with so many many pieces on the horizon it's hard to keep track it feels like there's an announcement for a new unit almost every day how times have changed from just a few years ago and that's great because competition has become Fierce and you can get a mini with the latest generation processor almost as a release or find great discounts on existing lines and so here are five Minis that have caught my attention in 2023 but before we get into it for your chance to win an i7 Intel knock 13 Pro thanks to Simply knock check out the link in the video description competition is open to us residents 18 and over the b-link EQ 12 Pro Mini PC comes pre-built and features the newly released Intel core I3 and 305 CPU a cores 8 threads and 32 eus for the integrated Graphics also gdr5 at its launch pricing of 350 US it definitely doesn't fall into the budget category like the n95 and n100 minis but I'm really curious about its performance we're the core I3 and 305 Falls and the product stack is what I want to find out and whether it holds up against the competition in its higher price bracket is it a winner okay or a dud my pre-order of this mini is coming soon so expect a review not too far away asrock's this mini X300 was one of my favorite mini PCS of yesteryear a small affordable Bare Bones metal box featuring an STX motherboard supporting up to ryzen 5000 series processors with integrated graphics for what it was the disc mini pretty much dominated without any real competition you could add your own compatible cooler lots of storage and memory overclocking was supported the desk Mini's biggest floors were the large power brick and lack of USB ports and hopefully at least the USB issue has been fixed this year with the launch of the x600 successor there'll also be an Intel b760 variant supporting raptorlex CPUs for those wanting to go down that path the azeroch disc mini x600 supports amd's latest 7000 Series Desktop CPUs and hopefully future Generations as well the only problem is AMD haven't released a 7000 G Series processor and that's what enthusiasts 1 one for these boxes so what could you use it for right now well amd's regular desktop CPU product line has a gimped eye GPU included with each processor so something like a ryzen 7600 or 7700 should be compatible and will give you basic graphics performance otherwise you'll need to wait until the 7600g or 7700g are released which looks to be sometime next year bummer otherwise the ASRock x600 would have been on the top of my list as the X300 ryzen 5600g Mini PC I put together at the time with a noctua l9a cooler was one of the most powerful and quietest mini PCS for the dollars it was also one of my favorites this one came completely out of left field oh Intel's new Vivid Canyon Nook is a knock 13 Pro with a few important changes it's called the disc Edition I don't know why I brought that up it's not important Vivid Canyon's release is as if someone at Intel heard my complaints for the last few years and wanted me to shut up about it for one it has a different design and is the nicest looking knock to date but more importantly the chassis is made of aluminum yeah baby I feel a tech burner coming on [Music] another interesting tidbit is that the power supply has been shrunk by 38 over previous models something I've also been complaining about for a long time nice and if that wasn't enough Intel says a disk Edition offers quiet operation at just 32 DBA under typical use which is impressive if I knew what it meant like what distance is that measured at and what is considered as typical use probably not putting all cores under load like I do for my noise tests anyway if Intel's flaunting lower noise operation it'll be better than the nuk 13 Pro and that'll be something to celebrate the only thing that hasn't changed is the lack of ddr5 support disk Edition still uses ddr4 you know maybe ddr5 doesn't make much difference to the xci GPU I just don't know I'd need to test the laptop to find out and despite what people in the comments might think money doesn't grow on trees believe me I've tried planting a few 50s thank you [Music] nothing hoping to review Vivid Canyon AKA Intel knock 13 Pro disc Edition at some point I have mixed feelings when it comes to Asus mini PCS on the one hand it was Asus that first introduced modern AMD chips to mini PCS with the Asus bn50 and shot a firecracker up the knocks behind but on the other hand there's some of the noisiest minis around the Asus pn42 solves that problem completely as it doesn't even have a fan this Mini PC is silent and comes in two flavors Intel's n100 or n200 CPU I'm most interested in the n200 model as that's not a CPU I've tested just yet as much as I like my b-link EQ 12 and I do and use it often a quiet Mini PC is not the same as a silent one it's something you have to experience the Asus pn42 also has a lot of ports on it compared to the other budget minis featuring these processors oh it also is a damn fine looking fanless mini and if it performs well might be asus's finest effort but that's if so far all the fanless minis this size have thermal throttle some worse than others price may also be an issue as I expect it to be higher than its actively cooled competitors but for me anyway silence is worth a premium I'd like to review the pn42 and get one for myself if if it holds up but distribution of Asus mini PCS and Oz isn't great as of this video the Asus pn63 is still unavailable and it's been out for months in the US boom but the most interesting Mini PC are the ones featuring amd's Phoenix CPUs there are plenty of companies jumping on board to make minis with these processors b-link gmk Tech Asus morphine minis Forum Etc this one's a generational upgrade on the CPU and igpu side so what can this new Zen 4 chip with Radeon 7080m graphics do over the Radeon 680m before it well I'd like to find out ddr5 support jumps up to 5600 as base and clock speeds for the CPU side have gone up as well coupled with a 12 rdna 3 cus for graphics and this one should perform quite a bit better on both the CPU and GPU side than its predecessor it'll definitely hold amd's dominance in integrated graphics I like to see what amd's Phoenix processors can do and I'm sure I'll get round to reviewing it at some point in the meantime I like to hear what minis have caught your eye or what you're waiting for oh and why not check out the state of Intel's integrated graphics with a bunch of AAA games tested from yesteryear right here cheers
