welcome to big Monday presented by boost mobile it is a servo charge crowd at the Corbin Sports Center affectionately known as club Corbin one of the best atmospheres in all of college basketball there extra Heights tonight North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T arrivals they're also two of the best teams of the MEAC and we're getting a potential conference championship preview tonight name's Ralph alongside former Baylor star king McClure we were told we're gonna see things tonight you don't see at a basketball game Logano about to and I am ready for it but what I've even more ready for is these players that we're about to watch on this point we got a DJ in the house pregame hustle and flow in game hustle and flow and there's gonna be serious hustle and flow on the court three potential react players of the year to that like the highlight first two free blood averaging 20 points per game 10 rebounds per game he is an absolute dog down low second Ronald Jackson this matchup is going to be crazy the average in 15 points per game 13 rebounds in conference this matchup will be something that you will not want to miss at home the first of two meetings between these two nc central has won five in a row to fall to the top of the biacks standings North Carolina ANC was the top to be asked for most of the season they're coming off back-to-back road losses but this place is one of the best home court atmospheres and the best home court arena in the man yeah forget the meai we're talking about the whole country no talking to the SSID he said that this place is a top 10 top 15 home court advantage according to Kim Poong that is impressive many of you may not have seen a game here and what you see in the stands and the histrionics in the stands that's almost as good as what you'll be seeing on the floor yes we will definitely be in for it so on and off the court [Music] wait Gladys Steve Anderson and montre are the officials today as we're about set to get underway and North Carolina AMC the Aggies and the Goldblum control the opening tip and C central and the road black uniforms and a false start the clock did not start and C Central has been the class of this conference of late they've won three straight league titles they've been to the NCAA tournament three years in a row and four of the last six for North Carolina A&T they're trying to get where NC central is definitely definitely see coach Bowden has done a great job with his program he's probably one of the most underrated coaches in the country we're gonna talk about why he's so good away he does later on but this guy has better he's done a special job with this program eleventh season as the head coach of FC central and already at all these stop [Music] I was trying to get the clock right we had a great friggin conversation with without Bachmann who I was telling us that you don't worry about success you worry about being valuable he talked about the day you're born the day you die those are just dates the - in between that's what matters what you do and he's got a great story a young man who grew up in the projects walking a very rough farmer Brawley who's able to make something of himself was a great player of NC Central and now he's become one of the great head coaches of this league 23 years old he's somebody who inspired me I met the guys first time today talking Khmer about five to ten minutes and I was inspired by a story online looking at his TED talk I normally don't watch videos like that but the first two minutes had me intrigued it can't buy a kitchen from start to finish i watch the whole 19 minutes and we're gonna show you bits and pieces from his TED Talks which is about his grandmother you saw available poetry Imboden as he was called when he played at NC central one of the great scores in school history satis challenges this year the eagles of that guys in and out of the lineup CJ Kaiser's who the playing well missed the last two games Randy Miller was the stop returning score he's probably done for the season with a foot injury hasn't played since December from your head coach coach the way he's able to get his guys to still be able to play game and game out despite who's in the lineup a who's not a lot about him and how he runs a program I keep talking to coaches after coaches in this conference coach that Morgan say even a coach at A&T said the reason why they're so good is because of the coaches that he built and you can tell that every guy who plays for him understands the closer it knows what to bring every night you planted Baylor described with a winning culture looks like a winning coach looks like coming to practice every day working as hard as you possibly can do an extra now coach Bowden said a lot of guys they'll do what he asked and they think that's enough she says no that's not enough you're just doing what he asked so what you should be doing is boy doing sure that's what a winning culture like that's what it that's West winning looks like doing more not doing just a minimum doing as much as we can diving on the floor diving for loose balls everything there for the winning cook to look like how to stand shoes on doesn't matter if there was a clock issue they self entertain to the stands hey how come stand focus man this Jackson is going on tonight all right here we go five seconds off the clock he's bald and the point guard Cameron Langley one of the best mid major point guards in the country top ten nationally and almost seven assists a game they can't we didn't highlight at the open but this kid don't get a twist this kid is the last six games average 14 points per game one of the best passes in math like all cons basketball Z is the engine that makes the Aggies go Andre Jackson way off with that shot and here comes nc central Jordan Perkins at the controls getting to start a point guard second in assists in the league behind only language down low a turnover