[Music] hey guys today I'm gonna be showing you a couple different unicorn themed DIYs why well because I like unicorns and I like DIYs this is very logical we have quite a bit to go through today so I'm not gonna make this intro take forever let's just get on into the DIYs the first DIY I'm gonna show you is this unicorn jewelry holder starting with some polymer clay in these lovely spring colors know the color isn't gonna really matter for this anyway then I'm gonna use a silicone popsicle mold they do have actual unicorn horn molds this is just me working with what I've got so I'm gonna pop open my clay and polymer clay is really firm so you kind of have to massage it and you know what this really reminds me of something I just I can't put my finger on it and then I'm gonna start sticking the clay down into the mold piece by piece really packing it in there tightly so that all the little details come out and once I had completely fill the mold I'm gonna put this in the freezer I left mine in there for a couple hours but I don't think you need to do it for that long just until the clay is hard so that you can easily peel away the mold now the problem with this popsicle mold is that it makes something that looks like a popsicle products these days man I am gonna try to fix this up a little bit so I'm gonna use my finger to smooth away any cracks that are on the surface of the clay then I'm gonna try to get this a little bit more unicorny by using a dotting tool to kind of exaggerate those little grooves a little bit more then I'm gonna push together the top to form it into more of a point and there we go our camouflage unicorn horn is ready to go in the oven once that's baked and cooled don't forget cooled I'm gonna take some gesso which is like a primer or a base coat for the paint it did help out a lot since I used a dark colored clay and now is where this finally gets a little less hideous I'm gonna use some gold acrylic paint on here I did have to put on like five coats of this in order to build up the color but luckily it dries pretty so it wasn't too bad I survived it while that final coat is drying I'm gonna move on to the other piece of this I'll be using this box that I got from the Dollar Tree only the top though so you can leave this is made of a pretty sturdy cardboard so it should do the trick so again I'm gonna be priming this with gesso because we are going to paint this with some acrylic paint and my first idea for the paint job got really messy and ugly I hated it so I decided to whip up a new batch of paint and start over oh and that really weird pink color next to the normal pink color yeah that's another one of my failures let's try not to screw this one up Here I am just sketching out my idea I simplified the design a lot to make it less of a hot mess I'm painting on the rainbow colors and guys I actually have a legitimate reason to do rainbow I often do some sort of rainbow anyway because I'm kind of obsessed if you're new here it's a thing you'll get used to it but rainbow is definitely like associated with unicorns anyway and we can't forget the sides got to take care of them two and three coats of paint later here it is but I think it's missing something there we go I added some outlines and that metallic gold paint so that I could kind of tie this piece together with the horn you know and that way they could live in a more cohesive visual harmony uh once that's done I'm gonna coat this in Mod Podge this sponge brush has seen better days and this is really just for practicality you know it will keep the paint from chipping off and it'll just make it more durable and now we have our two pieces complete so I'm gonna use some e6000 which is just a really strong glue put it on the bottom of the horn and stick it on completely crooked and then have to move it and scrape off the excess glue don't forget that step it's very important and here it is I'm pretty happy with it I think it looks really cool one thing I was trying to keep in mind is that I want this to look good with jewelry on it so I didn't want anything to be too complicated or too busy looking and I think I achieved that goal it looks really nice with jewelry on it okay next I'm gonna be making this custom unicorn pouch so starting with my trusty fabric paint stay and I'm actually gonna be using the leftover paint from my squishy makeover video source fulness and I'm gonna use this little pouch that I got for like a dollar on Amazon me laughing at farting jokes when am I gonna grow up I'm gonna sketch out my design first pencil doesn't erase too well on fabric so you gotta get it right the first time and I'm gonna draw some flowers along the top now I'm painting those in this is pretty basic stuff you know just painting on a pouch I'm leaving the Centers of the flowers alone for now because I have an evil plan for those later and I was having difficulty staying in the frame while I was doing this yeah I thought I was in the frame right here anyway I'm just painting along having a good old time and now that those flowers are under control I'm gonna use some black paint to paint on the eyes with a dotting tool and you know everyone always uses dotting tools but it's essentially a reusable toothpick or bobby pin it doesn't do anything special or magical so don't worry if you don't have one and then I'm gonna finish off those flowers by outlining them I thought that black would be a little bit too harsh for this so I just used a darker version of whatever color you know what I mean once your paint is all dry it's time to add some magic that was my best magical sound effect I'm adding a rhinestone to the middle of each flower and that will give them a nice little shine and just like that it's done I think this turned out really cute and it was super simple and easy to do if you're the type of person that doesn't really like making things from scratch you just like to decorate there you go and look at that it functions exactly like any regular