important in the study of Bible prophecy he wrote the following i do not admit history to be in any sense necessary to the understanding of prophecy that's a remarkable statement you know which we don't need to know history in order to interpret prophecy the historical mess admit that is based on knowing history we begin with Babylon medo-persia Greece Rome Rome is divided then appears a little horn 1260 years the belly wound the belly wound is healed we follow the historical trajectory history is vitally important but the problem is futurists have an interesting way of dealing with the Antichrist prophecies they say that all prophecy was fulfilled all of Daniel 7 was fulfilled until the four beast and tell the roman empire but they say that the roman empire was never divided according to the specifications of the prophecy and therefore because it's not been divided in the future a 10 nation roman federation a revived Roman Empire is going to appear and then the Antichrist is going to come up among that 10 nation Federation in the future after the church is in heaven so if you have a gap of two thousand years basically between the 4th Empire and the rise of the Antichrist during that time you have a historical vacuum there's nothing that occurs during that period you have no reference point to know when the Antichrist is going to appear are you following me or not so he says history is not important at all Darby also dichotomized the church and Israel he said that God has two different plans one plan for Israel for literal Israel and the other plan for the Christian Church I want to read once again what Darby wrote I believe that God's purpose for Israel and its purpose for the church are so distinct and mutually exclusive that they cannot both be enforced on earth at the same time especially during the seven-year tribulation if this is so then the church must be removed before God can deal specifically again with Israel as defined in in Daniels prophecy he's referring to the prophecy of the 70 weeks in Daniel 9 so basically what he's saying in this quotation is that God has one plan for literal Israel and he has another plan for the church and when the Jews rejected Christ at the first coming God put his plans for literal Israel on hold and they been on hold for the last two thousand years and we've been living in the times of the Gentiles and when the church is raptured to heaven then God will start his plan and once again for literal Israel on earth and so he dichotomized he radically made a distinction between Israel and the church two different plans of God no Darby travelled to the United States from England six times between 1859 and 1874 he had written several books which he brought to the United States as he visited those six times but Darby's books at first had very little influence in the United States they basically gathered dust on the shelves of the libraries that is until a certain individual discovered his books one day the name of that individual was C i Scofield Cyrus Ingerson Scofield has anybody ever heard of CI Scofield you see he discovered I in one of the book stands a book that was written by Darby and he read it and he said wow this is the way that we should be interpreting prophecy now Scofield was converted in the Year 1879 he pastored a large Congregational Church in Dallas Texas he became an avid believer of Darby's futurism in 1888 he published a book that is still famous among those who believe the future is scenario the name of the book was rightly dividing the word of truth he also began a monthly publication which was published for many many years called the believer he also taught in Dwight Moody's Bible School and thousands of Ministers Protestant ministers went through Moody Bible School and were taught by him he also organized Bible conferences all across the United States in other words this was not a lightweight individual he was the Evangelist if you please for Darby's point of but the most influential thing that Scofield did was write actually composed because he did write the Bible but he added footnotes in what is known as the Scofield reference Bible which was published in 1909 this Bible is still the Bible of choice of Protestants that have a futurist perspective of Bible prophecy it is a Bible that in the prophetic sections has footnotes explaining Bible texts from a futurist perspective so when you go to Daniel 8 the little horn is Antiochus Epiphanes and it goes into an explanation when you go to Revelation chapter 13 well the Antichrist the Beast is going to be an individual who who will rise at the end of the age the texts that seem to indicate that the temple will be revealed he says see the temple will be rebuilt after the rapture of the church and so this annotated Bible had all sorts of notes explaining the prophecies from a futurist perspective and it became the Bible of choice for conservative Protestants Pentecostals charismatics and evangelicals now I'd like to read a statement by Richard Kyle he was once a futurist in fact he belonged to the Plymouth Brethren because the Plymouth Brethren did not only exist in England in in the 1830s they continued even till the time went when Richard Kyle wrote this is what he says about the Scofield reference Bible Scofield's enduring legacy rests in his reference bible published in 1909 expanded in 1917 and revised in 1967 sales of this Bible total about 10 million when he's writing this he's writing this about 20 years ago the Scofield Bible immediately became the standard of dispensationalism and for 90 years has been the major vehicle for distributing dispensational ideas dispensational is the same as futurist ideas Rivera's ideas the idea of the rapture of the church the rebuilding of the Jewish temple the little literal three and a half years and a personal Antichrist rising at the end of the age now there has been a phenomenal growth of futurism among conservative Protestants in the United States and that is due to five factors the first factor is what I just mentioned the Scofield reference Bible has extended futurism far and wide the second way in which futurism has expanded in the United States is through television evangelists you can turn on your television any Sunday morning in