224 dollar 6.0 LQ4 pulled and built in the junkyard!

[Music] you hey everybody welcome back to the driveway engineer I'm jr. and I'm here with Brittany mrs. engineer and today we're going to pull this lq4 for her 71 olds 98 and we're also gonna make it fun and go ahead and pick some other parts in a junkyard like from this Trailblazer with a 5-3 there's a couple other parts out here so there's like some $7.99 heads out here the Trailblazer manifolds talk tighter what we're gonna do is try to build the best possible junkyard engine we can for two hundred and twenty dollars because it doesn't matter they're all engine complete right so I'm about to go live here I'm gonna take this I'm gonna take the whole harness and fuse block I'm gonna show you guys how to use that I'm going to set this aside I'm gonna take this 4:11 PCM we're gonna do that with LS droid basically we're going to take everything from the junkyard I am going to ultimately run an Ali Baba harness on it but that'll be for later I'll show you guys try to show you guys exactly what to take what to leave and get through this all and get it done so I'll come back when I have I always pull the front clip that's just the way I do it it's like 40 minutes of work to make it way easier so I'll be back when I have this front clip pulled or I'll be live and you can see that so Britney went to get me some half inch extensions so I can get those mounts off and pick up this engine and pull it out you can pull the whole harness without touching anything just like this but on an old truck there's always something fun and this runs up into the cab and I don't know if this was like somebody's kill switch or a buy here pay here switch I don't know there's always something on the truck this old like this so but uh yeah you can totally get these out without cutting anything normally I'm gonna do that which is why you don't use those things they're not terribly sturdy so this is ready to come out as soon as I get those mount bolts down there those three right there unhooked which I can do if I had a longer extension so Britney's going to pull one for grab one for me and when we come back we'll have some seat belts on this thing and be lifting it out all right so it's probably been like another hour I'm ready to go I went ahead and took the manifolds off because the y-pipe still on them and I didn't want to fight with that a lot of thing that comes off a lot of times is uh how do you hook it up you know how do you pull it out what do you hooked you I just used a couple manifold bolts and cut a seat belt out this is ready to come out right now it's up for whatever 53 things I forgot to unhook so I'm gonna go ahead and lift it up and rittany a film so you guys can watch and we'll see what falls off it all right here we go [Music] hey baby stop I thought cutting it would be fine but it's not it's ripping right through the thing so we need to tie it all right [Music] that guy's holding your attacks back here I only cut long line not my distant we cut the harness when they took the tree yeah I think so I'll stick a purge canister this truck that's hydraboost we'll see I have no idea this might be 45 I don't know which way to polar I would [Music] nothing but the best oh yeah hello will rock in there well carbon little-little nothing wrong with this thing well outstanding condition so from the other side I don't know if these are all I don't think these are all loose enough just like he figured it out huh it's like you got what you came for yeah it's like a stretched-out part about it you know but you can see one handle must go bad on home yeah probably a $10 part they are I think they're like oh yeah you buy them on Amazon for 10 bucks to minor on the Cherokee for a complete door no matter what you get you get those complete one again all right yeah exactly cool hey there's nothing in here that didn't get in here right now look that's not rusted that's friend today mm-hmm this is all great great oh let's go get your new heads all right so I like to be honest this is not reality TV I don't want to be dishonest with you guys I think that what I'm gonna do because my Milwaukee's dead and I don't have a way to charge it it's already 1:30 in the afternoon to go pull another set of heads you know with all hand tools would be serious labor and I probably would not be done in the next three hours I would be very close I haven't eaten my wife has to go sleep she's gotta go to work so I'm gonna take this complete with the three-one-seven I'm gonna put it back together I'm gonna find a complete set of coils for it so that I do have an engine complete when I leave here what I'm gonna put it back together with the three one sevens and I'll come back at a later date for the eight six twos which would probably be Saturday and see if I can swap them out see if the manager is cool with that so I said guys I don't want to be dishonest with you guys or you know do the reality TV thing I'm gonna put this thing back together as is and go speak with the manager so next time you see it it'll be in the back of the truck or it'll be all together sitting here in this cart but it's still the same idea right we took it apart we looked inside we're gonna jam it back together take it home clean it up do it for real and run it so see you guys in a few I'm gonna go ahead and wrap this up real quick here this is my engine complete fresh built from the junkyard I even got the right flywheel because it was a 4 L 80 and I'm gonna run a 4 LED I went ahead and grabbed two more coil packs that was missing these two rear I grabbed him off another truck I got in the cover I got the intake the air intake the ECU's right there I got the air compressor even though it has this giant manifold on it that probably won't work in Brittany's card but I got the air compressor so she can have AC this one's gonna be drive by cable with tuner Pro it's pretty important to get the right well I guess it's really not I was going to say it's important to get the right PCM to begin with but it's not because you can just clone anything you want with Ellis droid so but I do have the right PCM for a 4l eighty so I don't have to segment swap because you can't send my Swapna tuner probe but you can overwrite with LS droid so anyway you see the one little bit of nastiness this back cylinder number eight it's pretty pretty Carbon dot probably from where that bolt broke and it was just leaking and sucking air all that time but I'm putting I'm home we'll clean it up copper spray gaskets clean all the bolt holes out run it back down and take it down and see what it mate so I'm going to stop by the local dyno shop today and see what they'll charge me I throw this on the engine dyno and run it see if they laughed me out
