4 NEW fish species in 1 Day!

oh my goodness oh these are the sickest that is the coolest thing i've ever seen have i got this good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another sami hitski fishing adventure you're joining me out on my boat full spread and we've got a special guest today none other than sean whale now a little story about sean he didn't actually want to be here today this is his second option he had a hunting trip that he planned after we planned this fishing trip and he was all keen to go on that it fell through and he came crawling back what have you got to say for yourself it wasn't about not wanting to go fishing it was just the company i was a bit worried about that's all and to be honest with you mate i'm pretty keen to show you the ropes on your boat uh look i'm excited for date dropping today so there was a few concerns that sean had lost touch with the common man so we've got him out on a real boat for a change to see how he performs but we are literally 70 k's offshore and have a go at this weather it is out of control there's bugger all current we're going to fish the deep who knows what we'll catch but i hope we can show you something cool today thank you very much i love it i've been fishing bait for a while we've got electrics we've got jigs we've got everything we need to penetrate the depth a we've got a bit of a mullet and squid combo going on here i think we say it every time we go deep dropping we'd love to see a flametail snapper today just about anything though anything would would put a smile on the door geez it's not it's not a style of fishing for clean hands is it right now you've got to get it all in the water without tangling so i've got five hooks going on there's number five all right are you dropping shawna you good i'm away and we're away it's as easy as that now we we're fishing in about 228 meters and that seems to be the best part of burger all current which is awesome it's always a good time look at something yeah oh i did yeah i got something [Applause] look at that slimy tail kick oh that's fair fish yeah i've got a fish i've got a fish it's got a bit of a head shake this is exciting guys first hook up of the morning i don't think mine's definitely not big you got a good one oh shawna's on yep there's a couple of bites little nibbly boys nibbly boys doing the electric boogaloo yeah the boys are having a go the boys are having a go oh this is exciting what are see this is what i love about deep dropping is you just never know what is going to come up next you literally never know fishing in 220 meters of water could be anything could be anything could be nothing could be a sinker spinning i really hope it's not they really don't look big no but they're still on that's the main thing this is the main thing 10 meters away there's a bit of color what have we got what have you got what have you got i don't know i can't even see it it's long it's long yeah what is it oh it's a gem fish a little jelly you're kidding me oh i've just we've got a gem fish what do you got um i think i've got two jam fish what is this one is it a good one oh come on listen to him he's ragging out me spot just because he caught a green eye green eye gang his back green eye going back but i got a gem fish that's a little gem fish these guys get heaps bigger particularly down south in sydney sort of way uh quite good eating aren't they sean they're unbelievable i love jammies quite a rich like fatty type of fish but um tastes unbelievable well there you go there's there's one set of fangs on him that is the smallest jimmy i've ever seen ah you didn't see the one i caught on a jig last year yes well that's pretty cool i'm happy about that oh i got something cooler than sean so we'll call that a win the old demon circle did its job hung in there nicely jammy boy you're getting heaps of yeah oh i got one as well well we've both got little fish there we go getting close in there 20 metres of string out i got cover see ya ish i might have nothing yeah you have a color i've got nothing i just bought up nothing from ages up i'm gonna fish oh that's soft two one's red one's a shark one's a nanny or a perch what is that that's a nanny is it nanny is it yeah that's definitely you have that one how does this work i don't know but you're really good at catching those i just hate putting my hands near them you're like an expert they got beautiful so green eye not so great me nanny mini none he'd probably go back though he's not real big these guys release pretty well which is cool you would have seen us catch a few of their bigger brothers and sisters from previous episodes all right pretty parcel to a jig as well there you go little nunny look at the sun on that we might go for a sound i think bit of a sound around what do you got what is a good nanny oh that's a belter nanny that's that's bigger than the other one i got in the jig i reckon you reckon i might as well just bring mine up i've got something on there i think that might be my pb nanny look at that nothing much better than that kraken fish well we've got one for the esky now one for the esky now say it once i'll say it a thousand times if you're gonna do it do it as good if not better than seano and thanks for coming that is a big big nun big gun on and then this thing that one pretty are you referring to its prettiness white red and white oh look i got that rash looked at it's the doctor said it was fine no so we've got it's like a it's a snapper obviously a snapper of some description it's a snapper looking shape but it's got these crazy yellow fins and yellow markings pretty cool that's one for the uh the internet to diagnose i'm not sure what that one is but yeah be nice if he's a couple of kilos bigger like this guy all right guys we're in uh 330 meters we're getting bites have you got something pretty decent it felt good but like i mean three hundred and something right it's