if the roar of high horsepower is the calling card of the mra's championship dirt drags the name of the game is getting the power to stick to the ground 2021 was a record-breaking year in several classes but one round into 2022 the champions of last season may be sweating the mississippi heat [Music] so [Music] welcome to the legendary dt's dirt drags in gore springs mississippi where we're about to begin the second week of mra championship racing in the open class the boy from right here at home took the first win of the season out in prague oklahoma and he did so with what normally would have been a track record but with a slight downgrade in that track that wasn't the case he's here to redeem that and he does so with the help of an eric bidlak racing chassis we will also have the mods and the outlaw class but with more of what's going on in the open class we're going to send it over to our own doc riley one of the great things about mra racing is you can go anywhere in the united states and find a pretty good track that's got some pretty darn good horsepower attached to it and there's not many times when you're racing you'll be able to go from well near your house so to speak that's the case here with the harrison racing team how far are you away from home three mile three miles that may be a record right there well just tell me a little bit about uh that trip about to oklahoma uh we had a real good trip uh well until the end but i got first and both places our ops truck got second then we bumped it up to mod and was doing pretty good so it caught on fire glass for past first but do you know what caused that fire we had a niger's backfire and it uh evidently burned a fuel line or broke a fuel line and then it just poured fuel on the motor yeah once it once it starts it can go south pretty quick nobody got hurt that's the main thing it can be repaired any pressure pulling so close to home yes always is i won here last year one time but that's the first time in three years of racing here that i've won it's always been something here it seems like when you're always trying hardest to win here and i finally pulled it off one time last year well you should be congratulated because there's an awful lot of pressure that can go with being so close to home what do you look forward to this weekend right here after the trip to oklahoma oh just hopefully we can get down the track and you know make some good passes that's that's the goal have you picked this guy's brain to find out exactly what you need to do at this track we've talked about a little bit what's your what's your secret to this track uh i really don't have a secret we're just gonna we're gonna try to throw a little more horsepower to it and see if it'll take it it may take it it may not that's you got to find that fine line of what it will take and what it won't take and it is some fast cars here tonight steve he's our way from canada i mean his folks from all over the fastest cars are gonna be here well that's one of the hallmarks of mra racing is the fact close competition no matter where you go anywhere in this great usa thanks dot taking a look at the points coming into gore springs mississippi kevin harrison of course up on top 170 points to joel coolidge with 145 billy fling last year's champion with 130 points down in third david hahn and mark riggin rounding out the top five in the modified paddle class it's shane o'roughy he'll be pulling double duty here tonight with 155 points up on greg booker who normally runs in the lps class jesse brown as well joel coolidge was yet to run his modified car and david carrera down in the number five spot jason chia leads the charge in the outlaw pro stocks followed by will harrison who is out after that massive fire down in oklahoma greg martinez whose car will be represented by shane o'roughey tonight greg booker cliff moore rounding out the field as we get ready for the ops class we showed you the points there they are going to start the night off and you see the bright orange chevrolet on the starting line that is loose cannon out of the volunteer state jesse brown out of waverly tennessee 715 cubic inch big block chevrolet cone by rocky brown and he's going to go side by side with another big block chevy disturbed out of gar colorado man came a long way rocky merritt sponsored by rdm construction getting ready to lay down the opening two runs brown in the left lane to the right of your screen and merit in the right lane to the left of your screen looking nice and straight setting the base at a 2.8295 merit i can guarantee you right now is going to be looking for a little more speed in session number two again off the start you can see brown clearly with the whole shot remember though they're racing the clock as uh rodney merritt probably not happy with the run he just laid down well some people you know i've got just uh one guy in the class he's three miles away from home but how long did it take you to get here 21 hours just tell me about that run uh you know it's pretty good uh probably a little slower than we would like we're probably gonna have to adjust our jets and change things a little bit to make it a little faster next time what was the starting line like i was good everything was fine you know just hitting everything right you know it's what it is more or less well you know that's that's half