[Music] hello everyone welcome back to my channel and welcome back to a very exciting video a highly anticipated one and one that I feel like I've been planning for the past few weeks my 2024 bullet Journal setup this one will be a pretty long video so I hope you have your drink of choice perhaps a snack or two and we're just going to get right into it cuz we have a lot to get through before I get into the nitty-gritty I would of course love to introduce to you the journal that I will be using for the entirety of 2024 this is the star night Journal courtesy of scribbles that matter filled entirely with 160 GSM pure black pages I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea it is extremely different than a majority of the journaling setups that you see on YouTube or just on the internet in general however I have just been itching to get my hands on a black page bullet Journal again the last one I did was for 2020 and I absolutely loved it so huge thank you to the team at scribbles that matter for reaching out and letting me pick out one of their bullet journals to try for 2024 so like my previous yearly bullet Journal setups I normally try to stick to a certain theme or color palette to keep things a bit more cohesive and easier to kind of work around when I'm in the planning stages that being said I naturally used the black pages of this journal as inspiration and went with a very kind of Gothic mysterious Vibe I ended up choosing photos that are mainly black and white which is quite a deviation normally I choose photos that have some kind of color to add a bit of contrast uh however this time I decided to use more gold and craft paper accents which definitely end up making it easier to narrow down the kinds of stationary that I will end up using to set up these pages I will try to also include as many products as I can in the description box however if there's something you're interested in that I didn't end up mentioning uh or sharing the link to feel free to leave a comment most of these things should be available somewhere um I am 100% certain though that the cloud washi tape specifically is no longer available on Archer and olives website everything else though I think should be fair [Music] [Music] game so whenever I Journal I like to keep on hand my little stack of misprinted sticker sheets from my shop I do sell some seconds here and there however these stickers printed perfectly fine unfortunately for this batch of dark Academia stickers I forgot to switch out the headers so they all say Pride and Prejudice which is obviously incorrect uh luckily for me because they are still cut well I was able to use them for this year [Music] [Music] setup a huge aspect of the behind the scenes planning process when it comes to my my yearly bullet journals is really about figuring out what I want that journal to represent for the year ahead for me I think 2023 was definitely about me trying to find my style my Persona what motivates me what drives me what makes me feel the most creative or not creative at all so I really wanted to take this past year to think about those things and I know that as humans we're ever changing and ever evolving and those questions will continuously be asked to ourselves as we live our dayto day but with that being said I am really glad that I spent this past year trying to better understand myself as a person and as an artist because now I feel like I can truly focus on the dream life that I want to create earlier in the year I ended up taking quite a few skillshare classes that really helped me kind of unlock my creative identity and pinpoint those strengths that I should be applying and using in the things that I create on a daily basis I'll make sure to leave links for those classes in the description box um highly highly recommend especially if you are feeling in a creative rut or just looking for a little bit more clarity when it comes to who you are as an artist and as a creative so with all that being said I really want to take all the things that I've learned about my creative identity and use them towards helping to make my dreams a reality in 2024 and when I say dreams I don't necessarily mean like the fame fortune notoriety like the tangible things my dream for 24 is to essentially love every single thing that I create whether that's for me or for other people but of course I do understand that there will be some days where I'm not feeling the best not feeling the most creative however it's more so about me understanding now how to get myself out of those slumps by reaching towards the things that I love to watch watch to listen to reaching towards those things that I know will give me the motivation to create and art history is definitely one of those things for me so that's why I really wanted to lean into it for my 2024 bullet Journal setup all righty that was a lot of rambling my throat is dry and we're only seven minutes in so this is going great uh although I definitely wasn't planning on this being a super chatty setup I do like talking a little bit here and there just to break up the background music however I personally enjoy videos that are a little bit of a mix between chatty and not chatty silence I guess I don't know you you get what I'm saying un ironically though I am still going to be chatting for a little bit here before we cue back into the uh background music I knew that I wanted to use like the signature Gothic font to write out 2024 um however I did not realize how long it would actually take me even with the reference from Pinterest that I was using I am by no means a typography expert so Elizabeth aka the greater good if you are watching this please don't come for me I tried my best okay there were no like references or lines dots of any sort on this page it was completely blank and I can't make a straight line even with the ruler to save my life but nonetheless I feel like it turned out pretty good for it being my first time writing in this font specifically I also ended up using the jelly roll pen in the size 10 I believe to do this whole satisfying fill-in situation I definitely feel like this size