hard oh i reckon you've got mine oh no yeah you definitely have mine i think the problem more is is a fish like spiral how far off are you [Music] good um whoa there it is there now the bottom one is something else there's something else i think there's a nanny in there yeah two sharks is it an a yeah and a shark i don't think it is a nanny oh no it's not it's a red thing it's a weird boy okay very cool but unfortunately this not as much not as much oh my god that's cool grab it around that around the face that looks gnarly oh no oh cool get them off is that something like mad scorpion fish i don't know don't drop it on my foot though look at that no idea what it is i'm gonna say a spiky deep sea perch perch cod look at the mouth on it i think it's gonna be tasty but i i'm gonna need a little bit of help identifying what that is have a look at it it's like a lionfish it does a bit way tastier probably going in the bin well guys we are currently in 424 meters [Music] oh yeah [Music] yeah yeah i think so yeah yeah boy [Music] [Applause] [Music] how did we end up together we dropped ages apart well guys we're gonna take a little intermission break and deal with this i don't know what's going my fish is just about up [Applause] [Music] what is it is it a big shark what the hell is that oh dear i think i've got like a proper shark serious yeah getting away from mine what now oh wow what do update um i either have a big blue shark or a mako shawn is still on [Music] i might just leave this out there until you get yours up in case you got something good maybe it ate mine on the way up yeah because you remember that big yank yeah that's what it was if it's a mako are we keeping it really a bit of hassle they're delicious no it's really cool there you go what are you calling that there's heaps of stuff going on there yeah there's cods oh are they raised rays oh heaps of them yeah boy oh yes today you do oh my god i called it oh my god [Laughter] yes oh my goodness oh these are the sickest that is the coolest thing i've ever seen have we got this for ray cebrim that is so cool yes yes wow well well wow wow that's sick righto let's deal with this guy and then see what's going on with your feet a bit of a mess on the boat here that's all of the c brim that might have been did it they hit you on the way down or yeah you wouldn't be at it no i know i didn't hit the bottom i was like oh that's a bite must have hit the bottom but briefly you know get a look at this guy see what he is yeah oh no what is this thing oh it is a mako it's a good size maker and i've got a mako shark wow i reckon i would have had something else and he's eating it on the way up hey for sure how do we what do we do here what's your biggest gaffe that that little one yeah have you got a towel right you've got a rope on the boat uh yeah in in the um i've got like a nose rope on there [Music] oh no i've still got i'll give it a whirl you might just have to go later i don't think he's that little i like [Music] [Music] there [Music] oh and rightfully so i'd prefer to keep what i had on the first time not the not the mako but that's cool that is so cool i'm assuming they're good size too oh they look good sauce name come over here mate come over here name a cooler fish in the ocean i don't think you can i don't think so they are the angry birds of the ocean look at them they look like a little piranha cross with i don't know something that's really silvery and big with a bit of purple through it yeah that's right these i reckon i had just too small of white not as i was coming down i reckon i ate it before i hit the bottom is what i think happened that is cool and then i had something from the bottom and turned into a mako so pretty successful drop we might do this one again i think i think so this is the coolest thing ever i'm so stoked about that that is awesome that is apparently these things are red hot eating too ah and we got four i've got four of them and the skipper claims a lot that is epic that is the coolest thing ever in my life that is the best thing that's what i like about deep dropping a lot of people give it a bit of a knock but you just never know what you're gonna get and it takes a bit of skill to find fish oh we've been dropping us now what is it nearly 10 in the morning we've been out here since before light look at that man that is so cool that is profile yes bro well guys i thought i'll get a few complaints if i didn't at least have a crack on the jigs so that's a 500 gram mustard rip roller i'm gonna send it down in about 420 metres of water let's see what eats it if it comes up with a green eye i'm putting it straight away that's that's the promise i'm gonna make you guys i'm doing it for you but i have my limits god speed gee boy yeah i don't know how much more i've got to drop but it would be a bit turns out 400 plus is a long way down i've got to wind this back in though that's the problem [Music] handy oh have a go at that for a show that's better we are just coming on to an epic bit of show please hit the bottom oh sammy's on the bottom i'm on the bottom in 440 meters you got one yet you got any bites at least so that's how much lines out for a 440 meter drop most of it [Music] but on the upside i get to respool so [Music] i get do a really nice lay job on the way back up [Music] turns out it's quite a long way down um i thought the jig might have been fouled landed all the way up it wasn't which is good um bad because it's now at the surface but that's all right didn't catch a green eye so i might even give it another go let's go wait for sean to catch something so it could be the last drop of the day well we've just changed spots come back into 250 light a lot in light shallow by uh our standards just dropped the jig down gave it two jigs got a hook up still that big 500 gram jig it's not doing anything too crazy to be honest but it's nice to be hooked up sean i got oh there's