hello guys another video from my car as every saturday and today i want to talk about myself briefly so i have three conclusions that i've made while analyzing my 2021 results and i hope it may be useful for you as well if you are planning to become a content creator or entrepreneur in the development so i have three things that were successful in 2021 and the lessons that i've learned from them so lesson number one is for my courses to move to yearly subscriptions i've done that in january in 2021 and it felt pretty risky at the time so the price for my courses at the time it was like 10 courses or so it was 29 per course and i thought maybe people would not pay the yearly subscription which i priced at 99 per month but actually it became a discount for them because 29 dollars multiplied by courses so the price is bigger and if you subscribe for a yearly membership you get all current courses and then future courses for a year ahead for 99 and apparently it became a really good deal for a lot of people so a lot of people subscribed to that and basically i moved my pricing to subscriptions first and i started advertising the subscriptions first instead of just courses one by one you can still purchase courses one by one but the price that i advertise is 99 and it became kind of a clear message for me all over 2021 and this is where my revenue not exactly skyrocketed but it was like 2x or 3x not only because of the pricing because i've put out much more content in 2021 it was like 12 courses or 11 courses in a year and i've put a lot of marketing effort into that but the pricing was really really important so if you think to sell your content product try to think about a model like lara cast like myself like other course platforms and try to go for subscriptions with the promise that you will constantly deliver more content and speaking about constant delivery this is lesson number two for me in january of 2021 i made a promise to go daily on youtube and kind of be in line with the channel name laravel daily and my historic blog name laravel daily it actually became daily with daily videos since january 2021 for the full year and this is where my growth kind of skyrocketed with youtube channel and everything around twitter youtube newsletter i started to be like household name of laravel things laravel tips laravel daily news coverage and stuff like that and the lesson here for you guys is consistency if you are consistent putting out the content or putting out new features if you are a developer it doesn't necessarily have to be daily but you have to be consistently on the mind of people and this is what happened to me so more and more i saw messages about people recognizing me as populist or laravel daily as like number one source of daily videos about tips and stuff like that and of course it helped me on youtube platform itself so i got to 80 000 subscribers and closer to my 100k goal with silver play youtube button and my lesson number three from 2021 i started to invest much more time in my personal twitter account discussing with people and replying to people and retweeting to people i started using especially late in the year in like november or october i started using more my own platform that i created called lara tweets i will link that in the description below where i just get all the tweets mentioning laravel via twitter api and just read them daily it's not that much it's like a few hundred tweets if you filter out like spam or something so i read them i retweet something useful of course i gather the material for my newsletter youtube video ideas and it all comes together at the end so i'm part of the ecosystem creating the content then retweeting other people's content replying to them and actively participating as populous in twitter community so that helped me to grow to twitter like 17 or 18 000 followers at the moment so the key lesson here is be a personal contributor to other people's work so to recap lesson number one for me was pricing and revenue model lesson number two was consistency and lesson number three is personal engagement with people in your community all of that helped me in 2021 to power my growth as a content creator both in revenue and follower count and ecosystem and i hope to continue that in 2022 with putting out more content here on youtube on twitter and elsewhere if you have any suggestions what can i improve in my work in general shoot in the comments and see you guys in other videos
