hey so i see the question asked all the time i want to develop a vr app but i don't have a headset am i doomed the answer is no you are not doomed and it is possible to develop and test your vr app without a headset and there's multiple ways to do it [Music] if you are developing for oculus hmds and you saw my last tutorial you'll know that the oculus integration package comes with a pre-made player controller to handle interaction in the scene what you may not know is that attached to the camera rig is an oculus headset emulator script meaning right off the bat you can test your game by moving around in the scene with wasd while holding down the control key unfortunately you cannot simulate controllers with this method which brings us to our next option now this is the easiest and quickest way to simulate a vr headset in unity but it does come with a price it costs 9.99 usd but what you get in return is a customizable plugin that allows you to control your headset and controllers in the unity scene they are using uni xr plugin framework meaning it works with virtually all vr devices it's a simple two-click solution and if you get stuck they have a discord server and are pretty responsive from what i've seen virtual reality toolkit is a package intended for unity that comes with a bunch of useful prefabs and scripts similar to what we saw with the oculus integration package except this one also supports the steamvr sdk one useful vrtk tool is the vr simulator which has controls mapped to simulate hand tracking as well you can get vrtk in the asset store as well as on github for a more recent version and that's a quick three ways to develop for vr without a headset this is casual xr and i'll see you next time
