[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so welcome back everyone Mike here just got home from work a few minutes ago and the first thing on the agenda this evening is I'm gonna try to get this big red oak log here behind me up to the Renewable Energy processing center also known as the firewood yard but don't worry I'm not going to cut this log up into firewood this is a beautiful saw log that I will save I already sealed the ends on it and it'll be one of the first ones I saw when I finally get a sawmill but anyway on the way home from work I thought I had it all figured out in my head you know I kind of plan how I'm going to do things I thought this isn't gonna be any problem at all the log weighs around 4,400 pounds I pulled logs out bigger than that a little bit bigger than that with the art k55 but it was on a good frozen snowy day and on the way down here I noticed the trails a little bit muddy in places so I'm not sure how this is gonna work out worst case scenario I just get it out of my way here it's kind of blocking my trail but we're at least give it a try I don't know if you could see when I was trying to pick this up but I had my one back tire come off the ground on the tractor now I don't have anything on the back of it right now except for a little three-point trailer mover aka log skidder attachment that my buddy Tom made for me so I really don't have any weight on the back of the tractor now the tires are filled but like I said this logs 4,400 pounds even if I could pick it up and carry it it's over 12 feet long and I really have trouble getting anything over 10 feet long up the trail just due to all the trees so I think the best option here is I'm going to turn the tractor around try to turn this thing around hook on to it and drag it up the hill like I said the trails a little bit muddy it's all uphill too from here the whole way up there and it'll be quite a pull but will at least give it a try since I'm down here this is what my buddy tom made for me that's what we're gonna hook on to he said there's no way I'm going to break it so we should find out here shortly after we attempt to get this big log up the hill I'm going to come back down here with the MS 880 we're going to take a piece off this stump I'm gonna do another ring count that was a really good video I really enjoyed doing it the last time on that last big oak that we counted the Rings on had a little history lesson there and I think that was 207 years old this one's not going to be as old I'm guessing 160 maybe I don't know but what I'm gonna do at this one I'm gonna cut it much thicker maybe four or five inch piece off of it at least you know a lot of people say be nice to make a tabletop out of something like that the problem is you know when they're opened up like this and you cut them thin they get the check and really bad really fast like that last one that I did it got all cracked up in a matter of a week so I think what I'll do with this one is cut maybe a five inch thick slab off of it it's gonna be really heavy but get it up to the house maybe even sand it down a little bit we'll do the ring count and then I may just seal it all up with anchor seal and just leave it sit in a garage for a while the anchor suit will help you know it's not gonna stop it from drying but it's gonna slow it way down may be able to prevent it from checking and then you know like a year from now sand it all down if it doesn't crack too bad and try it again but if anybody has any suggestions on how to seal that up whether it be just with oil to slow it way down or if I should try to seal it completely you know someone that has done this before let me know because it's very difficult to keep you know this oak from cracking when you're only cutting it in four or five inch pieces the other day when I cut that log off the stump it flopped down into the ground I'll show you that clip right now [Music] but that was a steal m/s 880 I used and I brought it down here with the RK 24 and somebody in the comments said something what the day say if your chainsaw is bigger than your tractor you might be a redneck it is actually pretty funny I just pulled this piece out of the pile to give me a little bit of weight on the front end [Applause] [Applause] well that's the end of the line right there things were going really well but this section right here it starts to get pretty steep and it gets pretty wet my tires are loaded up and if I could have got another 50 feet then it dries up for a little bit but then I got about a hundred and fifty feet of trail that's kind of worse than that stays a little bit wetter than this is I think what I'll do is leave it sit right where it lays and come back down tomorrow evening I think one more day of drying I should be able to get it up there I'm not sure but that'll kind of be my last chance for a few days because Friday Saturday the cone for a bunch of rain so that's not the end of the world I'll get it though [Music] [Music] okay I came to carry the log up the hill all right so now all Mike's gonna kind of slab off this it's gonna be a thicker than the last one from the other tree not when it was too thin and it cracked and it's gonna cut this one thicker and then we're gonna take it up seal it with the anchor seal right yeah any anchor seal and then we'll count the Rings but not tonight we're not gonna connect tonight it's of course when you do the anchors do you're gonna wait a while yeah we'll put it in a garage and maybe it will crack as bad as the last time you grab that big saw all right it's pretty heavy heavy cuz you don't know your weight balanced okay here yes sir huh she's gonna check on the goose better hope it does attack you [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] nice when I think the shape of it it's more of an oval yeah a circle like a tree so