a bit of a show coming on there sean i gotta buy it [Music] i'd love to get a little id on this please don't be a shark it's not doing enough head shakes and stuff for a shark could be a nanny could be a like a small cod [Music] got color might be uh nani is it yeah it is a good nanny well i don't know we just can't get away from him which isn't a bad thing is he gonna lift no he's not ah [Music] that's getting up there have a go with that yeah that's a real one that's a big nanny a little scared of a jig oh that's a 500 gram jig i reckon that might be the pb now well that is a serious serious nana guy 500 gram jig second bounce off the bottom this guy clunked it then you get some really nice quality ones of these guys haven't found our cod for the day but we've still got a couple of drifts left in us [Music] a few more of these would be nice that's a donkey well guys we didn't get the flamey the barre chord or what else were we chasing everything else didn't get any blue eye but we did get rey's sea room now and america in america that was pretty cool too and a weird thing that i need to research what it is that's there's a few new species kicking around today the ray cream that is the highlight of my deep dropping career as short as it is but to get four of those in one drop and then a make out it was just a lot to take in and i think over the next coming days it's really gonna seek in what just happened there's a bit on there's a little bit on there but no that was a pretty cool little session epic weather got a bit crappy towards the end there but we survived unfortunately didn't get any of their actual target species but that just leaves them they're on the list for next time yeah a bit more searching around i reckon as you go um slowly dialing it in yeah exactly right we're starting to fish a bit deeper now as well which is um you know a bit harder as well yeah so it's good to it's not as hard as you when those razor broom come up well i was so excited i can't wait to try one i reckon they're going to be absolutely superb well that's the perfect segue sean shawn's actually donated two for me to the hitzki foundation and i'm gonna actually fill those up for you and we're gonna have a bit of a cook up just to see what they taste like i've heard good things uh never filtered one never tried one and mate i'm excited thank you for coming out no i've been absolutely awesome man i'm gonna i reckon they've got the whitest flesh ever i'm just gonna just throw in that prediction i can tell i can tell really awesome all right guys we'll see you back at the filling table well guys very cool session i think we landed four new species today so that's pretty fun um time for fill it up though we're gonna fill it up these pomfret now that's them there they did say it look like they're straight out of an alien movie haven't got the head on them dead set one of the coolest looking fish i've ever seen i reckon very jealous that sean i got to catch them all but my chance will come apparently fantastic eating but have a go at that the colors on these things when they came out of the water was absolutely incredible i can't wait to see if we can find some more but that's very cool and then this guy here my new pb nanoguy i put it on the scales and it's 1.61 kilos so getting bigger i think the goal now is to catch one around that two kilo mark that would be a really good fish but uh either way very good eating time to knock some fillets off these guys right oh i get it i know my garage is still long but i will mow it soon glad we addressed that issue got a scale here going to see if they do scale i don't think so that's like they're super stuck on those scales so i think the best bet to do best thing to do would just be skin them keep in mind this is the first time i've ever filleted one of these so i'm just going to feel my way through and see here we go sharp knives full hearts can't lose [Music] these scales are like knife fruit [Music] that's um that's pretty cool those scales are dead set almost knife proof they are pretty difficult to get through definitely a skin job yeah nice flesh on it's quite firm i reckon it's going to cook up a treat i've heard really good things i know they're a commercial target species as well so that's got to be a good sign looking forward to it they are very cool fish nice flesh on it okay guys it is time for a taste test now we're not going to do any fancy recipes we don't know any recipes at all today actually just want to see how this fish performs see what it's natural flavor it's like all i'm going to do is add a bit of salt and pepper to it cook it in the pan and uh yeah we'll have a little chew this up pepper in the hot plate and uh i'll get back to you when it's all cooked up all right well don't want to overcook it so i reckon that'll just about do it i'll give it a minute or two to rest and uh that should be ready to rock and roll beautiful [Music] yum well guys it cooks up an absolute treat i cook left a little bit pink in the middle and then rested it so it cooks right through but uh let's give it a bit of taste test oh yeah still nice and moist which is awesome i have burnt myself on these shows before so i'm gonna give it a quick second to cool down that is lovely it's definitely got a um a bit of a flavor to it uh quite a nice pleasant texture like um a kingfish but uh i would definitely say more tasty tastier than a kingfish but super nice and moist guys that is absolutely gorgeous you wouldn't probably want to do too much to it because uh this fish would really shine on a plate the problem is now we've got to find more of them oh everything from the deep is so tasty that's unreal um 10 out of 10 do recommend if you ever see it on a menu or in a fish shop give it a crack pomfret raised sebring whatever they're called in your area definitely worth a try guys we're not going to do a tackle talk this week good news is though i have some
