hey guys welcome to a secret location well somewhere in Michigan I guess you can probably pretty much figure out where we're at in Michigan and it's me in front of the camera and Andre behind the camera hey dude and we're going to about to uh do a little bit of a surprise for you because we're probably going to show you no we're definitely going to show you the most significant new Dodge in what the last 50 years Andre uh maybe even more is that overstating it now of course we've already seen this what is this Andre well this is the concept this is the concept they showed what about 18 months ago this is the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT banshi concept concept it's a long mouthful but the reason we're saying it's the most significant new Dodge in the last 50 years is because as you know Dodge has always been the brand of muscle the house of muscle Andre dare I say yes uh and now muscle is going electrified and a lot of you guys out there who are fans of muscle are also huge fans of of course the Hem V8 uh and the question that we're going to try to answer in this video is how is Dodge going to transition from a hem V8 to an electrified future and we've got the answer and come on we'll show it to you in a sec oh give him a peek Andre don't give him a peek yet pe oh no you give him enough teasing enough okay enough teasing these are production cars this is the world debut dude this is the world debut of electric muscle should we call it that yes so what are we looking at here this is so first of all there are three cars up here uh we're going to show you all of them in due time uh this car uh is in blue to chis color I love that blue it's blue um and this is the RT so this is basically the beginning of the range it's all electric it's a brand new platform this is basically a Stella large platform and and it's got dual motors o drive and this is kind of where it starts now let's kind of take a big step back because I think we need to kind of set the ground rules here all right so obviously in the past there was the charger and there was the Challenger and as you know we owned a Hellcat Challenger 700 plus horsepower of very angry Hemi Supercharged V8 but there was a problem Andre and of course the problem was that they were all rear-wheel drive which made putting power down in a supercharged Hemi V8 rather challenging now we have two new things so we'll break the news first of all the Challenger that's gone yes that name is no longer used and it's a little confusing cuz for me the shortcut was Challenger had two Ls so it had two doors and charger of course was a four-door now we're going to have twodo Chargers and four-door Chargers kind of going back to the olden days yes but more important importantly we're also going to have a dual motor setup which means all-wheel drive all the time yes and also fat tires right yeah let's look at tires yeah so let's take a look at the tires by the way um throughout this vehicle there's a new symbol the Fred Zog it's kind of a this three-pointed star that we'll talk about later but these are 20 in Goodyear tires and there's a 305 cross-section in the front and they're staggered 325 in the rear so there's a lot of meat on the ground and for all of you guys and girls who love putting power down now you can do so because now you've got all-wheel drive you don't have to worry about you know roasting those rears uh now you can put that power down also to the front which makes for quicker 0 to 60 and4 M time so has Dodge announced 0 to 60 on the RT Andre yes so this RT it'll be launching this year yes in the Summer with the stage one performance pack which means 496 horsepower and approximately according to Dodge 4.7 second 0 to 60s so this is where it all begins right dual motors like you said all Drive in a twoo yeah and I can hear you guys saying Tesla Model S plaid we'll get to that don't worry one of the best parts about this car is that it's huge and when it comes to legal representation bigger is better when you're hurt you deserve the best on your side insurance companies will often lowball clients claims Morgan and Morgan will fight to get you the money you deserve just in the past 12 months Morgan and Morgan saw verdicts of $12 million in Florida 34 times the highest insurance offer and $26 million in Philadelphia 40 times the highest insurance offer Morgan and Morgan make finding a lawyer for your injury case easy fast and free the fee is completely free unless you win submitting a claim for an injury doesn't have to be a stuffy prod process with Morgan and Morgan you can submit a claim without ever having to leave the couch eight clicks or less and you're done for more information go to for the.com tfl that is forthepeople.com tfl now back to the episode one of the coolest things we'll get to this car in a second cuz I want to show him the front but one of the coolest things of course in the design I think is this your hand I can see your hand yeah it's like a front spoiler it makes the car much more aerodynamic so by the way the production name is for the electrified version cuz there'll be more than electrified versions is the Charger Daytona and the Daytona name really comes from kind of that cone shaped slope nose right so aerodynamics of course are very important for any vehicle and they have this front r-wing here and Daytona is the name yeah so you know we are seeing this car for the first time in person just like you are and so these are initial Impressions but my initial impression is that Ralph jels who's the head designer uh for stellantis has done a really good job in channeling his inner muscle car unlike um many of the electric um fast cars this actually has wide shoulders big