2024 BMW X5 M40i SDrive - Is It BETTER THAN EVER?

hi everybody it's Tom from vehicle Visionary I hope you're having a great day today we're at Orr BMW here in Shreveport Louisiana this is the 2024 BMW X5 it receives a Refresh on the exterior and interior at least a few changes not a full redesign but some changes worth talking about for the 2024 model here but you're still going to find a vehicle that well to be completely honest when you consider the technology that it has all of the features and all of the functionality it actually lives up to its price tag it has a roomy interior for driver and passengers also a roomy cargo area let's dig in a little bit deeper and see exactly what's new for the 2024 model year and see if the BMW X5 is better than ever based on some of your comments from the refreshed version of the X7 for 2023 something you'll like here you don't have that same split headlight look I had a few people that say they didn't really like that but you can see this arrow look with the daytime running lights and the turn signals really gives it well somewhat of an in motion look and there are still some familiar things here that haven't changed as far as the Grille design goes you also have the large active air curtains right here they're pretty big compared to a lot of other vehicles that are out there you will also still have the power adjustable side view mirrors body colored mirror caps and yes the turn signal indicators are built in and just in case you're curious here's your remote for the 2024 model year really no major changes where that is concerned but a very nice remote it's not too big not too small seems to be just the right size everything you expect to see there will be there the roof rails up top we're going to have the rear roof spoiler to help Channel air over this rear window it's not just there to look nice even though it does that actually channels air over this rear window when the vehicle is in motion that's one of the ways you can help to keep that clean that works very well and remember that arrow look we saw with the headlights with the daytime running lights and the blinkers well you'll see the same thing here with the tail lights a very nice look LED lighting obviously everywhere you look we're also going to have those exhaust finishers down there that make everything look nice as far as the rear goes and by the way when you're not in motion and this rear window gets dirty well you have your rear window wiper to help take care of things and depending on the engine option that you go with there is increased horsepower for the six cylinder and eight cylinder engine options also you will find the 48 volt mild hybrid technology here and if you go with the plug-in hybrid you will find increased driving range as for what we have here under the hood it's the three liter straight six the Twin power six cylinder 375 horsepower 383 pounds feet of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and I know a lot of people are wanting to know about MPGs so let's see what BMW says you should be able to achieve 23 City 27 Highway 25 combined and BMW says you should use four gallons of gas per every 100 miles driven and when it comes to Towing the X5 for 2024 is capable of Towing up to 60 602 pounds you have the split tailgate back here that is power and hands free as you can see right there we can push the button right here to lower the lower portion of the split tailgate and how about cargo capacity 22.95 up to 66 cubic feet you have the interior lighting to help out after dark there is a 12 volt power outlet right here and the cargo cover that is removable by the way if you need to make some extra space Maybe to slide something in that's higher than what that allows for that is removable and good news here you have a spare tire underneath the floor and I like how that floor just stays up on its own that's useful that way if you need to gain access to the spare tire you don't have to worry about messing with the floor right there or putting a hook in place or anything like that to keep it in place also has all the tools to change that spare tire now if you want to take advantage of that 22.95 cubic feet up to a maximum of 66 cubic feet you can maximize that by lowering the seats right here that helps you can lower both sides obviously and if you just want to take take advantage of the pass-through right here in the center well that is an option as well you can see what I did to lower that I'm going to take a look in through the passenger side door into the back seat area very nice materials throughout obviously very high end very comfortable armrest we'll put our arm up there for the armrest test that's a good thing it is very soft you'll also find a nice large door bin right here rear seat pocket storage for both sides both seats and and you will also see that we have the rear air conditioning vents right here and down here a couple of connectivity options with USB we also have a 12 volt power outlet down there as well that makes things a lot easier and for you parents out there one thing I like here is the fact that you don't have to worry about taking the covers off for the latch system back here they just swing up and out of the way you can anchor the car seats in here no problem at all that's one less thing to keep up with that makes your life easier and obviously a panoramic sunroof that front portion does tilt or slide open and here on the front passenger door if you have a door bin snob in your life they don't like smaller door bins they better call shotgun or grab the remote and drive but they'll have the larger door bins here quite a bit larger on the front doors as well as a little bit more space for the armrest but just as equally comfortable as you can see power seats for the driver and the passenger you also have the thigh extension right here to help out now that's a manual part but everything else is power adjustable then we'll hop inside here as you can see with the X5 logo right there and more of those arrows kind of what we saw with the front and the rear tail lights you will also see a very nice amount of space and nice material here this felt material within the interior of the center console quite a bit going on here with connectivity there's quite a few options in a few different places you will have your wireless charging pad located right here that's going to be helpful and you do have dual zone climate control really three zones of climate but if you're wondering well there are quite a few features that have made their way into the infotainment screen there are changes there as well we'll talk more about that when we hop into the driver's seat but you can see that this is where you're going to control everything now the one thing I'm not going to control today is going to be right here the heated seats absolutely not headed for 103 degrees here in Northwest Louisiana but you can see what we need