Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
The 997 has such a classic 911 charm to it. Itβs crazy to see how small it is today even compared to the 992.
Also loving Thomasβ W201 (or is it W124) shirt and that intro.
I think the "T" variant will suit the 992 well. Engine from the base 911 and the shorter gears from the S, while being a touch lighter.
Of course... this video made me hit up Craigslist and the cheapest clean manual 997 S I could find around Vancouver was... $39k. 2005 RWD Coupe. Drool.
Everyone needs to stop talking about how great the 997.2 is...Iβve been saving to buy one next year and prices are going up!
This intro takes the cake. These guys are the only ones that will get me visibly laughing at almost every video.
Keep doing what your doing gents, your formula is spot on and I always feel like I'm watching Canadian youtube Top Gear.
That 993 tho. Been my dream car for 25 years. Shame prices are so high now.
Absolutely loved this review. Nobody talks about steering and "visceral-ness" like this. I know exactly what they are talking about. When I drive my recently sold E90 side by side with my Macan S, the Macan certainly has "quicker" steering but it just does not transmit anywhere near the same amount of road feel. The steering is heavy for EPS but only about 70% as heavy as the E90 was.
The 992 is a great car but it's too expensive and too refined for me. The 997 is my choice. I'm a firm believer that the golden age for sporty cars was the late 90s - early 2010s. These cars struck the perfect balance between sporty/visceral-feeling and refinement/luxury while having enough tech (e.g. Bluetooth) to not feel ancient. Modern cars have become too refined and muted.
Oh my. A very exciting 911 Day on TH. The Arena Red 993 was quite a surprise, although I'm a bit sad I didn't get to see Thomas rave about it, too, although I assume that footage was NSFW. I'd love to see a similar Boxster/Cayman breakdown between the 981, 718, and 718 GTS 4.0 (or even previous gens like the 987.2). It's also interesting that these legacy comparisons poke at what's really important about a sports car. Feel vs. speed, feedback vs. precision, etc.
I own a 991 GTS which I love, I drove the 992 which for me felt a little saturated to drive but the infotainment and comforts are fantastic. The 997 on the other hand is fantastic fun to drive but there are a few small things they added after that make later models so much more enjoyable as a daily driver.