the United States I don't know if you you I know Hawaii's part of the United States but you're a long ways from the main land of the United States I don't know if you have those programs here but individuals like John Hagee for example they give series and Bible prophecy from a futurist perspective so television evangelist in the United States time and again they share in their sermons this viewers futurist scenario also fiction and nonfiction books like the Left Behind series that was published several years ago has proliferated tremendously this future is perspective the fourth factor is the the creation of thriller movies such as Left Behind the Omega Code Armageddon tribulation force etc these popular Hollywood style movies they actually present the theory of the rapture and of course people don't take it as a theory they actually consider it to be fact and of course the final factor is the forming of thousands and thousands of Ministers in institutions such as Moody Bible Institute and Dallas Theological Seminary probably you've heard of the Left Behind series it was published in 12 volumes it sold over 80 million copies and it was on the New York Times bestseller list for months and months if not years let me read here what Jerry Jenkins had to say about the Left Behind book series I think it had something like 12 volumes and from a futurist perspective it was written like a novel but their purpose was to get the impression that it was gospel truth Jerry Jenkins who was one of the co-authors the other one was Tim LaHaye wrote the following the purpose was to encourage the church and persuade unbelievers we have found that people are reading the Bible again because of it and many have become believers believers in what believers in the Futurists perspective through this series that called sold over 80 million copies and by the way when these books came out politicians in Washington DC were reading these books and assimilating the content of these books Tim LaHaye who was one of co-authors of this series of books also wrote concerning the purpose of them and I quote I'm hearing from church pastors all over the world by the way at this point when he wrote this the books had been translated into 14 languages so this was not only the United States the books had gone worldwide so once again I'm hearing from church pastors all over the world and they're telling me that the books are the best evangelistic tools they've ever seen it's gratifying to see so much interest in this story because of any of the major world religions Christianity has the most exciting story to tell about the future are you catching the picture futurism has overwhelmed Protestantism due to all of the factors that have been mentioning now the number of futurist ministers and theologians is legion let me say something about the television evangelist and there are many other let me just mention some Hal Lindsey Tim LaHaye grant Jeffery John Hagee Benny Hinn jack van impe who passed away by the way Jack Lalande the late Dave hunt david jeremiah zola levitt pat robertson randall play price Dwight Pentecost and even Jerry Falwell while he was alive all of these individuals tremendously influential leaders in the evangelical movement all had programs where they were pushing this futurist scenario of Bible prophecy you know some of these individuals have taken Bible prophecy to a ridiculous extreme let me mention one example grant Jeffries wrote a book and the title of the book was the signature of God the handwriting of God and basically what he says in that book is that the the books of Daniel revelation and the whole Bible have a secret code and you can determine the code by counting words forwards and backwards and you can discover all kinds of interesting details about events that have happened in history in that book he says that I have discovered a code that reveals the death of princes dying from biblical times the plague of AIDS the assassination of Franz Joseph the first of Austria the peace process between Israel and the PLO the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin the Gulf War and he said I even discovered in this secret code of the Bible the names America George Bush general Schwarzkopf the Scud B missile and Russia whoo-hah wasn't that interesting he also claims that in that book anyway then he found the secret code then revealed the name Oklahoma City and the name Timothy McVeigh Oklahoma and even the day and the hour where that bomb exploded there at the Oklahoma City Federal Building he says that the day 19 and 9th hour he could discover by just studying the secret code that is fine found behind the surface of scripture needless to say the Bible does not reveal trivia like this the Bible is concerned with the large events of human history not with curiosities and it's ironic to me that an individual like him can find hidden cryptic secret veiled subliminal messages and he cannot figure out something as simple as which is the right day to go to church now let me say something about Dave hunt David was a futurist he died but it was not a run-of-the-mill futurist he actually wrote two books two variant looks but two very influential books when it comes to this specific issue we're talking about one was a woman rides the beast and the other was global peace and in the in these two books he openly states without political correctness that the papacy is the great harlot of Revelation chapter 17 that's different than the many futurism to say something like that now I want a quote from him about him identifying the papacy as the harlot and I quote he says some suggest that the Vatican will move to Babylon in Iraq when it is rebuilt but why should it the Vatican has been fulfilling John's vision from its location in Rome for the past 15 centuries moreover we have shown the connection to ancient Babylon which the Vatican has maintained down throughout history in a pagan eyes Christianity it has promulgated as for ancient Babylon itself it wasn't even exist that's during the past twenty three hundred years to reign over the kings of the earth Babylon lay in ruins while pagan Rome and later Catholic Rome the new Babylon was indeed reigning over Kings so he's saying Babylon is not literal babbling