what's happening everyone steve here cars with steve and today we're taking an in-depth look at the 2021 ford f-150 lariat now the one in behind me is the super crew configuration so with that full four doors now on top of that it's the short box five and a half foot but one of the things that makes this thing special is that it's got the new 3.5 liter power boost engine in it so that new hybrid engine that everybody's talking about so i'm excited to cover that off with you today now on top of that we're going to be going over a lot of in-depth things such as how does the sync 4 system work now that we've got wireless android auto and apple carplay and a number of other things if you're enjoying the content i'm putting out make sure you give it a thumbs up consider subscribing and share it with your network now once i get to 5 000 subscribers gonna be giving away a free exotic car driving experience but in the meantime let's do something a little bit different comment down below what kind of vehicle you have i'm going to pick somebody out at random i'm going to give you a free gift depending on what your car is guys let's dive right into it and see what the 2021 f-150 lariat has to offer [Music] now taking a peek underneath the hood so this is the new 3.5 liter power boost engine so it's that ecoboost with a hybrid drivetrain in there as well from a power perspective this thing is going to be able to push out 430 horsepower and 570 foot-pounds of torque now on top of that depending on the configuration that you're after so the one that we've got here is the five and a half foot box and it's the super cruise so the full four door so max towing capacity looking at the engine specifically is twelve thousand seven hundred pounds and then depending on your configuration you're gonna be able to pull up to two thousand one hundred and twenty pounds from a payload capacity perspective so this thing is plenty powerful when it comes down to it and it looks absolutely stunning so looking underneath the hood of that so we do have easy access to our battery is necessary we can easily change our windshield wiper fluid now oil and things like that a little bit more challenging to get to up along the top there and as you can see we've got some other basic fluids that we can easily access look at this really really nice looks a 3.5 liter this thing is a six-cylinder engine but looks i think kind of nice and then as always we do have that heat shield along the top with that ford logo with the 502a package so that high package as you can see there we do have quad led headlamps so really really nice look along the bottom there as you can see we also do have our fog lamps and then some tow hooks along the front there is the option for a 360 camera and this larry it does have it so as you can see there we do have our front-facing camera and then on top of that we've got our side cameras which would be then stitched together in order to give us that full 360 camera a 360 view and then as always as you can see there along the back we do have our last camera there so that's what's going to give us that full 360 view taking a peek at the key fob of the vehicle so not much different from the 2020 versus the 2021 model year one thing to point out as well as you can see we do have our unlock button lock button remote start our trunk release as well as our horn or our panic alarm now one other thing is we do have the emergency access key very similar to what we see in other ford vehicles now this is the lariat trim level of the vehicle which means that we do have the ability to power down the tailgate which is fantastic now we can remote start the vehicle directly through the key fob or you've got the option to use fordpass connect in order to be able to remote start through your cell phone instead remote starting the vehicle from the fob is a very straightforward process all we're going to do is press the lock button once and then that circle button twice all right now the vehicle itself is actually started up right now but it's hybrid so it doesn't actually sound like it but it is in order to be able to cancel the remote start we're just going to press that circle button once remote start is now cancelled in order to be able to drop the tailgate on this thing all we're going to do is literally press this button twice on the key fob so double press and look at this down it goes now it is powered down and power up so in order to open this thing back up or the closest thing back up i should say all we're going to do is press that button twice in order to close it but let's move back just a teeny little bit here all right here we go now this vehicle does have the tailgate step if you're getting an f-150 and you're gonna be using the back of it whatsoever i do recommend look at getting that step as an option sure you can reach over the truck absolutely but look at this tailgate step for a second button press drops down take this lever lift it up to lock it into place and now watch this [Music] you can easily get access to the back of the vehicle so that's one of the reasons why i recommend always looking at this tailgate step as an option when you're getting a pickup truck now this is the new tailgate workstation inside of the 2021 f-150 so as you can see there we have some super useful measurements and it is a little bit of a harder top in the back there as well so it's super useful if you're ever going to be cutting wood and things like that you can do that directly off of the back of the tailgate now one other thing to point out kind of an interesting thing to add on is a bottle opener so we can easily open up our bottles at the end of a busy work day and then in the back of this thing few things to point out now as you can see there we do have box lighting in the back there is a camera and box lighting along the top there now one other thing as i mentioned this is the power boost engine but look at that we have our traditional wall outlets so we can power all sorts of tools in the back of this thing so really really beneficial if you're going to be using your truck as a work truck so you can power tools charge batteries things like that directly inside of your vehicle now taking a look in the back here so this is the configuration the setup that we're looking at when you get the full trailer tow package so not only do you get the hitch receiver but you also get all of the necessary connectors along the back so really really beneficial there now when it comes down to towing and how much weight you can tow inside of this thing there is another video that i put together that goes all over towing capacities payload capacity and how all of that stuff works so that that's going to be showing up somewhere on the screen actually check down in the description below for a direct link off to that video and how to make sure you're choosing the correct configuration for your f-150 other thing i'm going to point out along the back here as you can see we do have a key in the back now that's going to be in order to release that spare tire so we can get to the tire just from the back there but we need to use the emergency access key first in order to be able to get to it now this is the 502a version of the vehicle so it's the high package in the f-150 lariat which means a couple things so we do have a reverse sensing system inside of this thing and as you can see there we do have running boards which are going to come standard however this specific one is the power running board instead so we do have the option easily using the key fob lock in order to be able to get those running boards up you've got the option to make sure that they're permanently locked down now one thing to note there is an option inside of the sync 4 system you can set it up so that if the vehicle senses the key it will automatically lower down those power ramps so really really cool and then as i mentioned just lock in order to be able to bring them back up again now one of the nice things that came inside of the 2021 f-150 is actually a lock and gas area which is incredible so this cover we can no longer just push in order to be able to open it up it now locks from the inside let's figure out how to open that up so from inside the truck there as you can see we're just going to pop open and just along the side as you can see there we do have a little yes button so we press that in order to have this thing open up and as you can see so it is a capless system what we would normally see inside of the truck but it's nice to know that this cover is now lockable so you don't have to worry about