3AM COASTAL FORAGING - Gathering Clams, Cooking On The Beach ! GIANT STARFISH !

Oh guys a backsplash mission currently out at 1:00 in the morning we got some horse oh yeah we're gonna do a bit of a coastal foraging and cook up what we catch by hoping to find a lobster this time so fingers crossed stay tuned guys it's mash fish it got some new toys with us today who got the old net and just gone out and brought this one a really long deep one for the shrimps hell yeah couple of pockets gotta live well as well we want to keep them as fresh as possible and we got the good old lobster hooks baby so everyone can find some guys we've got a really low really low tide I'm gonna end up hopefully find something to eat fingers crossed Harriet just finish comp the fishing you would have seen that video already so what we've gone is decide to come out early hours in the morning again when all the critters are walking around I'm gonna have a nice cook up on the beach lovely night not a breath of wind they say oh yeah stay tuned guys ready for this one what we're primarily looking forward today guys is anything that's pretty much edible we're looking for all sorts of species we look with my some lady crabs maybe a lobby never know Kelly could find anything around here Shanker lobster squat lobsters you name it and you can see the grounds very bouldery he always tell the really low water marks a saml the brown weed everywhere how are you hoping to find some stuff guys it's a really cool looking an enemy's walking through the rocks calls both got waders on today once we get to the bigger boulders at the bottom we start looking under a carry it if anyone knows any of the seaweeds at the portal I think most of it is I know this green lettuce one is a small brown edible crab there or Shanker there's life everywhere tonight this is why we come out at nighttime there's so much life out here this is a velvet swimming crab these are edible but we want a big ones in this oh yeah guys finding the stuff now Sam's just found an Alma guys we're not in the right right date for it so we can't take any of these today there's some big shrimps just down here so I'm gonna try and get them where's my net this is exactly what we brought this net for so we can sort of spook them in gonna mate I will go to the deeper pools mate there's more round there I'm gonna put this rock back here for me always always a good idea to put your rocks back boys hey I've been calm already we're gonna head straight to the deeper part looking for some lobsters we're nearly here now you want to try and catch them before they try and move out the rock pools that's why we wanted to get down here at a certain time hopefully hopefully they're here 1 o'clock in the morning and we're wading through the sea that's what it's all about it's not all about rod fishing we'd like to get out man pooling or whatever you want to call it grown really fond of the captain Kooks as well such a peaceful night not a breath of wind Amy well let me shrink down dear we finally got to that deeper part we were talking about the big boulders get some water in the bucket hell yeah what's all about maybe a few shrimps nice one there guys all I'm doing with the net is straight in the rock pool just shimmying it round there you go another good one there guys some nice sized shrimp those check this out just walk it along there and check what I just found this is what we wanted but not big enough but a lobster all the same a little meat we mini one and what it was doing is leaving the rock pools to get out to sea that's what they do around here see and then we just need his mama really how are ya quacking that will find that gonna get this little bugger back home now guys you came from down here that's wicked that can't be a little Lobby if you can see that where my finger is mini spider crab cool-looking little things these cool-looking little spider crab there guys check him out completely camouflage getting some nice little finds at the moment guys no big lobster yet but we're still searching all the big rocks have all been uncovered now so you can have a right old look around you can get some big lobsters around here as well hopefully we can find one check this out for a starfish and absolute mammoth I'm gonna quickly get it out get you a better show the size of that guy's an absolute monster of a starfish I don't but you can eat these ones are gonna plug him back in the water these guys home back now yeah we're still searching for a lobster at the moment then later on we're gonna start finding the smaller critters like the shrimps and the prawns and stuff what that Lobby first hope for me gone for a change of plan guys we're gonna ditch this spot and head to another one quickly we know another spot with lobster holes on and we've got a better chance of a lobster there anyway and hopefully in the deeper rock pools we'll find some bigger shrimps so let you know when we get there guys oh yeah I'm on a mission baby so all of the shrimps and the lies well now guys a little bit more water keep them nice and fresh for the cook pot baby see you at the other spot check this out guys we're