it was pivoting and I'm sure most of you already know that but that was pretty cool it's not right here and my phone died I would have taken a picture but there was like this it was like teeny little tongue sticking out there was nothing yeah that much sticking out it just made it through yeah it wasn't too bad so ever not I don't know it probably ranges from I'm probably known as probably six or seven inches at this end and five or six it together but that's also heavy I mean it's hard to not like a finished tool when a tree operates like that so it's pulled it pulled a foot down yes please come up and broke off there's like a ditch foot deep and these leaves just disguise it so Mike's telling me be careful and he kind of stepped in the shower when they were here I'm like oh boy he though so you're pretty strong but that saw is a little much than you think it is especially if you've a chain runner on I think you need to be stable stand on solid ground a good foundation I'm strong enough for it to lift up to your waist if not don't be handling something like this now you know what the next problem we have is I don't think we're gonna be able to lift that slab that I cut it's pretty thick yeah I don't think so let's put the Soloway we'll put the saw way and see if we can at least get it off of there okay hold on I hope okay another thing I want to mention is be sure to check out our Instagram and our Facebook pages it's outdoors with Morgan's for both and I usually have a picture post every day so disagree of stories are pretty cool they really are your stories are really cool they're fun so you're in a good mood or even if you're in a bad mood it might put you in a good mood a lot of dog stuff chicken stuff a lot of stuff with hunter all sorts of outdoorsy stuff yeah yeah so outdoors with the Morgans yeah Instagram and Facebook place yes to subscribe or I guess those ones are fallen follow follow both on Instagram and on Facebook and then you can hit the circle which is our profile picture and when you hit that profile picture of the circle it'll play the story and the same thing is on Instagram goes to Facebook except for the ones with music so if I put a song to it it won't go to Facebook so the Facebook story viewers you're missing out on fun songs that are attached to the videos on Instagram so check them out there I'll help you what's your footing here good thing our strong hip doesn't really fit new Ranger yeah we're gonna go that way with it you ready okay what's just know it's gonna want to go down in where you're standing okay why don't you push him right here I don't want it to go right here yeah move I think that's good right there because what I'll do I'll bring the tractor down put it right under it and slide it in the bucket around the forks or something you think this is red oak it seems to look a little different once you get down into this stuff a little bit boy that's pretty pretty cool I have no idea how much this weighs but it's more than you and I can lift well it wasn't a hugely successful evening I didn't get the big log up to the house and it's got the trail block to come down and get that with the tractor but tomorrow night I'll come down here I should be able to get that log out it's not supposed to rain till Friday every day it dries up just a little bit more and then we'll come down get that big slab I cut off there we'll seal it up throw it in a garage for a couple months or something and then do like a ring count on it then so we're talking about our facebook page earlier melissa has a nice story to share there so Sheriff her picture hunter our son Hunter has autism is nonverbal you're familiar he's our oldest he had a doctor's appointment yesterday and I shared the picture at the Allegheny Health Network the Wellness pavilion where the appointment was of him and we had some kind comments we read them to him he instantly acts like he's embarrassed for this short up over his face really enjoyed the interaction but the appointment went well he was an angel he totally went in crossed his legs and put his hands behind his head and I'm like what are you doing he usually doesn't act that way never you can usually tell him in the first five seconds there's something going on here this guy and she's like well well you're doing really well and and what's new and we shared with the doctor that hunters dad and he's part of the YouTube channel so she's like oh no I'll have to check it out and I said yeah he had some fast overnight fame and he was all smiles yeah on the way out of the appointment to the to the car he was able to get bottle pop from this soda from the vending machine he was pretty excited but I called Mike him like they put on well he was so well behaved you you almost didn't even know he had autism he was just blah blah until we passed Burger King and he lost it they weren't open yet for lunch and if you go there when they just have breakfast he doesn't get real happy about that anyway but he but he did really well with the doctor's appointment and he does really it's funny because you know even though he's nonverbal and if you'd meet him you you probably I don't know I'll just say this he understands way more than what he lets on and when we talk about like the comments that people mention hunter and say hi to hunter and things like that he really enjoys that and and we really appreciate that we really do it's very kind of you and it it means a lot it does it goes a long way it does you know plenty of horror stories over the years so those little comments and clicks are so kind and me so much to ask you family and and our other children it's incredible but anyway I think that's it for today's video like we always say if you enjoy these videos please hit the like button that really matters click subscribe and share them with your friends [Music] you
