212 PREDATOR POPS AND WONT START DIAGNOSIS

[Music] Hayes was here start a new segment today he's going to call quick tips there's my kini well let's say you've got a prisoner and you pull on it like this pops like that start it pops out the exhaust what what is that well there's a couple of things it could be so I'm gonna check and see if the flywheel key is sheared and then if that's not it we're gonna check under the valve cover and see if it's way out of lash like there's a lot of slop in the valves I think that's what it is so what first we'll do this so see in a minute okay now I took the cover off a couple eight millimeter screws and so now he's take a screwdriver a crowbar small crowbar kind of pry it between their flywheel pops off and then now you check and see if your keyway is intact yeah it's fine can you see that it's not if it was gone this would be like sheared in half and be kind of you'd see real right away where it was so that's not it okay put the cup back on and yeah it helps having an impact it can be done without an impact but do you have anything special I have a Dewalt impact drill you know works great this was a real good shape cut cut okay so these are 8 millimeter just take these off and be careful because they like to fall all down and the tins on the floor grass okay yeah it's okay I'm gonna be able to reuse it which is good you know oh yeah this one let's get it turn over - they're both relaxed oh wow yeah see that that is really sloppy now this is a what we call it the non Hemi it's an older motor you know that's probably what you're working on you got some older motor and it's been running for a while great but now they don't start that's the exhaust valve it's super loose and the intake is 50 lose so what'd you do take some feeler gauges you know they don't have to be as old and rusty as mine I can't even see the numbers on these things anymore okay clear this there it is for thousands what you won't do there's too - nuts since oh yeah like I was saying the hammy has lash caps for this engine doesn't so there's these two set nuts remember we'll get some wrenches we're gonna loosen those up we'll set these at four thousandths and then we'll see that fixed our problem okay I got them adjusted just in there yeah a little bit of drag little busier I'm not gonna show you how to do that this is would be a quick tip if I did that so let's put it back together and see if it starts all right guys valve covers back on see also I'll clean the spark plug off-camera make sure that's clean still pop it let's clean carburetor you see that makes a difference well let's just take the bowl off I'll pour it into this and we'll see let's see uh oh no there's any water in it or anything like that thanks it looks really good we seem to take a look I don't see any water in there so I want to take this apart clean it first thing out before I do that I'm going to show you a thing a lot of people forget we're gonna clean enough predator car where you take this little Idol screw out and this little plastic thing you pop it out nice and ginger with a flathead screwdriver this is your idol circuit it's pretty clean but all it takes is one little Fleck of stuff and a main jet to make a carburetor not run Thank You Katie so I'm gonna clean this thing out no need to see that so I'll be right back okay here's a Molson tube clean i cleaned underneath the fuel cutoff reinstalled the idle jet thingy and now i'm just gonna put it back together and we'll go from there it's all back together guys I think that there's something up with the cam so I'm gonna take this off and pull the side cover off and see if we can figure out what's happening okay guys I got the side cover off just take the cam out and see if the decompression mechanism is broken lifters I think seems to be fine cam bulbs are theirs I thought first we can spring to be broken or something to be in there hmm okay it's all back together you know that compression release may even stuck or something in the mean is something there I didn't see so it is moving freely now [Applause] you see the single start [Applause] all right so we did it had it been one of those three things the valve lash the you know I checked the flywheel make sure it's in time I clean the carburetor and I may have unstuck the cam the cam congressional release are stuck so if your engines popping when you try to start it give us a try tell me what you think all right you guys I'll see you in the next one well I could subscribe take her easy [Applause] [Applause] [Music]