potential thieves getting in there and siphoning away your fuel when it comes down to filling up gas inside of the f-150 the gas type or fuel type specifically you're just going to use the regular 87 octane so you're regular gas you don't need to use a premium fuel inside of this thing now having said that if you do use a premium fuel like an 89 or 91 higher octane you'll absolutely notice a little bit of an increase in performance in the vehicle but whether or not you use that higher octane or not is really your choice but like i said you can get away with just using that basic fuel type instead now we are in the supercrew version of the vehicle so that full four door which is going to give us the most space specifically for this back row so i'm six feet tall i do as you can see there we do have that twin panel sunroof inside of this thing i've got about an inch and a half maybe two inches of head clearance space and i'm six feet tall so if you're a little bit taller you're most likely going to have to sit in one of the front two seats either as the driver or the passenger or you're going to be sliding back just a tiny little bit but one of the big reasons why you're going to want to go with the supercrew configuration especially if you're using it for a larger crew first of all but more importantly if you've got young kids specifically ones that are still in carriers car carriers and the reason why is because the regular cab has no back seat the super cab is very very tight so you may not be able to get that child seat properly inside of this thing especially if they're a rear-facing child so you just logistically you may not be able to get a small child inside of this thing if they're in that carrier but as the family grows etc the super crew configuration is an amazing option when it comes down to it now one thing these things are foldable so it's a 60 40 split on the driver and the passenger side so we can easily crank a lever down here in order to bring that seat up now we can do it on the other side as well so we crank that up and look at this crazy amount of space in the back here like i literally feel like i can almost use this as like a little exercise area or like maybe a little bit of sleeping space in the back now one thing though this one does not have the collapsible storage option that is available you'd lose a little bit more space here if you did have that storage area as an option but still plenty of space in the back of this thing a few things to point out in the back so as you can see there with the lariat we do have that heated row seat for the back now that o is only available in certain packages we also do have our traditional cigarette lighter adapter and then as we move down we've also got our usb port so we've got our usb and our usbc and along the other one as you can see another built-in inverter so really really beneficial as we look along the back seat so this one does have the b o so bang and a left sound system sounds incredible we've got a little lever along the passenger rear seat we can crank that lever in order to reveal our jack so if we ever need to use a jack in order to be able to pull this vehicle up in order to change the tire this is where we would find it along the back there and along the side as you can see if we ever needed to use a jerry can to fill up the truck we would just use that first and then put the jerry can in afterwards lock it back up into place now other thing to point out we do have cup holders in the back of this thing as well so down a few cup holders and then we can just lift it up in order to lock it back down into place another thing to point out in the back as you can see there is a rear power sliding window that's something that's going to be standard in the 502 version of the f-150 now this is the ebony trim level of the trucks as you can see there nice beautiful look to it beautiful black interior now there are a few things this is going to be standard inside of the ebony so if you're not a fan of this red look unfortunately it's going to be here you've got some options for aftermarket solutions like if you wanted to you could really you could wrap this in a carbon fiber 3m wrap if you really needed to so you've got some options there as we start to look along the driver's side door so let's start down and work our way up we've got our window control buttons the ability to adjust each side view mirror the directional pad to do so we can power fold our side view mirrors we also have the ability to kill off power to those rear windows now this is actually kind of nice it's a nice change compared to the 2020 so these are our seat memory buttons we've got our unlock and our lock so this is a little bit different you do have the option it was the same way in the 2020 it's just laid out differently i think it looks a little bit nicer this way but three individual profile settings so really really useful inside of this thing because the seat memory profiles will remember not only the settings for the driver seat but also the steering wheel and those side view mirrors so if you want to set up an individual profile adjust your mirrors adjust the steering wheel adjust the driver's seat to your liking and then you're going to press and hold either one two or three to create a unique profile for you as we look just to the left of the steering wheel so a little bit busier than what we saw in the 2020 f-150 but still very straightforward along our left-hand side at the top so this is our zone lighting so our lights that are available in the outside of the truck we can easily turn them on now these are the ones that are on the side view mirrors from there we've got the ability to either lower or raise our bed so our tailgate we can lower raise that if we need to and from there we've got our led lighting for the back so we've got the ability to easily work if we're going to be working later on at night and as i showed you earlier this is the button that we would press in order to gain access to the area to fill up on our tank from there we've also got this rotator knob now this is going to allow us to change between our daytime or nighttime running lamps to see whether they're off completely on all the time or on automatically now i do recommend keeping it on the auto setting and the reason why is because with it on the auto setting the vehicle is going to automatically determine if it's the daytime or the nighttime running lamps that are going and it'll automatically flip them on and off as necessary from there we've also got our fog lamps so we can easily press that button in in order to turn our fog lamps on or off last ones from there as you can see along the right hand side we have our plus or minus buttons now that's going to make the instrument cluster brighter or darker as well as that sync 4 screen and as we start to move down we've also got our parking brake as well as our foot pedals now this is available in the majority of the trim levels of the vehicle comes standard in some of them but it gives you the ability to move those foot pedals in or out to your liking and very similar what we saw so with this you can adjust your steering wheel your seat your side view mirrors and your pedal preference and save it in your own individual profile adjusting the drivers seating those vehicles are very straightforward process power driver power passenger just along our left hand side there we've got a series of levers so three individual ones the very first one is going to allow the seat to move forwards or backwards but you can also raise the entire lever up so bring the seat up or you can lower down in order to bring your seat down so really useful if you're a little bit vertically challenged or if you're a little bit tall you can bring that seat up or down as necessary from there we've got that middle lever which is going to be good for our backrest so we can bring that forwards or backwards and the last one to point out is going to be for our power lumbar support so that round button we can easily adjust our beside our back support i should say by moving that forwards or backwards adjusting the steering wheel inside of this vehicle is also a straightforward process it's telescopic and it's power so just by your left knee as you can see there we've got a little dial pad so we can use that in order to bring the steering wheel towards us we can move it away from us or we can move it down or we can lift it up so very straightforward and as i mentioned once you've got your seat steering wheel pedals and your side view mirror set up make sure you save it to your own