this is Final Fantasy 16 and I've put about  60 hours into the game completing all the main   quest and side quests so here are some early game  tips to help you on your adventure are you ready   all right let's get Clive and Torgo some early  game tips now when you do play a new game in Final   Fantasy you're gonna have the option of story  Focus which is going to be really good for players   who just want to get through cutscenes and enjoy  the story and not have to worry about combat and   listen it's definitely worth it if you just want  to play for story's sake now if you're someone   who loves combat and doing things in the game  with Combos and Wombo Combos and enemies being   a lot harder go for the action Focus because this  is going to train you for the end game so when   you are done with your current save and you start  your new game plus you'll have Final Fantasy mode   which will raise the cap to level 100 a lot more  powerful enemies and action Focus will prepare   you for what lies ahead in Final Fantasy mode in  this game mode enemies will be around the early   to mid 40s when you start off and progressively  get harder you want to be around this level by   the time you finish your main game so you can  be on par with enemies in Final Fantasy mode   the combat moves in this game are heavily inspired  by Devil May Cry because the person who made those   moves in Devil May Cry also worked on this game  so if you're coming from the those kind of games   I suggest using a specific controller option in  order to do this but let's go over them so the   default way of playing is listed as the type A  which is probably one of the most difficult ones   to use when it comes to combo potential it's  gonna feel strange to a lot of people coming   from other games with this kind of battle format  wireless controller layout type B is going to be   more of a Soul's born styles that most players  will find comfortable however it's going to be   really tough to do special combination moves with  this one and it's not going to be the best way to   play now type c is going to feel a lot harder for  players at first but it's something that will be   easily manageable and something that you'll  be able to adapt with it's also going to be   the most easiest when it comes to combination  moves and many experienced players will enjoy   this especially if you came from the Devil May  Cry series it'll take some time for you to get   used to it but it'll be worth the effort and  you'll be performing combos like a pro in the   game and feel free to comment down below your  suggestions on the controllers as well as mine   are just an opinion here's a map tip for you  so when you you see your Overworld you're going   to be seeing these blue icons these blue icons  are going to be the open areas these are going   to represent blue Obelisk and the maps are not  completely open world necessarily and while you   may think these are completely different locations  they're just located within one entire region so   keep that in mind if you find a red icon on the  screen that red icon is going to be a dungeon   slash instance where you're going to be going into  that it's going to be very linear you're going to   complete that and that's going to progress your  story forward you're going to find multiple of   these throughout your journey you're going to be  able to repeat all of these via the Hideaway by   going to the stone and if you missed any treasure  chests there on these red instances that's where   you'll be able to go back and do it again and you  can get experience there as well these are going   to be cities on your map and unfortunately they're  not going to be explorable that sucks because some   of them look really cool in the cutscene so keep  that in mind you're only going to be having these   dungeon instances that take place in the cities  whenever you find yourself in an open area and you   see this blue it glowing make sure to run up to  it these are Obelisk and they're going to unlock   fast travel points so that if you die you'll  respawn here also when you're fast traveling   you can come over to these spots all you have to  do is just approach it get really close to it and   it's unlocked let's say you're completely out  of potions in this game for example I have zero   High potions and zero regular potions well you can  either spend a lot of guilt to get those or check   this out I'm just gonna go ahead run up to this  boss and absolutely self-sabotage herself and die   all right I'm about to die pay attention to my  high potions and potions and when you have a   game over it says restart from the nearest oblisk  oblis it says restart from the oblisk oblisk I say   that really weird and when you restart okay check  this out all of a sudden I have the max amount of   potions and the max amount of high potions but  this only applies to potions and not things like   tonics so keep that in mind I think one of the  biggest flaws of this game is the fact that when   you're exploring areas there are no mini maps on  the bottom of your screen because that's where   they put the abilities so when you're finding and  locating things around your map you're gonna have   to use the local map from your menu to constantly  see what you're finding something really important   that