[Music] you've got a friend in Screen Rant because we've gone through all of Pixar's films to give you things that only adults would notice naturally there's a lot of complex hidden meanings and double triple or quadruple entendre z' among that computer animation so join Screen Rant as we drop by Andy's toy box sneak into Edna modes headquarters snow camps dive under the sea and check out everywhere in between the two Incredibles films are amazing in the way they're able to tell the story of one heroic family unit that's appealing to each of the many different family members that make up the film's audience this includes the appeal to parents with a certain borderline risque joke that is made in the first film in the climax of the film Syndrome notices that mr. incredible and Elastigirl are wearing the same uniform remarking oh no you married Elastigirl then he notices the two kids and similar disguises quipping oh god there's only one kind of busy that syndrome could be referring to this one's a bit more simple and straightforward but it brings up some dark possibilities when you actually consider it in cars you have to wonder where of all the people gone the world of cars has buildings and signs it has equipment that automobiles likely couldn't have built themselves so where did all the people go we kind of have to assume the worst here perhaps the autonomous self-driving car technology decided to take a wrong turn bring about the end of humanity and the start of the vehicular Lee inclined let that haunt your dreams we got an inside look at how SIDS mind works when the main characters of Toy Story found their way into SIDS home woody befriends SIDS creations like a baby doll with erector sets spider arms and a dull slender legs attached to a fishing pole the legs are perhaps the most controversial since the fishing line seems to be asking us to refer to this character as if it's some kind of literal hooker a similar euphemism makes an appearance in cars Wow they seem to have adopted some of the more adult entertainment one might see enough well more mature part of town on the side of a desolate road we see a sign for the top-down truck stop which advertises all convertible waitresses you think this could be some kind of automobile strip club we're pretty sure we'll have to read some fanfiction to be sure but another euphemism that is definitely what it sounds like is when lightning McQueen sees some female cars flashing him sure here he means that they're just flashing their headlights at him but come on we all know what he's actually talking about with Pixar's short film pearl the animation team decided to tackle a modern issue with humor and wit when a female ball of yarn starts working at a startup that has otherwise employed all men she experiences sexism in the workplace and puts a cartoon face on a topic than many women experience on a daily basis in the professional sphere hi there did you see they hired a balling and while the animation can certainly appeal to kids the subject matter is a great teaching tool to give people who have experienced similar treatment something to relate to while giving others the chance to understand the situation in a new light while cars and cars too are often lumped with the more kid centric offerings among six arts films lightning McQueen's crash is pretty dramatic for a children's movie in cars three lightning experiences a life-changing crash that's brutal for such a normally upbeat franchise from the trailer advertising cars three the sequence totally subverts our expectations promising a movie that's in tune with more adult themes and a level of melancholy that's more in line with the furnace scene from Toy Story 3 Finding Nemo showed us that there was more going on under the sea than a sing-along led by a Red Lobster instead this story of a lost fish and his search for home showed us a vibrant underwater world it also had an Anatomy joke that most parents will get the most kids will miss pearl the pink octopus relates to Nemo with the line it's actually shorted now my other tip is this actually a nod to a human body part you decide because we'd rather not stay on this subject actually another moment from Finding Nemo is less debatable and possibly more offensive to some audience members luckily in this film about fish the following line may float over the heads of most older kids adults teens and preteens will probably understand this one though when the fish inside the tank decide to bust out part of their strategy involves breaking the filter this results in their waste returning back into their part of the tank clouding the water with their sewage gurgle puts it less eloquently saying don't you people realize we are swimming in our own here we come gurgle who clearly doesn't like anything being dirty is obviously the most affected so he can be forgiven for cursing in front of children it's highly likely that kids in the Pixar audience haven't seen the shining here's Johnny so we can assume that all the studios references to the shining throughout their many films is purely for adults in the audience yeah Pixar movies contain several references to the classic Stephen King adaptation room 237 which figured prominently as a ghostly location in the film's Overlook Hotel is featured several times in the Toy Story franchise including some camera equipment in Toy Story 3 and toy story's villain Sid has the same type of carpet as the Overlook Hotel in his home this may be due to the fact that Pixar director Leung Kitsch also happens to run a shining fansite called the Overlook Hotel calm go ahead and visit the site but just don't book a room like Finding Nemo ratatouille is populated by cute animals with big eyes and big hearts as well as an endearing cast of human characters when linguini the hapless lead human character tells his crush Colette that he has a tiny little he's referring to the rat Remy who's been helping him out Colette could mistakenly think linguini is talking about something else especially when she glances down another moment in the film can be interpreted in multiple ways when Skinner happens upon linguini while he's secretly with Remy and a food storage area Skinner tells linguini to leave the top shelfs says one can't get too familiar with budget as you know feel free to take that quote to mean whatever your imagination will allow college is the time in a young person's life when they transition from teenagers to adults so it would make sense that more mature themes would appear in monsters University the film's director Dan Scanlon wanted to show Mike and Sully as having less fully formed goals and motivations than their older cells have in the original monsters Inc over the course of the film Mike and Sulley changed their goals and Scanlon explained that this was unique when compared to many other kids movies which adults can't relate to making changes to their ultimate life plans especially in college personally I changed my major like six times in a less thoughtful moment Toy Story 3 happens to give us a more lowbrow joke when mrs. Potato Head gets her mouth taken from her mr. Potato Head sticks up for his better half hey no one takes my wife's mouth except me this can be seen as a kind of double entendre for something more personal than you'd expect to hear in a Toy Story film but it seems pretty normal for the potato head couple love-hate