foreign specifically this one is the 1.6 turbo mild hybrid with the four-wheel drive system and the seven-speed Dual clutch transmission normally at the start of one of these videos I go through all the different trims and all the different engines and all the different pricing but there's actually quite a lot to choose from when it comes to the Hyundai Tucson so I'm just going to pop it up on screen and show you exactly what I'm talking about now the range starts from about 29 grand for the SE connect model and that does include some of the things that you might want in a car like this such as the two 10.25 inch screens which have a nice matte finish to them as well and that's standard across the range which is really nice and refreshing but a lot of the other features aren't standard the absolute top of the range one is the ultimate which starts at around 40 Grand and you can step it right up to about 44. personally whichever model you go for I would go for the technology package which is about 1200 quid it's an optional extra and one of the only optional extras that you can get on this and that includes things like the blind spot monitoring system the cameras that come up in the dials in front of you and also the loads eye view camera which includes parking cameras for your wheels as well which I think were an exceptional feature when I tried the Kia sports hard with the same system if you want one that looks the part you want to go for an end line and the inline s is the one that has kind of The Best of Both Worlds in terms of features my personal pick of the range when it comes to drivetrain would be the 1.6 turbo 230 hybrid electric vehicle because that's going to get you the best mix of performance and economy I've driven one of those and the electric motor that's included and it's a very similar system like a Toyota or it's a self-charging hybrid I got around 50 miles per gallon in that one and it was really quick off the line and a really nice experience overall not to say this one isn't but this one I've got here today is the 1.6 Turbo with the mild hybrid system so it's got an electric motor that only assists the engine it doesn't actually drive the wheels in any way the beauty of that is this model is available with four wheel drive which the hybrid version isn't you have to get either a plug-in hybrid or this mild hybrids to get four-wheel drive but personally I think for your daily driver the hybrid version is going to be the best bet this particular one it's okay it's brisk off the line it's definitely got a nice kind of nippiness to it around town but I think it sounds quite Gruff when you get out on the highway so I'm on a kind of a 60 mile an hour limit road now if I put my foot down yeah it just sounds a little bit strained at these sort of speeds it still goes okay it's still got an okay amount of overtaking power but I definitely prefer the feel of the hybrid version especially as it takes off with that electric motor around town and of course the option is there for the plug-in hybrid which can get silly economy if you keep it charged up and just whiz around town on pure electric alone but for me I prefer the stability of the hybrids because then you don't have to worry about plugging it in you don't have to worry about any of the electric stuff it literally just does it all on its own and all you need to do is worry about filling it up and getting great economy and you still get that electric motor to be used off the line these are all exactly the same as what you find in the Kia Sportage anyway it's the same platform same engine same gearbox in this one I've got a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox which is quite nice it's pretty good around town surprisingly so for a dual clutch transmission and on the Fly the gear changes are nice and quick although there are no paddles on this model to change myself I can do it sequentially on the gear selector down here which is quite nice but I don't really feel the need to do that it's not really a sporty car per se and the six-speed automatic transmission that comes in the normal hybrid is quite good as well it's obvious to see more sluggish to change gear but it's definitely more suited to that hybrid and I found it to be perfectly acceptable for day-to-day driving so let's talk about the car itself then styling Wise It's really grown on me when it first came out I really wasn't sure it's got a bit of a strange look to it at the front I think this color really suits it which definitely helps and The Styling features are really good especially down the side I really love all the lines down the side they just went absolutely crazy with the pencil in the design room and just said yeah whack it into production that's absolutely fine and I'm glad they did because it really looks wild and I'm really enjoying that it definitely looks a lot more bold than the Kia Sportage even though I think the Kia Sportage is a little bit more Butch perhaps this one even though it's got that kind of more curvy body shape to it especially the front and rear I think overall the design elements are more interesting the thing that everyone loves is the LED light so you've got the full LED lights front and rear they look really cool at the front with the kind of staggered design and you've got the LED indicators up the front as well at the back I really like the design as well you've got a light bar that runs all the way across and almost that kind of Crash diamond effects that you see on the E-class Coupe the only thing I really don't like about it is the indicators on the rear are right down near the bottom of the car I think they could have been integrated into the rear lights and it would have made it look a lot better in my opinion but overall I think in inline trim this does look very good and it's quite a common sight on the UK roads now I see