the battle right there is not over correcting anything but making sure you got it right oh man no mistakes always well i don't think any mental mistakes you know yeah well yeah after the rides you took it probably gonna happen best of luck next round oh you bet thank you very much sir good to see rodney maintaining the optimism after having a few problems during session number one jesse brown good straight pass closing in on a 283 at a 282-9 he is standing by now with doc riley well the old loose cannon looked like a pretty straight pass just your thoughts on that pass yeah it went pretty straight it yeah i don't know we've been having some trouble getting the motor to turn up but i think we've got a little bit of that figured out but we we'll see i hadn't got a chance to pull the data on it yet but when we get it figured out hopefully it wouldn't make some changes make it a little faster [Music] up next a pair of awesome broncos there you see shanel roge out of cleveland wisconsin his father scott getting him staged up there they'll be representing greg martinez that's greg's machine there out of the state of new mexico part of the uh navajo nation he's gonna go side by side with another machine the orogis had their hands in this is jason jaya's little crazy out of huevo wisconsin two awesome machines in the class jaya running a 788 cubic inch bishop ford hemi and ready to go side by side with shane olrogi driving greg martinez's screen wheels up for jaya at a 2608 shane o'rourke at a 2-7 i can guarantee you right now he's not going to be happy with that time he's going to be taking that machine back to the pits and looking for a little more out of it you can see again out of the hole jason shaya with the front end in the air set it back down pretty quick i'm gonna be trying to figure out how to change the performance of that machine before the uh next session probably can get a little more speed out of it they're all trying to figure out how to hook up on this uh track that's got a hard pack bottom we'll see if he can hang on in there in a little crazy well wheel's up man tell me about that pass it left a little harder than i expected it unloaded hard it costed some time i think but it was a good pass i'm happy with it yeah it really did get a little bite in the front and came up but it came down pretty quick too yeah yeah it came down but i spun a tire pretty hard at that point and it slowed me down but it was fun a lot of fun so what do we do next round we're gonna tame it down a little bit and just hope to get get out a little straighter says he had fun but his heart was stopping during that interview i can guarantee you that jason jaya getting a little crazy we're not done yet though the mods are coming up when we come back to gore springs this back channel productions program is brought to you in part by monsters monthly for up-to-date info media and all your other monster truck needs visit monstersmonthly.com and by crush this for a look inside the world of monster trucks check out crush this a monster truck podcast [Music] [Music] oh this back channel productions program is brought to you in part by rpm army for a wide array of content from across the motorsports world visit rpmarmy.com your high performance fix on the go fans relaxing tailgating and the mississippi heat here at dt's dirt drags with the mra 2022 championship dirt drag series getting ready for our next class to hit the track the modified class the nitrous injected cars and here comes a legend ron don savage one of the pioneers of the modified class at 11 and tennessee helped push this class forward he was a fixture for a long time out in indy when they ran the class four dirt drags out there uh unfortunately that class is no more but he gets to compete here with the mra and now shane o'roughey who i said was pulling double duty coming out now in deranged with a 760 cubic inch goodwin competition efi race engine going up against dunn savage now we will see the crafty veteran can knock out the second generation driver not knockout but better his time again they are running the clock not each other as they stage on the bro tree telling you right now orogee is not happy with his performance in either class right now that vehicle definitely has more in it it's a record center for sure but he was taking on one of the best in the other lane as uh they went on the clock gun savage again second through the traps but with the quicker of those two times doc riley is headed down right now to get a word with shane o'rourkey well a guy doing double duty here man uh kind of let's let's take things in order how was that pass it was pretty good it laid over a little bit on the big end which isn't normal so we're gonna get to work figure it out what would cause that not sure gotta get the data look you know it's all about the data now isn't it you know back when the uh back when the other guy with this team were in the red shirt right here you know the old man yeah they didn't have that data stuff nope this red spark plugs and that was it that was it yes scene of the pants they call it yup yup best luck next round thank you good eye on doc riley there was no socket wrench in that left hand it was a usb cable as uh a legend now rolling into stage this is keith mitchell out of fredonia pennsylvania with a massive 960 cubic inch sunny's power plant in