relationship another kind of euphemism made an appearance in a bug's life while the film doesn't get as much love as Toy Story or many of the other notable Pixar films a bug's life still has some classic moments even a more throwaway and mature line still can garner a laugh from the older people in the room they'll most likely understand what this is referring to during the scene at PT bleed circus a couple of flies who were up to no good hoggle the ladybug one hits ladybug with the line looks like some parents are gonna have to talk to their kids about the birds and the bees and the Flies and the ladybugs just a little bit early in another memorable moment a scene from Toy Story 2 is able to get the same point across as the fly scene from a bug's life but with no lines spoken whatsoever when Jessie meets the gang in Andy's room she pulls off some crazy stunts that endear her to the other toys Buzz Lightyear can't even stammer in her presence instead his wings pop open and we can only imagine what this means and while the younger audience members might not fully understand what activate Buzz Lightyear's extendable wings the older viewers know exactly what that's supposed to symbolize the same studio pulled out all the stops with goofy insect theme wordplay in a bug flood as flick enters the city and meets some more exotic bugs in his new surroundings he comes across a mosquito who enjoys a Bloody Mary it's literally the lifeblood belonging to a lady named Mary in another moment of suggestive dialogue we see the inside outcasts giving the audience a sneak peek at their view of San Francisco disgust takes the time to assure fear that they won't encounter any bears while the bear may be on the state flag of California that's when anger shines in to say I saw a real hairy guy he looked like a bear as the Pixar team was based in California all these years they can attest to the fact that San Francisco does actually have a lot of bears at least they have a lot of hairy guys who would probably very happily go by that name while we're on the subject of inside-out the film does a good job of portraying all the emotions that drive our daily decisions and our feelings color our everyday lives and for adults with a more perceptive eye and ear they can see inside out for the progressive and clever story that it truly is or you see inside out it's really a story about depression doctors like Judith F Joseph have praised the movie for its accurate portrayal of the types of emotional struggles you might see in the lives of depressed preteens and while we've gotten thoughtful in the last entry let's get a bit simpler with this one maybe you don't remember the good dinosaur it is one of the lesser-known Pixar films after all but it does contain a decent and suggestive joke that keeps a kid's movie about a lonely dinosaur a bit breezier and more fun one moment of note is when Arlo the dinosaur refers irate Lee to non-compliant chickens saying all right you Cluckers if more kids started using the word clockers maybe we'd hear more about the good dinosaur but perhaps not really in a positive way ratatouille is seen by some viewers as an allegory for the connection between Disney and Pixar the film was released in 2007 a year after the merger between Pixar and Disney according to theories online Remi is basically Pixar the rat is a student of a now deceased celebrity chef and Remi tries to offer new takes on the famed chefs celebrated dishes the restaurant that was once run by the chef is just a shadow of what it once was in this allegory Remi is Pixar and the chef is Disney a company that prior to the merger with Pixar had been struggling for several years well now that Disney owns the world basically the company seems to be doing pretty well for itself huh let's bring things back around to the Incredibles 2 where director Brad Bird and his creative team decided to get a bit edgier with their content Pixar decided to get a little topical by subtly referencing the current events of our own world in this hip superhero sequel some astute fans might have noticed how Elastigirl was given a body cam upon returning to her crime-fighting ways this seems to mirror the debate over police responsibilities and how many officers are now expected to wear body cams in the field of duty there's also timely references to immoral politicians and references to an unfair system maybe it was all a bit too real for parents wanting to enjoy a simple superhero movie you may have thought that a bug's life was simply an original story about insects defending themselves from invasive grasshoppers but no a bug's life is inspired by the classic Akira Kurosawa film the Seven Samurai a movie about seven futile Japanese warriors who defend a town from invading Marauders audience members who were a little too young to have seen the Seven Samurai might recall a later adaptation from 1960 which was remade more recently the famous Western the Magnificent Seven since we still seem to have your undivided attention let's just get on the record and say that all of Toy Story 4 or at least the entire message of the film is just one big nudge to parents about their relationships with their children sure the entire Toy Story series at large is about moving on whether it be time with your kids or your friends or your toys because it's not going to last forever so when woody convinces forky to embrace being a toy parents probably related to the sentiment you watch them grow up and become a person and then they leave they'll do things you'll never see what's a more adult realization than that this one's a smaller moment but it's for every older member of the audience who remembers Ken's wardrobe from when he first started hanging out with Barbie in the 60s and 70s when he first meets Barbie in Toy Story 3 Ken complements Barbies leg warmers love your leg warmers fans may have also noticed that Barbies emphasis on the first syllable in Ascot was a bit suggestive in of itself in cars too if we read too deeply into a moment played for humor we might notice an unintentional connection to something that's pretty not-safe-for-work the villains in Cars 2 are the lemons make a bad poorly constructed cars the lemons then go on to throw a lemon party for themselves complete with lemon cars and actual lemon fruits for decoration this all seems like the kind of event you'd find in a movie for young kids however lemon party has taken on a new meaning in the age of the internet and is as we said pretty not-safe-for-work just don't google it we promise you won't like it and for our 25th entry we're going to dive into a deleted scene from the first Incredibles when syndrome shows up to do damage to the Incredibles directly carrie McKean the babysitter answers the door Syndrome offers to take over for her saying that the S on his suit stands first sitter in fact he tells Carrie that he almost had a beat ass put on his suit for baby sitter but decided against it after all BS could be easily misinterpreted especially since in that scene he is currently completely full of it and like all responsible adults we must move on to the next video in our queue but that doesn't mean we're done covering news factoids and oddities about Pixar and you can talk about them too in the comment section down below and when you're done doing that go ahead and watch the next video on screen right see you around you