on our way back there just found one of these can anyone I think this is a stickleback if anyone can identify that for me they looked really cool love the look of them I'm gonna get this released now guys if you could tell me what that is in the comments that'd be great oh you got a bees so I've got a beast porn there that's what we were talking about where's the live well going to play blur put it still shrimping guys this is really fair up utak we're literally just walk around in silence right now just like waving the net than the water this is great fun I don't recommend doing this alone anyone to be honest always go with a friend just in case you get in a bit of bother because the tide will rush up very quickly on tides like this just made it to the new spot guys got about another 100 meter walk to the spot we're walking over places are not usually uncovered but this this especially it's great fun what we're going to do is head straight for the lobster holes if there's no lobsters there then we're gonna get on to just trying to pour and anything just to see what we can eat baby there yeah check the connors on that some sort of like coral plant awesome looking that's the thing with nighttime you could literally stumble across anything these little blue plants are really cool there yeah that's when you know you've hit a real tidal mark you know you start seeing all sorts of weird plants that you don't you normally see I don't know if you can see the blue weed with the camera where it is guys that plant looks amazing the camera just doesn't do it justice like a luminous blue cool we're walking into the lobster territory now we're on full bag rail mode guys got a decent sized lady crab here guys this one's gonna go in the bucket is a feisty one big red eyes oh yeah another lovely sized lady crab this gonna that's gonna cook up a beast that will oh no she just seen it walking it on the edge there so what I did is I just grabbed it this here is called a squat lobster okay I don't know if there's a size limit to these it might be so I'm not gonna keep him and Chuck him back nice to see those just working our way back now guys we didn't find a lobster in the end but we're finding some wild mighty shrimps down here got loads of them so a couple of lady crabs there as well to munch so basically we're just working our way home now just home sorry back to the van to get the cooker and stuff in the meantime I'm gonna keep searching for some nice prawns and stuff and see if we can get baby woo change of plan guys this took a lot longer than what we thought we did yeah it's now caught 4:00 to 5:00 in the morning big old pile of shrimp in there check those out some nice up there and what we're gonna do is we're gonna go to bed tonight and then wake up in the morning and cook these bad boys up we got two nice lady crabs here nice big ones whoo so next morning and with my niece we're going down the beach we've still got all the prawns and the the lady crabs at home we're gonna try and get some razor fish just to finish it off give it a little taste hopefully we find so many lilz hell yeah stay tuned you guys what we're using to try and get these it's just table salt we pour it in the holes once we get to the mark we'll see how they come up awesome this is what we're looking for guys as you can see the little hole gonna stand out there is foot sex week thank you and what we've got here is a little hole this this could be clamped you're looking for sort of a keyhole shape what we do is just a check get some table salt straighten the holes another one there and hopefully we get one popping out right away come check them after sometimes the razors would be straight just laying on the beach hey guys this one's starting to calm out I think and what they do is they're trying to expel the salt it's too much salt for them is what ends up happening they come out okay guys it's just coming up hell yeah just waiting for him to come up a little bit more that looks like a nice one that it oh you're waiting for it just to come out look at that I think that's a clam that there we go he's out baby gonna get him those thank you guys that's how you catch raises that there is a clam head that's what that's a big clam should we dig him out those stay tuned guys we're gonna dig him out and see if we can get him doing guys I'm just working my way down it's better if you got a fork for these some of these can be 2 foot deep I can feel him truck get him up every guy check that out guys absolute whopper so that's gonna go to the Captain Kirk you want to put that in the back sweetie oh yeah coastal foraging baby it's gonna be a good old taste test today guys that's one razor one clam lucky that clam wasn't very deep they're great bait for bass as well these big clams no we're doing is just walking around with a table salt just waiting for the holes there's a perfect example of a razor fish holes you see it's like a key what we're doing is literally just walking around waiting to see like a squirt or something like that you can see the little salt box we've left the bag just walk around get it as many done as we can sometimes they