the back with a four-stage nitrous system capable of uh right around 3 100 horsepower at its best if you can get it to stick but i mentioned a moment ago this track has a hard pack bottom if you dig down too deep we'll blow the tires off and that's not what wants to do even with those big old paddles you can still spin the wheels if you don't have the setup just right but keith is one of the best coming off a win down at sanford north carolina at the gnarly nitrous shootout at the daryl jones memorial event let's see what keith can do as he's purging the nitrous running the single right now in session one of the modify [Music] chasing a 2-3-8 he does it a 2-3-7 with a .969 reaction time keith mitchell blowing down the track in the magician and he was shaking his head a little bit there at the end mitchell takes over he's gonna come out on top in this uh abbreviated uh car count field we've got here but look at him back firing out of the headers doc riley headed down there right now to talk with keith mitchell about that run we're getting right here quick with that keith mitchell man you're fasting that run it's uh i got some we got some improvement to do they pulled the motor down off the line we weren't sure how it was going to handle that track it pulled the motor so a little work there a little pop a little fat in the second stage so um we'll clean it up try to get a little better in the second pass is this any different than it was 30 years ago absolutely it's fast and fun fast and fun that's what it's all about he'll be coming back next round we'll see if he can get even more into that et department no usb cable in that left hand he's pulling spark plugs right now with that wrench he's up on top but uh it's amazing what these guys can uh figure out in a short amount of time less than three seconds and they've got all that going on in their head a two three seven for keith mitchell ron dunn savage with a two three eight and a two four three for shane o'rourke with the three cars in this class and believe it or not not a one of those three guys is happy with the run that they laid down it's gonna be a very interesting session too when we come back with the modifieds now the open class there is your points leader kevin harrison out of grenada mississippi talked to him at the top of the show and another guy who's coming off the wind down in sanford north carolina dale ellenberger and touch of madness formerly of gary reddick out of the state of pennsylvania dale's formerly out in the state of pennsylvania as is the car this awesome machine won the battlefield blown alcohol madness earlier in the spring of this year at the daryl jones memorial event he would love to carry that momentum on into this event but he's staging against eight fierce kevin harrison who's leading the points right now after some solid near record setters technically they were record-setting runs but as we mentioned with the downgrade of the tractor in oklahoma they did not count toward the record as you see a little nitrous purge there on the back of the blower to help cool the air going into uh the uh supercharger trying to get a little more uh boost out of it we'll see ellen burger and harrison in session one of the open class [Music] both of them all over the track and harrison has done some serious damage in the back of that car he will get the quicker those two runs but uh some definite problems over there in the left hand line both of them all over the place but harrison came out worse for wear as ellenberger rolls off the track at the top end right now be interested to see it pierce look how far to the right because both of them headed toward the guard rail doc riley headed down into the harrison racing pits to find out what happened well kevin tell us about that pass all right wasn't too good it broke the blower belt and i don't know what i left yet so we gotta see what we can come up with and try to get it ready for the next round it was amazing he still has a smile on his face now watch dale ellenberger furthest from the camera he's gonna start moving over toward the guardrail had to pedal that thing to straighten it out i'm not sure what happened there but uh luckily did not make contact with that center rail how was the starting line uh starting line was fine but then the nitrous come on it uh it kind of got away from me so we went to the left we let out of it and it it's better than hitting the wall yeah it really is and it's something you can kind of look at and prepare for for the next round yeah yeah we're going to turn the nitrous off and try it again you step on the throttle it's unbelievable how calm these guys are after a run like that here comes a guy who gets the award for traveling the furthest to get here 24 24-plus hour drive all the way down from hurricane ontario north of the us canada border it's crew chief gary baker those of you who are familiar with the sport of mud racing know that he's going to stage alongside the defending champ billy fling flinging reality check the frantic car over there the black rear engine rail of the steve renault out of canada 526 cubic inch 481 x prepared by atchison machine service out of london ontario inside the racing of the dirt chassis these guys have a lot of equipment on this grounds here today he's gonna go up against as i said billy fling out of sunbury ontario he