is the best for coloring in certain spots uh and then the five is my personal favorite size for like writing out text also I definitely stocked up on my white jelly roll pens for the upcoming year because I knew I'd be going through them pretty quickly throughout this entire bullet Journal [Music] all righty I knew it wouldn't be a true Gothic inspired setup without at least doodling a few architecture elements here and there throughout these pages I used the jelly roll pen for pretty much all of them unless it ended up being on like the craft paper that I was using these Doodles definitely took me a long time to do but if anything it made me really want to start doing it an art history Journal essentially it would be like my high school notebook but how I would take notes now I was definitely the student that would put way too much time and effort into like the notes for class also no surprise that my favorite class in high school was art history so much so that I still have the textbook from that class it is literally sitting on my shelf and I was actually considering getting like the updated version of that textbook because at this point it's probably like 10 plus years old and some things might be out of date I also have the notes from that class still and I was looking at them earlier in the year and I was horrified by how I used to take notes but back then I probably thought they were like the nicest looking notes ever but but yeah now I really want to start an art history Journal let me know if that's something you'd at all be interested in I mean I know that there are fellow art nerds out there but if that's a video you'd like to see let me know but you know that's that's another thing I need to work on and not do is not necessarily like think of ideas with the intention of monetizing them I need to stop feeling like every idea needs to be content when it could just be something for me but how cool would an art history Journal video be though like honestly let me [Music] [Music] know [Music] [Music] [Music] for all righty so right now I'm working on my 2024 aspirations page I stopped calling it goals a while ago I think because for some reason the idea of a goal sounds really intimidating to me I wanted it to feel more like something I can aspire to achieve something that I can get close to achieving and it's okay if I don't hit it but at least I'm trying so that's why I'm calling it aspirations instead of goals something else I decided to do differently this year was instead of writing out whatever aspirations I have directly on the page I will be writing them instead on small pieces of paper and adding those pieces into the small envelope that I pasted on the page that way I can kind of add to it whenever I want I can take away something that I already achieved or if I think of something that I want to Aspire towards like in July I can add it in and it just feels a little bit less permanent overall I'm really happy with how it turned out and I think it's something really fun that I can kind of interact with throughout 2024 also ironically enough I ended up writing out goals anyways with this sticker washi tape but you get the idea it's more so just like a mindset for me if I think of it as more of like something I can work towards instead of something that I have to get a handle on and then I finished off the page with just adding this little like gothy angel wing to the side using the same jelly roll [Music] pen [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all righty so my aspirations page and my mood board page are complete I really only do mood boards because I obviously enjoyed journaling and it was fun to kind of just throw a whole bunch of Gothic elements onto one page and kind of separate it from the utility of other Pages we are now going to be moving on to day two of setting up my 2024 bullet Journal I have my morning coffee I'm ready to go those four spreads took basically about an hour each mainly because I'm not really trying to rush through them I'm taking my time I'm listening to music I'm just kind of in The Vibes and not really paying attention to the clock however that doesn't stop you know my mind from getting a little bit exhausted after sitting down for so long and I enjoy looking at things with a fresh mind especially in the morning I'm definitely a morning person when it comes to feeling the most creative so I decided to take a break for the day and I am now back to work on a few more pages all in all this setup ended up taking basically about 3 days to complete which is why I wanted to start creating it as early as possible because I knew it would be a hefty video to edit luckily we are starting off day two on a more lighter note I am going to kind of speed through these four index pages PES I did very minimal doodle and design because a there wasn't really much free space to do anything crazy it is kind of hard to see the index lines with the color grading that I normally do for my videos but the lines are there um this is the first bullet Journal I'm using that actually has a dedicated index I've never used one before but I think this would be really cool to fill in through throughout the year especially since the pages in this bullet Journal are numbered so that makes things way easier um but yeah I'm doing these spreads pretty quickly doing a few of those Gothic architecture elements and then adding some washi tape and stickers in the blank spaces and yeah that's pretty much it for these four pages [Music] for [Music] okay we are now moving on to probably one of my favorite spreads from last year's bullet Journal but obviously with a 2024 twist this is the themes spread so at the end of 2024 I will be printing out 12 photos that represent each of the themes that I chose for for the months of the year and adding them onto this page the only difference between last year's spread and this year's is that I was kind of printing out the photos as I was creating the monthly setups which meant that the photos were all kind of different sizes different uneven Square shapes so the page didn't end up looking as aesthetically pleasing as