[Music] here's the tale of a man named sea re human generators that keep the power [Music] on from Big brand names to a mistric find one little generator blew his mind what if I told you that I found a generator that is small reasonably lightweight powerful quiet and cheap sounds too good to be true doesn't it well here it is this is the max speeding rods mxr 3500 it is a gasoline powered generator that has the small size and weight of a 2,000 watt class generator however this generator is rated at 3,000 running Watts it's reasonably quiet and perhaps best of all it's available for around 500 bucks now I was contacted by this company more than a year ago and they wanted me to review this unit and I told them UPF front I will probably not do a video on YouTube about this generator why because I've never heard of you and I seriously doubt this generator will meet your claims however here we are more than a year later and I must admit this thing has exceeded my expectations and seems to be a real bargain it produces 3,000 running watts of electricity clean sinewave electricity that is safe for all of your sensitive Electric ICS and yet it's really no larger than a 2,000 watt class generator on the right we have a generator from the yellow brand that produces 1,600 running Watts on the left the orange brand 3,000 running Watts it's the orange brand a surprise so Grand 3,000 Watts at the wave of your hand for camping trips it's a real good friend at just $500 value knows no end setup is quick and easy almost everything you need is included in the box now the generator does not ship with motor oil so you do have to add oil when you're setting up the unit this is gasoline powered and it's got a number of really interesting and desirable features first and foremost if you're an RV traveler this has an included 30 amp RV ready Outlet which I think is a very nice feature so you can plug your RV directly up to the unit you know so often generators in this size class do not include an RV ready Outlet the max speeding rods does so that is a great feature in an inexpensive unit like this it's 30 amp outet is an RV owner Delight CH found a gy what a marvelous sight this also has two USB Outlets built into the unit very nice feature and a couple of 20 amp Outlets built into the unit this generator has a carbon monoxide to detector for safety and it has an economy mode which throttles down the noise output at lower loads I did some basic noise testing and discovered that it meets the manufacturer's claims art with the generator idling and economy mode on it is clocking in at around 58 DB of noise quite acceptable I currently have the generator 25 ft away from the digital sound meter and the exhaust is oriented away from the meter the exhaust side is of course the noisy side of the generator so how does this cheap generator compare to the blue brand well the blue brand cost 1,300 bucks and produces 1,800 running Watts as you might expect the blue brand is more quiet but not by much by less than 1 dcel and remember it cost $800 more while producing $1,200 Watts less this little Max speeding rods is the smallest 3000 watt class generator I have seen is it as quiet as the blue and red Brands no but it costs a fraction of the price and it plays in the same noise output ballpark Max speeding gr is the maker strange name not a big brand like the others but plays just the same quiet soft perr at 58 [Music] DB you're perfect for nights under nature star spectacles for many years I have put all of our generators through the wife's jet engine of a hair dryer test this is my wife's old hair dryer dryer we have power and now I'm going to turn on economy mode and you'll hear the generator throttle down and get a little bit quieter now I'm going to turn on the hair dryer and I'll start out with haird dryer on cool but High fan working good I just ramped it right up we went to high heat High fan so right now the max speeding rods is delivering about 2,000 watts to my wife's hair dryer and you can hear that the generator's gotten a little bit louder under load I mean it's still a lot better certainly than any open frame generator and it's better than a lot of inverter generators out there the generator includes many thoughtful design features like panels that are easily removable so you can access the air filter the oil reservoir and the spark plug the entire package includes not only a cover but also some basic tools tools for the spark plug and you've got a little funnel if you want to add oil note that a parallel cable is included and it is possible to link two of these units together for double the electricity output the manual is fine if you you look on the very first page of the manual you'll find some key technical specifications so it's actually kind of nice that they put it up front the beginning in the manual which is somewhat unusual in fact I was looking towards the back of the manual to find some of that information you don't have to look on the back it's on page one you need to add 0.12 gallons of oil by the way now the start is a lawn mower style pull start the choke is integrated into the main control knob just grab your knob and yank then you rotate the knob to run and if you prefer turn on economy mode although in general I prefer electric starters I have to admit this recoil start has started quickly and easily every time I've tried it even after the unit has been left sitting for a while of course I advise you do not leave any ethanol sitting in the tank for extended periods of time and on the top where you add the fuel I will point out there is no fuel gauge it holds 1.1 Gall of gasoline and if you're running an RV air conditioner which you can do with this unit with confidence you're going to have to refu and you'll need to refuel often because this generator only holds 1.1 gallons of gasoline the small size means a small fuel tank weighs about 47 lb so it's easy to towed around here we have the generator running and I'm lifting it you can see 3,000 WTS of output in a unit that you can lift with one arm I'm impressed and all rotate it off shut it down just turn the knob to off and you can see these rubber Outlet coverings can uh provide some weather resistance in case of inclement weather so a lot of nice features and a surprisingly well-built unit so let's set this unit inside upright and see if the tan of cover will close I think we all see where this is going Tada yes the max speeding rods passes the tono cover test with flying colors no problem whatsoever so here's to the [Music] orange machine the smallest 3,000 watt generator Sean's ever seen all of this begs the question who or what is Max speeding rods well frankly I still don't know although apparently the company specializes in automotive tuning products and it's doing business in 176 different countries worldwide and by the way we were not paid to make this video I do know that this unit has been for sale for more than a year and has racked up almost 700 reviews on Amazon where the current average score of four and a half stars out of five so that's it guys a look at the max speeding rods mxr 3500 yes there will be an affiliate link to the relevant Amazon page for this unit beneath this video jump on that Amazon page and read the reviews that have been left by other owners I think a lot of people out there have been very pleasantly surprised by this value package now as I mentioned at the beginning of this video i' had never heard of this company Max speeding rods and I can't really vouch for their customer service but if you get on the Amazon page you will notice that many other people who have used their customer service have been very pleased note that the warranty for this product is only 1 year and after that time period I guess you're on your own do you have any experience with this company and its
