travel trailers under 5 000 pounds are perfect for mid-size suvs and so much more this travel trailer actually goes by two different manufacturers names it's known as the braxton creek free solo fam model which is sold at rv1 dealerships or it's also known as the bushwacker plus model number 17b h comes in at an unloaded vehicle weight of 2520 it's got a gross vehicle weight rating of 33.20 for a cargo carry capacity of 800 pounds it measures in at 18 feet long and it sleeps four when you first walk into this small travel trailer on the right hand side the first thing you'll notice are the bunk beds straight ahead you'll notice is where the kitchen is located and all the way at the front of the trailer is where the dinette is and on that side is a wet bathroom here i am standing at the bunk beds and there's a couple really cool features about these bunks and a couple not so cool features that we want to point out as well first of all the top bunk and the bottom bunk are really a very good size they're both 42 inches wide and they are 78 inches long so they're really good sized bunks a child or an adult could sleep in these bunks very very comfortably there's also a ladder here that's built in so it's not removable i think that's a good thing because you don't have to worry about where to store your ladder but it's also a bad thing because it inhibits your ability to get to items under here and the reason it's a problem is because this lower bunk can also lift up and out of the way and then you can use this whole area as storage but now it's hard to get to because this built-in ladder is in the way so i wish it was removable but on the other hand you don't have to worry about where to store it where do you weigh in on this issue let us know in the comments down below so here i am at the doorway walking into this camper and one other thing to really point out is susan's only five foot one and she's already banged her head a couple times on the top of this door i'm standing outside on the step and i would have to really scoot down a lot to get under that door so just something to be aware of when you're looking at some of these smaller travel trailers that are out there so here we are at the kitchen area just next to the bunks you'll notice that you have a microwave oven up top and a wall mounted air conditioning unit now the good thing about a wall mounted ac unit is it's cheaper so the cost of the trailer will be lower and if you ever had to replace it it's very easy to pull this out and replace it at a very low cost now down below we have a single bowl sink this sort of looks like a bathroom faucet set up to me i don't like the separate hot and cold i'd much rather have them all in one handle but you've got your faucet here with a little gooseneck over top this really doesn't even swivel so um not a great setup as far as i'm concerned you do have a two burner stove here and i would like to see the two burner stove turned sideways so the burners are one in front and one in the back and that would create just a little bit more countertop space in here that you could use when you're preparing your meals but the way it's set up countertop space that's usable is behind the cooktop and that's really not a great place to have usable countertop space now down below you do have a couple of doors that open for some extra storage there are no drawers in here so for utility or kitchen utensils and things you'll have to have some boxes of you know maybe clear plastic totes or things where you keep all those types of items so they don't go flying everywhere now right next to the cooktop is where your refrigerator is located now ideally you would like this door to open and swing so that you can access it from the kitchen area but it's set up with the door the other way just so you know you can always reverse the swing on these refrigerators it's not that hard to do just look it up in a youtube video and they'll show you how to reverse the door on this particular style refrigerator but it's a small compact fridge with a separate ice maker which is great for a travel trailer this size which is really meant for just weekend getaways and that sort of style of camping as we move past the refrigerator we have a u-shaped dinette which also serves as you know the owner's bedroom back here so you're gonna end up with about a short queen size bed in this area about 60 inches wide by 76 inches long you'll also notice over top of my head you've got a little bit of storage up here on the shelf now one thing i want to point out about this dinette table and this is true for a lot of trailers that we've reviewed there are no cup holders built into this table and i know when susan and i are camping we always like to have cup holders because the table's a small size it's a limited amount of space it's really easy to knock over your drink if you buy a camper with this style table you can always buy a hole saw and drill a hole and you can buy little plastic cup holders right online at amazon and drop them right into place and boom now you've got drink holders on your dinette table so here i am inside the shower here and it's got a really nice retractable shower door which is fantastic it's much better than having a curtain which would blow in and out of you now this is a wet bath and for those of you that don't know a wet bath just means that your toilet is inside of the shower area so you would use this both as your shower and your toilet area the advantage of it is it saves a lot of space inside the trailer and since this trailer is under 20 feet we need to use all the space we possibly can the downside is every time you take a shower you have to come in and sort of wipe out the bathroom to dry it up because if you want to use the toilet later in the day if if it's all wet in here you know you end up tracking water in and out of the shower and into