individual profile now this is the new sync 4 version of the operating system so really really love the fact that ford's giving this thing a little bit of a boost it looks really really sharp as this thing works incredibly well now this screen that we're looking at the 12 inch productivity screen is available starting in the xlt trim level it's going to look roughly the same regardless of what level your we end up going with but some of the features and functions may be different now obviously this one does have the 3.5 liter power boost so that hybrid engine so we're going to have different things available on top of that it's the 502a version which is why we've got built-in navigation you don't necessarily have factory navigation it just depends on what trim level and what options you end up choosing but this is going to be the basic home screen that we're going to be met with so in our basic audio settings we're essentially going to be covering everything that we need to know in sync 4 in this video but looking here as you can see we can change between our sources we've got the ability to change between am fm siriusxm or bluetooth if our cell phone was connected it would show up there as an entertainment source moving back from there we've got the ability to direct you in a few different ways so we can select a radio station there if we'd like to so as you can see we've tuned to a radio station we can tune using this knob down there or we can use our voice using that voice command button on the steering wheel now once we've changed to a station that we want to save as a preset all we have to do is press and hold this button and as you can see it's now saved as a preset and then as you can see there's a mix so we can do am fm siriusxm etc and you can have a mix of all of these different presets which is really really neat on top of that we've got a hotkey for our basic sound settings so we can change the tone settings so it'd be things like treble mid-range bass balance and fade which is kind of neat so we've got the ability to easily select and move around based off of however many people are in the vehicle or we can reset it to wherever the default is from there we've got a speed compensated volume and our stereo our sound mode which is either going to be stereo or surround and this thing does sound really really solid 20 year olds oh we gotta wait for a song to play but it sounds really really cool go back to that in just a second so those are going to be the basics of the audio screen now one thing to point out actually if we look at our basic audio settings for a second there so we've got tons of different options tons of different things that are available now next up what we're going to do is figure out how to add a phone so what we're going to do is press this phone button and then we can do it a few different ways so you can either connect your phone so that you can just make phone calls look at text messages things like that or you can set it up easily for apple carplay and android auto now here's the thing in the 2021 f-150 in the sync 4 screen it's now wireless so we can use android auto and apple carplay wirelessly rather than having to be physically connected through a usb cable very very straightforward in order to be able to connect a phone all we're going to do is connect phones and select it once it is found and we're literally going to follow things on our screen on our phone so all we're going to do is make sure that bluetooth is turned on and give that a second watch what happens okay there we go and ford f150 is shown up there so i'm just going to select f150 and watch this confirm that the pin displayed on sync matches the pin displayed on your device okay so now it's just asking me to make sure that these numbers are the same and they are so i'm going to hit pair on my phone and yes on the screen okay next up on my phone it's saying do i want to allow contacts and favorites to sync absolutely that's the reason why i'm connecting my phone so we're gonna hit allow boom connected really that simple i am set up i'm good to go please stay alert to change in road conditions and use sync's voice activated features while your vehicle is in motion okay so one thing do i want to enable 911 assist absolutely and the reason why is because if your phone's connected and the vehicle senses a collision it's automatically going to die on 9-1-1 for us and talk to the operator so yes we want to make sure we do that i'm now connected but here's one more thing that's popped up so look at this my phone supports apple carplay this has already come up use carplay with sync 4 so you can automatically set it up wirelessly all we're going to do is connect carplay watch this device device supports apple carplay so all we have to do is make sure that we enable it on the vehicle now watch this a few seconds [Music] and boom we're connected guys it's really that simple it literally now is a wireless over-the-air solution and as you can see there not only can i use apple maps i can also use google maps i can use waze and everything's going to be used directly through this middle screen and look at how big and beautiful that looks i love it now going through and using this is actually very straightforward so we can look we can go through some basic settings now one thing to point out live x live is a radio app so some apps like live x live spotify et cetera will work directly through this middle screen if for whatever reason your app's not showing up make sure on your phone that you've got the latest version of your operating system install but more importantly the latest version of the app now one thing to point out initially what i was trying to do is connect to my phone through carplay and i couldn't and the reason why is because i was running an old version of ios which didn't support the wireless carplay so just make sure that you're up to date in order for this to effectively work now on top of that there are some things that you can do by going through your general settings and then carplay so we've got the ability it's going to come up there so we can customize and we can customize different things so we can customize what buttons are showing up there so if we don't want all of these things showing up we can control what's showing up we can have our podcast show in a different spot watch this it's going to happen live so i'm just going to move this up to the top and drop and as you can see podcasts have now moved to the front so we've got the ability to easily customize we can delete apps but all available apps will show at the very bottom so as you can see more apps and then we can just reset it to whatever the factory default is when this thing is first connected so as you can see we are now back to our default settings then just go back from there now carplay is fully enabled in the vehicle now if we want to disable the carplay or if we want to completely remove the phone we can easily do that just under the settings screen there we can just go to the phone list and we'd see all the connected devices all we have to do is select the device we can either disable carplay or we can look at my phone settings we've got some different options there or we can completely scrap my phone and remove it from the vehicle boom and it's now disconnected if we go back to phone as you can see nothing's connected and that's how we connect an iphone device and set up sync 4 and set up carplay inside of this vehicle connecting an android device is essentially the exact same process all we're going to do is press add phone on the screen for your vehicle on your device and select it once it is found and there you go as you can see available devices we have the f-150 confirm that the pin displayed on sync matches the pin displayed on your device same thing that we just saw on the iphone so make sure that the pins match up and we're just gonna hit yes and okay for your safety please stay alert to changing road conditions and use sync's voice activated features while your vehicle is in motion perfect all right so device device supports android auto we want to make sure we do that but first of all let's deal with these messages have come up on screen allow access to contacts we want to allow access to messages yes contacts yes all right here we go now the device supports android auto do we want to enable it absolutely let's enable watch this oh what's happening what's happening we're connected just like that the phone is now connected my device is now fully connected it's really that straightforward of a process now looking along the bottom