and his brothers dale and steve and their buddy dan sutter field that front engine rail with the 581 cubic inch hemi built by brasket race cars the chassis see what these two can do as they wait on green fling through the traps first but look at the time for renault 2.217 what a ride for the canadian frantic taking the number one spot look at billy put both of those beautiful passes solid pair of runs probably the two most well-balanced cars so far here in competition as another racing in the dirt chassis stages up on the starting line very similarly prepared car to the frantic machine but with a very different power plant 500 cubic inch allen johnson performance engine in the back of the minnesota-based nightmare six that's joel cool is his son tyler spraying the de-icer on the front of the intake for the supercharger keep that thing from hanging open we'll see what joel can do tyler will be driving this car in the paddle tire class tomorrow evening see if joel can better that 2.21 we just saw from steve renault the man from minnesota looking good look at the horns of the big blower motor blowing high foolish laying down a shot doc riley headed down to talk to joel well that run looked pretty good from right here what are you what's your thought it felt good it was nice and straight and it went good what about the uh starting line anything there good good lunch yeah it was a good launch felt good have you ever been here before oh yeah this is our third or fourth year good luck in the next round all right thank you man a few words let's his right foot do the talking here we see the standings right now after session one renault with that two two one joel coolidge with a 2-2-5 and a 2-2-6 from billy fling then you see harrison and ellenberger in fourth and fifth with should have been two of the fastest guys here for sure but again with a low car count it's hard to get a beat on exactly where these guys would stand if we had a full class but uh with parts shortages this year we have a bunch of cars that were slated to be here that have not yet shown up cannot wait till we see the rest of those guys show up later in the season but they're all going to be chasing the canadian we're not done yet though more action coming the ops class when we come back to your springs mississippi stay with us ah [Music] [Music] welcome back to the legendary dt's dirt drags here on a hot summer evening in gore springs mississippi a little track grooming going on before we get back to the ops cars and a lot of work going on in the pits there you see shane o'roughey downloading some data gonna try to get that mod running a little better his father and their crewman over there working on greg martinez's vehicle to try to get it back on top of the class get greg some points while greg is recovering from back surgery and speaking of scott o'rourke the man himself there you see packing the chute a little earlier in the day on the deranged car well he's the owner of the racing in the dirt shop up in wisconsin you're going to see this name around the sport a lot not only do they build chassis but they cut tires it doesn't matter what kind of drag racing you're in there's one thing that every car has to have and that's a set of tires but every single tire no matter what discipline of racing you're looking at is different and that's no different here in mud racing or in dirt track racing i'll tell you one thing this didn't start off like this did it there's a there's an awful lot of work that goes in from a perfectly good tire into an even better mud tire the rules require that it has the one class that has to be a dot-approved tire and you can make any modifications and to it as you want so then we take a dot and and there's different types of tires we'll use and the boggers one of the most popular ones and we'll take it and get them lighter and more aggressive what about tire cutting what does that actually mean i've always said strong arm weak mind but it's it's a science it's uh you know just practice you know you look at drag racing it's a slick obviously but there's a lot that goes into that you've got to be able to have traction but you can't have over traction you can't have under traction so there really is a lot to a tire there really is it you have to have that fine balance of getting a lot of aggression out of the tire and yet it doesn't flex and fold over sometimes new tires are the right for the track sometimes old tires are great for the track and we kind of find that balance we've been doing this for 15 years and we got a handle on it let's go through the tires what what class would this be used specifically well this is a dot cut approved class um these 35 14s here are typically used uh a lot in this area um in in in south texas all over the country i shouldn't say that but strongly in like this area hard pack guys that are not as big a horsepower and and then it comes down to that it comes down to leverage what about that little bad boy down there that's a very light tire also uh more of the sand racers use them and and such and that tires also cut and the big boys down here the 244s on the lower there are very common tire in it's just the tired it's the tallest tire that we can use legally we can use up to a 45-inch tire dot approved and that's the tire we go with so really depending on the application that you use and