and mrs almadores for inquiries investigations and immersion thank you teacher tyrone falcon school initially planned to conduct the online learning modality for the entire year however last july 11 2022 we were all made aware of the department of education order number 34 series of 2022 from the new education secretary sarah duterte announcing the department's stand to push through face-to-face classes nationwide by november 2. because of this directive all public and private schools are expected to use the time until october 31 to serve as the transition period and as this directive affects the initial plans of the school we have devised the best course of action to continue with the online classes starting from the period of the pre-opening activities until the second week of october and then transition into blended learning modality on the third week of october after this transition period five days of in-person classes will be enforced starting november 2 since the depart order states that no public in private schools shall conduct other modalities apart from in-person classes after october 31 however rest assured that the school will implement high standards when it comes to the school safety and health protocols to our parents you might ask what are the differences between these learning modalities mentioned online blended learning and face-to-face in an online learning modality we adapt the usual hybrid synchronous and asynchronous mode of learning synchronous learning pertains to the real-time interaction between teacher and students through conferences and live streaming lectures using our learning management system schoology and zoom meeting for conferences it could be in a form of an instant messaging as immediate feedback is given and schedules are followed similar to the face-to-face classes whereas in an asynchronous learning lesson is delivered and reinforced through different channels without real-time interaction schedule is self-paced through prepared activities or coursework streaming video content and virtual classroom activities flexibility of learning is much emphasized and fosters independence and a sense of responsibility by adhering to the deadlines of the given activities in a blended learning modality we refer to the practice of using both online and in-person teaching and learning experiences whereas in a face-to-face class instructional methods course content and learning activities are delivered in person since we will jump start the school year with online classes what happens on a typical online school day in falcon school first students log in via schoology and check the homeroom course where the link for the conference is posted after checking in they will first meet with their classmates and class advisor during the homeroom period for announcements updates routines such as morning prayer flag ceremony and other relevant class routines in between their respective virtual classes students take a 10-minute screen break so as to avoid screen dependency disorder then students attend their virtual class meetings following their class schedule wherein they participate in class discussions answer or respond to questions and activities and interact with their peers and teachers before they check out students confer with a class advisor by attending the homeroom period or scheduling special conferences with their teachers in case there are concerns and of course periods for snap break and lunch time are also allotted before students attend another class or before they are dismissed in the synchronous period after the synchronous sessions students move to synchronous period set in the afternoon they log in their schoology accounts to check if there are activities posted by the subject teachers and accomplish them in the set deadline there are also consultations done in the asynchronous periods in case some students need clarification about the discussion or have questions that need to be answered finally students are encouraged to log off and take a substantial amount of time for rest to prepare for the school days that will follow we are confident that in this kind of approach we will be able to fill in the learning gaps and make learning continue in today's context and prepare our students to transition smoothly to face-to-face classes one of the greatest trends we have had during the previous school year is a strong home and school collegial partnership to discuss the general roles and responsibilities of students and parents or guardians ladies and gentlemen the great school mapper coordinator mr jonathan mercado [Music] throughout the years we have established a strong partnership ever since we have been in a face-to-face setup until now that we shifted into the virtual classrooms [Music] in educational setting students parents teachers and administrators must collaborate in order for effective learning to take place parents teachers and administrators form the foundation of the school and have vital responsibilities they need to accomplish in order to ensure the students soar beyond expectations in light with a new normal the responsibilities of the stakeholders continuously adjust moreover students need all the support that they can get to effectively adapt to the structure of online or blended learning the following are the roles and responsibilities of the students one follow rules and procedures at all times two regularly attend classes and observe punctuality third internalize the importance of time management number four show responsibility in both synchronous and asynchronous activities given by the teacher for our dear parents and guardians it is important to create a learning environment conducive to learning we fully understand that only learning is new to everyone the learners especially the younger ones can get restless and easily get distracted with a lot of things around them therefore it is very important for the parents to create a learning environment at home that will have a set of rules and regulations for them to follow this can be done by providing a stable internet connection second provide a quiet relevant elite place to enable the learner to focus a room or with a table in a chair is recommended third making sure that the learner follows the basic online learning policies number four encouraging student discipline at home especially when in sessions and number five ensuring that the needed gadgets and equipment needed for online classes conform to the