you should do is follow along the edges  and look for dead ends on any open area maps   by open area maps I mean any single location that  has a blue Mark these are the Spots You're Gonna   Want to look for because when you approach  a spot you can see that there is actually a   chest located right over here I already opened  it but these chest do exist on dead ends so go   ahead and take out all the enemies within an area  and then get access to your loot after completing   certain quests in the game you'll get access  to the Hideaway now in The Hideaway there's a   few important things that you should note one  is going to be the RT Stone where you're going   to be able to do a lot of combat based things and  repeat adventures in the game the hollow virtues   where you're going to be able to train against  enemies which will go over in detail then it's   going to be arcade mode which you're going to be  trying to get a high score within the game you can   set the cutscenes on or off if you just want to  experience the fight straight up over here then   you have the stage replay and these are going to  be really important in your game because if you   forgot a treasure chest or you want to explore the  area and you felt like you didn't find something   you can go ahead click on one of these go explore  the area again and find various items and you can   also gain XP by doing these again make sure to  always go up to any shopkeeper you find in the   game especially Sharon and buy all the items that  she has off of her just so you can have it in your   collection the items that show up in the shop are  going to be progression in base so the Morris main   story Quest you do the more items that will start  to show up in the shop now when you buy all these   items off Sharon you're gonna also be able to go  ahead to the blacksmith and be able to upgrade   them so when you talk to Blackthorn make sure to  always go ahead and see what weapons that you can   craft in the game not only that but make sure to  select R2 if you're on PlayStation or if you're on   PC in the future go to reinforce to see which  of the following weapons you can also upgrade   it's very important to see what's available on  upgrading so don't forget that when you go look   at the accessories and the armbands to do that  also Sharon is going to have access to other   expensive jewelry so keep that in mind these are  going to enhance certain abilities that you have   that you purchase with your ability points a big  Pro tip when it comes to Sharon and Blackthorne is   constantly check their equipment and compare it to  each other to see who is offering you the better   one if you have money you can usually buy things  off of Sharon but if you don't have money and you   have loot that drop you can also go to Blackthorne  also note that you can take Sharon's equipment and   you can also upgrade it via Blackthorn so that's  something you need to keep in mind as well every   time you complete a main story in the game or make  progress and kill a monster or different events in   the game make sure to go over and talk to well  I nickname him Harpo or when you talk to him   you're gonna be able to process all your stuff  and gain your knowledge level going up so as I   talk to him you tell him about your adventures  and then that's going to level up so make sure   you're always doing that that way you know what  events are happening in the game this is a very   heavily story based game so you're going to want  to click on the information and read if you ever   happen to get lost so do this in your spare time  so you can see what you have to read about in the   left side area you're gonna have the orchestra  on and this is going to be really helpful for   you for the music choice that you want in the  area you do unlock the sound of silence as you   progress your game so if you don't want to hear  anything or any music and just have it nice and   quiet and hear the natural sounds you can go  ahead and select that otherwise you can select   any of the other music you want and also you'll  be able to buy different tracks from different   and shopkeepers as you explore and maybe unlock  other music with your main story progression now   this character is really important to interact  with when you have side quests all over your   map when you select this you're going to  be able to get the option of the alliance   reports now selecting Alliance reports will allow  different side quests to show up over here that   your character will directly teleport to in order  to initiate them this is going to be very helpful   when you have side quests popping up all over the  map after you defeat a new enemy type you always   want to go back to this Stone over here now when  you access the stone make sure to go into the Hall   of virtue within the hall virtual you'll find your  training mode now the cool part about Holo virtue   is that you can select the middle button on your  controller and you can see all the options that   the game provides you for adjusting and adapting  your combat to practice within the game from   invincibility of the enemy to regening all the way  down to limit breaks and as well as putting your   dog with you in fights the best part about this  combat training like I mentioned was that you   can select