tires um very American dare I say very uh sedan-like design even though it's not a sedan we'll show you that in a second as well it's got some usability utility so let's let's let's go to the first surprise and that is there is actually a frunk aha look at that so I I believe they stated about 1.5 cubic feet so this is not a humongous space no not humongous um but I think a large backpack maybe a small carry-on bag or maybe some groceries you could put in there or maybe some uh like stinky kind of food that you don't want inside per meting the cabin you put it in the frunk but it does have a Frank and I always love when the engineers figure out a space to put uh stuff in the front because that to me says that they were thinking about the competition and how well uh the car is utilized look at the back really quick yeah let's look at the back we um because this car is unmistakable I think if I saw it rolling down the street you know couple blocks away I know it's a Dodge right I mean it just has that Dodge look yeah I mean this kind of a modified racetrack uh rear light uh that was first introduced by the way um I want to explain the reason why the trunk and the frunk are kind of cracked open these are pre-production models and we we want to show you what's underneath there and if we close it all the way we may not be able to do that so it's not that there's anything wrong with the car it's just this is a pre-production and we and we'll show you on the red car in a in a second yeah yeah and then the next big thing and I'm kind of trying to do this in a list way uh is there is no exhaust well there is kind of well yeah we'll get to that in a second there is an exhaust so by the way down here first of all it says Daytona I hope you you could see that and also Fred zic dude it's kind of there's an opening there we'll talk about it in a second in a second yeah after we after we show you more but let's get to the next surprise and we'll show you on the Scat Pack U and you know for a lot of you guys and girls out there who go to the drag strip you'll know what this is right this is the iconic uh be I I love that yeah I love that be and I love seeing it on on a car but and a lot of you may be thinking to yourself does this really belong on an electric car uh and that you know question will be answered probably before the end of this year because these cars are going to go on sale this summer so we shall see how you know many of you dodge can convert uh from traditional gas powered vehicles to more or less electric powered vehicles now remember I said these look like a sedan yeah but they're not and that's because I'm going to open this look at that dude the entire it's basic basically a hatch or kind of a three-o configuration right you would say the rear seats fold so you can kind of see a little bit of a sorry about the lighting a little bit of preview of what the inside is looking like so um those buckets are called kind of highback buckets and then with um the seats the rear seats folded up there's about 23 cubic feet of space which is pretty large more than any sedan um standard sedan and with the seats folded down there's a about 33 is um cubic feet of space let me let me kind of illustrate that you know if you wanted to you could easily put a bicycle in here uh without taking the wheels off that's how much space there is in there uh and every everything you know in this car feels very substantial there's nothing that that is uh you know small or un musari this car has presence it has 121 in wheelbase which is about an inch bigger than a current four-door CH uh charger so this is a large vehicle and we'll show you look at the size of those brakes how big are those brakes those are those are going to be how many inches so 16 so this is the rear wheel uh I believe it's four piston calipers in the rear SRT of course uh and the fronts these are brembos um six piston um very large brakes I mean not the largest in the industry but definitely largest for the Dodge for a Dodge car and if you're coming from this car from an electric car perspective SRC of course stands for street racing technology which has always been kind of Dodge's brand especially you know with the Fast and Furious movies so shall we go uh and show them the back seat I want to go in the back of this one before we go in the front of that one okay uh so RT yeah to see how much room there is because to my eye Andre it looks like there's a lot more room here in the back seat um than in the previous vehicle and we'll get to the doors in a second by the way what do you think of this isn't that kind of cool look at that you know so the concept had the similar thing right when I saw the concept I thought to myself they will never make it to production right and it did and they did and they have large screens up to 16 in here in the front um 12 we'll talk more about that soon oh you're actually going to I'm going to jump in the back CL in of course it's a real car people are going to sit back here you know so I'm curious about the head space yeah let's see here you know it's good Andre I mean I'm 6'2 and I have plenty of head space you can move this seat farther back so you could actually you know put four people dare I say five people in here comfortably uh let me get grab the camera yeah and let me grab the light you will notice that we have uh heated seats and two uh USB uh C ports right here um and you know more speakers not a lot of uh not a lot of light coming back here but this is a sports car with a very low here you go Andre roof line so uh as such there's actually more room back here here than you would think and this is you know production intent of course they're going to have several Interiors