much more of these in the Kia Sportage so maybe that says a lot about what people prefer the look of a lot of people who I've spoken to say they prefer the look of this in the Kia what I do like though is that it couldn't be any more different to the Kia in terms of styling and that goes for both the inside and the outside step into here and it's a totally different place to win the Kia of course the infotainment screens are pretty much the same right in the gear you do get a few extra inches and I think that this is somewhere where size does matter to be honest with you you do really notice the difference when it comes to those screens especially the one in front of me here it just looks a little bit too small for the size of the cabin but they are very clear the resolution is really good you've got all the info that you need on there of course you've got Apple carplay Android all type of standard across the range and the touchscreen does work really well it's really fluid really responsive as in all of these Kia Hyundai products you've also got the quality of life features like the driver profiles which you can change when you get in the car which set up the car completely differently if you've got two people that drive it regularly and you've also got the buttons that are programmable on the steering wheel like the star button and the star button on the dash which you can put to shortcuts of things that you're going to use frequently so that's customizable and that's a really nice touch as well you've also got the quiet mode which limits the volume and only activates the front speakers so if you've got people asleep in the back they can be left alone in peace and I know it's a silly thing as well but I always go on about when you turn the wipers on or the lights it reflects what you do on the screen in front of you you're not just guessing what you're pressing it always comes up with something to show you that you've done it so practicality is always a really strong point in these cars from Kia and Hyundai and that's why I really enjoy them as daily drivers in terms of the actual design in here I do like the dash layout it's quite nice and the materials are all decent as well I quite like the sort of standard gear selector even though obviously there are cars that come now with the dials and buttons and that kind of thing and I like the fact that down here I've got the diff lock and the drive mode toggle you've got uh Hill descent assist as well which is really cool you've got the parking sensor button and you've got the camera button and all that so there's quite a lot of stuff available easy to hand including your heated seats heated steering wheel controls as well so that's all quite good I feel like I can get the seat in position just right as well these seats have like a sort of Alcantara suede material to them which are really nice they're just comfortable enough and they've also got a little bit of Lumbar adjustment this one's manual adjustable which is a little bit disappointing to be honest at this price but it's still you can get great driving position in it and I can rest my elbows nicely both sides and get a nice grip of the steering wheel steering wheel is really nice as well I quite like the design of it and I love the physical buttons and toggles which you get on these and also the materials are just right as well there's a bit of perforated leather but it feels really nice in the hand and it's a nice thickness on weight as well I like the way the dash is kind of angled slightly towards the driver it's also got this kind of jlr vibe about it it looks similar to what you get in a Jag SUV or something like an entry level Range Rover or something like that in terms of how the screens are laid out but the thing that I really dislike and I've got to be completely honest about this is the climate controls I think the screen just looks tacked on it's a really low quality display with not much information on it at all and everything is touch everything and it's all gloss black so it's covered in fingerprints and dust all the time it reflects everything that comes in through the window and is incredibly frustrating to use whilst on the Move I've you know I'm sure you'd probably nearly crash it several times just trying to adjust the temperature it's really that frustrating but not that you'd probably be able to crash it anyway because there's so much safety kit on this thing that it pretty much prevents you from having an accident of course you've got that radar assist at the front which is Crash prevention but you've also got Lane keeper assist with that amazing one button thing on the steering wheel that will just steer for you in line on the motorway but the beauty of that is it will warn you if you're strained from your lane with an audible tone and it'll also vibrate the steering wheel with haptic feedback and it will steer for you to get back in Lane the blind spot monitoring does the same thing even though this particular model I'm driving today doesn't have the cameras on the dash it's still got blind spot monitoring on the mirrors which is really good it flashes up when it comes when someone comes into that spot and also it will alert you again and steer you back into Lane if it thinks you're going to crash into someone that you're pulling out on the only time it can get a little bit frustrating is when it beeps at you constantly when you're straying over lines and stuff like that if you have to kind of stray over a line to overtake something if something's parked up at the side of the road or something like that sometimes it tries to kind of see you back into Lane which can be a little bit frustrating and disconcerting but you soon get used to it and there is some manual control over these systems as well overall it's an incredibly safe car which is a really big selling point for when