bag would Wow [Music] okay and next is a unicorn storage container hold on tight this one's gonna take a minute it all started with a paper clip so I'm gonna attempt to straighten this paperclip out which kind of hurts not gonna lie how it doesn't need to be perfect just good enough so now I'm gonna grab some model magic clay I use polymer clay for the last one so this is for those of you who don't like polymer clay or who don't want to have to bake the clay grab a hunk form it into a very rough cylinder and then start rolling it out pretty thinly on one end and then work your way to the other end and let it get progressively thicker oh my gosh the sped up version of this looks so crazy I think I'm gonna hurl make it stop once you're done you should have this a long tapered snake one thin end one thick end now stick a paper clip carefully parallel into the thin end of the clay and gently start wrapping the snake around the paper clip take your time to work the clay around but also hurry up because this stuff does start drying and getting harder and harder to work with once you get down to the end pinch off the excess and try to blend that back in kind of impossible because this stuff doesn't really like to blend ok so now that you got your oh my gosh it looks like a unicorn stick of dynamite take a mason jar or whatever jar you're going to be using and this is somewhat optional but it really helped me a lot so I took the top marked the center with a nail and then off-camera because I'm too clumsy to do this while filming I used a hammer to hammer the screwdriver through the top that's definitely not how you're supposed to do things but whatever I made it work now I can stick the wire through the hole so that I can try the horn onto the top and make sure that it fits make sure I adjust anything that needs adjusting while the clay is still wet and you can leave it to dry because this stuff takes about 72 hours to dry what yes 72 hours to dry so while we're waiting let's get to work on the jar I'm gonna be painting this with some white acrylic paint I initially was kind of bummed because I didn't have any jars without all the designs because I thought a plain jar would look better but I made the best of it and it worked out pretty well and this took about four coats of paint to completely cover everything I don't know why I felt the need to include that clip but you're welcome I'm gonna take some Mod Podge and some extra fine glitter I almost always pour way too much glitter it's it's not shocking woah mix those up and then paint that onto the jar so this is the kind of two birds with one stone kind of situation because I'm protecting the paint with the Mod Podge and decorating the jar with the glitter at the same time you see and yeah so now let's abandon this guy and start working on another step there are many ways to make fake flowers this is just one way that I've come up with I'm using a silicone flower mold and a hot glue gun which is already spewing out glue and I'm just filling up the mold with the hot glue make sure to get down into the mold and reach all the little details let it dry for a sec and then pop those out of the mold I was half expecting this to fail because I wasn't sure if the glue was gonna be able to pick up all those little tiny details but it actually turned out really well except for the really tiny one that one was just useless and here they are and yes I do have nasty green and brown clay still under my fingernails I think it looks good like that and repeat this as much as you feel the need to until you have all the flowers your heart desires now I'm gonna use some nail polish to paint these and I'm just gonna paint the center's to start I'm using four different colors in total once the centers have dried and then I'm going to turn them over and paint the sides and the bottoms and yes I was dying from the nail polish fumes after a while thank you for your concern remember this guy well now that we've taken care of everything else it only needs 70 hours to dry so I'm gonna wait okay it's finally dry and let's get him caught up with the others by adding some silver metallic paint I'm not even sure if you're technically supposed to paint on this clay I read online that you're only supposed to use markers but you know it didn't melt or blow up or turn into a monkey so I think it's fine and then I added glittery modpodge to this as well now that the clay is nice and solid we can cut off the excess wire if you try to do that when the clay is still really soft you risk smashing the shape or pushing the wire through the top so I would I would probably just wait okay we have gathered here together today do you lid take you horn okay this is going way too far I'm gonna hot glue the horn on to the lid and then turn it over and cover the hole and the exposed bit of wire with hot glue as well I'm gonna put the top on and gather up all my flowers I'm a flower girl okay I'm done I'm done now and start gluing those flowers onto the lid however they fit however you like them and now for the final final touch I took some silver ribbon tied a little bow and hot glued that to the front of the jar I think this turned out so cool and so unique looking I really love it in this video I showed two different methods and two different materials for making a horn so you can mix and match and combine materials and methods however you want I just did that to give you guys options anyway I love how this turned out I love the colors and I love how silvery and sparkly it is and this is me trying to find things to put into it yeah I just started shoving the most random stuff ever inside I really don't know why I really really love the way this group of DIYs turned out I think they turned out so good and if you end up making any of these please email me a picture and I will be sure to give you a shout out in a future video but yeah next week will be a squishy week so get ready for that I will see you guys on Monday bye [Music]