including cloth vinyl nice leather napple leather interiors a low bucket seat that you're seeing here uhhuh and a high bucket seat that you're seeing in the other car oh look it automatically started uh uh going forward when I uh actually uh moved the seat you know seat back forward there is um transmission shifter but there's only one speed this is not a multi-p speeded transmission of course each motor has their own reduction gear yeah um it's 11:1 uh but in our Banshee car that's coming later next year they should they said that they're going to have a two-speed transmission so flat bottom steering wheel nice and thick uh leather wrapped uh with you know nice stitching red accents uh obviously a pretty big size screen uh HVAC controls you want to jump it on the other side we can kind of go over the interior yeah yeah yeah I'll get i'll get and by the way yeah the Scat Pack car will have upwards of 670 horsepower said that let's sit in Scat Pack yeah let's do that why don't you sit in why don't you get behind the driver's seat and I'll get in the passenger seat this is exciting Andre this is so exciting this is more performance like I said 670 horsepower and 3.3 second Roman 3.3 seconds there to 60s now in this car so now we're getting down into that next snap electric horsepower uh acceleration now I have to tell you Andre remember the old charger Challenger twins yes right they had this kind of sea of black over here with nothing but kind of plastic and leather on the on the on the screen yeah I mean on the on the front dash look look how much contrast there is look how much visual interest there is much more interesting car uh to be sitting I I think so I think I mean they need to get this car right right and I I think they're doing it with lots of design touches and interesting materials now with the old UK connect um stellantis had some of the best uh infotainment in the business it it always worked it was very straightforward and I'm I'm hoping that you know the newest version uh is going to continue in that long tradition what I'm seeing here is uh you know nice real buttons for your HVAC which I love um makes me really happy one two uh us USBC ports uh here we have Lane keep I believe ooh traction control off so you can burn them and also launch control mode there's also other Drive modes so there obviously we can't start the car up and drive no it be like the Dukes of Hazards here man we would just just fly off but the stage but they have doughnut mode drift mode launch mode um they're going to have um Driving Experience recorder so you can record your track sessions if you you're at the road track or Dr strip what do you think of this I love that I'm glad they didn't you know they went away from the rotary uh switch do you want to hold this yeah I'll hold the light uh and I love the fact that feels like a pistol grip almost you know the old school pistol oo key key we're like kids in a candy store sorry it's it's like we've never seen this before yeah you keep get where to look I like that it's it's very Hefty it's got a a good sense of wetin there's a little bit of I'm going to say fake carbon fiber uh but it's a nice key it it it feels substantial and look this charger has a charger a wireless charger yeah so charger doing charging and let's keep going a volume knob which is always very uh kind of small and a tune knob which is even more welcome wow we're looking at heated uh seats uh a heated steering wheel Andre uh and um yeah uh I I I do really like the design of the interior of this vehicle I think it's really nice of course we have a big sunroof if you want to show them that yeah there um panoramic going all the way to the back um and also there's a detail here there's like it says Daytona up there um and they listed some more specs dude so we said 670 horsepower they talked about quarter mile times because it's a Dodge and they said 11.5 seconds 0 to um I'm sorry quarter mile uh elapse times uh and also Power Shot which adds about 40 horsepower on demand like for example when you're doing that launch but maximum power are still 670 so sub 12 minute qu miles uh which is very respectable yeah but it's not Tesla territory I mean plaid territory right of course you guys know plaid is 0 to 16 about uh uh two seconds is 2.1 and then if we're talking Lucid with 1,234 h a lot of horsepower it'll it'll run 9se second A4 mile times uh but you know here's the part here's the robre here's where gets tricky you know when we go to the drag strip you see people bringing Teslas but the guys who are driving the hellcats um don't necessarily want to line up against the guys who are driving the Chargers it's like electric versus electric versus combustion versus com a hcat driver never I never wanted to see him line up against a pad or even a Tesla Model 3 Performance or a lucid right because what's missing of course is that is that tactile uh Rumble right that just vibrates your entire body uh where the car just kind of uh you know feels like it's alive but Dodge has thought of that shall we show him what they've thought of yes okay let's go back let's go outside yeah we'll show them we'll show them you know so they they haven't uh I think I'm going to have to L out okay I think this is still pre-production well actually I want to spend more time here Roman okay so this is good no no just oh you want spend more time enjoying it I am enjoying myself look at the back of the seat too I like that right this is this is kind of a race seat where you'd have you a five highness come through there and you could see the seat folded down once again uh Roman is going to walk around uh there's a heads up display um top speed they listed between 137 thank you Roman