probably more important maybe even geographically because dirt's not the same all over the united states that is very correct uh there's areas where you which we know being doing this this long we know who uses what what areas you know somebody calls me up and says you know and i'll ask them what kind of horsepower are you making what kind of the weight of the truck and we can kind of set them up on a tire and then it comes down to what you can afford to there's guys that you know these these bottom tires are over a thousand dollars cut and they'll run them for years you know and and actually we prefer an older tire especially on a harder track absolutely so we see that it's about durability and it's about the things that you can kind of make happen here with a set of tires depending on where you live or the use again is one of those things you kind of have to think about when you're ordering a set of tires but again going from a to b no matter what the discipline is you kind of got to start with a good set of rubber [Music] we'll see if they can use those cut tires to get the horsepower into this loan jason chia was able to do so maybe a little bit too much horsepower as he carried the front end and on the other side of course shane o'rougey of the racing in the dirt shop looking to get a little more horsepower to the ground we'll see if he can do that as again he's driving greg martinez's vehicle gonna try to speed it up and get greg a few more points on the season he talked to doc riley before the session started well the driver was doing double duty this weekend this uh this vehicle right here is a customer's car isn't it yes sir it's greg martinez and uh his son carlos they run this uh was a jeep last year we switched over to a bronco all efi now it used to be carbureted i'm just trying to shake it in for him because he had back surgery last month and uh he's about to get back in a couple weeks how tough was it to get in the vehicle that you're not used to driving i'm not bad i got a lot of seat time in cars so it's it don't bother me too much uh just trying to do the best i can for them well we'll see if he can pick up a little e.t on jason chaya they're all chasing chaya right now ran a 2-6-0-8-2 in session number one pair of black and green broncos on the line o'rourkey looking for a little bit more as we get into session two it's about to get underway now blasting out of the hole still having some problems with two six nine and look at that at for jason he speeds up looking real good here in the little crazy bronco look at him carry the front end again quite a bit but he will cement himself even more so into the number one spot as uh we get ready to bring our final pair out as we reverse the order in the class when we move to session two there's rodney merritt out of colorado in the uh sonoma with the chevy s10 grill on it that's disturbed chevy big block there going against the 715 cubic inch chevrolet of jesse brown out of the volunteer state jesse laid down the fast time early was knocked down by jason chaya so we'll see what he's able to do he's uh sitting on a 2.8295 second run so he is currently in third place let's see what he can do here in session two rodney merritt looking for a little bit more e.t or a little better e.t right now but merit was skating around in the staging area i think he dug down the bot the starting line might be going away at a three three four two eight four for brown so he won't better his own time as uh we will take a look at how it shakes down there you see jason up top with a 2.603 greg martinez is uh scream brock over two six nine five a two eight two for jesse brown and rodney here with a three three four well i tell you what it's gotta feel pretty good to walk away with a win yeah it turned out real nice we made another good pass and we're able to stay in first place and uh it's two in a row now so it's a good start to the year and uh i see you're not you're not frantically working anything so everything must have been buttoned up and in good shape bob bes racing engines a great job on the engine great horsepower our transmission guy uh automatic transmission design did a great job on that we're holding together really well you know and everybody at racing the dirt getting us all the parts it's uh without him we couldn't do this so it's working out real well ladies and gentlemen takes home the win a perfect two for two but again we'll find out what the future holds but right now this is the tight package in the right combination to take home a victory a little more calm after that one there you see the points after uh this run here in gorge springs shaya with 265 up on top followed by martinez's machine with a 210 brown moving up into third place with that 180 will harrison getting knocked down and rodney merritt rounding out the top five we'll be back with the high horsepower modified stay with us [Music] [Applause] hey welcome to wild man adventures first the silver lake sand drag way there really wasn't any off-roading back then it was all off-road hey we're here with rich cummins hey we're here with mike potter hey we're here with all we gotta check it out [Music] this week we're gonna go down memory lane [Music] back in gore springs mississippi as we start to bring our knight to a close got to keep in mind as these guys head down the track they're running