this is uh richard back at you we got uh carl uh rickman's uh o2 480e transmission in the house all the way from michigan this has got a lsx 427 in it supercharged really nasty uh nasty truck so he sent us a training uh i believe he took the 4060 e out of it i'm sure and we're going to be putting the for our lady e back in it so uh we're going to be building him an all billet [ __ ] all 300 m shafts and stuff like that all allison clutches and stuff like that so we really appreciate you carl for bringing it down and giving us a chance to uh do it for you we actually got two more of these two in the house to do they're both for turbo charge the cadillac escalade and another turbocharged uh one for a camaro i believe and of course we just got one a 400 done for a turbocharged camaro here this one here we just got done we just got these two 400s done for our extreme uh smash up derby gentlemen all the way from kansas we just got another one done that uh for his ultra bell one that uh that he's going to be putting in another extreme smash up derby car so we got a lot of work to do well let's get this one apart now this is a core that they sent me to build for them basically it is a rear lube as you can see here the cooler lines in the rear pretty rusted up so i'm not sure if i'm not sure is it a lot of salt in michigan or or what but the core seems to be pretty rusted but let's get this thing apart i'll try to get all the pieces up off of it first kind of strip it down a little bit you can kind of see everything's rusted up pretty good the bolts and stuff the bracketry so we don't want to break anything twist anything off yep there you go on that one and i already tapped that in there once so it's not out nope that's all right so we'll get that one out later yeah so we get our front speed sensor up here you can just see how rusted all the brackets are and stuff on it i guess there could be a lot of salt and stuff in michigan i don't know or where the core physically come from so this is going to be all uh handheld type programming he might even have an hp tuning or a dominator system on i'm not for sure how they're going to be tuning that down on the paper so we know to make sure everything's right neutral safety switch this has all been out of shape everything's got to be replaced so actually i forgot my gloves trent oh you're in trouble oh gosh i'm not used to wearing gloves but i did uh get some new raven sixes i had some last time on my first video and i just come back to work uh and they tore real easy so i think they could have been old now this is a brand new box and raven six is here so uh be nice let's see kind of hard to remember when you don't usually wear them but it did feel good wearing them actually kept my hands a little softer this is my [ __ ] of choice i really like these [ __ ] here for high high horsepower for street driving uh cruises and stuff like that this is the only way to go 406e just won't handle the high high horsepower stuff they'll handle the cruising and stuff but they just won't handle the high high horsepower like these wheels then a 400 they just don't to me they just don't last the term that you're gonna be wanting to drive them so let's say the long distance you're going to wait wanting to drive them correct now since we can program this one you control all your pressures and stuff like that that's what i like about these now this little plastic thing here right here guys when we do these [ __ ] and we put them back in if it doesn't have one of these on here to lock that keeper in there like that what we'll do is we'll get a tie strap and run around that and tied on a nice a good tie strap cut it off that way it stays on there but don't ever just put your cooler line in there like that expect it to stay because that is not how it's designed you have to have that retainer on the outside so but a tie strap works really good because you can kind of stick it down it'll fit kind of in this groove right here shoot the other ones in there too yeah so you can see it's broke off in here but i'm not sure what type of fittings he's going to be using oh yeah that's all right but you definitely want to make sure you put the right one in this one here especially in the rear one because of the extension right here through that extension then the front one won't okay if you put that in there like that the training is going to burn up because this tube has to reach the center support for your lube circuit so and they do make an aftermarket fitting that will work that you can put an a in fitting in here and put your nice braided lines and all that type stuff up there so they do make it i'll throw a link on the video for them okay carl rickman this is your [ __ ] two-wheel drive big old tour converter here being kind of gentle don't want to hurt myself definitely that looks kind of ugly look here guys the bushing has physically welded itself to the converter hub so we know the pump's going to be totally burned up here the pump's not going to be any good at all so i think i think i got my parts washer yeah just plug my drain hole so you don't hear that noise like that but yeah we couldn't get the converter out on the bench earlier and by hand so we know it's going to be rough but that is totally wasted there so that's what's bad when you buy a core you don't know what you're getting and next thing you know you've got a really bad transit that really ain't worth nothing i don't know what the weather is like at y'all's house but it is freezing here at our house i'm ready for summer we actually got a race coming up here in about four or five weeks that we're going to try to make and we're going to be going down to pinwheel and taking the dirty bird down there and we're going to kind of do a bunch of video and kind of keep you all updated on that that's going to be pretty exciting so this [ __ ] here smells really bad i mean you can look at the pan the pans beat up all the way against the filter i want to show you something here guys and this is probably what started a lot of this problem that burnt the converter up and burnt the whole [ __ ] up if if you come in and look