and 133 mph top speed yeah I'm not too thrilled by that I'd like to see 150 160 right but maybe the bansi will have that we don't know yet well that's cuz the Germans are there uh the Germans have this Unwritten agreement where for the autobond unless your Porsche they won't exceed 155 from the factory but 137 is a lot but still for a car of this caliber should we talk about this really quick before we talk about the exhaust well I was going to talk about the uh the the charging range and at the end at the end yeah okay so you were mentioning the sound experience yes um now so they show this on the concept they're calling it The F fret zonic chambered exhaust uh and what is an exhaust you're basically moving air right that's what the engine does well they have speakers inside there I thought it was basically like a pipe organ it was kind of there's a speaker and it amplifies the sound through this pipe yes right through this chamber so it's not just a speaker that's thumping out not just a little speaker no no no it's supposed to mimic get really loud you know the decibel level it mimics your throttle response yeah so if you go vroom vroom the frats on it goes and also it's supposed to change with Drive modes change with speed change with you know the car as it's moving they also said you could pull up to a light put it in like Park and rev it at the light if you really wanted to didn't they also announce that it was going to be here you go there was going to be actually louder than the current hellcats yeah de wise the deciel level could be insane goes even you know higher than that uh and and look here's the question that Dodge of course is struggling with how do you bring the muscle car into the electric car era and I could hear the comments now you don't right what you do is you keep building traditional uh cars that are powered by internal combustion so if that's the case there is hope why is that Andre it's coming it's coming so they're going to have a different version called the sixpack not Daytona but six-pack with a straight 6 3 l brand new twin turbo in two variations the standard one will be 420 horsepower and the high output will be 550 horsepower so if you want that combustion goodness yes uh you can still get that and still that's a lot of power dude 550 is more than like the current Dark Horse so is that the same powertrain that is in the current uh Jeep Wagoner and the and the new RAM and the new Ram the twin turbo hurricane V6 so that's going to be in this car and that's coming next year not this year and I know it isn't a V8 but you know I would point to the example of the F-150 10 years ago the F-150 didn't do away with the coyote but basically made the uh hero engine the 3.5 L V6 twin turbo and they've sold hundreds of thousands of those you've actually every year yeah yeah and you've own that truck actually I did uh so so there is U internal combustion coming it just won't be this year yeah and it won't be V8 and it won't be V8 it will be a straight six but dude that engine in the in the Ram 1500 I just drove it recently and it's a smooth heck it's a great orientation how will it sound we don't know all right so let's get into the technical numbers of electric cars um and please don't turn away here because this is how you judge electric car performance now so let's start with the battery size do we know how big the battery is yes so it's just over 100 KW hours that's total seems right yes that's for big four five passenger sure uh about 94 of that is usable yep and then this car so the RT the B base one they're saying around 3177 mes of range okay this one with more power about 260 M A Range all right so it's not going to win a lot of efficiency contests but that's not the point right it's not the point of this curve all right so next big thing of course how long does it take to charge do we know the charging curve what will it be flat will it be and what I'm talking about is when you plug it in the car is empty how long can it hold its Optimum charging rate and how what is that Optimum charging rate is it 50 Kow is it 200 is it 250 right so C let's unpack this really quick let's go to the charging port I guess it's in the rear of this car here um so first of all like you said 400 volt architecture then on level three they've stated 183 KW fastest speed okay so it's not 250 it's not 350 it's it's 183 um and you know now every manufacturer uses different metrics some say say 20 to 80% some say 10 to 80 5 to 8 it's really confusing that's why we want the number and not like well it'll take you half hour to go from 20 to 88% right we don't care about that cuz that that number is so squishy what we care about is how fast 183 183 and then the question is how long can it hold that and for reference we've owned a lot of electric cars including uh the Hummer EV which uh one time I saw charge up to 368 KW but that's a different architecture yeah but it doesn't hold that speed very very long right so we'll have to test this car right um as we get production versions of them and see how that goes so it's not maybe the fastest charging car but if this oh there it is there you go it does have level 3 level two by the way uh level two is 11 Kow I'm surprised it doesn't have the Tesla the North American NAX standard yet it still has a CCS they said Stant is just switching but maybe it'll take a little bit more time for them to switch seems I want to look at this not yet no don't I got a plan here I got a master plan okay not yet they've been switching forever it seems like I've been wake we keep getting emails from you guys when can we plug our car into the uh non Tesla Tesla charger and I'm like yeah wish we knew that's really up to Tesla all