requirement required specifications also parents and guardians are expected to assist the learner in both synchronous and asynchronous sessions we believe that one of the most significant factors to impact a learner's education in an online setup is the involvement of the parents or the guardians we also believe that online learning does not require the guardians or the parents to be home schoolers but a learning monitor or facilitator that will assist the learners in the following ways first monitoring if the learner is physically mentally and technically prepared before logging in second being updated with the day-to-day activities given to be done by the learners synchronously and asynchronously third being updated with a learner's progress through their parent account in schoology and number four following up and monitoring closely the task given by the subject teachers finally parents and guidance are encouraged to collaborate with the teachers by establishing an effective feedback system covering content behavior and engagement collaboration is the key to the success not only of the learners but also of the parents and the teachers it is vital for the parents to seek support from the school through phone email instant messages and parents schoology account that will help build a stronger collegial partnership between home and school in connection parents are encouraged to inform the school through the class advisors of conditions at home that may affect the behavior or disposition of the child in dealing with a particular subject for this school year parents will receive weekly feedback from the teachers especially those whose child has learning difficulties missed activities and requirements and other concerns and feedback in the form of a task monitoring sheet or we called the tms kindly check your email consistently to get feedback from the teachers and to ensure that the communication is complete the school is encouraging all the parents to acknowledge the task monitoring sheet set by the class advisors [Music] with your full cooperation and participation i am very sure that we will be able to address all our students learning needs and make their year productive and successful thank you teacher jonas we sincerely hope that we will be able to strengthen the lines of communication and the teamwork between the home and school even in an online setup now mr lance harvey saavedra grade 7 and 8 level supervisor and high school science coordinator will explain the general class structure for this school year [Music] thank you teacher then it is significant to understand the amount of time your child will spend in the online learning setup on your screen is the learning block time allotment that shows the amount of time spent in the synchronous periods the total number of minutes per learning block and the learning blocks are subjects taken by the student per day per day level [Music] for nursery in kinder one they will take two subjects or learning blocks per day with 35 minutes each per period kinder two on the other hand takes three subjects or learning blocks per day wait 35 minutes each period as well leads 1-5 takes each subject within a 35-minute time period but takes 4 subjects or learning blocks per day for grade 6 4 subjects per day within a 45-minute time period lastly for junior high school and senior high school students take four subjects or learning blocks per day within a 60 minute time period however grade 12 students take an additional learning block further work immersion in the second semester [Music] exclusive of the synchronous periods wherein the students do self-piece coursework at a certain period of time which is flexible the learning block structure presents the breakdown of the minutes in the series of activities for the synchronous sessions each day the first five minutes of every learning block is allotted for the daily classroom routines which include prayer setting the tone checking of attendance and class reminders the middle period covered is set for the lesson process and development which includes discussion demonstration giving of instructions and tasks and the conduct of engaging class activities the last five minutes of the period is allotted for close work where in the subject feature announces and gives instructions and tasks for asynchronous activities which will be done in the afternoon and provides a wrap up of the session this structure is the same for the other levels spot 35 minute learning block for nursery to bleed 5 45 minutes for grade 6 and a 60 minute learning block for high school to provide a learning environment that is close to the normal setup routines will be established to give the students a sense of normals in the virtual classroom the following are the provisions made in the virtual learning environment pre-opening activities before the opening of classes the class advisors will meet with the students and acquaint them with the routines and the school rules and regulations the students will also get to meet their classmates the class will also meet their subject teachers in the shortened meet ups in preparation for the actual classes for the schedule of our pre-opening activities as of today you have already conducted refresher courses for the returning students and parents those who weren't able to attend may be given access to the recordings of the sessions students will initially meet with their advisors on august 9 and 10 for the discussion of the school policies and general class orientation to provide a run of the class schedule preliminary class activities will run from august 11 12 and 15 to 17 respectively following their class schedule the students will meet with their subject teachers for some class preparations announcements and reminders in the different subject areas that the students will take in partnership with the guidance program of the school psychosocial wellness sessions for the students will be conducted on august 18 22 23 and 24 respectively a detailed schedule will follow finally regular classes will officially start on august 25 2020. after the first two weeks of classes the class advisor and the parents will initially meet for the first parent teacher conference scheduled on september 10 2022 class schedules specific class schedules will still be followed to organize student engagement in the synchronous and asynchronous sessions planned by the teachers included in the class schedules are the home room classroom and