after a slew of locals they're actually running between two sections of about a 40 truck count field of local and regional guys who are running in basically a super stock class and they're keeping that dirt churned and that might actually be helping these guys as they go down the track but it could also be hurting them on the starting line because the starting line does seem like it's going away at least in the left lane right of your screen as keith mitchell rolls out for his second shot here in the modified paddle tire class we reverse the order we'll see what he can do with that massive power plant hey you know drag racing you know the name sunny leonard sunny uh unfortunately passed away a few years back but lives on certainly here in the form of the magician kcd chassis as you see mitchell purging the nitrous trying to get the pressure just right to get the right amount of boost to make the right amount of horsepower and not overdrive this thing let's see if he fixed his problems even though he's sitting on top if he fixed his problems from session one [Music] chasing his own two three seven two four [Music] beautiful run for mitchell and i think he may have roosted those kids on the starting line two two nine betters his own time and he made it harder on the two guys coming up behind him keith mitchell looking good in the magician keeping that name and the sunny's power plant name alive look at the flame out of the header a little material coming out there but a beautiful straight ride carrying the front end definitely looking to cement himself into that number one spot and here comes the legend ryan dunstavid at 11 in tennessee in the awesome color begone rear engine ramp well let's talk about that first round pass what do you think about that i really enjoyed it felt good we're going to try to put a little more gas to it try to go faster we need to how was the how was the launch pretty good right right it loaded the motor good like we kind of wanted it to and everything worked out good we just more power so how do you get more power more nitrous is it that simple well yeah we have three kits we only run one kit that passed so we're going to turn another one on just try to ease into it we don't want to blow the motor but no no no you don't want to do that that's not good but well good luck in the next round i appreciate that thank you all right well when ronnie talks about adding horsepower his eyes go from kind to insane he lines up against shane o'rourkey out of cleveland wisconsin let's see if they can both better that mark that uh mitchell just laid down not gonna do it gun savage with definite problems there o'rogi trying to uh better the time it's not gonna happen there you see the points after this session here this round two in gore springs mississippi shane's staying on top not quite the way he wants to do it that's greg booker jesse brown keith mitchell moving up into fourth and ron dunstan doc riley is down now what a difference a couple of passes make yeah no it felt way better i knew we had some issues on the first pass there was room for improvement we found it and uh man i loved it it was just what a difference yeah that first pass there were some flames coming out of the header hypes and everything else and it didn't sound quite up to speed but man when you launched it was like this is going to be a different ball game yeah no it was we uh we found the issue we were dealing with made a couple other small adjustments and yeah i just uh i felt it fell in my butt as soon as it left the line as soon as i left the line i knew everything was way we're working way better that's got to feel good man i mean early in the season and be able to have some great success congratulations i appreciate it it was a good way to finish today well i'll tell you there's a lot of people that make this happen from crew guys to sponsors that went out without these guys and the crew and uh you know sonny's sonny's with this big motor jim road helps us get it going all my guys you see here are just it's uh old way i guess it's all we know and we enjoy it and when you bring new things to the table it gives you new energy to keep it going and uh that's where we're at so and a win doesn't hurt either the win uh definitely gives you inspiration for the next week congratulations thanks doc not capping off the 30th edition of the 30th year the magician right here picks up yet another win and again in 30 years he's still got the smile 30 years still going strong keith can actually compete pretty easily and we've seen him do it before in the open class but seems to like it over there in the modified class with the nitrous down with the blower cars rolling out reverse the order here comes another racing in the dirt chassis tonight there's six talked about it earlier chasing that two two one of steve bernal another racing in the dirt machine see what bullets can do here in session two and you see that uh white towel that he had over the visor on his helmet that uh tyler just pulled off there they put a damp towel over the visor to keep the condensation down it's so hot out here their breath will turn that visor flight the second they put it down we'll see he can better that two two one don't think he's gonna do it and in fact he actually slowed down from his uh first session time which was a two to five so cool it's not