I wanted it to so this year I'm waiting till the end of 2024 to print out all the photos at once to make sure they all look the same they all look symmetrical and then pacing them in as a kind of year in review if there's any spread to take away from the setup it is definitely this one it's just so much fun to create and a really cool spread to look back on when the year is over as you can see the gothic font has made its return for the header and I think it ended up looking a lot better than the 2024 from earlier mainly because I had the dot grid guidelines to work with I used my all-time favorite black pen the ritech up gel pen in I think size hold on I have it here in the size5 it is my Holy Grail pen I cannot recommend it enough it does not smudge it is super opaque 10 out of 10 if you are looking for an amazing pen to use in your bullet journals for next year it is by far this pen I think they also come in blue but I don't really work with blue ink ever um but I think this header turned out amazing I am now officially obsessed with the gothic font I want it everywhere and I think I want to get better at typography cuz this was a lot of fun to [Music] do [Music] is [Music] in [Music] is [Music] so over the years I think one thing that doing bullet journaling has taught me is to let go of perfectionism and be okay if things aren't even and don't line up I know in some cases things look really nice when they're symmetrical but I was more so just trying to focus on making sure that these 12 squares fit on this spread to title the squares I used a sticker sheet from Saka Studio however I did not realize the mistake I would be making when choosing this sheet until it was kind of too late not me just realizing that I had used both of the December stickers I'm so sorry December please forget oh no it's not coming off while I wanted to yeah so unfortunately I had to gently remove this sticker from my gratitude tracker from December which was kind of sad I hate just ripping stuff off of and it tore like the paper and it was not it was not a fun experience but I needed that sticker for the spread out otherwise it definitely would have looked not quite right if 11 out of 12 looked the same and then one was different I do have like a monthly sticker sheet that I sell in my shop however I wanted the stickers to be a little bit bigger which is why I chose these ones from Saka um and I still love how it looked it was just I I kind of kicked myself in the butt because I was forced to tear a sticker out of my own journal but nonetheless I think it looks really cool obviously the spacing between the squares is uneven and doesn't account for the thickness of the monthly stickers which is why some of them are like turned on their side or next to the square instead of underneath or above it but nonetheless I think it still looks really cool even though the titles are all over the place and then as usual I'm finishing off this spread with adding in those same architecture [Music] doodles [Music] all righty moving on to to the next set of spreads starting off with the productivity tracker this is another returning page from last year's bullet Journal I had so much fun filling this in throughout the year and because it's almost the end of December it is almost filled in and it is looking really cool so I'm looking forward to sharing that on my socials speaking of if you are interested in seeing even more of my bullet journaling content feel free to check out my stuff on Instagram I post on there as often as I can and I will definitely be sharing how this year's productivity tracker looks once the year is [Music] over so after reuniting with a black page bullet Journal once again I remembered one of the reasons why I love using black pages so much is because it is incredibly easy to fix Mistakes by using a black pen I went in with the same rch gel pen and just cleaned up those areas where the jelly roll kind of went a little bit wild and where the uh the lines weren't exactly super straight even though I used a ruler for some of them remember what I said about me not being able to make straight lines with rulers this is easily fixable in a Black Bullet Journal cuz I could just use a black pen and it looks like nothing nothing happened I also realized however that because I am using black pages that kind of drastically reduces the color options I have when it comes to filling in this productivity tracker I know that there's a ton of jelly roll colors available however this color palette that I'm using is obviously very neutral and I think they have a few options but I didn't have any of them on me so un un like last year's productivity tracker this year's only has three options so I end up using the white jelly roll pen the gold one that I've been using to add in accents throughout the setup and then just the black paper itself if you know of any pens that work really well on black paper and that kind of fit that neutral color palette that I'm looking for please tell me in the comments because I need to stock up on more more pens so I don't just use the white jelly roll for an entire [Music] [Music] year [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so after finishing the productivity tracker I quickly realized that I had completely skipped an entire spread for some reason I have no idea how that happened but I end up going back to it after finishing the weather tracker but I had given myself some kind of false hope thinking that I was almost done with the setup when I really had just skipped two pages you know that that's okay okay so as I pet my furry four-legged son who has demanded attention currently I'm going to quickly talk about how I wanted to set up this year's weather tracker last year I did the same kind of pixel setup that I did for the productivity tracker so I wanted to do something a little bit different because these spreads are right next to each other and I felt like it would have looked a little bit repetitive if I did the same setup so instead what I decided to do was use these mini calendar stickers this sheet you can find in my shop currently this is the 2024 