there we can press that hot button and that essentially works as our home button but same thing we can use waze we can use google maps directly through this middle screen so if you don't want to rely on factory navigation or if your vehicle doesn't have factory navigation we've got the ability to easily use our phone instead as you can see there there are some different things we can easily look at my podcast my phone we can look through maps and different things like that directly through this middle screen really really neat from there we can see our active notifications as well as use our google assistant so really really cool and then very straightforward what we just saw with the iphone if we want to disconnect we can look at the device we can either disable android auto and we can look at different settings for my phone or we can boom scrap in order to get rid of it completely and it is now fully disconnected boom disconnected there and if we go to phone all phones are now disconnected from the vehicle using factory navigation is a straightforward process as well so this is going to be the basics of this navigation screen so big beautiful i think it looks incredible on this new sync four system this is like kudos to ford for that one for giving this thing an update i think it looks really really sharp so looking there if this menu button never goes away it's gonna show up there just press that to bring this up again we can hit the menu button and that gives us a few different things so we can look at our map orientation we can look at our voice settings there we can go to avoid different routes we can show things on maps look at our trailer routing settings or go to more options more options gives us our map and routing preferences where we can automatically re-route to avoid traffic which is really really cool because this setting is something that you'd use typically in the waze app so i love the fact that it's now a built-in connected technology we can use hov lanes when we're routing use a 3d map and then we can also change our preferred route to the fastest or the most or the most eco-friendly from their basic privacy settings and then about as well as some other preferences there as we start to move back now we can easily search for an address there and it does auto-complete so if we start typing in an address and then we give it a second in between each letter as we go it'll automatically pick up the address for us so it'll take a second boom let's find this address there we go so we're just going to click on the address there now a couple of things to note if it's a 4x4 trail we can avoid it if we want to in our map preference we can save it as a favorite or use it as a person or as a personal route from there we've also got the ability to select different parking spots or we can map it there as well pressing back and actually in order to be able to start the route literally all we're going to do is press start traffic laws be alert and use voice commands while driving please proceed to the highlighted road there we go and we're connected now one thing to note along the bottom there we can press this button in order to expand the map out to take up the entire screen so i think that looks really really sharp and really really cool that we've got that option there and what we can do is we can highlight the root there if we need to in order to get rid of it so we can block that off and we've canceled the route that we just finished going now one thing to note it's actually really cool let's actually find another route again so we'll go to recents we've got our options there let's look at that and we'll hit start now one thing when we use navigation in this thing watch this it also has the directions there and how long until we hit our destination so really really cool on that middle screen so not only can we see the map there but it also tells us what's going on at the root along our instrument cluster screen cancelling the root out as i mentioned there just press the delete button that cancels the root out for us and as we saw earlier we've got recent spots that we've gone to we can see some safe spots and things like that now one of the benefits of saved is that we can set up our home work address and multiple saved addresses one of the benefits of setting that up is that we can literally use our voice command button in order to say navigate home and it'll automatically set up the directions for our home address so really really beneficial there and that's going to be the basics of this sync 4 screen for the navigation from there we've got this fav button now this is really really cool i love the fact that ford's introduced this one so we've now got the ability to customize the tray a little bit and we can add in hotkeys for whatever we'd like to now there is an option to easily change between audio sources so we've got a hotkey button there but you've got the ability to select between a few different things so if you wanted to have your messaging there phone list etc you can have another option there if you'd like to from there we've also got our basic apps so if our phone was connected and certain apps were available they would show up there so things like spotify live x live when they're connected it would show up under this app screen moving into our settings now so settings as you can see there are ton of different options our basic sound settings which we've already covered off under audio we've got some clock settings now as well so we can increase or decrease an hour or a minute change between am or pm we can switch between that military 24 hour time if we want to or the auto time update the auto time update that'll automatically change the time based off of daylight savings time and also the gps location so if you're going east coast west coast whatever the case may be it's automatically going to update the time for you depending on where the vehicle is located and back from there we've got the ability to easily add a phone and we've got some connectivity options there so one of the nice things about this thing is that you can manage you can connect to a wi-fi network at home and i absolutely recommend doing that and the big reason why is because when you're connected at home you can also do automatic system updates so i always recommend make sure you do these things in tandem connect to wi-fi at home automatic system updates because autumn system updates will automatically get pushed directly to the device from there we've got sync navigation so that is going to be just our basic sync our built-in factory navigation which we've covered that off under navigation there and we've got some basic radio settings now so as you can see there we've got the radio text which that's the i'll go there i'll show you here so the radio text is going to be this information there that shows up whether or not that shows up as your preference from there we've got the number of preset pages i always recommend turn that to six the maximum setting that you can go and the reason why is because we now have 30 individual preset pages so real or 30 individual presets i should say so six pages but a ton of presets so if you're the type of person where you listen to a ton of different type of music or you like to have preset pages based off your mood you've got the capabilities to do that now one other thing to point out actually if we're on a different source specifically siriusxm watch what happens there so this settings button now becomes siriusxm and that gives us a lot of different options for our sirius xm settings so basic sound settings we've got the option four different tones so very similar to what we see for a basic sound we've got the ability to look at some subscription demos from there we've got our listening history listener settings is one of the cool ones so if you've got multiple listeners inside of the vehicle you can have individual settings per person and then the preset pages tie into not only your siriusxm but that ties into your am fm things like that along the bottom as well so what shows up there is going to depend on what screen you're on or what source i should say you're on there that's the basics of that from there we've got some more advanced vehicle settings now these vehicle settings tons of different options there let's jump through it we've got our 30 minute idle so the vehicle will stay on for 30 minutes before turning off a rear occupancy alert watch what happens here when i turn the vehicle off so really really cool that that does happen when we turn the vehicle off easy entry exit so