2024 BMW X5 M60i REVIEW |The Best SUV For $100K

[Music] foreign [Music] what's up everyone welcome back to Miami miles my name is Mickey in today's video we've got the X5 m60i a mouthful but a car in British racing green that looks so damn stunning that when Uncle Pete picked us up from the airport today I fell in love I was like is this the Pinnacle of SUVs at a hundred thousand dollars this car option as it sits it's 103 Grand and it's got the 4.4 liter V8 it's got a mild hybrid powertrain it's got some of the speed and sensations of the x5m at forty thousand dollars cheaper but that's not what this car competes against it competes against the Cayenne the question is is it better than Cayenne for this price point well today we're gonna find out anyways let's get right into it I think the most logical places start with this car is this paint British racing green a five thousand dollar individual option I think if you're gonna get an X5 a car that's not the most sporty X5 in the world which is x5m you might as well get it in a crazy color like this but when it comes to this car I love this angle right here the kidney grows are incredible this bottom section of the bumper looks so aggressive and menacing and I do love the fact that they've made this part actually functional and these right here functional as well so from a stance and presence perspective the front is really gorgeous but as you come around the side you lose some of that aggressiveness and some of that M ethos because it just looks like a regular X5 sure you've got the BMW M mirrors which have this right here those look sporty but you also have these vents here which are completely useless why are you guys installing fake vents on cars that ruin the lines I'd rather you take those off and make for a much cleaner side of the car nonetheless I mean it looks okay from the side but again normal X5 now come here the back the ass man BMW's really stepped up their game when it comes to design haven't they you guys know they had an awkward transition period in the mid-2010s but now I believe that they have a design that competes with Porsche and Mercedes in the back is actually really nice I love how this car has the Dual exit exhaust pipes and if you look inside you can see that the tailpipes are actually there and there's two of them not the fake one that most cars have so the back looks actually really nice and overall I believe that this car is a good looking car especially for its price point now I would recommend if you're going to purchase one of these get a color like this having this collar just makes it feel special and honestly it's the only thing that makes me want to drive this car and makes me want to review it so why don't we jump inside take a look at the interior which is also special and then go for a drive oh boy the interior of the X5 m60i look at these seats the tartufo Merino interior is absolutely stunning with this quilting the way it runs down the center of the seat and actually once you sit in the seat they're so damn comfortable then you turn your attention and face forward and you're greeted by this M sport steering wheel which is really nice it's got the nice M stitching the carbon fiber everywhere on the dash here in the center console the little Crystal to change gears and this huge screen this part of the screen gives you speedometer rev counter and then this part of the screen gives you your Apple carplay and what I love is when you enable Apple carplay it actually takes up the entire screen which is sick an absolutely brilliant interior but this car right here with this paint and this interior is 103 845 dollars but get this the base price is only 89 300 that's very cheap but once you add five thousand dollar British racing green paint nineteen hundred and fifty dollar beautiful tartufo interior the driving assistance pro package which basically lets the car drive like a teslan autopilot on the highway for 2100 the M sport professional package 650 parking assistance 900 executive package 1650 climate control package for a thousand and the carbon fiber trim for 300 bucks for a grand total of one hundred and three thousand eight hundred and forty five dollars you can you guys can go on the internet and see what all those packages do I just know that this is a nice place to sit and that's how I gauge my cars what I like to say here every day would I like to drive this car every day would I like to enjoy it every day and so far yes but I think the thing that's going to transcend that opinion and take it to the next level is taking it for a drive so why don't we jump in go for a drive where I show you what it's like in Comfort mode and then turn it all the way up to Full Tilt 530 horsepower sport mode and show you if it exactly extracts any emotions for me so let's hit it so here we are in the X5 m60i we are in Eco Pro mode super economical even though the fuel economy reads 17 City 22 Highway 19 miles per gallon combined it gets the same gas mileage as my wife's Escalade but as we turn onto this road right here we're going to take it easy at first and see what this car is like to live with and honestly it's really nice Chicago doesn't have the most evenly paved roads this road itself it does have