you have a family and it brings the insurance group right down too but aside from that climate control I am pretty happy with this interior you've got USBS you've got 180 what 12 volt socket down there and a wireless charger for your phone Everything feels quite nice always the switch gear feels quite decent in these cars now you've got all of the physical controls on the steering wheel which are really lovely to use and the display in front of you gives you just enough information without getting in the way with maps and stuff like that of course you don't have the sort of maps and things that you get in the Volkswagen Audi group cars but it does have a nice display on it which changes based on the drive mode that you're in and it gives you enough information I feel and the maps are really good in this as well although I don't bother using them because I just use apple carplay which looks excellent on this really wide screen here and of course being a high Honda Ikea product everything works flawlessly all the infotainment is really sharp Snappy it just works all the time which I absolutely love a lot of other cars I get in it crashes or it's laggy all the animations don't look right or whatever in these even though it's not the prettiest system in the world it gets the job done every single time cabin space overall is good and there's plenty of room in the back for even adults so I'm six foot I can sit behind myself with loads of leg room and Headroom to spare which is really you've got the middle seat belt built into the roof which keeps it out of the way like in the Sportage and again like in the Sportage you've got the adjustable rear seats where they have like a slight recline which you can adjust how far they go forward and back there's another zone for the climate control back there some chargers for your phone some cup holders and other niceties that you might need there is a transmission tunnel of course because this isn't an EV but it's not too bad I would just say that you probably can't fit a third adult comfortably in the middle seat for too long of a journey you've got your isofix points for the kitty seats back there and then you've got a cavernous boot as with all of these cars there's not much underfloor storage although there is a few Cubbies but you've got some nice 180 watt charge points back there you've also got some hooks that you might need to tie stuff down you've got a nice retractable load cover overall it's really good and really practical there's no load lip either so you can slide things in and out nice and easily overall it's ideal and this model has an electric tailgate I like the red stitching in here as well it just brings a little splash of color even though it is quite a dark interior it's really helped with this massive massive electric panoramic roof which isn't actually an option would you believe I'm really happy to report that this is standard on the inline s and the ultimate Trims and that's what I really love about Hyundai and Kia as well is that they started putting these things just into trim levels and there's not much in the way of optional extras it's really worth having it doesn't really take away from the Headroom in the cabin and actually it really creates a nice atmosphere in here with so much light coming in it doesn't add too much road noise I don't feel and also it's got a nice tilt and Telescope action visibility I'm glad to report is quite good as well the Bonnet isn't too long which is nice and the wing mirrors are massive which I love in a car like this you can see absolutely everything out of the side the view out the back not so good but to be honest you've got a reversing camera which has a decent Clarity to it obviously if you go for the tech pack you've got even more cameras as well and overall I think you can see enough out of the mirrors to kind of get over the fact that you can't see much in the rear quarter and obviously the blind spot monitoring is really good as well so you don't need to panic too much about the visibility so overall I think really good marks for the interior practicality and day-to-day stuff really good as always from Hyundai and it has enough in here in terms of quality to keep most people happy at this price point the only thing I would say is I just prefer the design of the Kia a little bit better I think the wrap around screens which are slightly larger are a little bit nicer I think the climate controls are a lot less fussy and frustrating especially as they've got two physical dials and I just think the overall Ambience is a little bit nicer it's a nicer place to see it but that's just me I think it's down to personal preference to be honest so how does it drive then well as you'd expect very much the same as the Kia that I reviewed before as I say this particular one has the four wheel drive system which does the trick when you're doing a bit of light off-roading especially as you've got a manual diff lock and Hill descent control which is really cool in a car like this but also it does break traction off the line a little bit which is a little bit disappointing it's clearly not been designed to be launched it's been designed to be more useful in more rural areas and this particular engine whilst it's brisk off the line and it's nippy around town it does struggle a bit and feel a bit Gruff on the motorway it's not the end of the world like it does still perform just fine for a family car but it's not going to blow you away and I really think it's worth spending the extra money to go for the proper hybrid because the hybrid the self-charging version is going to get much better economy probably 50 to 55 mile per gallon versus the 35 I've been getting in this one plus it's more brisk off the line and smoother around town as well but performance is all right steering is nice and light but still kind of has a nice weight