right so we've got some of the big numbers so we've got battery size we've got Max charge rate we've got uh range yes uh do we have pricing Andre no all right no and um so this car I talked about stage one on that car stage two kit on this car 670 horsepower once again we don't know the pricing yet and how it's going to compare it to gas versions of the cars but you know we know one more thing what's that we talked about the size of this car it's the weight these cars are pretty heavy how much they're big 5800 lb curb yeah that's a lot that's a lot of weight that's a th000 more than like a Tesla Model as plat if I'm not mistaken right approximately yes so these cars are heavy but partially that has has to do with because they had to engineer the car so it accepts a battery but also a gasoline engine and a fuel tank right so it can do both at the factory right yeah so you can you can do and I think that's a smart idea you know Porsche is doing that with a new Maan or do you say McAn where you can get either the internal combustion or the electrified version um and we know that it's going to come out this summer so we know production date but do we know mpge another number we don't know no no we don't all right that didn't say all right so one more thing we want to do before we wrap this up and that is show you this this this is quite the surprise now to you this may not look so surprising but um let's talk about the color first peel out peel out they've got some great great names for colors the red one was red ey you know they have regular white yes you know what they call that White Knuckle the White Knuckle yeah yeah I love the names and what of course makes this unique is T four doors four doors now we can't open this one unfortunately it's not uh it's not um production ready uh but we can show you what it'll look like in four doors so four-door hatchback who would have thought so Roman by the way the wheelbase is the same between twoo and four-door and the the back on this four-door is a little bit elongated right it's a little bit more of a kind of a Fastback look this car is coming in the four-door orientation next year in 2025 and it still has the same kind of character the same lines as far as the lights and the same roof little spoiler in the back yes but it's a it's a this is kind of a pre-production model so we can't go inside of it so uh I got to say Andre I am very pleasantly surprised I mean um you know how do you reinvent American Muscle without internal combustion um and there's really two you know if you collect cars or watches there's always two parts to it right there's the mechanics of it you know how the watch works and then there's the Aesthetics of it or what it looks like and you could say the same thing about a car right there's what powers it which in a lot of ways what gives a character and then there's the way that it looks I think they've nailed it out of the ballpark when it comes to the way that it looks I think there's no doubt if this were on the autobot in Germany or you know roaring down the uh Interstate in America you'll know this is an American car immediately mhm the question that is left unanswered of course is is a character part will all of the Dodge and muscle car fans um adopt adapt to an accept an electric motor as opposed to an internal combustion engine and if not are they going to be happy with a you know twin turbo V6 and that is one of those cliches of Journalism which is stay tuned or time will tell well guys I think we've covered it all haven't we as far as we know we did yeah uh I mean there's a lot of little details about these cars but I really want to see them in full production guys um and actually take them on the road yeah and I think price will be a huge determining Factor yeah because right now there's a lot of headwind blowing into the electric vehicle world uh people have decided uh for better or worse uh that they don't want to deal with all of the world of you know charging that comes with it especially given that our charging Network in America is pitiful at this point and I know all your Tesla fans are like yeah it's great no even Teslas are you know still pretty pitiful compared to every gas station in every corner um and it'll be you know it'll be a it'll be an interesting experiment to see if you can sell an American muscle car uh that's powered by electrons and not by um you know dinosaurs dead dinosaurs I know it's not dead dinosaurs but you know what I mean all right guys well thank you for joining us let us know in the comments what you think is this something that you'd be interested in what price point would would make you interested in this uh and uh go on over to all tf. uh for for more news views and real reviews and Andre thank you very much for being my cameraman and being behind the camera I really appreciate it oh yeah yeah yeah and um yeah it's a big deal like you said with price I just remembered something too go for um the batteries that are using initially are not built made in U us so it may not Samsung so it may not be eligible for all of the federal credits maybe some State credits right tax credits so that that will be another deciding factor and also leasing people might lease this car you know there's a way around that I was just at a local dealership uh and the way they do it is you can lease the car for 3 years and that way you get the tax credits the federal tax credits and state tax credits and after two months you can buy out the lease you know Bam Bam there you go you just got around it I hate when government does stupid you know stuff like that that people quickly figure a way to shortcut anyway thank you guys we'll see you next time ciao all [Music] righty s