some unevenness to it some holes in the road and this car handles the bumps extremely well and in Eco Pro mode you don't even notice that this car is internal combustion you can't hear the engine note what so ever and I'm actually going 45 miles an hour right now and the car feels subdued comfortable luxurious even something that you can take your family on a nice long journey in and then you go like this and it does this gives you a U-turn because it does have rear wheel steer basically in one lane which is unbelievable I do love the fact that this car has rear wheel steer and you can actually feel it as you move the steering wheel God it's got a lot of body roll though but honestly I'm an Eco Pro mode Comfort suspension it does have adaptive suspension we'll talk about that in a moment when we turn it up all the way to sport but in this situation right here it's very very comfortable now a feature that I love about this car is the fact that it's got adaptive cruise control and you can just enable it by pressing this little button here and I was actually using this a little bit earlier when Uncle Pete was driving us home from the airport and you could just Cruise the car's driving itself keeping me in the lane I can talk to you guys and not be afraid of getting in an accident I think that option is like two grand as I mentioned before it's pretty damn awesome actually so yeah that's good car is extremely comfortable Tech's all right apart from the fact that it takes nine clicks to get to the damn climate control I don't understand why it make it accessible from one click but to just change the fan speed you have to hit a climate menu button then you have to hit the fan speed and to get the air to redirection where you want it to point towards your face you have to press this button like nine times which is pretty stupid if I were to say the sore point of the car is the controls for the climate control but besides that as a car to live with it's incredible so now now that we know you can live with this car which to be honest I don't really give a about because I want a car that I can drive by myself in press the sport button and unleash a monster oh my God has so much mid-range punch you just put your foot down and that 4.4 liter V8 comes alive and you feel every single one of those 530 horsepowers now this car is quoted at 0-60 at 4.1 seconds and I can promise you it's that damn fast like it's it's it's hard to identify a difference between this and the M3 in terms of performance from zero to 70 miles an hour like I've driven a lot of G80 M3s the x-drive versions and this thing pulls just as hard shifts the same with that eight-speed transmission and delivers the gut punch in the exact same way it's so torquey and then if you want to just turn around again with the rear wheel steer let me not curb Uncle Pete's Wheels but you won't because it's got an impeccable turning radius then punch the power again okay on to the brakes and I think that's a good talking point these brakes for not being x5n brakes or carbon ceramic brakes they've got such great feel you have no doubt that the car is going to bring you to a stop and then you get back into first and you're like I want boost second gear third gear to the car when you're on power it does make you a little bit sweaty because it's Swift I'm not going to say it's the fastest thing in the world but it's fast enough to make you and your passengers both smile but where does that leave us as this car and its performance characteristics well I think that it's good but not great because the Nuance between good and great is the way a car sounds and even though this car is packing eight cylinders and I'm driving around this same stretcher Road like an idiot put my foot down and that's all the noise I got no noise no noise no emotion just thrust and that's weird because the last generation X5 in this same guys with this same engine without all the hybrid sounded much better somehow they've managed to make this car more comfortable but more quiet and the quietness takes away from the experience that you want to bring you a smile and I think that's important to me it might not be important to every Dad or Mom in the nation but when I throw my son in the back I want to give him the woes and I want him to feel the sensation of speed even when you're not going fast and when you eliminate the noise you end up with a car that gives you a lot of thrust but not a lot of emotion and that's what this car is missing I think from a performance standpoint the engine is excellent the transmission is excellent the way that it steers and goes around a corner is actually really incredible for the size of this car but it's missing one thing and that is sound which means it's missing emotion and if it's missing emotion it's not bringing quite the smell out of my face that it should so yes it's like having really good sex but it's not quite great and I think that's what this car is it's really good at everything it's a solid proposition something that you could buy Enjoy with your family at least for three years and trade in for the other one because it's not something that I think you'll keep for life that being said when you're born about to fall asleep at the wheel