to do as far as how to adjust the fan speed and temperature with the screen very simple to use I think you know what is here for the most part and we'll also have the shifter right here that's what this is that's easy to use there's how you're going to go into park and in the event that Monk Is Driving your X5 well he's not going to use the touch screen even though that's what it is he will use the info or the buttons and switches down here the dial and everything that you can use to control everything without actually touching the screen that way there's no fingerprints yes that is correct here's your button for starting and stopping the engine your smart folks I probably don't need to tell you too much about what is here now you do have the gloss black or piano black finish right there so well depending on who you are well muck might have a fit over that he'd probably have to have a glove on or something like that to use some of the functionality here because it might fingerprint up and you do have ambient lighting here we'll pull in to the delivery room here at or BMW in a little bit and show you that a little bit better than we can out here in the sunlight the Bombay doors right here we're going to gain access to another power or USB port I should say right there and a little bit more space for storage within the center console and one thing I will say here putting my arm up there on the center console that's actually at a pretty good height now you can lower the seats if needed to make that user friendly depending on who you are and what your preferences are as driver and passenger but it isn't a good place and as we look in through the driver's door you'll see the typical additions here as far as the button to control that power tailgate back there and the controls for those power side view mirrors as the windows and all that stuff is here now one thing you won't see on the driver or excuse me the passenger side here is going to be what we have right here two settings for seat memory for the driver there is the M logo down there on the door sill and we will have the power adjustable tilt and telescopically adjust adjustable steering wheel and I did forget to mention that there is new animal free vegan leather as well as the 12.3 inch digital drivers display and the infotainment screen at 14.9 inches a very large and modern looking screen as you can see right here quite a bit going on with that you do have built-in navigation obviously you can pair your cell phone all of that is here we'll come back to that in just a second but I did want to show you one of the unique aspects of this particular BMW it's right here look at that it has blinkers for those who say BMWs don't have blinkers you might have to start blaming the drivers for that because believe it or not they all come standard with this feature you will have the nice large shifter paddles here to work your way back and forth through that eight-speed automatic transmission I can't say anything sarcastic about the control on the right hand side of the steering column because people typically use their windshield wipers without any problems whatsoever steering wheel mounted controls as you can see here will also have that M logo down there on the lower portion of the steering wheel and as we work our way up through the screen right here there is a lot going on you can do so much here a lot of changes that you can make with the vehicle we can go into Comfort right here adaptive content content oh the content of my tongue is Twisted at the moment you can also see vehicle status if you need to go in and look at different bits of information depend depending on what you need to know about with your vehicle and we'll go right here and see that again there are quite a few features a lot of functionality a lot of things you can go through and learn about with your vehicle changes you can make a lot going on here here's the thing this may look a little challenging for people who may not have ever had this kind of technology in your vehicle before don't let it scare you off that's one thing I can say about it it's modern it looks great but the thing about it is that it's still very easy to learn and to use and one thing I wanted to show you right here owner's manual it's pretty easy to figure out what is here as far as all of this goes but the thing is let's go over here to operating temp tips and we'll go right here and open this you actually have an animated video with a voiceover personal in which equipment is installed in the vehicle now I'm not going to spend too much time on that but as you can see there's a lot going on there and let's go into reverse I will show you what you have as far as your camera views go you do have the overhead view right there we have quite a few different options here where everything is concerned as you can see we can even go here that's going to be our rear view camera and then you have a couple of different things here if you're going into a car wash and there's nobody there to direct you in well guess what that will be no problem to be lined up if you need to do that there that is a lot going on here it's really very simple but that's not all that I wanted to show you and a nice little treat for you here as I mentioned earlier I was going to show you everything here as best as we can in the delivery room here at ore BMW there is a head up display as you can see here's the projection right here for that a little hard to see but I did want to show you some of the ambient lighting and you can go in and change that we were looking at that X5 with all of those arrows here earlier the logo right there well if you want to change this all you're going to do is go to interior lighting right here and you can make changes we'll go right here to Ambiance we can change our our color very easily let's just see what happens if we change it there those darker colors tend to show up a little bit better but let's just see what else we have as far as that goes let's see we'll go down here and see let's go to a different color here we go now that shows up really well I don't know if it's showing up on the screen with the GoPro as well as it is to my eyes but you can also see that here on the screen and then you can see some of the changes you can make there are multiple different colors as far as that goes and then you can also go in here and make changes that's maxed out that's maxed out you can make quite a few little changes lighting events is here as well depending on what you want to do you can turn things on and off but it really shows up quite well probably look a little bit better if it was a little darker but that's the best we can do it for today so I just wanted to give you a nice sampling and now that we've taken a quick look at the 2024 BMW X5 we've looked at the changes tell me what you think is it better than ever I'm always curious to receive your feedback down in the
