4-year old drummer, LJ and Daddy talk about LJ's drums

hi my name is lj and i'm going to show you my drum set all right [Music] so this is your old set jay the spl kicker pro this is the classic remember when you might remember when we bought you this that is it too you're on your two-year birthday you remember that jay you don't remember do you no but i always remember because i'm born now what's up with the country accent so spl kicker pro 18 inch kick it was an eight eight and a 10 inch um toms i think it was a 12 inch floor tom a 4 inch 12 inch floor timer four that's that's not four but okay and then 12 it came with a 12 inch snare uh but he has a tenon snare so let's get all this stuff unpacked and we'll we'll talk about it ready ready to set it up yep so guys let me show you how to set it up okay so put the chair put the phone on the chair and then we'll show okay [Music] okay guys so here's his new pearl decade maple set and all right jay okay so okay guys this is how you do it so this is a 14 inch top 4 14 inch floor tile what else you got jay that's a 12 that's not a inch that's uh let's see if the number's on there well that's the 10. that's a two yeah and that's what is that over there a 12. it's 12 and then and that's do you have remember uh it's the same size as the tongue yeah ten inch snare oh yeah this is a 12 inch 12 and here's his 18 inch kick 18 oh that's a yeah it's good it's the biggest what'd you say that that was big too but that one's the biggest well no they're both they're both 18 inch and they're really big yeah but this is the biggest yellow so we'll pull out the symbols and uh let me talk about the uh let's talk about the hi-hat stand since i have it up basically he has a dw what what what the hi-hat stand is this jay uh dw six thousand dw six thousand i have to go to my closet and get something okay see ya uh basically guys what i did was um i had the guys at the shop cut cut this pole cut cut this pole so that it doesn't bottom out um and so we can have it low so this is a custom-made hi-hat and all you got to do is cut you know cut off a piece of the of the metal so that you can lower it and then i put some tape here so i can always remember how far down jay likes it so it's a regular stand this stand um was about i don't know how much it is but um uh yeah so you just cut the cut the pole and i did the same to uh his snare snare stand also just take this off and cut it that way it can go lower for a really small amount really small yeah the stands that come with the uh the kids sets they just don't they can't withstand the amount of drumming that lj does so they just broke really easily so the better alternative is just to invest in some some better gear and then just try to cut things down to the size leave that on there so yeah we'll keep setting up and we'll show you how we set it up okay let's show them hey guys so here's a tip or a hack or whatever you want to call it someone asked about uh the pedal and that their child couldn't reach it well when lj first got his set when he was two he also could not reach the pedal so what i did was i just got some styrofoam um and i i taped it on onto the pedal i cut it you know cut it to fit and then just taped it around the pedal so that it added um it lifted it up for him and then he was able to to reach the pedal um and then you know as he grows i would come back and kind of measure uh maybe i would shave it down a bit and then eventually i was able to remove it completely [Music] [Music] the difference between using a 10 and a 12. um [Music] okay great that's cool so 10 and 12 so uh the bigger the snare the farther away from the drums it's gonna push it's going to push them so i mean inches really matter when you're dealing with um small drummers so he can sit much closer to the kit with a 10 inch and then reach the toms uh even better um and so that's why we found a nice tin that's great instead of using 12. so we're just working right now and we're going to [Music] [Music] so let's talk about your symbol sizes so this is a 12 30 12 inches and 30 do you remember what cm stands for no centimeters okay so let's just do this let's just do the first number that's what most people use 12 12 inch a 12 inch 12 inch brush uh a 14 inch fifth so what does this say can you read that fast nice fast crash what about your high hat what size is your height baby it's a [Music] it's a 12 12 okay 12 inch high hats all [Music] [Music] a 10 inch and it's a okay yeah and i have whole new one it's a symbol that's wholly [Music] ak okay nice so daddy you're talking about it all right he's off yeah so basically i mean i just smooshed everything in as close as possible um push everything in as close as possible for him toms down uh oh hold on jay i need to fix that seat it's not all