as we start as we try to get out of the vehicle what will happen is that essentially bring the the seat down and back and bring the steering wheel up in order to easily be able to get in and out of the vehicle from there we've got our eco idle mode we've got my key as well now the my key essentially gives you the ability to set certain limitations based on an individual key fob so it's actually kind of neat what you can do with that my key setting so things such as you can only go up to a maximum speed or maybe the audio won't turn on unless the seat belts actually turn on for the plugged in for the driver so you've got the capabilities to do that you can set speed limitations which is really neat so really really useful if you're lending the vehicle out you want to play a prank on a spouse whatever the case may be and just go back from there onboard serial number we've got our alarm system type so asking on exit do we want the vehicle to ask us if we want the alarm system on or off yes or no from there we've also got our remote start setups you can remote start directly through your key fob or you can remote start using the fordpass app we can turn off remote start so we can't remote start whatsoever but when we do what happens with this setting turned on it's automatically going to let the vehicle determine what the cabin temperature should be or to let us go to our last setting so whatever the last setting was before the vehicle was turned off with our seats and steering wheel is it going to let the vehicle determine if the heated seat heated steering wheel are cooled seats should be turned on or is that going to be off and the duration 5 10 or 15 minutes moving back from there we've got our wipers with a few different settings so our courtesy wipe if our wipers are going and we stop them a few seconds later it'll just give us one more wipe and then our rain sensing wipers absolutely recommend turning those ones on and it's going to adjust the wiper speed as necessary from there we've got our power tailgate which we jumped and we saw that one a second ago and we've got the option for lowering that down power using either the button inside the vehicle or our key fob or we can make it a manual process instead to keep it power it's there from there we've got some basics for lighting so we've got our glare free lighting which is cool some basic welcome lighting so outside the vehicle from there we've got our auto lamp delay so when we lock the vehicle do our lamps turn off automatically 10 second delay 20 second or 2 minute delay from there after that we've got our zone lighting so we've got the ability to turn on zone lighting for outside the vehicle all right and from there we've also got our ambient lighting so ambient lighting certain lighting inside the vehicle so that's lighting that's on all the time and we can adjust the brightness there now one thing to note you can adjust the brightness of the ambient lighting but you cannot adjust the color so it's going to be the same color all the time regardless from there we've got our locks and locks we've got a few different things so auto unlock etc all of these things are in there as a default mislock chirp is if you have shut a door but not completely and you go to lock it you'll get a double horn letting you know that you haven't correctly locked the or shut the doors i should say remote unlock what that's going to let you do is when you unlock the vehicle to all doors become unlocked or is it just the driver's door so matter of preference there and moving back we've also got our mirrors so when we go to lock the door lock the vehicle do the mirrors automatically fold yes or no let's auto fold that and we've also got our door keypad code so there is a five digit factory number that you can use there i'll show you what that looks like with something inside for a spec that's going to be these numbers here so just along the driver's side door as you can see we've got five different numbers there so we can get access to the vehicle if we don't have the key fob on us so there is a five-digit number that's going to come standard in the factory but we can set up multiple of our own if we'd like to and that can be done either outside or directly through this middle screen instead and back from there and that is going to be the basics of our vehicle settings from there we've got a series of general settings so we can change between english spanish or french celsius and fahrenheit kilometers oh kilometers per hundred or kilometers in liters per hundred or miles per gallon psi this beeping that we're getting if you're not a fan of the beep you can turn it off basic software licenses and some reset options so you can reset the ford pass app if it's giving you issues in your vehicle or you can also do a master reset to set the vehicle to your factory defaults all right from there we've also got so system updates i already kind of explained that one with connectivity we want to make sure that our system updates are turned on and because the vehicle is automatically going to update over the air so really really beneficial there 9-1-1 assist if our phone's connected vehicle senses a collision it's automatically going to dial 9-1-1 for us from there we've got mobile apps so some settings there so whether or not some of the apps are available over usb or bluetooth basic display settings so this thing is a very big and beautiful screen but if it's a little bit too much you've got the ability to either turn the display off if you'd like to touch in order to bring this back to life or we can go to a calling screen instead with just the time showing so if you find it's a little bit too busy you've got the ability to put it to sleep or by pressing this button we can bring it back to life turn it off etc we can also change the brightness and we can change the mode so it's in daytime mode right now or you can have it in nighttime mode permanently so daytime permanent night time permanent or let the vehicle determine based off of how bright it is outside but i love the look of this blue so i would personally always set it up with this blue but again it is a matter of personal preference you've got the ability to select between different modes there there we go perfect and jumping back and back again and that's going to be the basics of our display voice command settings now so we've got a number of different things so listen for awake word very very interesting so this is actually very very similar to saying what okay siri or hey siri or hey google whatever the case may be so we can get the vehicle to listen for awake word and we can choose which one we go to now the benefit of doing that watch this let's see if we want to change radio stations okay ford 97.7 tuning to fm 97.7 what so not only do we now not have to push the voice command button now we can do literally everything using our voice so very very beneficial there now one thing to note with the advanced mode on when i change stations there was a message letting us know that it was changing stations but listen to this now okay ford 94.9 okay it's doing something it's changed the station for us but it didn't give us that notification so with the advanced mode on we just won't get as many notifications as we use our voice phone confirmation if we're making a phone call do we want to call such and such person yes or no and then our voice command list so when we say ok ford this is the voice command list so whether or not that one shows up is really a matter of personal preference there so i always recommend make sure you have these basic settings on turn on advanced mode turn on or off the voice command list but turn on that listen for the wake word because it is useful you can just press the button to the left on the steering wheel there but you've also got the option to now use your voice instead from there we've got valet mode valet mode essentially lets you enter in a four digit number in order to be able to lock the screen out use something challenging not one one or zero zero etc but as you can see there we can now do nothing on the screen until we re-enter that four-digit number again so we enter that four-digit number and the screen is now fully unlocked i was kind of like i hope it actually unlocks it's never happened where it hasn't but it would be funny if it did next up vehicle hotspot so the vehicle is equipped with an onboard modem you do need to have a data only plan through your cell phone provider in order to be able to use that so it is kind of neat that we've got the capabilities to do that we can use connect i should