and here comes they can run hey good set in the pit Parker are you to the dunking sensation that is wet Langley does say Lee is in the paint and is always looking to find the open man that time you foul play park before the muster done and we get an offensive foul on Perkins can't leg you coming down the legs able to find a slashing wait for good you might see that's a lot two nice people [Applause] fouls going to be on Justin Watley on the illegal screen big concern for nc central was Langley they said we'd like to make him a scorer second possession for the Aggies and the solvent Langley to do as the maestro looking for hey go down low he gets tied up jump ball is the call possession arrow nc central you have a guy like laying that you playing against them the thing that Coach Martin kept talking about was Hill scored 12 points but then he'll also get 10 assists so really that's more like 20 that's Wayne County in three years doing like 25 but then on top of that if you look at the place where he passes to the people and get fouled then you look at almost 40 points so you had to turn over to the score at the little instead of a facilitator he got that that's what he does he's the injured nc central is going to want to slow the pace you know tonight here comes CJ Kaiser the Wichita State transfer back after missing two games with an ankle injury hickley the other way Parker catch and shoot Lee not there the first rebound for debris Blount who might be the favorite for me at player good Perkins nearly travel then he's out of control two offensive fouls early for NC central yeah I think it's a case of the nerves just nature biking game sometimes the emotions are running high they're mostly probably calmed down to the first media but that's why they're playing so out of control right now Parker another love this one for Ronald Jackson and the turnaround short by hey go to the glass transfer from Youngstown State [Applause] [Music] [Applause] full-court pressure now [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Langly marking parties Kaiser skip pass four turnovers oh really [Music] [Applause] they get setting the screen before Langley gets it back strong to the basket and a 600 slaves he'd open up hey that's a good sign but it's AMT team Devon hey good has struggled the last two games and then to get four quick easy points to grace our fantasy [Applause] [Music] [Applause] barkins nearly lost it again Devin Palmer driving to the basket nearly walk blocked from behind by Jackson three on the way in and out the power by Andre Jackson working at both ends you could say int came to play they are fired up and ready and eight Courbet away come back Myron Metcalfe will join us to shed some light on auntie's coaching situation [Music] happens all the time [Music] Willie Jones is the acting head coach for North Carolina A&T our courtside reporter Byron Metcalf has been following this story Byron what can you tell us about Willie Jones and the school is calling a personnel matter he is awaiting the results of a university review and until that happens there won't be any next steps for J Joyner but it sounded that this is sort of a bit of a mystery on campus everyone wants to know what's ahead and why the suspension took place in the first place J join I reached out there multiple times Willie Jones took over before the Illinois game in December 9 and 4 as the Aggies acting head coach Joyner was in his fourth season before the indefinite suspension and his Byron said no word was ever given on why he was suspended [Applause] back to the timeout Bob Lobel Moulton let's see if nc central can get on the brewery CJ Kaiser in traffic a shot there goodbye to believe belongs and fifth year senior they get a foul underneath [Applause] the down-low a lot of time they like to run that high-low with very very hard to stop quietly just picked up his second foul so the ECU transferred the bench and enter Evan Claiborne a transfer fee lien with a state like to bring what sigh graves all over Langley Elano Jackson trying to go inside - hey good and the turnover guys are a lot of dribbling Claybourne good finish [Applause] [Applause] Andre Jackson averages 14 a game in conference play kicks the line Jackson the three is good you mentioned Jackson to the openes averaging a double-double of the season Ronald Jackson is somebody we talked about earlier might be one of the best players in this conference has definitely made a new stride in his game that has led to sanity key to the break here that they have now there come the Aggies again Langly to Parker nine points now for NC A&T off of NC central turnovers [Applause] Kizer the rebound by Jackson Langly is just the so in control control of faith at his own pace at all con [Applause] [Music] foul on ty Graves is a stop to PC and st. Louis before coming to ANSI central graves marking Langley Parker again offensive rebound Jackson right now a bicyclist they did not come ready to play and I know Coach loading that this next time out you're going to get into the guys but this is not such a basketball bounce misfires ly bad Andre Jackson a lot of Jackson you're watching the maestro brothers Orchestra to perfection I love watching language but I'm a huge fan because he's always at controls you mentioned earlier and this kid finds the open guy at all time and play you go right wait not too many times he found a basketball player he know how to play basketball and that's what he does who does he remind you of anybody else you guys the first got a customer and he's not nearly as athletic but John Moran as far as business belongs we'll go to the line when you average 13 rebounds per game in conferences you must be boxed out in this time he was not boxed out Ronald Jackson that's what he does gamling one of the best passes in survival Jackson this it's putting on a clinic right now honestly when you have a player is unselfish is Langley who makes