This chest of drawers sat in a chicken coop for 21 years Let's see if this turns out to be an amazing restoration as well First step is to remove all loose dirt All brass parts and locks will be dismantled Totally wrecked A hacksaw blade is great for getting between drawers Body and bottom In this drawer has melted a bit and has to be cut first Old chicken droppings I remove the melted plastic parts with a hot air gun Better put on a mask with a gas filter So that my sanding grid doesn't get clogged, I sand the Hans first. 40 grit Here oil has penetrated the wood These areas are milled out Thin joints can be scratched out with instruments from a dental set (dental care set) Loose areas are glued back through years of opening and closing the drawer is badly damaged The wood is cut in and out with strips Hardwood re-covered Two floors were so badly damaged that I replaced them The new panels were planed to the size of the old ones Joining and re-gluing There was no other way. My thickness planer is too narrow Glue residue can be removed very easily with a spokeshave Next up is the chest of drawers Corpus Beautiful is different I'm slowly realizing that this is a bottomless pit The dirt is bigger than I thought and the woodworm was the size of a regiment in the wood I love scrapers. Simple and super flexible You can use it to get into almost all places You can get into narrow places like this with a multicutter This Dremel is also one of my favorite tools. You can do almost anything with it. Unfortunately, the dust generated when sanding is very strong . Better to turn on an air filter . The decorative strips were almost all destroyed. I removed them. The runners are all ground in. They have to be milled out and glued on again. The back wall is no longer in the groove and the glued joints are all open . They were so strong that I didn't get the side parts off. I had to mill the wood full of oil. This will be renewed For all others, the guide wood is removed and the strips milled out The rear wall was cleanly separated and the loss replaced with new wood What a pity!!! Here I put a new piece in . Wormholes over wormholes are closed with wood putty. Mix sanding dust with glue This decoration is destroyed. You can save the snail For the first time........acceptable For the next time a band saw and a carving knife would help a lot Those were the feet of the chest of drawers The wood hasn't gotten any nicer. I will cover it with veneer. The old holes will be closed with wooden dowels . There are helpers for a small emergency. Superglue Since the wood was so dirty, I stained it dark. Do you know how to get such dirty wood clean again? Then write it to me in the comments . You can easily get the fittings back with a special polish to make them shine . The lower ones are original. The others were bought to make it consistent again I'll add a keyhole bushing The surface will be waxed Yes.....I know. That's not how you do it. The locks are just made pretty. Otherwise they have no function As I said before, the surface is treated with beeswax I hope you enjoyed the video Thanks for watching