consultation periods screen breaks are also provided in between synchronous sessions to avoid screen dependency disorder which is a major health concern among children online learning platform check-in majority of the instruction activities and evaluation is done in the learning management system the students are given tasks and activities through the modules prepared by the subject teachers the modules include resources and the reference materials discussion guides enrichment activities and exit slips that aim to meet the given competencies in a quarter thank you for a comprehensive discussion of the general class structure teacher lance now miss maria fe ungi english and language coordinator in the elementary department will explain the components of the class schedule for this school year [Music] thank you teacher dan the class schedule entails various approaches to holistically develop the mind and the heart of every pulkonyan the following are the components of the daily schedule homeroom periods to set up the daily mood and to do other class routines the homeroom periods are provided to update the class of announcements reminders and other off-learning period discussions or interactions tinker news sessions plotted in the table as the subject areas the student logs into schoology to access conferences and meet with the teacher virtually using an in-app video conferencing platform zoom asynchronous sessions through varied activities such as entering book activities worksheets reading writing watching videos conducting experiments and doing hands-on activities out of the synchronous time students complete assigned tests posted or pre-assigned by the teacher consultation periods partnered with the asynchronous sessions students are given time to meet with the teacher by a conferencing or other means of communication to resolve matters that concern the subject or any other assistance that the teacher can offer snack or lunch break just like the regular reset and lunch time in an on-site learning the student moves away from the screen and takes any sort of learning routines at home with the supervision of an adult guardian or parent during breaks the students are encouraged to take a number of minutes away from the screen to minimize the risk of screen dependency disorder and eye strain and formation activities in light of circumstances that the pandemic brought self-care is of utmost importance the guidance program continues to assist in behavior modification and addressing the concerns that the child may have regular visits check-ins and schedule consultation or counseling sessions will be organized by the guidance facilitator with all these components working together we can assure you that the students are holistically developed despite the lack of opportunities to interact and physically meet thank you teacher maria faye we constantly develop and nurture young minds even when the setup has already changed falcon school still stays true to its goal to preserve the culture of excellence something that the school has already proven for so many years to discuss how students will be assessed and graded in this kind of setup let me call on the grade school filipino coordinator mr lunel lopez [Music] thank you teacher dan assessments engraving are significant in the learning process it gives the students vital information about their performance and progress as learners the forms types and design of assessments shall be suitable in the context of online learning since the current learning setup limits the pen and paper tests or on-site evaluation of student performance alternative and authentic assessments will be considered such as ora revalida and other performance-based assessments in falcon school we put premium importance the holistic development of each child and this also includes their character development starting at the fiscal level class advisors and subject teachers closely monitor the students behavior at the end of each quarter students are given the letter grades in the following areas of the school's institutional core values excellence through discipline integrity service to others and love for almighty god the evaluation code for the character development mark is as follows a for excellent which is equivalent to 97 to 100 b for very good we for good c plus for satisfactory on a range of 8.87 c for unsatisfactory equivalent to 75 to 83 and b for needs improvement which is the lowest mark equivalent to 74 and below however please take note that if a student incurs an interaction his or her department grade is automatically decreased such that the highest possible letter grade is sim for that quarter is b for a minor fans and c for a major offense in the context of online learning the students of falcon school and their scholastic achievement will be evaluated using a system of numbers the grades are computed as follows for the preschool level nursery to intervene students are graded 70 percent for the performance tasks and quizzes and 30 to work for the first quarter but for the remaining quarters this will be divided to 40 teacher mira social media has always been an integral part of the day society people have capitalized in its many features to establish ties share information impart important public announcements promote online businesses and products and express personal ideas and opinions its importance as a means of communication has been amplified by the current conditions brought about by the pandemic despite its useful features however people have also used social media in malicious ways making it imperative to periodically remind its users of the risks involved when using social media first on selecting friends on social media we would like to remind those in social media accounts to be selective in accepting friend requests from acquaintances it is important that we know the persons we are accepting friend requests from as we may inadvertently be giving access to our personal information we encourage those with social media accounts to unfriend such acquaintances if they cause undue stress or are the source of unsavory influences and ideas second on selecting and evaluating content on social media social media has been used to promote both legitimate businesses and products as well as scams the truth and fake news let's be critical of what we read in relation to this we would like to remind the school community of persons groups or associations that might use the name of the school