calendar mini sticker sheet uh and I think it looks really cool it made the spread a lot quicker to complete and also just kind of broke up the pages and the craft paper against the black just is chef's kiss for me it looks so good I do recognize however that by looking at this overhead footage that the stickers are definitely not evenly spread out and some of them are even a little crooked so I apologize if that is driving some people insane I would totally understand why however I think it's difficult cuz when you're journaling you're almost doing it at an angled point of view anyways so I wouldn't have even noticed how crooked I was making things until Wasing the footage back hope hopefully it's not super distracting I think it's passable enough to not be something I would have to redo but as I mentioned earlier the weather tracker for last year's setup was definitely an afterthought but I'm super glad that I decided to create it because it ended up snowing like in early March and I live in a city in California where it does not snow like I didn't even have it as like a category on the weather tracker because it like why would I if it never snows here so it was just it ended up working out cuz something really cool happened that had to do with the weather and I was able to find a way to track it I guess that being said this spread is definitely more for like the novelty aspect I personally enjoy huge yearly trackers even if they're like about the randomest things so so this is this spread is definitely not necessary to do I think it would have been really cool to do more of these yearly trackers however I just didn't a have enough time and B I didn't want to take up more pages than necessary for these intoductory setup Pages however if there are any yearly trackers that you do religiously and that you would recommend or if you have any ideas let me know I think it'd be really cool to have like a dedicated journ that's just for yearly trackers um yeah I don't know I kind of just want a journal for everything at this point if it wasn't already [Music] obvious [Music] okay so I definitely lied when I said that I was going to go back to the other two pages when I finished the weather tracker I just ended up continuing because I really wanted to do this next page also I made the executive decision to foro the 2024 calendar page because I felt like the weather tracker ended up being that anyways so at the time of filming this particular part of the setup I had no idea what I wanted to do for this extra page but if you keep watching the video you'll see that I eventually go back but I don't film it because that makes way too much sense anyways moving on to this next page I had seen this idea on Pinterest I'll make sure to link the reference image in the description box but essentially this is a letter to myself I thought this idea was so cool and something that would be really fun to read at the end of 2024 so I included these same little mini Vellum envelope that I used during my journal toober pages and then Drew in some lines above that so I can go back read the letter and reflect on my thoughts at the end of the year overall it's a pretty simple spread but I am really looking forward to writing a letter to My Future [Music] [Music] Self [Music] [Music] [Music] all righty friends it's time to work on the final spread for my 2024 bullet Journal setup although this obviously was supposed to be done earlier but I I skipped over it yada yada yada you know why we're here starting off with the favorites page for this year this will be the 24 favorites of 2024 unlike the 23 favorites of 2023 you see what I did there it'll keep increasing as the years go by and then I have to think of more things that I enjoy throughout the year overall this page is pretty self-explanatory so we'll just we'll just go back to the background music for now [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right moving on to the next page this will be the 2024 library page where I will document any books that I read throughout the year unfortunately this upcoming footage is a little bit scuffed because my entire head was in the shot for 90% of it so I had to cut most of it out but I think you get the idea um I just ended up drawing a bunch of empty books with the white jelly roll pen I think I did about 27 I learned my lesson from previous years that giving myself the goal of reading 50 books is way too much when I mostly spend my time doing other things and I'm very much a mood reader and if I'm not in the mood to read I won't pick up a book for months but even though I don't really read too much I still really enjoy making book related Journal spreads I've tried so many times in the past years to have a dedicated read reading Journal but I just end up neglecting it halfway through the year and never go back to it so all that time that I spent making those spreads just kind of goes to waste so I think I just need to find a happy medium and create a reading Journal that I could fill out over time and one that isn't necessarily tied to a singular year so I can still make reading related Journal spreads but are not useless when the year is over if that makes sense that being said I still really enjoy doing book rated journaling pages in my yearly setups so I'm looking forward to filling this [Music] out [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so as I mentioned earlier I eventually came up with with an idea for this blank page long after I had finished the filming for the setup so I don't have the footage of me creating this page but it's pretty simple it's essentially just a year in scribbles so it'll be a place where I can document track reflect on the previous year in terms of my business my branding my socials any sort of Statistics that I want to reflect on this is what that page will be dedicated to all right friends we have officially made it to the end of the video which means it is finally time for the final flip through of my 2024 bullet Journal setup if you've made it to the end of the video first of all thank you so much I hope you enjoyed and thank you for sticking with me