say up to 10 different devices inside of this thing as well if we've got that set up and lastly is our personal profiles so if you've got you know two three four five ten people that are gonna be driving this vehicle you can set up an individual profile that's connected to a few different things you can name your profile and what that'll do is it'll automatically change the seats out your preferences your radio station your phone and things like that directly for that individual so really really useful if you've got multiple people driving the vehicle you can set up all of these different profiles so things like your radio stations your presets will be based off of whoever's personal profile you've selected so really really cool and i think that is it for the basic settings from there we've got some feature options now and this is where it gets a little bit more technical next up in the feature section so we have a ton of different options here so first off let's start off with driver assistance so the auto hold setting what that's going to do is if the auto hold settings turned on and you come to a complete stop and take your foot off the brake the vehicle won't move there are three different types of cruise control we've got our normal cruise which is your regular cruise control that you'd be used to the adaptive cruise which is a set it and forget it cruise control so if you set it to let's say 100 kilometers an hour on the highway if the vehicle in front of you slows down yours will automatically break as well the intelligent cruise control takes the adaptive to the next level where not only is a set and forget it cruise control but let's say if you've got the vehicle essentially is going to recognize speed signs so let's say if it recognizes a sign where it drops from 80 kilometers an hour down to 60 kilometers an hour we've set up a tolerance for five kilometers an hour so what will happen is if the vehicle senses that the speed's dropped it's automatically going to drop us to our allotted tolerance level without us having to do anything so it's a really really great system from there we've got our lane centering system so that's the one that's actually going to recenter us and pull us back into our lane so it's really really beneficial system from there we've oh we've also got our speed limit assist so if we are going too fast we're going to get a speed warning we can turn that one on or off lane keeping mode same thing works three different ways we've either got our alert so what the alert will do is essentially shake the steering wheel almost as if we're running over rumble pavement from there we've got an alert or an eight i should say which is actually going to recenter us and pull us back into our lane and then the alert and the aid which will do both so it'll shake the steering wheel a little bit and it'll recenter us and pull us back into our lane automatically from there we've got an intensity and that's the intensity of the shake a high normal or a low shake from there we've also got our pre-collision assist so pre-collision assist i always recommend keeping that system on and the reason why is because if the vehicle senses a potential collision it's automatically going to break for you if for whatever reason it can't break evasive steering will take over the way it'll take over and then it'll pull you out of the way of a potential collision to either minimize or completely avoid it if possible so always recommend as i mentioned keeping that one turned on from there we've got a rear camera view so we've got that look there so if we shift into reverse as you can see there we've got our rear camera view with our parking aid there as well back into park from there and we've also got our enhanced parking aid which is going to be this information showing up along the side next up blind spot system lets us know if anybody's entered the blind spot on either side of the vehicle so taking a look at that side view mirror for a second there let's turn that one off thank you so much andy g for showing me about that one but look at that so you can kind of see it kind of blinking orange there but that lets us know if anybody's entered the side view i entered the blind spot i should say in either side of the vehicle so really really beneficial to have that system turned on as we start to move down we've got our parking aid sensor so that backup beeping that we get we've got the capabilities to turn that one on or off now we've also got a cross traffic alert so if a vehicle is coming perpendicular so from the left to the right side whether we see it or not we're going to get a warning letting us know of a potential collision and the reverse brake assist if we're in reverse and we're backing up let's say fairly aggressively and the vehicle senses a potential obstacle it'll automatically break for us last one is going to be our driver alert so if we get too many warnings we're going to the vehicle is going to let us know that we should probably take a break from there now some of these things are going to be specifically for the power boost engine that's going to be our pro power on board so that's going to be the big one now looking there so that's going to let us know how much power is currently inside of this vehicle so not a ton as of right now because the gas is pretty low and i've been talking for quite a little bit so the battery is going to be pretty low we can flip this thing into generator mode we can test it out we can turn off the pro power on board completely as well so it cannot be used moving back we've got our zone lighting so really really cool element there we've got the ability to turn on lighting around the vehicle so we can get our headlights going we can get the side lights going we can get them all going so it's really really neat we can kind of control what's going on we can override what's going on with our existing setup as well so we can turn all the lights on that's really really beneficial if you're going to be doing any sort of late night work just to knowing that you've got some extra lighting if necessary three buttons along the top we can either enable auto lamp override or disable it so if we've got our high beams going or our lights off it's not automatically going to override that one i always recommend keeping it on automatically as well because it's going to adjust things as necessary from there we've also got towing now one thing that we're going to want to make sure that we do is we connect our trailer to the vehicle and we also make sure the big reason why is because it's going to help us out with that trailer sway control as well so if the vehicle senses a potential trailer sway it's automatically going to apply braking to the engine just to make sure that we don't lose control of the vehicle moving back we've also got so this specific one does have the power running boards if you don't have power running boards this one's not going to show up then as you can see there we've got different modes that are available so we can have them off out auto or a timer which is kind of neat and we've also got that kick switch so we've got the quick kick switch on the outside of the vehicle which is kind of neat so we can just drop our foot down in order to be able to lower those power boards and then approach detection so if the vehicle senses the key fob coming close it's automatically going to lower the running boards for us so really really neat from there we've got our basic owner's manual so if you need to figure out what that dash light is we can go to the owner's manual there in order to be able to look at it from there we've got our power flow so again a hybrid specific feature and those are going to be the basics of the sync 4 system with the exception of this little guy now looking here as you can see this essentially is going to be a hot screen list of certain vehicle features if we press this menu button there watch this we've now got a different style outlook for it so we can kind of tweak the way that it looks there and we can select certain options so really really beneficial if you'd prefer oh i don't know let's say maybe you've got your audio settings there all the time when we've got navigation going or maybe you want to have your phones shown up or your eco behavior showing up there instead so there is some nice customizations that are available inside of this thing looking at some buttons up overhead so if you do not have the hybrid version of the vehicle you will not have this because it's the pro power on board hot button now this is the button for that 360 cameras