this filter right here has bumps on it that keeps the filter suction off the bottom of the pan this right here well if you come here and look this suction was on the bottom of the pan now this pan has a big dent in it it's smashed all the way up in the middle to the suction on the pan this magnet should be over here so if you look at this pan look at this big old dent so what happened excuse me no you're good yeah is that big old dent now what happened is they could have put it in with a floor jack or anything like that who knows what how this got that dent in there but once that filter it's already covered up but you could it was just perfectly smashed up against this hole right here right so once it did that the training was done instantly now this is a light model like i said it's got a deep filter on it's got the little lugs on it the early style doesn't have any legs on it now this is an early model epc solenoid so this must be an early model early rear lube style four lady e it's not the late model it doesn't have the late model pressure control solenoid or anything like that in there so now we got our pwm solenoid here got our manifold pressure switch got our shift solenoids here a and b we have our temperature sensor here built into the wiring harness got a little retainer right here that holds in this rear lube tube this lubricates your rear case bushing back here and it also uh lubricates the tail housing bushing this tail housing bushing right here is actually pressurized through this tube right here through this channel here and it comes through this hole right here there we go right there so this bushing is physically pressurized it doesn't take a spray off of it like a 4l60e it's got a little support in the back that just sprays it back there like that so this here actually has a tube that sends it back there now i talked about this little seal right here too guys if you put a four wheel drive or two wheel drive you better watch what you're doing right here if you have a four wheel drive it'll be a cup right here with no hole in it if you have a two wheel drive this cup right here has a hole in it and it's designed to lubricate the rear tail housing bushing so if you put this in a four wheel drive it will work because this is a restrictor but if you put this a plug one in a two wheel drive then you're going to burn the tail house and push it up because there's nothing to lube that bushing back there so but if you put this in a four wheel drive one it still would work it doesn't have to have the cup because the cup is a pressurized or it's got is it is orificed i mean so all these harnesses get replaced they all leak at the connector right here causes all types of erratic shifting and stuff like that so i've already got all the kits here in-house over here i got them all built up all the allison clutches and the sk kit everything we're going to do to it i have over here already built up to do three of these units i'm just waiting on all the 300m billet shafts to come in they should be here wednesday and then we're going to start knocking these three out really quick so that's why we decided to go ahead and start getting these going so plus i'm feeling better back from the doctor so uh it's nice to feel good for once it's kind of crazy i i haven't used my stomach abdominal muscles in so long because of the pain and now i feel them start working it's kind of different now the manifold pressure switch does take an eight millimeter bolt and all those would be a 10. so these all be the same length here but uh the manifold one is a 10 on the top of the head right here or excuse me an eight you see the difference here both the same length they will interchange but a little harder to get the socket down in there on the 10 millimeter so now this is an early model this will all be updated and then of course this one here is always under the manifold switch so it's kind of hard to get to sometimes [Applause] now we'll pull this off here you can see all your check balls here let's grab my magnet now if you notice there's all these right through here right here it looks like there could be a check ball i'm gonna put one right there just to kind of show you one does not go there in that hole so we have a check ball book that gives us every check ball location every training you ever made i've got two or three of them back there so got your engine braking servo here for your band get your this is your reverse band servo and your intermediate excuse me your third gear accumulator right here now the shift kit it'll come with a new spring that goes in here for thermal firmer third got your gasket here then we have our 3h 12 point sets down in there and you can see here how much longer a 4l80e bolt is compared to a 400 a 400 volts half the length so i've never tried to cut one down to see if the thread is even the same so i haven't had to do that then you have your overdrive bolt here now this was a hollow bolt too all the way through fluid goes through that apply that clutch actually all these [ __ ] are air checkable when you put them together you can check check the drums here move in there then we come in here and blow in different circuitries here too i can't do it now blow fluid all over us but uh you can't do that with these we air check everything all the way out no matter how you look at it kind of slide this over here just a little bit this thing's pretty dirty melted the accumulator piston here we have our accumulator springs accumulated pistons they all look in good shape none of them are totally just melted out this thing's been so hot the gasket is just really smells really bad if y'all could stand here and smell this one you'd be going ooh i'm glad i'm not eating it's mellow vision yeah this is really bad i get it you really released it but taking gaskets off let me show you a little trick here guys that we've had to do anytime we do the sonyx pwm valve right here you have to pull this clip out right here a lot of times you cannot get that clip out guys i mean i've fought and fought and i have special tools to get them out and sometimes you cannot get them out so what i do is