204 Ruger 100 YARD GROUPS - 32gr vs 40 gr | VERY IMPRESSED

[Music] hey everybody how you doing this is about to be a really fun video probably just like the title says i am shooting my 204 ruger for this video and let me show you the rifle real quick i've been looking for a 204 ruger for a long time this is the only one that i've seen for sale in quite a long time i actually found it at buds but this is my ruger american it's got the threaded barrel uh thing i like about them is they come with a picatinny rail on top you can slap on top whatever you want real easy and yeah nikon prostaff p5 scope pretty good scope and what i wanted to test out i just sighted this rifle in at 100 yards a couple things i want to see so which one is which so i've got two different types of ammo i actually sighted this rifle in with the 32 grain at 100 yards but what i wanted to do was shoot a 100 yard group with the 32 grain and then the 40 grain and see which loading that this rifle likes best i got to keep them separate before i mix them up you guys that shoot as much as i do know that you know one rifle may really like one ammo and bullet weight and the next one might like a different one so for mine i want to know which bullet weight uh my rifle likes the best we're gonna be shooting this one quite a bit probably after some coyotes and whatnot um but either which way um you might be asking the question yourself if you have a 204 which one shoots best uh we've already filmed some chronograph videos and got some speeds pretty pretty booking approaching four thousand feet per second with this rifle uh and barrel length but i'm gonna go back to 100 yards it's probably going to be a quick video shoot the 32 grain and then the 40 grain and just see which groups better man i'm kind of in the shadow and then i'm not in the shadow but uh let me show you real quick you wouldn't be able to tell the difference just by looking at them so here's a 32 grain and here's a 40 grinder but comment down below what you think is going to do a better group um and we're going to shoot this at longer range too so really we need to know what groups better so we're not burning ammo up when we're trying to shoot this rifle four or 500 yards maybe even further but i'm gonna go ahead and take a guess my rifle's gonna like the 40 grain better i have not tried it yet except to shoot it over a chronograph but let's take it back to 100 yards i got my paper plates ready over here or uh actually i think they blew off the table so i'm going to have to go find the paper plates and see which one works best 40 grain versus 32 grain 204 ruger out of my ruger american let's go back see what happens i'm going to shoot the 32 grain first then the 40 grain and we'll see some live action of which ammo my rifle likes the best at 100 yards check it out all right so back here at 100 yards got our paper plates set up down there i've loaded three of each in the mag here of the 40 grain and the 32 grainer now let me uh get this rest on the target here and then we'll fling three of each and see which bullet weight that this rifle likes the best i'm pulling for the heavier ones but we're about to find out so all the zooms on this is 16 zoomies all right let's see what happens here three shots first of the 32 grainers [Applause] that one hit a little bit left those pink circles are a penny i traced down there pretty near hit the same hole i think on that one it'll be hard to beat that [Applause] tell you what let's shoot another one just so nobody can say that that first shot um was a little bit off because the barrel was cold let's go ahead and shoot another one so that we can see the group was from a warm barrel all right so here's another 32 grain shot here that second and the third one pretty near did hit the same hole and yeah i think those last three went in the same hole so i don't know if we can beat that with the 40 grainers but we're going to try right here let me go down to that bottom plate still hitting center that's a little surprising i wouldn't think that the flight path would be so similar is the 32s shoot two more looks like we're smoking it this rifle likes both of them that one hit a little bit high and i know that was a good trigger squeeze so let's run down there and check out the groups real quick between the 32 and the 40 rainer all right now walking up to our 100 yard target here remember we shot the 32 grainers first and that was our first shot the last three shots all pretty much went in the same hole cloverleaf they're all touching very impressed with that looks like we might need to do a couple little clickies to get it dead center then this is three shots of the 40 grain up here and then two pretty near in the same hole definitely more than just barely touching so really if your rifle sighted in with either one of those at least at 100 yards you could easily swap between those if you're going to stretch it out further obviously it's going to drop faster one over the other but super impressed that we could swap between the 40 grain and the 32 grain just about hit the same spot i was holding dead center for both and also that rifle shoots the 40 grain and the 32 grain both really well i'd say the edge probably has to go to the 32 grinder but man at 100 yards i don't have a whole lot of rifles that will do that regardless of the bullet weight but thanks for watching the video today guys absolutely am really really starting to love this 204 ruger i was looking for one for probably over six months finally found one second hardest problem was finding the ammo for it and let me tell you it was not cheap some of these 304 or 204 boxes that i bought i paid over three dollars and 50 cent around for this stuff but hey gotta have boo lots to playing out of the bing bang
