cutting holes in objects in blender can be a little bit tricky but here's three ways you can do it first if you have a flat surface you can subdivide it so you have a vertex in the middle then delete the vertex in the middle select the vertices around the perimeter and you can do an ALT shift s in order to adjust those into a circular shape second you can take an object like a cube inset two faces in edit mode and then select the two faces on either side of the object you can then do an F3 and search for bridge Edge loops and this will Bridge the loops on either side and create an opening note that this works on other shapes as well as well as long as they're quad based geometry finally you can use a Boolean modifier to cut an opening I add a Boolean modifier to the object I want to cut and I reference the object that I'm cutting with note that this doesn't always create the best Geometry so you might want to add a remesh modifier after your Boolean modifier if your quad topology is really important to what you're doing I'll link to a detailed tutorial on all of these methods in the comments below this video
