[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] everybody gets a Jonathan from row J mark and I didn't do like I said today I hope that you can see that it is Batmobile pursuit of the Joker I think that it's from the Lego Batman movie kind of I don't know it's just so Batmobile that's all that's really important as you know maybe I'll show him to you later but I thought while I was putting that together what other movie what I watched while putting together a Lego a Lego Batmobile Batman vs Superman dawn of Justice yeah I know you weren't expecting that but it's what I'm gonna watch I was gonna do the Lego Batman movie I really was but a couple of days ago I was talking to my manager and he and he's never really seen this and I was explaining know how much I loved this movie and how I wish there was other people that I could talk to him about this movie because people either haven't seen it or they just didn't really like it Oh thought I would watch it maybe try to explain why I love it so much so that's what I'm gonna be doing so stay tuned for that that'll become an easy I'm about to get started alright guys I'm back and I'm finished that man chasing the Joker the lowing that came off and yes I really did build this in the time it took me to watch this movie but you know it is a three hour movie because Ultimate Edition that bigger one comparatively alright I'm really gonna try to do this I have been wanting to try to get my thoughts together and actually do a review of this maybe four years now and I've never done it because I've never felt that I'm able to adequately express everything that I love about this movie and I'm going to give it a shot so let's go first things first I guess I yes we can halfway started the bidding I loved Zack Snyder Zack Snyder is not really no my favorite director but he's definitely one of my favorite directors I pretty much love every movie that I've seen I have all of them as movies always have something special about them whether that's you know he always shoots amazing action action sequences he has a really unique visual style that I love he's very good with dialogue and I mean just I just love Zack Snyder okay I love the casting in this movie all of the cast was perfect Ben Affleck killed it I was Batman Henry Cavill is of course amazing as Superman Jesse Eisenberg I thought was in a spider cat scene for Lex Luthor jr. we're gonna get back to that I just I I thought everything about this movie was perfect in the sense of direction cinematography casting even the hans zimmer coming in to do the music with somebody else it wasn't just Hans Zimmer Hans Zimmer makes fantastic scores on his own but to mix him in with junkie XL that was it gave this movie just that it elevated the music and this movie just that little bit that it needed to make it stand out the scores in this movie are amazing everybody has their own personal themes between Wonder Woman the trilogy Batman even Superman even even Lex Luthor Lex Luthor has one of the greatest things you know so all of that came together I felt really well and that was what was one of the main things when this movie was announced I was super invested from the beginning even the casting have been asked like who did not turn me off I immediately saw it on like yeah that's a great choice that really is a great great choice and so I I was invested from the beginning but I was still slightly wary just because I I was I wasn't sure where they were gonna go with the story and then I saw him and I loved what they did with the story they bought they brought three different threads together and his accent was able to interweave them to make this fairly brilliant story with interesting characters Francis I feel like the theme the real theme of this movie is important and it's a theme that doesn't get dealt with that much well not as much it's a story of hope anonymous and I know that sounds cliche I'm not talking about Man of Steel the S stands for hope I'm not I'm not saying that that's not what this is this is a story about losing hope I feel it's two complete opposites in Batman vs Superman Superman is somebody who is trying to stand for hope that the world has lost its a lot of the world has lost its hope in him and there's people in the government that are pushing this story of Superman is not what he seems bla bla bla which is of course being whole time and then on the opposite end of that there's Batman Batman is somebody who believes that he is making a difference but he's not because he has lost all hope he's become eat I don't want to say he's become a going but he is more of the delante in this then in which I know a lot of people had problem to us a lot of people had problems with fact that with how violent Batman is in this and how dark he has begun remember this is him twenty years old I mean it literally says in the movie he's been fighting criminals in Gotham for twenty years so this is in a lot of ways I mean if you want to look at it in this sense this is this would be like maybe five years before Batman Beyond what Batman Beyond brought out o grizzled Batman he's not quite there yet but he's almost there and he's been doing this in fighting criminals and trying to do the good thing for so long and he's been succeeding at it and then all of a sudden I don't know where our man comes out of the sky and destroy metropolis and he's placed the entire blame on Superman even though he should know better just a man that is locked that is let the anger get the best of him and that's where we're really coming from this movie is so angry that he cannot see past it they you know one of his buildings was destroyed and it I know that is another thing and is a beautiful way to tired it to man a steel that fight at the end of May and of Steel that destroyed a lot of metropolis one of those buildings that gets knocked over is a Wayne Enterprises building and so you know Batman is pissed Bruce Wayne is pissed and it's letting in he has obviously gotten the best of him and he's so focused on his rage he cannot see beyond it and you know everybody is asking you know why didn't anybody see what Lex Luthor was doing in this movie well Superman didn't want to see he wanted to believe the heat that is not a good way to put this that is not a good way to put this at all so let me go back Batman can't see beyond this rage he doesn't so he can't see that Lex Luthor is pulling the strings of this whole situation Superman Superman is so focused I believe on what the people in the government are saying about him and what everybody else is saying about him that he just is blind to what's