as you can see there we've got a nice 360 view of the vehicle off to the right hand side we've got the ability to zoom in on certain features or certain locations as well so really really beneficial if you're pulling out of or getting around a tighter spot so we can easily kind of adjust that this is going to be our reverse sensing system we can turn it on or off and that's going to be our auto parking brakes we've got the ability to set that up we've also got our full 360 view we can do a front view we can do a front 180 degree view or we've also got the ability to turn on our backup camera as well so not our backup camera our cargo bed area so really really cool the fact that we've got all of these cameras set up around this thing now this is the way that it looks when we've got that full 360 camera if we didn't have that setup it would look slightly different and from there we can press that button in order to get rid of that camera completely next one over we do have our four-way blinkers we've got our hill descent control so that hill descent control button what that's going to do is it's going to keep you at a certain speed it's really beneficial if you're going downhill especially with a heavier load so it's going to control the speed of the vehicle keep it low so you only have to focus on driving instead so just that steering wheel next up is our traction control so a hot button there so we've got the ability to easily turn our traction control on or off from there this one does have the full trailer tow package so with that trailer tow package with that backup assist as you can see there we've got the ability to use this in order to it's essentially rather than counter steering the steering wheel you just twist this the direction that you'd like the vehicle to go and it's automatically going to counter steal their wheel for you so really really cool off to the right hand side there is a little button there and we can simply press that button boom look at this tiny little button tiny little box opens up there so we can press that in order to open this thing up now a couple other things to point out so a few things have changed in the location and functionality in the 2021 model so as you can see there we do have our integrated brake controller which is now in a higher position there we've got the ability to select between our two high four high four low now one nice thing about the lariat is that we also do have this 4a so auto setting so it's automatically going to flip us into either rear wheel or all wheel so it's electronically going to determine where the power should be just depending on what the vehicle senses is necessary from there we've also got the ability to easily select between different drive modes watch what happens as we do that so we've got our normal drive so normal drive slippery deep snow and sand mud ruts rock crawl and then going the other way we've also got our trailer so tow haul the eco mode as well as sport mode and as you can see there so it does have a different look and there's going to be a different kind of setup there so see what look at this so this is a sport mode there it's a few different highlights it does look a little bit different tweaked a bit now when we compare that to an eco mode so let's switch out to eco mode and look at this so things are green so it's all of these small things that happens automatically so it's really really cool what the vehicle does for us so in the eco mode it's obviously going to flip us into rear wheel drive and it's giving us this nice green look to the screen instead so it's all these little things that are all controlled directly by selecting this available drive mode now as we start to actually move down the screen itself so lots of things to look at here now as i mentioned this is the redesigned for the 2021 model but it is busy there's lots of stuff going on here so let's take a peek and figure it all out as you can see we've got our volume rocker there zombieland opening song love it all right now a couple of things we've got a hot key there for basic audio settings so we're treble mid-range bass etc press that to get rid of it this is going to be a hotkey so this is new for this year but as you can see there it lets us switch between our different audio sources so am fm siriusxm etc love the fact that they've added this hotkey button in and the ability to put our screen to sleep so make it the call mode put it to sleep completely or we can bring it back to life and as you can see there we've also got that tuning rocker so we can easily change between radio stations if we need to we can also change radio stations by going this way we can change between songs we can play your pause as we start to move down so this thing does have dual zone climate control which is really really nice so if the passenger likes it a little bit warmer you've got the capabilities to do that now one nice thing is that if the passenger and all of a sudden is no longer in the vehicle we press this dual button again it's going to bring us back to whatever the driver setup is looking at some different buttons along the top there as you can see we've got our max windshield defroster rear window defroster this is going to be our climate grid so lets us know where our air is going so either to our windshield face or to our feet we can either press the close button or just press that hotkey again to get rid of that auto setting lets the vehicle determine what the cabin temperature should be air circulation button with that button turned on its going to just circulate air throughout the cabin when the button's off it's going to pull out air outside and bring it in we've got our air conditioning button and our max ac and from there we've easily got the ability to power off and turn off our climate settings so if we don't want the climate on whatsoever we've got the ability to easily do that and from there we've also got our heated steering wheel so we can turn that button on easily now one of the nice things about the lariat is that not only do we have heated seats we also have ventilated cooled seats really really beneficial especially for those hot or those really really hot times of the year because these things are leather seats but as you see there's a perforated leather so it looks really really sharp and as we start to move over as you can see there we do have our 12-volt adapters a regular cigarette lighter adapter as well as our traditional wall outlet so if we need to plug something else in here we've got the capabilities to do that so lots of places to do that which is kind of nice as we start to move down this is a new look for 2020. i love the look of this and this is some of our zone lighting there so our cabin lighting which is kind of neat but back up we can easily lock this tray into place and as you can see we've got our usb and our usbc so micro usb and on top of that we also have a cell phone holder so really really cool so this is kind of neat so really neat setup and they really thought this thing through because if you look at the bottom there there also is the option for a charge cable so if you've got a phone you need to plug in through a usb you've got the capabilities to easily do that from there we've got a little storage space along the side there we've got a few cup holders if we need to we've got a pen holder another spot to put our cell phone now one thing to note now this is the lariat version of the vehicle so we do have get this watch this ah power folding now one thing to note is that this thing here does not have the interior work surface area so it's unfortunate that they don't uh but i mean you can kind of get creative if you have a passenger over there you know you can kind of figure out what you can do with this thing here or we can bring this back up and as you can see we've got our park reverse neutral drive or m for our manual mode which gives us better control over these little guys so our gear shifter so we're in a 10-speed vehicle so we've got the ability to either increase or decrease a gear as necessary from there cup holders along the back as well as a little bit of storage and then we've also got this big guy so as you can see there we've got a little storage tray we can easily remove that and we've got some more storage space there tons of storage space i should say and we've also got a few more usb ports inside of there so another usb and usb c so tons of connectivity options there now as i mentioned this specific one does not have the interior work surface if it did this part of it would actually just fold up and