whatever enemy you want so so it can  range from small enemies to large enemies in the   game for example if I beat a Minotaur and I want  to train against the Minotaur I can select that   and it'll show up that way I can then practice  and memorize its attack patterns that when I   encounter in the wild I'll be able to do things  like Precision dodging as well as practicing my   Combos and different moves against it hey real  quick make sure to hit that subscribe button so   you can see my dog do cool tricks like torgle do  a barrel roll he could also attack like torgle   something that you really want to pay attention  to in the game is that when you find solo enemies   without a whole horde or group around them and  beat them they're gonna drop a lot of AP for   the example this one drops more and then when I  approach a group of enemies and defeat them like   these scorpions here you'll notice that the AP  amount that drops is going to be a lot more less   so if you're trying to grind enemies out in the  open areas make sure to prioritize the ones that   are Solo or you can just be that kind of gamer  and just keep fighting every enemy totally up   to you whenever you find yourself at any kind  of shop in the game make sure to go ahead and   find the selling tab it's really important because  sometimes you will forget to sell stuff so go over   to your materials and you'll see if it's able to  be used in crafting based on the right side or if   it can be traded for Gill for example this Guild  bug can be traded and you can get 200 gill from   this you can also do the same thing with black  blood so always sell not all shops in the game   are the same so make sure to go visit other shops  in different areas in order to see what wears they   may have for example this Merchant over here is  going to sell me something known as Valley matter   which is going to be used for specific crafting as  well as telling me well look at that a music role   that is not found in the Hideaway so keep this  in mind when you're going to constantly check   the inventory of other shopkeepers also they're  pretty easy to spot because of the symbol when   you open up your items menu do not forget to equip  the ones you're going to need in battle make sure   you select exact one you want for example I want  Stone skin tonic for higher defense and I'm going   to just make sure to add that to my shortcuts  that way it's always there and I'll be ready   to use it in the middle of battle changing these  during the middle battle can be dangerous because   you can accidentally die because it has a small  loading time so do this before you go into any   fight whenever you go into your menu and decide  to unlock an ability with ability points like this   one over here do not forget to equip it onto your  character so you might have two of something else   make sure to go into it and select the exact one  that you may have picked it's very easy to keep   unlocking things and Overlook adding it on so  just make sure you do that at all times and mix   and match to see which ones are actually going  to work out for you pretty well if you wanted   to maximize the specific ability on a specific  icon for example I want to buff garuda's special   ability but look I have it costs 1540 AP points  let's say I'm not using my flames of rebirth move   okay well you can hit square and reset that and I  can be like all right let's just go ahead and use   garudas and experiment with that for now let's  say you go ahead and teleport to an area on the   map and you start to fight all the enemies in this  example I'm just gonna fight all these spiders and   clear out these little dragons here beat them all  up and when I back up you can see that this area   is completely cleared out now if you want to farm  a spot again open up your main world map just like   this and click on the exact location again when  you show back up in that area all the enemies are   going to be completely reset so if you find a very  powerful monster you want to go fight that monster   over and over again to get yourself a good amount  of ability points feel free to experiment anywhere   your map and write in the comments below what's  the best spot you found one of the most important   things that you need to do in this game because  it is is a feature in this game is pet the dog   not even tears of the Kingdom Zelda was able  to let you pet the dogs but in this game you   can pet the dog so game of the year goes to Final  Fantasy 16. now there are two types of side quests   in the game and they're all going to be marked  in green on your maps and in various locations   there's going to be one with exclamation points  these are gonna be the very common ones that you   need to do in order to make a change somewhere  in someone's life later on in the game after the   early game you'll come across these plus ones but  we'll worry about that later they're going to be   unlocking additional features for you in the game  now a big tip about doing these side quests is   that they give you money they give you ability  points and they also give you items the reason   why you want to do every side quest is because of  the experience that also brings most side quests   in this game will send you to a location where you  will fight some enemies and personally