5 Famous Pentatonic Licks Everyone Should Know ( With Tabs)

[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] well hello everybody how are you guys doing today hope you're all ready to jam cuz I am how are you doing my name is Robert and welcome to five famous pentatonic licks from famous solos double famous today so basically these are riffs you've probably heard a million times you know most guitar fans will know these songs and you hear them all time and they're just I stuck with strictly pure pentatonic so not the Blues we're not adding any notes just they needed to be 100% pentatonic so if you guys are nursing less impact I do have links down below to my website about building speed all kinds of that good stuff and you can grab tabs for this lessons there as well so let's go ahead and get to the lid [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right let's dive on into these band member gemma is what so what's going on here well the first one is of course from the ZZ Top song The Grange those are one of my favorite ways he enters a solo you know they switch keys they go from a to get some bass C to rip it [Music] go on but basically we're just all out of this C minor pentatonic shape so you start off I know I've loved delay going on we're gonna rock with it anyways bending 11 a full step up on the B now the little descending part here is what's really cool to me about the way he works his way through this pentatonic so Billy Gibbons I'm so you're gonna go eight on the high string you go 11 pull off to eight twice on the beat and you go to ten on the G I'm gonna go to a little rolling action here we go eight on the beat and eight on the G gotta roll your index finger one two and on the deeper root note then you gonna go roll your ring finger down and eight on the T pin on the D so we have [Music] so what we have going on next we have a little section of the back and black so of course Angus Young is the man when it comes to pentatonix and basically it could go like this slow so but the rhythm and timing is definitely the most typical part of this one then you want to bend up not down like I did I randomly bent down I have no clue why so basically play 12 on the high strings is all out of a minor and then 12 on the high street wise then you go to 15 on the beat and play it unbent then you're going to bend it a little run down here he doesn't flick actually I'm a lot I'm gonna redo he does in the thunderstruck solo he doesn't will descending pattern to the pentatonic scale and we like this [Music] [Applause] [Music] you've been that 1422 it's 12 on High Street 15 to 12 on the beach for Tiana B [Music] they're gonna go to somebody's okay yeah go on the B and 12 on the G just like we doesn't the Billy get working on the D but then you're gonna roll your Rinker down and binge that fortune [Music] oh pretty straight board one but still tailored kind of work on rolling that finger across there all right it's time for slash now this is from of course sweet child of mine we're gonna rock like I'm leaving on a couple of last notes because it does venture out of pentatonic for a moment but the mega meat and potatoes of the the riff here are all pentatonic so we're going like this well y7g is working for 12 okay then you're gonna go to the G and it's 14 twice pull off 12 so you know back to 14 film while wanna be twice you know 14 for 12 on the G so we have now this we're gonna go 15 twice on high string well fortunately I went to high E string twice 6 is lost level of beans and 15 twice on I've lost 12 even back 50 I believe that's how you do it um unless I'm remembering incorrectly but this is the general idea of what he's doing he goes like a 50 and I was resolving just by bending to the root though [Music] of course you can always reference all kinds of tab sites but that's the general idea of what slash is doing when you go sending through that scale all right so let's get some kirk hammett pentatonix in here now this is a lick that Kirk Kove a lot there's a lot of guys uses like c.c.