over so we can easily use that in order to be able to work on the inside of the vehicle okay next up let's take a peek at the steering wheel and first of all let's give props to ford for how this display looks inside of the lariat i love this thing i love the look of it it looks super sharp but let's start off with the steering wheel first along the left hand side as i mentioned this specific one we do have the adaptive cruise control setup this would look slightly different if you didn't have adaptive cruise but once you use adaptive and figure out how it actually works it's incredible that video on how adaptive cruise control works is coming soon but we can press this button in order to turn the adaptive cruise control system on or off and we know it's on there but what we can do is now we've got a distance indicator so this button there along the top lets us choose between how far or how close we are away from the vehicle that's in front of us this next one is going to be our lane skipping system so that centering system we can turn that one on or off and that's the one that's going to make sure that we stay in our lane now one thing to note is that the system itself actually does turn on when we hit about 60 kilometers an hour or so and that's when we'll see those things highlight green letting us know that that system is now fully activated from there once you get up to the speed that you'd like to we can press plus or minus in order to set the speed and then we can either increase or decrease one kilometer or one mile per hour at a time or we can cancel or reset if we ever need to brake manually as we start to move down we've got our volume knob so we can easily either increase or decrease the volume and from there we've also got a hotkey for our voice command but as i mentioned now with the connectivity availability inside of that sync 4 screen so now with that wake up word we can press this button or we can just say something simple like okay forward and as you can see there that voice command list is now active so we don't have to press the steering wheel button anymore but just knowing that we now have a hotkey to press if we need to on the right hand side of the steering wheel there as you can see we've got our basic back button menu button up and down and okay so that's going to let us figure out kind of what's going on with this middle screen there so we would use these buttons in order to change between active screens so as you can see here we've got different options lots of different things we can configure the view as well so we can have different screens showing up there so lots of different options there which is kind of neat press the back button there so basic driver assistance settings so that driver assistance setting that's going to be the lane keeping system look and feel again this system is currently turned on we can turn it off as well too if we'd like and just press the ok button so if you ever get a message showing up on that screen so as you can see there let's turn the system on again so as you can see there we go and we can press that ok button in order to be able to turn it off from there we can press that menu button again in order to bring up different views we can look at some different trips so look at different trips we've got our ev coach some basic driver assistant settings as well so it's kind of neat what you can select through there from there if we ever need to reset anything so fuel economy all we're going to do is press and hold the ok button there and it's going to reset us back to our default again there and same thing with our trip all we have to do is press and hold the ok button there and then that will reset the trip as well trip counter very very straightforward and we've got a lot of different options there which is kind of cool i do love the fact that we can kind of customize this look and we can tweak different screens and we can add different things in so it is really really beneficial that we've got the capabilities to do that we can look at some basic truck information as well so seat belts connected anybody that's currently got a seat belt on as of right now nobody does have their seat belts going but let me put my seat belt on for a second so you can see what happens here we go and boom boom one seat belt on so it's kind of neat that we've got that capability so you can make sure that everybody that's sitting inside the vehicle actually is wearing their seatbelt it's a nice little safety feature availability through ford so you've got the capability to do some basic customizations to the screen which is kind of nice now one thing let's look at oh actually this is kind of neat so navigation if you had a route going it would show up on this middle screen there letting you know how quickly before you have to turn but you've also got the capabilities instead of going through that screen you can now search between different addresses you can navigate to your home address as well if your phone was connected you could go through some basic phone settings we've also got the ability to select between our am fm sirius xm directly through this middle screen and then again back to some basic settings so we can configure our gauges which are going to be these little guys along the top so we can swap positions there and figure out what kind of gauges are going to be showing up again matter of preference which one shows up where and then speed in kilometers and miles per hour so really really beneficial in a border crossing if you're getting close to a border you'll get a warning letting you know about that neutral toe and then our vehicle maintenance so oil life so when you do an oil change just reset that and then you've also got the tire pressure reset as well this is the button that we would press in order to answer or hang up on a phone call and from there we can either change songs radio stations etc by pressing this button as we start to move up overhead now this is the lariat so we've got the ability to select our garage door from there so enter in our garage door code so we've got the ability to program that in which is great we've also got a light on our mirror there as well and we've also got the ability to easily extend this out as necessary click that back and lock it into place from there looking up overhead as you can see we also do have our sunglasses holder very standard in four vehicles now this one here also has that power sliding rear window so by pressing that button as you can see you can open and close that window and that's just going to be that button along the top from there we've also got the ability to turn on cabin lights as necessary that's actually turning these things on there we go perfect and we can control them if all of them are on or off and from there we can turn on individual ones if we'd like to and this one does have the twin panel sunroof so it's not standard it's available as an option but look at how much it opens this thing up so it's a beautiful beautiful look to it and we've got two different controls there so we can either vent this thing out a little bit if we want to this is going to be for our shade so we can open and close the shade or we can open up that sunroof look at this beautiful look oh it's a really really nice look and then just a button press in order to be able to close it up now one thing to note this is an auto dimming mirror so if the mirror senses that things are a little bit bright behind us it's automatically going to dim it just to make things a little bit easier for your eyes as you're driving so really really nice but i love the touch of all the little small things that are available now inside of this thing now one other thing to point out on the driver passenger side there as you can see we've got some basic fan controls there and that's going to be for these two main vents and these two in the middle we don't have that same capability to open and close we can just shut them this way instead so point them tilt them shut them well folks that was a look at the 2021 f-150 lariat the in-depth look where you got to learn everything about it what'd you think if you have any questions make sure you drop down in the comments section below and let me know feel free to share this thing with your social networks but until i see you next time make sure you stay safe how to set up a phone sync for all of that fun stuff is all going to be covered in this video if you enjoy that do you have the ability to program in our garage door open uh chords yeah we're going to be covering off everything you might need to want