I just kept   doing a lot of side quests as they popped up in  the game because instead of just running around   and mindlessly grinding and fighting a bunch  of enemies in the field I just fought all these   the enemies that were shown and present to me in  the side quest and that gave me enough experience   to be able to fight anything in the game if you  don't want to go around the route of just running   aimlessly and fighting a bunch of enemies randomly  in the field then go ahead and do the side quest   now while we're here let's just talk about some  quick combat tips now normally Phoenix shift   looks like a Dodge but it's actually not you can't  really get out of the enemy's way when you try to   do that because that's what happens the Phoenix  shift is really meant to charge towards an enemy   when they gain distance on you so something like  this would be the way to use it and rush it in   any enemy so you're just gonna want to stick to  Precision Dodge and then move in with a phoenix   ship to capitalize off of that Dodge if the  enemy runs past you now if you've unlocked   garuda's ability something I love doing that rips  through Shields like crazy is using gouge look how   fast this eats up Shields and brings them down  to halfway point and if you happen to get them   to the halfway point it's also pretty good to  use once it's below that point to get it down   to the 50 line this image in front of you is not  frozen Gameplay at all in fact this is the phone   photo mode and you can create some very creative  pictures by just placing your character right let   me show you how to pretty much make a really cool  shot and you can start posting these on Twitter   or share on Instagram whatever you want to do so  in order to use Photo mode what you want to do is   get Clive in a pose that you want for example I'm  charging up the sword all the way to Max and then   what I'm gonna do is just hit the menu option  boom done and then once I'm in the menu I'm   going to hit the photo mode option over here and  just like that there is Clive with this sword so   if I wanted to make a cool YouTube thumbnail or  something like that this is what all I gotta do   and you can take away Clive if you want and just  have the effects so you want free particle effects   that you can use and stuff there you go that's  that's how you grab that if you want to go ahead   and also just blur the depth of field to make this  epic shot there's another way of doing it and you   can hide the UI completely and bring your camera  up and you can see the potential of the photos you   can create in here now there are quite a bit  of accessories that will help you out in this   game if you want to make it a little easier for  yourself now there's no Flame by the way if you   want to make it easier it's your game and you play  however you want one of the first items is known   as the Ring of timely focus and when you equip  this time slows before an attack so let's go ahead   and bother this big one over here just like this  and he's gonna go ahead and get ready to attack me   and then we have R1 to move away to get a nice  Precision Dodge as you can see every time the   enemy is going to go in the game's gonna give us  time to move away that way we are always dodging   now this is the ring of timely evasion and pretty  much Clive will automatically Dodge enemies when   you have this equipped so you can feel like uh  you're really doing something in the game here   so I'm just gonna face the enemy let the enemy  do whatever it wants not touching my controller   yeah this is absolutely broken for no reason  this is the ring of timely strikes and basically   all you have to do is press square in order to  perform tons of combos whatever icons you have   equipped this will just show you the potential  so maybe you can see what you can do by just   pressing Square the last accessory that I want  to talk about is the ring of timely healing I   think this might be one of the best ones to  equip early on for new players and also for   seasoned players because it's really annoying to  go into your potion list all the time it's gonna   employ potions on its own so if I take some  damage here it's gonna automatically deploy   so there you go I took a hit and my potion kicked  in as you saw on my health bar it's really good   to practice and hone your combat skills while  not worrying about using your health whenever   you come across an enemy with a giant shield on it  indicated by this yellow bar You're Gonna Want to   take down the enemy shield first and if you have  limit break this is for people when you unlock   limit break you want to activate it right after  the shield breaks and the enemy is staggered at   this point when you use your abilities and deal  damage you're going to do a lot more more damage   while you're limit broken to the enemy and this  is a great part to save it for rather than using   it ahead of time and attacking the enemy to break  the shield because they're most vulnerable when   they're broken you can see the damage comparison  of numbers with the limit break versus damage   comparison without the limit break on this enemy  buy these numbers now that you know how to start   off your early game you should also check out this  video that'll help you a lot in your adventure