your camper so we've camped in a camper one time that had a wet bath and again it's it's advantages and disadvantages for us it was inconvenient but for folks that are looking for a smaller camper and trying to maximize the space you know wet bath is definitely the way to go and has its advantages now height wise in here as you guys know i'm 511 and i have to crouch down in here i mean i i think that we probably have a total of you know five feet eight inches in here and that's about it but for a smaller shower it's certainly adequate and will do the job one other really cool feature about the dinette is underneath the back dinette booth you have this pass through storage area this travel trailer is the travel light rove model number 14 fl it has an unloaded vehicle weight of 1707 pounds a gross vehicle weight rating of 2500 pounds and that leaves the cargo carry capacity at 725 pounds it measures in at 16 feet six inches long and it sleeps up to three people when you first walk into this travel trailer off to the right hand side you have a nice comfy couch which doubles as a bed wraps around into the kitchen and dinette area and it has a full wet bath in the back so here i am at the front end of this camper where the comfy couch is and this couch is really big i mean one person could probably sleep on this thing pretty easily but the cushions are nice and thick and comfy and to convert it into a bed it's really pretty easy there's a couple of d-rings on each side that you just pop and then you pull it forward and then you just adjust the cushion in the back and there you go now this bed uh measures in at 48 inches wide and it is whoa 74 inches long so it's a pretty tight fit i mean two people could sleep on here but you know you'd be bumping into each other all night long which might not be a real bad thing you'll also notice that there's a window on each side so you can get a little cross breeze couple lights overhead we turned them off so we didn't blind the camera and then these little brackets on each side that's what holds up the back of the couch when it's in the couch position and there are a couple of electrical receptacles and usb ports on the side of the kitchen cabinet set up so while you're laying in bed you can put your phone tablet sort of use the kitchen countertop as a nightstand recharge all your electronics overnight now the kitchen area is located right across from the comfy couch and sleeping area and there are two immediate things that i notice inside this camper and this is a really small camper but it has huge countertop space i mean look at this you just don't even get this much countertop space in a much larger trailer so they've done a terrific job of setting that up and the second thing you'll notice is it's got a fireplace in here now you can turn the heat on and off we have the heat off right now because we're down in florida so we don't need the heat but you can still enjoy the ambiance and you would enjoy that i guess when you're laying in bed at night or maybe just sitting at the dinette if you're out camping on a cool fall evening or early spring i mean what a great little feature to have built in i really like it now up top here you'll notice there is a lot of storage it's open storage but they do have these cargo nets in here to hold things in place it also has a wall mounted air conditioner in here now wall mounted air conditioners are pluses and minuses right plus side is they're very inexpensive if it breaks and you have to replace it it's easy to replace and it's very not very expensive to do so so you know looking at the bright side of it and it's big enough to cool down a small camper like this too so why go overboard with a roof mounted ac plus it keeps your camper shorter uh so you can fit under more overpasses and bridges or maybe even squeeze it in a garage depending on how tall your garage doors are standard height for a garage is seven feet this is a little taller than that but some folks do have nine or ten foot garage doors at home anyway down below the storage in the ac they've got a nice sink here and they side mounted the sink rather than have the faucet behind it the reason they did that is so they could make the countertop a little narrower in here so it gives you more space to walk around between the countertop and the dinette table very nice move then they have a one burner induction cooktop and i think a one burner is fine every now and then if susan and i are cooking we need two burners but for a weekend getaway or you know an off-road getaway one burner's usually just fine and then of course you have a mini fridge down below and it does not come fully stocked by the way but here we are at the rv show and it does have a place up top where you can make some ice cubes too now you'll notice below the fireplace right next to the refrigerator there is some open storage under here and i just love the fact that they have the cargo netting in place it just it actually it makes your rv lighter not having the additional cabinet doors and the cargo netting holds everything in so it doesn't go flying around while you're driving down the road next to that you've got a little bit of storage underneath of the kitchen sink and then next to that you've got two good sized cabinets for some additional storage so one other thing to note about this kitchen is there is no oven and there's also no microwave so if you're needing a microwave i think the easiest thing you could do maybe just be bring a small portable microwave with you there's enough countertop space here that you could set it on the counter and then there's a receptacle right over the edge of the counter plug it in there and you are good to go so just across from the kitchen is where the dinette is located now a couple of really important things about the dinette i love the dinette location in here because it's