really going on Superman Oh clean up often is though that's so that's not his fault that is part of his character Batman is the one that should have seen it they were really trying to build into this story the idea of they were pulling some inspiration from the world's greatest detective aspect of Batman and you can really see it he does all he's doing water research he's doing it as Bruce Wayne he's finding out this stuff he's putting pieces together but he's missing that one vital piece until the very end of the movie and then everything kind of clicks about what's been going on like he has all these little clues and evidence that's leading up but he can't he doesn't quite get all the way there the introduction of Wonder Woman is I feel was really inspired to do in this movie and then they went and gave her her own maybe after right after this came out I feel that was a really nice way to do it to kind of yeah I mean we knew who we knew she was obviously but they throw this character in that you know with a little bit of mystery and they find a file on Lex's computer that has this may be introduced to hold justice like you know Aquaman cyborg flash or Wonder Woman and gave just little bits even though they weren't in they weren't all in this movie he gave just a little bit's enough right oh these characters are here they're coming awesome yeah you know and still waiting on that solo flash movie and cyborg movie but that's a different story I do not want I did not want to go into this review and just be busting on what Warner Brothers and DC has done to d2 all these movies to the whole franchise I I didn't want to go there so I'm trying to avoid that one I feel like this movie is one of the most beautiful comic book movies that I've ever seen in a lot of ways not beautiful in the sense of way I Hawk woman was gorgeous Doctor Strange was gorgeous in its own right you know this is a little bit of a darker movie yes and I don't just mean in tone I mean in the actual look it's it uses a lot of very dark palettes and muted colors but this is a movie about darkness and crunching in people's minds so I feel that that is actually very big but there's so many gorgeous gorgeous shots in this movie for probably one of my favorite examples is and the very beginning this movie is basically he just takes four minutes and he recaps Batman's origin alright we didn't need it no we didn't need it and he and from what I've from what I've read he almost wanted to leave it out because we don't we don't need to know everybody knows Batman's origin his parents got shot outside of the theater he becomes back but he got this inspiration on a way to do it that is short sweet and that's what that's just so gorgeous everything from the lighting to the cinematography to just the way he did it short and sweet he interspersing it with scenes young Bruce Wayne at actually at the funeral and running away from the funeral and introduces the idea the cave and him falling in and meet and finding earth I think it was more like a Wow kind of like they did in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy it was more like a well he finds the bats and then once that's over you find out that it's actually a dream that he had so I think I thought that was a really really unique way to do it while still introducing the concept of his origin and telling it in a short and sweet short and sweet manner obviously the actual fight between Batman or Superman is amazingly shot and I don't want to say it's realistic because we're talking about an alien that's invertible and a man that dresses is that but in terms of that it's at least somewhat grounded and realistic this maybe shows the idea of what Batman is like if he has prep time you know if he has enough prep time you can do anything and yes they have to resort to kryptonite because you know of course they do it's literally Superman's only weakness you know so of course they have to resort to kryptonite Bruce Wayne gets a hold of a big chunk of good night which is also part of the storyline is that Lex Luthor gets all that kryptonite and Bruce mate and Bruce Wayne Stephen they're Batman and steals it from them but we're gonna get to Lex Luthor here in a minute I promise obviously that fight is great Batman has prep time and honestly what Superman's ass in it but is I like I love the way they actually shot the fight it's very energetic and frantic but it's also very stable you know there's not a lot of camera shake or anything showing the frenetic energy or anything it's a very the cameras ready state you know and I thought it made it look better it made it easier to follow and now I really want to talk about Lex Luthor because he is honestly I feel the best part of this movie he his portrait Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal and his character the dialogue everything is what elevated this movie in my mind first off this is Lex Luthor jr. that is such an important distinction that a lot of people just tend to forget about you know I remember after this movie came out I was reading it well that is not Lex Luthor that's a stupid way he did terrible well no it wasn't it was Lex Luthor jr. he discusses that he's jr. he discusses that his dad was and monster of a person you know he's dealing he's got daddy issues of abuse stemming in his past and he has something wrong with him and I mean that they never really quite they never really outline discuss what it is but he obviously has something some form of ADHD that stems out and you can see it he stutters a lot he loses focus he loses track what he's doing and he has these little twitches that he has so that the maybe it's twitches and ticks in its little subtle things like that that build a character up into something they weren't before he's also brilliant a literally plays everybody in this movie where I up until the end especially after the only person that sees through it is Lois Lane and she never gets a chance to really be able to do anything about it because by the time she figures it out it's kind of too late everything's already in motion so his whole plan is to pet Superman and Batman against each other because one of two things is gonna happen Batman is his whole plan is one of two things Batman is gonna kill Superman and this problem goes away or Superman is going to kill Batman and his problem with Superman won't just be increased because not increased I don't want to mean that not his problems it ran the public's portrayal of Superman will be lessened some and really it didn't matter because the whole thing was just a diverging anyway so he kidnaps Martha Kent