i come over here and on the top right here uh i'll take and drill a hole right here in the center a small one and then i'll take a small punch i have over here or a roll pin let me show you real quick i'll get one hey guys this is richard back at you unfortunately when i walked over to get my sonax valve unplugged the mic really quick so and we didn't catch it but we did catch it so i'm going to go back and kind of explain a few things to you we were talking about the pin if you can't get it out you can come over here and drill a small hole here take a roll pin driver uh push the pin out put your new sonax valve back in but just make sure when you come back what i did is i take a drill bit and chamfer that hole just a little bit give me a little bit of a puddle and then i'll take and i'll put jb weld over this hole gives me a little patch if you don't put a patch over here it will not have lock up so you're going to you want to make sure you do that so but that's how you do it because there's times you can fight and you can't get that pin out i'm telling you i've done it for 30-40 minutes and uh just give up finally learned how to do it that way so but it works really good but always plug that back of that hole up right there with a jb weld or something like that so we got the mic working we we got our pump out here guys out of the training we'll talk in the first part of the video the bushing spun wiped out the pump we couldn't get the converter out we had to pry it out and then we get over here the pump gear has welded itself to the stator so now we also come over here i talked about this part right here you'll see in the video too uh this is a rear loop pump right here this is how it's identified this little notch across this land right here if you get a pump that doesn't have that on it will not work in a rear loop [ __ ] it's it's designed for a front loop now they do have a pumps out now that have been rebuilt that you that comes with a little kit uh you can put in it to either put it in an earlier late model pump or excuse me earlier late model training from front to rear lube so uh that is nice if they start doing that now we notice here the overdrive drum under drive drum right here the overdrive clutches go around it the underdrive clutch is on the inside but the bushing is frozen to the stator you see it right there yes sir so this training smells really really bad guys this thing is totally cooked so you can see here we're turning the input shaft now we got all 300 m shafts coming for these uh we're doing three of these units uh back to back so see if i can get this apart oh it's already looking bad did you see that pins yeah you see this overdrive pin right here it already spun this little tab you can take the snap ring off pull this retainer off and this retainer is what keeps the pins from spinning you can see it right there and it was fixing to do some danger some really bad stuff to this thing that's cool you can replace it pin by pin though if you have said roller one rolling go out and everything else yep you sure can you can see here this bushing here even come out oh man so we got bushing spun and everything here see if i can get this apart but now we got the overdrive sprag assembly that don't exist so i'm gonna walk over here and grab one over really quick yes somewhere if i can you kind of see what this this used to look like but now oh hey you see the blue totally gone all the plastic melt the plum out of it wow so this [ __ ] as a core is probably going to be not any good it's going to be melted from top to bottom now you got to remember this is a rear loop to the front so if it's melted in the front what do you think it's going to be in the back that got all the lube oil first so and then it quit lubing towards the front and the front looks this bad already so hopefully we can get it apart i was just going to say the same thing oh man then you got your what's left of the rollers see that one how it spun in the retainer oh yeah i got my now you can rebuild these if you got another planet you know set around it's got one pin bad or something like that and these are kind of they make they got this little tab you push down that locks the snap ring in there oh that's cool yeah yeah first don't sling out mm-hmm that's destroyed there too so but we got a new shaft coming for this part we have our overdrive clutch here now you notice they use the pin right here to keep the support from spinning if they didn't have that it just ripped that aluminum bolt out right there see that center support bolt right here correct so when you blow air through here this is the clutch that's coming on let me grab my new blower real quick make it kind of quiet kind of give them an idea of what we got it's cool being able to watch this tranny's work so you're coming here you got your bolt surprise it didn't melt the piston now this i have o-rings are all uh seals in here for the seals i mean i mean yeah this won't be a bonded pistol in here but clutch ain't nothing left for that neither so but this comes apart here got two seals in here with lip seals please come out yay oh yeah come out guys okay like i said the farther back we get the worse this unit's going to be so i don't see anything left of this unit but maybe a case if the case is good in the back where the bushing is lubricated and if it is it's just because that little lube tube we talked about in the back was lubricating that rear case bushing really good okay guys this is a forward clutch right here was i don't think i've ever seen one this bad oh that's that new bonded clutch pack yes sir sorry i just had to pull that now this does have a wave in it you can see that the clutches are totally stripped gone one solid piece here guys it's sad let's see if he had a good retainer and what's sad this was a good piece this was a nice hardened one but it's no good we could have saved this and put this in his 1200 horsepower unit hey it's just a sad day okay so basically the bushing is is still in here but you can see here where the drum and the shaft started running rubbing right here where your ceiling rings go for your forward