babbling is the papacy so my question is this if Babylon is the papacy and Babylon was the deadly enemy of God's people why would babble and be spiritual and Israel be literal because he says Israel is literal but Babylon is spiritual let me read you another statement that he made God is foretelling his final judgment upon a great evil which began at the Tower of Babel and which has only grown as politics religion and science have become more sophisticated until finally the whole world is united in the pursuit of Satan's ancient line this is the Babylon revived and headquartered in Rome that will be destroyed never to be inhabited again so he's saying Babylon is Saturday in Rome now wait a minute to say that you would have to say that Babylon is not literal but it's symbolic so if Babylon is symbolic of a worldwide apostate system why would Israel the enemy of Babylon be literal Israel in the Middle East are you understanding what I'm saying he's inconsistent now Dave Hunt believed that the four world empires would be the umpires that we as seventh-day Adventist believe Babylon medo-persia Greece and Rome now let's notice when he had to say about the four kingdoms in Daniel chapter 7 Daniel explained that Nebuchadnezzar represented by the head of gold was the ruler of the first world empire the three other parts of the image made of silver brass and iron foreshadowed three more world empires that would follow as its successors in a later vision Daniel would be given the name of the second world empire medo-persia and details concerning the third kingdom which clearly identified it as the Grecian Empire the fourth world empire of course would be wrong that much is history and so you say good he believes just like Adventist but when you get to the fourth Kingdom Dave Hunt says the prophecy of Daniel 7 was only fulfilled to that point from their point on there have been two thousand years almost two thousand years where prophecy has been put on hold in other words Daniel 7 did not continue fulfilling immediately after the fourth Empire but there's been a gap between the fourth Empire and the ten horns which he says is a Roman ten nation Federation at the end of time now let me read what he has to say about this gap of 1900 to 2000 years he wrote this obviously what the toes represent has not yet come to pass says the toes of the image that hasn't taken place yet God's kingdom was not established in the days of these ten Kings furthermore and this is amazing the Antichrist never appeared to take the reigns of the ancient Roman Empire that's amazing he said there's no evidence that a nasty individual took the reigns of the Empire after the Empire was divided in ten kingdoms so he says Antichrist has not yet appeared you know it's sad that Dave Hunt would say something like this or write something like this for the simple reason that he describes Antichrist and his description of Antichrist is very accurate why could he not see then that the papacy had fulfilled the Antichrist prophecies when he describes the papacy in detail let me read you that statement it's following his book global peace pages seven and eight while the prefix anti general mean generally means again are opposed to you know you when we say anti we say it means against so he says while the Greek prefix anti generally means against or opposed to it can also mean in the place of or a substitute for the Antichrist will embody both meanings he will oppose Christ while pretending to be Christ instead of a frontal assault against Christianity the Evil One will pervert the church from within by posing as its founder he will cunningly misrepresent Christ while pretending to be Christ and right here is where the plot thickens if the Antichrist will indeed pretend to be Christ then his followers must be Christians are you understanding what he's saying and yet he can't say that the papacy fulfilled the Antichrist prophecies because he's all caught up in this I say my dia that we noticed that futurism the futurism of Ribera and bellermine and all of these individuals and roles at england in the 1830s the idea that the fourth kingdom was fulfilled but then the ten nation federation never rose and therefore the antichrist never rose for the next two thousand years and therefore antichrist has not appeared and yet he describes perfectly what the antichrist is like in fact hunt goes so far as to say that the reformers were wrong about their interpretation of Antichrist let me read that statement it's in the book global peace page 47 he admits what the Reformers believe he wrote the Reformers and their creeds were unanimous the Reformers and their creeds were what unanimous in identifying each Pope as the Antichrist Scripture however does not support that claim the Antichrist is a unique individual without predecessors or successors so what is saying this Protestant evangelical is saying that Martin Luther and John Calvin and Ulrich Zwingli and melanchthon and John Haase and Wycliffe and Tim Bell they were all wrong in their interpretation of the Antichrist he's saying that the Antichrist is a single individual that will rise in the future what tremendous blindness and the reason why is because Protestantism has forsaken the method the proper method of interpreting Bible prophecy the historicist method you see the historicist method is very very simple it's not complicated you just follow the chain link by link a Bible prophecy without gaps without any parentheses if you please you know we've studied it you have Babylon then medo-persia rises when Babylon Falls then you have Greece when medo-persia Falls you have wrong when Greece Falls and then Rome without any gaps of 2000 years Rome sprouts 10 horns the divisions of Western Europe and then when the ten horns are complete in the year 476 then in the Year 538 the papacy rises to power it rules 1260 years 1798 the state turns against it and it receives its deadly wound for a while it is convalescing but at the same time that it receives a deadly wound another beast is rising from the earth the United States so when the first beast is falling the second beast is rising to fulfill the next stage of Bible prophecy are you with me or not and so you can follow the trajectory of prophecy all the