to it when you're going around town it doesn't feel too sloppy let's give it some beans here we're up to the Limit quite quickly but as you can hear it does sound a little bit strained in this particular car well I have been pleasantly surprised by how refined it feels around town when it comes to low RPM stuff and coming across the line or just sitting either in it does feel quite smooth this engine I think in terms of how it rides it's quite decent as well you've got multi-link rear suspension it feels quite compliant when you're just doing day-to-day stuff and even cornering through the bends it feels like you know where the car is being placed at all times steering is also quite nice and direct as well like it's very responsive when you kind of just throw it in there is a bit of body roll but you can kind of feel what the car is doing at all times it feels quite confidence inspiring which is nice in a car like this um obviously it's not a track car you're not going to be throwing it around too much anyway so you don't need to worry too much about that I think for what it is it feels nice the Turning circle is really good um and you just you just know what the car is doing it never feels like it's going to break loose on you which is always reassuring something I do really like as well with this powertrain is that it goes into like a coasting mode it switches the engine off when you're driving along and it comes up with a little picture of a boat and it says sailing I already find that fun I must say this is definitely a little bit softer than a Kia Sportage but I think you'd only really notice it if you drove them back to back even going over some quite harsh bumps here the calf it was very stable I'm really impressed with how subtly this thing moves off especially because it's a dual clutch I always find sometimes dual clutches can be a little bit jolty in traffic but this one has been paired really nicely and it feels like you can set off really smoothly definitely not as good as in the full hybrid because that uses the electric motors to set off but this is really impressive for a kind of a base petrol you can also get this with a manual transmission in the base model but I probably wouldn't go for that one to be honest with you I think you're better off with either a dual clutch or going for the hybrids right the question would I have this or would I have a Kia Sportage to be honest with you it's like choosing between jam and marmalade in the morning I don't know yeah what do you fancy I think personally The Styling on this one is going on me a little bit more but it's a big butt the interior on the Kia I think is a nicer place to be especially the climate controls I just think they're better with the the physical dials and it's just designed a little bit nicer I also think that the infotainment screens are nicer on the small Taj you tend to get a slightly better deal from what I've seen they're priced very very similarly but the small tires tends to come out just that little bit cheaper for the amount of equipment that you get and the warranty is a slight difference as well so they are both industry leading don't get me wrong so on this with the Hyundai you get a five-year warranty unlimited mileage which is excellent on the key you get seven years up to a hundred thousand miles most people don't keep their cars for that long anyway so again it's much of a muchness just just just spin the wheel roll the dice I don't know which one do you prefer the look of I just personally think the most important thing is to get the drivetrain choice right and if you can afford it I would say go for the normal hybrid version unless you know that you're going to be plugging it in overnight then a plug-in hybrid might be for you but I don't think the standard model with 150 horsepower or this 180 horsepower mild hybrid version is the one to go for if you're putting your money in other cars to go for I think probably a Peugeot 5008 is another one to look at in this sort of segment because I really like the Interiors of the peugeot's I think you get a lot of quirks and features for your money so that might be worth looking at as well but yeah I think with anything Honda and Kia you really can't go wrong as a daily driver it's just a nice place to be there's loads of quality of life features and although it's not the most interesting choice in the world it's going to be safe for your family you're going to have everything in it that you need and all of the tech is exceptional and works really well go for that Tech package if budget allows because that gives you all the nice fancy cameras which make living with this thing a lot easier and it's definitely something you can show off to your pals but overall I don't think you could go wrong with a Tucson or a Sportage now remember if you're looking to purchase one of these pre-owned I've Got a Car vertical link for cart history checks below which gets you 10 off and I've also got my lease local affiliate Link in the description below as well which will show you the best lease deals on these brand new and there are quite a few deals out there or if you're looking for my Kia Sportage review I've got that on the channel as well and that includes the review of the Hybrid drivetrain which I much prefer maybe go and try out both maybe just see what you fancy personally my money would go on the Kia but that's just me I don't think I would be too ungrateful if someone handed the keys to one of these to me any day of the week either they're both exceptional cars as your daily driver especially if you've got a family so thanks again guys for watching thank you so much to Hyundai for sending me out the car I hope to work with them a lot more in the future and get some more cars to you guys thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you in the next one bye-bye [Music]