on the door side of the camper now why is that important well most rvs are on the opposite side of the camper so they all come with a nice big window over them but if your dinette isn't on the door side you're looking outside at your sewer hoses your water hose all that stuff when the dinette is on the door side your view is of your campsite you can see your picnic table your fire ring it's just a lot nicer view and you can feel like you're really camping when you're sitting at your dinette table we always like to look out the window on ours and see what's going on out there while we're sipping coffee in the morning or whatever now above you'll notice there's plenty of open storage again with all the cargo netting to hold things in place it's got a little radio with some speakers up here as well it's got an overhead light and then the dinette really comfortably can sit two people this table will also drop down so you could have a bed for one other person in here so for a couple with a small child this would probably be a really really great setup now where i'm sitting right here there's a couple controls over here you could mount a tv up in this location it comes pre-wired for satellite and cable um and i guess you know if you put it on a swing arm or maybe mounted on this wall you know you might be able to see the tv from the bed not the best location but at least they have an option for you to sit or not to sit that's the question here i am in the bathroom and i as you know i'm 5 11 i can't even stand up in here and the big debate that susan and i always have is if you're in a wet bath do you take your shower standing up or sitting down on the commode now for me i really prefer to stand up when i take a shower i just wouldn't want to sit on the commode and take a shower but some people do let us know in the comments down below what you might do in a wet bath not anything you might do in a weapon if you would stand up or sit down while taking a shower in a wet bath now the height in here really is pretty restricted but again this is a small camper and with a wet bath you really don't get a lot of room but it has everything that you need uh there's a nice shelf in here that you could use for your shampoo bottles soap all that good stuff the wand does come off the wall so you can use your sprayer however you need to and of course as typical with many wet bath designs there is a curtain that comes across so it protects the door from getting water and then water leaking out into your camper as far as the elbow test goes if the door was closed i'd have no room on this side but on my right side i actually have plenty of room for my elbow one other option for taking a shower is just to use the outside shower if you prefer this is a great setup it comes with a little wand and it also has hot and cold control so you know you don't have to take a cold shower while you're outside so and this way i could stand up as tall as i like now with these campers you can upgrade to a solar package which can fully power you when you are off grid you can get enough solar power from the roof and you can get three five thousand watt inverters so you can actually run your air conditioning your refrigerator your fireplace the whole nine yards using all solar power and these units also come with a standard trailer package or you can upgrade to the off-road package which gives you bigger tires and much more ground clearance so you can go boondocking and get off the road as far as you'd like this travel trailer is the gulfstream kingsport model number 199 rk it has an unloaded vehicle weight of three thousand five hundred and twenty pounds a gross vehicle weight rating of 4 890 pounds with a cargo carry capacity of 1370 pounds it measures in at 22 feet 2 inches long and it can sleep up to 4 people when you first walk into this rv you'll notice on the right hand side that you have the owner's bed then you've got a nice comfy living area dinette refrigerator and the kitchen is a big l-shaped kitchen in the back and the bathroom is back here as well so at the front of this trailer is where the owner's bed is located you'll notice up top there's a nice open shelf with plenty of storage up there and then there are a couple of dome lights located on the bottom of the shelf now the bed in here let's see what size the size this is i know it's 60 inches wide and 76 inches long so it is a short queen size bed but the bed does lift up and there is lots and lots of storage under there that you can also access from outside the camper just to my right there's a wardrobe closet here with a bar up top so you can hang things you can also store things in here and then just below the wardrobe closet there's sort of a little alcove so if you had a suitcase or even a little dog cage or something you could keep it right there it's a perfect spot for it there's also receptacles and usb ports on both sides of the bed and this is where your tv would be located in here which is a good spot because you'll be able to see it from the bed and also from the living area which we'll take a look at in just a second that was one second here we are in the living area and you'll notice that it's got these big gigantic storage cabinets above these are really a good size storage cabinet some of the biggest ones i've seen in these smaller campers today which is just great because you always need to store your dry goods somewhere we use little clear totes in our storage cabinet so we can see everything and things don't fly all around inside the cabinet while we're driving down the road now it also has this nice comfy couch here you could sit two or three people on here very comfortably and like i said you'll be able to see the tv location very very easily from this spot and this sofa also jackknifes out so i would say one child maybe a smaller size adult would be able to sleep on here