or school authorities to promote projects seminars or the like under the pretext of a partnership the school will inform the community of such events and projects through its official facebook page or through an announcement posted in schoology lastly on posting on social media care should be observed by all when posting on social media irrelevant embarrassing disrespectful or fallacious post that may place you in an uncompromising position must be evaded when commenting or expressing opinion be wary of oversharing the tiny details we openly share might be used by others adversity or worse invade our privacy always keep in mind that posting to social media leaves an imprint we encourage everyone to be intentional about what and where you post more importantly not tarnishing the name and reputation of the school rest assured that the school utilizes the virtual classrooms as an avenue and a platform for the students to be open about their personal opinions and dealings with the societal issues and other concerns they may have in the future together with the help of our parents guidance and encouragement at home we continue to ban a responsible digital citizenship as our lives have already begun to shift and revolve around the online community let me now call on teacher lance once again to discuss the frequently asked questions before we get to the end part of our program we have provided answers to some of your frequently asked questions [Music] what will happen to schoology and zoom when in-person classes are conducted our learning management system schoology and zoom as our conference platform will still be maximized even when classes shift on site there are cases these platforms can be utilized when primarily the iatf recommends for schools to revert distance learning to promote people's submission of work and other outputs proper channels of communication progress report and necessary announcements is the school going to require students to wear uniforms the answer to this question is yes even if the education secretary already recommended that wearing of school uniforms is optional the school still thinks that it is best for the students to at least avail of the school uniforms for this school year the school will sell patches neckties and losses for girls which can be availed in the accounting office by wearing school uniforms we can avoid complicated issues and any expectations on what to wear are removed and children develop a great sense of equality will the school offer bus services we understand the importance of transportation in these times now that we are slowly going back to normal there are other things that affected the school's decision to hold the offering of bus services we will continue to look into different matters and the recommendation of the ltfrb before we finally decide on the assumption of school bus service will there be additional fees when we revert to in-person classes it was the school's plan to retain the old fees and not to implement any increase as our initial plan for this school year was to remain online for the entire year with the option of limited face-to-face by the second semester however with debit order number 34 mandating schools revert back to on-site classes earlier than planned and with greater frequency of meetings than we expected we sincerely hope that the parents understand the possibility of additional fees let's assure that the school never intends to shortchange our parents because in the end it is about upholding the highest standards in offering quality education does this school have a contingency plan for the possible resurgence of kovit 19 and changes in the alert levels another yes for this one even before the depth order was released falcon school already formulated its school contingency plan in case of resurgence of pieces guided by requirements of the school's safety assessment tool or the ssat nevertheless in case there is resurgence or when we are advised by the department of education to shift against the distance learning falcon school is and always will be ready for online ed will there be interest clubs and extracurricular activities students can participate in the school understands that two years being contained in our homes and having been deprived of opportunities to interact and go out our students deserve to slowly go back to normal and experience once again the school's extracurricular activities and other engagement in activities such as interest clubs and other school events with this in mind the school will evaluate the situation and carefully plan out which activities are productive meaningful and most importantly safe for our students to formally close this year's parent orientation let us all welcome our chairperson for student affairs and student services mrs maria lucila de omano [Music] welcome back dear parents and guardians he lived in interesting times just when he thought the pandemic was over we wake up to news of new diseases and variants this coupled by gas prices and just about everything else continually rising but in every challenge as they say lies an opportunity the learning modality and education has evolved significantly over the past two years just a year ago returning to face-to-face classes seemed to be a remote cosmetic this year however we are all preparing to be physically back on campus at least there seems to be a sense of normalcy and a return to how it was before while online learning has its advantages it has become apparent that face-to-face classes is an important component in the holistic development of each child this we cannot deny revenge spending and revenge travel and become buzzwords post-pandemic perhaps dear parents and students it is now time for revenge learning this year marks the milestone in public schools as we celebrate our 25th year yes 25 years of molding the minds and hearts of the young under our care while getting to our 25th year has been challenging particularly on the last two years due to the falcon spirit of excellence integrity and service to others we achieve this significant milestone we could not have done it without your support parents the faculty office personnel and the admin team's dedication so once again welcome back as we embrace another challenging year thank you teacher malu may i now invite the whole school community to stand and sing the falcon hymn [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] once again on behalf of the faculty and staff of