clutch if you look here your forward clutch is applied through this hole right here and you got these two ceiling rings right here and it sets down in here like this see so it's already grooved out it's already grooved out there bonded piston okay let's see if this will come out wow okay now here we have our high reverse clutch here i miss that thing so now i can't even see an opening on his neck just melted you know i don't know where he bought this core from but man these people got a hold of him i'd be very upset um you know they do sell good cores it's just when you try to buy them off an individual that i've been running it at the track for five years but it still worked one day that's what you get i mean there's no telling this one here has been totally abused this guy was making it home from the bar no matter how you look at it i mean this is really uh really really bad i'm very impressed we've got as far as we've got i'm telling if these planets are good in the back i'm going to freak out i don't know how this is our intermediate clutch here and it's not of course the steels are gone i mean it's it'll have to be put back and we will use this wave back in this one here because like i said this [ __ ] here is capable of what we call overkill this tranny's got one of the biggest pumps they put in a [ __ ] and it's capable of making 600 pounds of pressure if you want it to and it can break stuff real easy so you uh you can go over killing this [ __ ] i think what's max line pressure on these things i mean on the floor yeah that's what we usually shift them out at when we're programming them you can go 200 but you got to be careful yeah you know we got bonded pistons we got uh you know we just got aluminum stuff we got just a lot of stuff that can break another shift kit we'll put in here we'll take care of that it's got a blow off valve that we put in there that if it gets too high pressure it'll blow it off but still you know you've got to be careful [Music] now this does have the right bushings in it now remember guys this thing loops from the rear to the front so it lubricates through the bushings the early design lubricates through the center so in other words it's got a hole all the way through this shaft oil spurts out comes up it goes back this direction from the front to the rear the early design and it loops through the center of everything well on the rear design coming forward it lubricates on the outer of the shafts it lubricates through the bushings so if i take put an early model bushing in here that has no grooves i just cut the lubricating circuit off from here up forward depending on where i put the bushing at no no okay that's why these bearings are even special and these roller bearings are all special too because they're designed to let the oil go forward through the bearings not through the shafts now we do have a snap ring inside the case right here that goes down in the groove that the support sets on we are going to pull out our reverse band that's probably the most beautifulest piece i've seen in this game so far that's crazy the case looks good didn't wipe out the case wow so bushing looks good back to here we've got our washer her thrust plate and then we have our washer which will be roller bearing all this stuff back here so we do have a good case that don't mean nothing when everything else is destroyed so let's look at these planets see what we got here and how this is still alive is the only way is because it was getting the last little bit of oil that it was getting everything else stopped lubing towards the front it turned off and that's the only reason why this still looks the way it looks if not it would be totally burnt up too though i'm shocked we don't see any hot pins but we do want to look for any type of gear wobble looks really good but still we clean it up really nice look at it that way let me get our sun gear here you're gonna look on both sides because you got to on and off the gas you get preloads both directions correct but the main side is the the load side when you take off forward so so if you notice here you see these four notches that's your outer loop circuit your lubrication oil comes through these and goes forward goes through them bushings goes forward and i'm amazed yeah me too you know they didn't put enough straight cut planets out there in these things i wish they had all been straight cut planets that had been really nice you know the 400s and the motorhomes and stuff had straight cut planets and we were able to do a lot of neat stuff with them i like them a lot so now we got our speed sensor ring gear here same way here doesn't look like any of the pins are purple check for any wobbling plant looks really nice the bushings here so you notice here there's no lube oil circuit hole for this right here like on a 400 it looped through here come out here and lubricate the case bushing it'll tell you that little oil tube you know it comes back and sprays on it now if you look here too this here lubricates through the the bearings you can see these right here see them holes if you take and turn that bearing there's always going to be a hole open see no matter how you turn it this shaft is solid where 400 is hollow and the early design is hollow some cool stuff pretty neat stuff guys unfortunately it's going to take a lot to get this thing back together we're probably going to need another core really to to buy all these parts and put this back together we can buy another core hopefully and try to find try to find one basically we're having a hard time finding these anyway so that's why i'm having if they're going to bring them to me they got to be good or it's a waste of time shipping them so it's going to take a lot to get it back together but we can do it if you want anything give us a holler don't forget to subscribe on our channel it's really good to be back for sure uh we've got a lot more coming for the year uh we got the race coming up for the dirty bird uh here in about five weeks so we're gonna do a lot of video and stuff on that that'll be exciting too so y'all have a wonderful weekend y'all stay tuned have a good day
