forign foree for hey friends welcome back to the war room as axis lines retracted in 1944 Estonia mobilized some 60,000 men underarms to make a defiant stand for its independence today I bring you an impression of estonia's most famous fighting force in this period the 20th SS Grenadier division first Estonian [Music] by the launch of operation Barbarosa in June 1941 Estonia had been under Soviet occupation for just under a year the Soviet Union had invaded Lithuania lvia and Estonia in mid1 1940 and rapidly overran the Baltic states Estonian partisans known as the forest Brothers took to the woods waging Guerilla Warfare against the Soviet occupation others joined the expanding conflict by forming Estonian volunteer battalions in The Finnish Army to participate in the winter war with the German invasion the new Soviet government carried out Mass deportations resulting in the loss of approximately 60,000 Estonian citizens Soviet paramilitary destruction battalions conducted punitive operations including looting and killings based on the scorched Earth tactics ordered by Joseph Stalin unsurprisingly most estonians greeted the Germans as liberators forming 26 auxiliary police battalions that became the backbone of the German occupation in the north rear area by 1944 the Red Army had pushed into Estonia Germany Consolidated its best Estonian SS and police units into the 20th SS Grenadier division estonians were declared Aryan and general conscription was announced in a bid to attract Western sympathies for post-war Independence estonia's pre-war politicians called to arm as many estonians as possible this effort Drew 32,000 additional volunteers and bolstered various German Estonian units before we dive into the figure Please Subscribe and let me know what other Impressions you'd like to see I'll respond to every suggestion and let you know what I have in my Arsenal to make it happen arger Don the iconic collar tab of the 20th SS accompanied by the waffin SS sleeve Eagle ranked Chevron and estonia's National Shield he wears the SS enlisted M40 field cap and a brown undershirt popular within the division notably he is armed with a Soviet svt40 self-loading rifle the entire waffin SS was particularly fond of using captured Soviet automatic weapons and the 20th SS was even depicted in media as favoring Soviet weapons over the standard issue k98 as part of their replacement induction his equipment includes a cloth bread bag canteen bayonet magazine pouches and leather stripper clip pouches to further personalize this impression an entrenchment tool is tucked into his belt and a journal is also tucked beneath his tunic his helmet covered in SSP do camo and held down with a leather band is clipped to his y strap and of course thanks to my gorilla superglue which does way too much damage a cigarette is clipped behind this Impressions ear as a last beautiful Touch of personalization thank you so much guys for indulging with me on another video I've got a couple of parts coming in for my upcoming two figure impression from Company of Heroes 2 until then I'll see you in the next one [Music]