take a long time to come up sometimes they don't we're on a clam bed at the moment so there's a lot of clams here but there is the order raised the fish that comes up it run out salt guys but we're digging them up here knows just walking along digging them out with the hands we don't need many we just want to do enough for a catch and cook or the in our coastal forwards and should I say and more out with the hands well I'm doing it Fanning it out light I'm finding them like that that's why you shouldn't dig them with your hands guys that's why they call them Razorfish a lily yeah you dig them with your hands and they cut you a little washed off you better we're gonna get back home now guys and start cooking stay tuned hi guys the next day we're currently down the beach what everyone's in bed gonna start cooking up got a bit of a disaster started off with I'm gonna do is steam all the seafood I have a munch on the beach so a CYO tastes like guys stay tuned absolutely beautiful dad as you can see bright sunshine clear sky oh I'm doing to kick these guys it's just going to get some water in the pan just a little bit do it on doing this steaming everything today I'm gonna put the crabs in the first one and the shrimps and the razor fish in the last one because I want them to they be cooking a lot faster trying to get this all cooking guys get you a better shine giving this pot a little rinse out there little shards of glass in it I just put all the rest in the bag that I've got the top [Applause] just willing to get it all out last thing I want to do is beat glass I got my trainers on today so I want to get wet my little cooking station will give you a better shove it in a sec guys this is actually really fun it's my cooking station I just put it behind the rock there because of the wind a shot glass and their nightmare that's where I'll have it when I'm eating the food my bottom with this is lots of dog walkers on the beach I've just climbed down got some fresh water in here everything's very much alive there's a nice porns and there's minty so awesome lady crabs you know those are going to taste awesome I've tried lady crabs in the past and they're really sweet we've got a nice nice background today as well that's why I wanted to come down the beach that's the crabs in then we go lovely big razor clams well yeah I taught those in the top we got a lovely big floors the giant clam died last night so I didn't really want to eat it I wanted to eat all the fresh stuff really and chucking the porns in I've never tried the shrimp without garlic butter so I just wanted to steam everything just to give it a good taste that got sea salt that way Gerber's a lot more for locks get the rest away get cooking guys that's what it's all about cooking on the beach baby smelling lovely this guy's crabs are looking nicely orange that is then going to take long to cook as you can see the clams are started open or not now guys please don't take long to cook whatsoever when I let them cook out a little bit longer porns ain't ready yet oh yeah found my plate guys nice flat rock there it's what it's all about some new fans they want a bit of my shrimp grab the look at awesome I'm gonna give these good ten fifteen minutes steaming the reason that looking looking pretty well done at the moment and I give them a couple more minutes I'll get the camera on the tripod and give you a taste test guys give you a little close-up can't tell me that don't look good right there I tried the razor clams first get it again the now on the rocks oh yeah you see the meat loads of meat in these things absolutely lovely awesome day no wind lots of traffic though and dog walkers it's why it's all about Guernsey get on the beaches start cooking some food oh yeah this is a razorfish guys a big meaty paw and then the head of it you can't beat the absolutely delicious bit more salt got a lot of traffic browser apologize for the noise got crack open a beer when you want the feet oh yeah I sold cider try a few shrimps here caught like four in the morning being sand down the beach and the razor fish with my niece next day and then today we'll cook it there you go will you do is peel them off nice bit of meat there you can't go wrong reforms they're always good it's just a it's a lot different this sort of content I love going forward year and they're looking for all moves and stuff like that absolutely brilliant nothing better on the beach beer seafood lovely day that's the lady crabs guys it's gonna crack off a nice claw they smell amazing absolutely amazing and the shelves usually quite soft so you can break it and the meat inside these are so sweet lovely piece of meat there so they use the end of his claw get the rest out lady clubs are surprisingly good you didn't get a huge amount of meat out of them but they don't have to taste good it's a bit like spider crab it's very sweet hell yeah give that crush there's the cool meat nose give me a little close-up check that out absolutely delicious so I always recommended to go down the beach eating with your family go down get a few shrimp or crabs give them a try even cook them up on the beach bring