getting quite what he was looking for he'll hang on in there in second place but he's not better grinnell out of canada in frantic another look at the run it was a good run car moving a little bit to the left and uh i think that slowed him down just a bit there's six looking good though nothing to be ashamed of here indoors ready for our uh first pairing of this session number two we talked about this machine this is frantic out of horn paint ontario steve bernal the crew chief nmro founder gary baker it's good to see him running around the pits earlier today he's going to stage side by side with billy fling the defending champ from 2021 in reality check this should be once again an awesome pairing billy fling thinks he can better the mark that steve renault set he's got the horsepower advantage with the big hemi over the 481 x but if renault can keep that tune he could have something here against billy fling you can feel that a beautiful pair of runs not gonna be enough but fling moves himself up into second place and he goes faster than renault on that run so the defending champ doing himself a big favor as renault right now does not really have the points to move on these guys so uh he's definitely uh gonna need as many wins as he can get and as many high finishes as he can get he's not done yet though he's certainly not out of the woods the canadian hanging on in there in first place but uh billy fling definitely knocking on the back door is dale ellenberger and uh your points leader kevin harrison roll out harrison trying to better his mark after some damage in that first session hopefully it was nothing that's going to hurt him here as he uh slung a blower belt in that first session didn't seem to be anything else dale ellenberger almost got into the guardrail neither one of them getting the time they wanted ellenberger trying to jump up out of fifth place on kevin harrison but this should be another awesome era run a final pairing of the night as they wait on green these two guys are cursed right now ellen burger well he'll move up into fourth place as harrison didn't even get a shot to defend he breaks down right there off the starting line so renault will hang on in there to take the victory from his session one run of the two two one seven billy fling in a 2-2-4-7 it's joel coolidge dale ellenberger and the points leader kevin harrison rounding out the field what a rough night look at that another blower you see it right there that's his son in the mississippi mafia had a big fire a couple weeks ago in oklahoma and man look at it didn't even make it to quarter track he swung another blower belt he may have done some more damage there dale ellenberger having to pedal it again and the front end came up and that means steve bernal is your champion here in gore springs he is with doc riley well congratulations nice effort right there a little bit of difference between the first round and the second round just tell me about that pass second round was uh we hopped it up a little bit and it didn't work we spun a little more out of the hole and uh that cost us well you know that's one of those situations you look at sometimes uh you can go the other direction but uh you know i was hoping we were hoping it would well there's a lot of hope in the race that isn't there there is congratulations man it's so so awesome we'll talk over here this is gary baker gary baker long time a mud racer both sanctioning body fabricator and everything else uh what do you have to say about this guy uh he's a heck of a driver he's he's smart and really knows uh how to set these things up he's really doing good and uh i just look for him keep getting faster and faster he likes picking on them hemis well and then once you get the combination right i mean you can it can be a happy car oh absolutely we're we're getting closer by the day well let's find out one thing how many hours did it take you to get here [Music] well over 24 hours 1400 miles and where's home horn payne ontario in canada horn payne ontario okay just up on top of michigan four hours into canada oh that's not so bad yeah that's not something like four hours i used to do that no in a weekend you bet you you betcha doc it's great seeing you again and for 30 years man you beat the path on this mud race and stuff and uh we've seen a lot together brother we have and it's good to see guys that come out here and continue continue to raise the bar and again just keep tweaking things a little bit congratulations man well thank you very much appreciate it thank you doc you bet you know that's one of the things you get that combination right you get some good people working behind you and you know the sky's the limit well on either side of steve renault you're looking at some history in mud racing at dirt drags there's a look at the point coming out of this open cut tire class here at gore springs kevin harrison remaining in the lead but joel cool is just moving up on him quick billy fling david hahn and then you see it's steve renault moving up sneaking onto the board with 95 points still early in the season he'll have another shot at it out in missouri what a night it's been we're not even close to done from hearing gore springs the next time we see you the opens put on the paddles the mods put on the cuts and the pro stocks abide by the law we'll see you next time [Music]