holds her hostage tell Superman to go kill Batman Superman goes over to kill Batman and by that time Superman at RIT has realized that something is wrong here and that's obviously when he knew what Lex Luthor was up to Batman still didn't he goes over to try to and tries to talk to him and tell him hey you know we're being played here but again Batman is so deep in his own rage that he refuses to listen any kind of kid Superman's ass using kryptonite yes almost kills him at the end and that's when the famous line happens save Martha why would you say that man you the reason why that line was there hey that line has been set up since the beginning of the movie okay when they showed Batman's origin scenes in the very beginning the last word literally the last word that his dad said before he died was Martha okay that made that man stop and pay attention he heard his mother's name he didn't know Cyprien didn't know that it was his mother's name but it didn't matter made him stop and it made him realize that Superman and most thing comes along and says it's his mother's name and that man is like oh [ __ ] he has a mother it completely changes his perception of who he is Batman had spent this entire movie believing and forcing himself to believe that Superman is a monster it's an alien is an unstoppable thing that just wanted carnage and had no had no desire to care about the needs of mankind and then he finds out that he has a mother and it changed everything it was like literally like what somebody flipped the switch in his brain and all the fighting stopped sometimes all it takes is two or mine he just needed a reminder that while he was nailing him still raised here on earth he was more human miners' Superman at that moment was being more human than that man was Batman was believing that Superman was a monster the entire movie when he was really being monster and that's how you do some character development you know that is how you are able to persuade that and that's why I love this movie because it's giving in to the philosophy and at times the theology of what makes a man a man and I don't mean that in a sexist way I mean what makes us what is it that drives us as mankind that man has so many lines that he says and yes he sang them out of anger you know he tells Superman in the middle of the fight he stops I mean he's one arm he says you aren't brave men are brave again he was deluded in saying that you know because again he is being a monster at the moment but it's lines like that and then at the very end of the movie that has changed and he says you know I feel things I will not feel them in death by the way spoilers Superman Tigers okay he's been out for three years now get past it it's been you know get past the person spoilers here Superman is dying he says I failed in life I will not fail him and death men can still be good we can still be brave we can still fight when we need to and we need to show hope we need to figure out a way to show hope to the world once again and that's when he decided to put together the Justice League which fall off the rails a little bit but that's another discussion the use of music hues philosophical ideas theological ideas these are art there's a there's a very famous painting that Lex Luthor has in his home which I can't remember the name of I'll put it here but it's a depiction of England's angels and demons angels coming down from heaven demons coming up from Hell to meet in the middle to battle and that in a lot of ways is just like that that's the whole movie kind of right there you know it's kind of a beautiful setup and he has a lot where he's talking to sin ernie since you know that painting should really be upside down because the demons don't come from below they come from above which is a kind of fun kind of funny thing it's obviously a dig at Superman saying this Superman is the demon but the thing that I always found funny about that line in particular is that the real demon actually did come from below because it Lex Luthor decided to go and create doomsday and the Genesis taint chamber of Zod ship which was located underground he literally created the demon that came from below to fight what has been what at that point had become the angel from above and Superman it's little things like that if subtle things like that that I love about Zack Snyder he's able to implement little things like that that make you stop and think and you see stuff in his movies that you can catch after many times are we watching and this movie is no exception you know some of these movies like 300 and Sucker Punch they kind of they're they're they're basic you know not basic in a bad way but there's not a lot of subtle nods to anything they're definitely visual movies and all of his movies are visual he's a he's an amazing visual storyteller but this one and Watchmen are those movies you can watch multiple times and catch something new each time that you see it because he put so much thought into his movies he has people researching historical ins art music literature to try to find some sort of little nod to put in that people may never catch this movie may go on for years and people are still finding stuff in it but he he had Zack Snyder has that thought process of I'm gonna put it in there because somebody might find that someday and it's going to make this movie even better when they do that is why I love this movie that is why I feel that it is the that is my favorite comic-book movie do I feel it's the best Batman movie No maybe set the best not 1989 is pretty close because this isn't this movie is not solely a Batman maybe it is just a movie a Batman and it's a movie that it's focused on all of these characters and how dare you and how in such a short time they can be developed in these fully fleshed out characters you know you're introducing Batman you're introducing Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor by the end of the movie they had a whole character story arc and development that is more development than they usually get in three or four movies my opinion again but you know as we all know my opinion is right so I love this movie watch this movie if you've never seen this movie please at least try it I understand this on it may be for everyone but I think the dentist yet I think I finally got all of my thoughts out in this movie and I don't know how long this review is but I apologize for the length because I have feeling it's probably longer than normal but I have a lot to say about this and I'm thank you guys for sticking with me well I try to get it all out until next time I'll see you later