way from the times of Daniel from Babylon all the way till the end of time when you use the historians method but when you use the futurist method you are navigating a sea without compass and without anchor the bottom line is folks that hunts view as well as the view of most futurists today harmonizes perfectly with the Roman Catholic papacy x'v you a Bible prophecy the church will be removed at the rapture of course the Roman Catholic Church they created this system but their preterists no but they also created through back through a bellermine and through Rivera the futurist method but that's not the method that they stuck with they stuck with preterism however they were the ones that created this counterfeit scenario of futurism so basically the church will be removed from earth at the rapture Antichrist will be an individual there teaching who will rise at the end of time he will sit in a literal Jewish temple which has been rebuilt he will reign for a literal three and a half years the fulfillment of Revelation 4 through 19 is still future the Millennium will take place on earth and literal Israel will be on earth and God will have his plan for literal Israel during that period and another thing that futurism teaches is that there's a gap between Daniels 69th and 70th week we're gonna have two presentations just on the prophecy of the 70 weeks but basically what futurists teach there they're all about gaps and in the gap of two thousand years is hiding the Antichrist and in the gap that they put between the 69th and the 70th week of Daniel chapter 9 there we find that they place Antichrist instead of Christ are you acquainted with the prophecy of the 70 weeks you know the 69th week comes to an end Messiah is anointed and then in the middle of the week Messiah dies and then at the end of the week you have the stoning of Stephen that's the the biblical perspective the seventh-day Adventist perspective but what futurism teaches is that you get to week number 69 Jesus wanted the Jews to accept him but when they rejected Jesus God had to suspend his plan for the Jews and he could not fulfill week number 70 the last seven years so during the last nineteen hundred years the prophecy of the 70 weeks has a gap between week number 69 and week number 70 let me ask you what does that do with the prophecy of the 2300 days there's a prophecy of the 2300 days depend on the seventy weeks being fulfilled consecutively and then moving on to the year 1844 absolutely but if there's a gap of close to 2,000 years between week 69 and week number 70 the 1844 date is obliterated boy the devil really really knows how to work doesn't he and so most of Christendom has accepted either prenez progress view or the futurists view liberal Protestants from the mainline churches such as Lutheran's and the Methodists the Presbyterians and to a certain degree some Reformed churches have accepted the view that prophecy was fulfilled in the past the Antichrist prophecies were fulfilled in the past futurism tells us that these prophecies will be fulfilled in the future you know reading Protestant books these days and Bible prophecy is like reading the writings of Rivera bellermine Newman laocoön sa' and company they have swallowed the Roman Catholic view of Bible prophecy one of the Roman Catholic views that was established immediately in the aftermath of the Protestant Reformation we're going to find in our study that the seventh-day Adventist Church is historicism last standard I don't know of any other Church in the world that uses a historic Syst method of interpreting Bible prophecy like the Protestant reformers there's only one Church in the world that upholds that view and that is the seventh-day Adventist Church the view that was held by the Reformers and it's sad folks that even within the seventh-day Adventist Church there are those who are playing games with this issue of Bible prophecy some people for example are saying that the seven trumpets are all future they're saying that the that the king of the north yeah you know that would that doesn't have anything to do with the past of the papacy the king of the north they say well that represents Turkey that has a very important role to fulfill at the end of time they say oh the king of the cells you know some people say that's the Muslims and so there's this process of reinterpreting Bible prophecy when really we know what will be the last power you know the powers that are going to play a role at the end of time are not the Muslims and Turkey the powers that are going to play a role in endtime prophecy are the papacy apostate Protestantism joined with the kings of the earth that is the scenario that is presented and yet even within the seventh-day Adventist Church they're individuals who are reinterpreting prophecy and projecting past prophecies to the future in taking future prophecies and projecting them to the past and sadly in many seventh-day Adventist churches we never even hear the preaching of prophecy anymore the prophecies that made us what we are is seventh-day Evans the prophecies that give us our mission and our message have been almost totally forgotten in some circles of the seventh-day Adventist Church and the world needs to know folks the world needs to know about these dangerous interpretations about these dangerous systems that are gonna play a role at the end of time and it is our duty as seventh-day Adventist to share this message with them and woe to us if we don't because if we don't they will be lost and God will hold us accountable because of the wonderful message that he has given us you see we know exactly how things are going to conclude and so we can live at peace weeks you know we're not concerned we're not worried we're know where everything is going the world is saying I don't know what's happening their hearts are failing them for fear we have a message of assurance for them so let's share it don't be mean be nice but be truthful this is not a time for political correctness God is in the gathering time this is a time for us to proclaim his message to the world in these last days and to prepare ourselves for the awesome events that will soon transpire upon this planet may God bless us and help us fulfill this mission [Music]