very very comfortably so here i am at the dinette which is right across from the living area the dinette also converts into another bed you just drop the table down rearrange the cushions you could sleep another child here so it really could sleep two adults and two kids very very comfortably and just a side note when you pull up the cushions on the dinette there's also storage under both sides so you have that additional room as well now this dinette is really just set up for two people i don't see three or four people being able to sit here at all but you know most folks sit outside when they eat anyway so you know maybe that works but it does also have this really nice big dinette window which is fantastic and the nice thing about it is the dinettes on the right side of the camper what i mean by that very often we see the dinette opposite the door and so you're looking outside at your sewer hoses and everything but this dinette is on the door side of the camper so you're looking outside at your campsite with your picnic table your fire ring whatever's going on out there so i like the fact that they have the dinette on the correct side of this camper now the refrigerator is located directly across from the dinette and it's a nice big dometic fridge it's a 12 volt refrigerator which means it's a compressor style fridge so it actually stays colder than the three-way style refrigerators but it's really big i mean you have tons of freezer space in there tons of refrigerator space so for a family of four to go away for a weekend i think this will be able to handle all of your cold storage needs right next to the refrigerator we also have this pantry area which has open storage up top which i'm not a big fan of because things can fly out of there when you're rolling down the road i wish they at least had a cargo net here but they do have some drawers with some built-in shelving inside so you've got plenty of room for all your dry storage needs as well so at the very back of this camper is where the kitchen is located and this type of kitchen is an l-shaped kitchen which just means it's in an l shape now the big advantage with having an l-shaped kitchen is all the countertop space that you get so there's plenty of room here for the double bowl sink then you've got all this big counter space area and then it's just got a two burner propane stove turned sideways instead of long ways so it also helps to maximize the countertop space in here it's a really really terrific feature plus i'm wondering how many times do you really need three burners when you're cooking dinner in your camper i know for susan and i i really can't think of many times that we've needed more than two even though we do have a three burner stove let us know in the comments down below if you need three or just two burners in your uh in your camper we'd like to know now you'll also notice above you've got really big storage cabinets here as well so you can store a lot of stuff in your kitchen area this cabinet goes all the way back to the corner so plenty of storage up top and then there's also a microwave oven up here as well it's not a convection microwave it's just a plain microwave but for a camper this size i'm sure that's just fine now down below the cooktop we also have a couple of drawers that you can use to stow away your kitchen utensils and then there's also additional storage underneath of all the countertop and underneath the kitchen sink as well so here i am in the tub slash shower in here in the bathroom and the tub is a nice feature especially if you have little kids or even if you have a little dog maybe he got out and got all muddy and you need to give them a little bath you can throw them in the tub here wash them off and there you go now one thing to note when a trailer has a tub it also has a big step up and over to get into it this one happens to be 19 inches tall but once you're in here you have gosh 6 feet 5 inches of headroom which is a good amount of space in here this is a very basic shower however there's like no holders for soap or shampoo it's just very very basic and it also has a shower curtain now if you don't like the shower curtains and i can't stand them you can buy a retractable shower door online i think at rec pro uh and they have they will you know you install it right on top of your tub caulk it in place anybody can do it it's not very hard you can get rid of your curtain that way and with the retractable shower door you won't worry about it blowing in and sticking to you while you're taking a shower and they have customized sizes they do they have custom sizes we had to order one for our class c and it was not a standard size because we have a tub in our class c so the height is shorter than what the standard shower door size would be and we got it really fast how long did it take us to get it less than a month yeah oh absolutely and it was a special order so uh you know just have that in mind if you want to upgrade your shower or uh your shower situation in your bathroom now the rest of the bathroom is a really really good size we have a nice sized medicine cabinet here and then below that you've got a decent sized sink here and lots of countertop space off to the right hand side you've got some open storage below that you can keep toilet paper toilet chemicals what have you and then you even have a little bit of storage underneath the vanity sink unfortunately this bathroom is going to fail the old elbow test but there's plenty of room straight ahead so if you're in here on the commode you're not going to feel claustrophobic if you guys want to check out some more rvs that can be towed by an suv just click the box down below there's an r pod in there and also a vintage cruiser with some really cool floor plans click the box we'll see you guys in the next video a u-shaped u-shaped dinette kitchen area is located