the extra pass and gets guys easy looks what does that do for the rest of the team does give you confidence because you know whenever you're open at all times the point guard is going to find that was a shooting guard I didn't play point guard so the shooting guard one of the biggest things I look for is a point guard who can give me easy buckets and always hit me on time on target when I'm open cuz with your own [Applause] basketball player pretty good one at the free-throw line in debris blunts he is one of the leading candidates for Conference Player of the Year his dad his former Steelers grace and full Football Hall of Famer Mel Blanc's one of the best DBS in the history of the NFL and part of that great Steel Curtain and to watch Blount there is certainly a football flavor to his game it has to occur this way before my father way before Jackson again six straight it's made by North Carolina A&T like Melvin who wanted black into the game for NC central flames he's got the green light offensive rebound playboy who stepped out of bounds there is the great Mel Blanc Hall of Famer dad of debris Blanc the fifth year senior began his career at Cleveland State go through the annals of football and hard-pressed to find too many for Hawking babe is better than golf once [Applause] Langly he's able to draw the foul breathe blood first in points second in steals 14 rebounds shooting 55 more than half their shots of money in it this kid is a special player for this central team Fred Cleveland the inbound leave from the 510 155-pound freshman out of Chicago he's had some big moments for ncnc this season that is off of Langley and they say he touched it first to show a backcourt violation one thing my coach always told me when I was playing early leads me nothing it's 20 central would get back into this basketball game because early leaves maybe the game is too long and they will make shots never get back into the game right now he's big come prepared they got a full of stars once the line is basketball everybody makes a run everybody made for basketball is a game of riots sometimes some people won this keep going it don't stop some people and stop really quickly but basketball is the gang who runs in you seriously sit there make meltem graves blunting the high post Leybourne muscling inside and he triples [Applause] NC Central's labelled Moton has an inspiring story he gave a TED talks about it he'll enlighten us with his coaching philosophy when we come back [Music] you Lee ESPN's exclusive presentation of college basketball is presented by boost mobile step up with boost mobile and get a super reliable superfast Network and it parts by Sheba what cats watch that was the line to get in to the Corbett Sports Center all Club Corbett is missing his velvet ropes and a bouncer pathetic at lavell bolton he's the visiting coach from NC central and inspiring story from his TED Talks his life philosophy and I just looked him dead in his face and I said basketball is a game games aren't meant to be fun ain't no fun than losing so you might as well win [Applause] and the context there was when he was interviewing for the NC central head coaching job he was asked what is your philosophy and those words that he just heard they were from his grandma he means so much to him and she is really the subject of that TED talks it was his grandma who told him that when he was just a kid and he said I really didn't have an answer so I went with what grandma taught me but there is a lot of truth in what you just heard sheelane tea with another great past but there's a lot of keep in there basketball is not fun when you're losing and I mean if somebody would have told me that answer in the interview that might be by God cuz I like that he wants to win he cares about when he cares about building the culture and you can see that's what he does three straight titles and 20 he does not wanna he wants to have fun for anyways like he's like it's now the name of the TED talks was my grandma's basketball truth nice move but once mari-chan spend the week with the North Carolina sit the team learn a lot about coach Bolton one of the things he missed in that TED talk was he made his team play a game of musical chairs when he first arrived and that numbers went down to 86 blondie played their favorite song when we got down to the last guy he said congratulations you're the winner everyone seemed surprised okay yeah we want to get more chairs but then comes mom said listen what do you think the game's gonna be like with their ability guys we're trying to get to the NBA and only 35 spots that looks a lesson there and those are the kinds of lessons that coach Bowman it's always trying to instill in young men yeah I don't think people realize take it from a guy who is just in these seats last year I just got done playing college basketball people don't realize how hard it actually is to make the EPA let alone how hard it is to play overseas people don't realize there's not that many spots and that is we really do the math they look at the numbers and almost impossible and it's even more impossible to to play in college in that division level is very hard and anybody who can do it and it's his respect to anybody clay Parker draws the foul speaking of the NBA if so the all-star break finally a break for the water and that all-star game hunt defense watch shots but they go at it for real again and games that count in the standings on Friday Nuggets Thunder and then Zion and the pelicans against the Blazers and speaking of NBA all-stars one in the house BAM caballo who is from just up the road in High Point goddamn also when the seals contest hey you did his thing in that got it down put a big man he did go back to your point though about the lesson for musical chairs when most guys come out of high school this matter who they are they all think they're going to the wheel right I mean that I've been fighting live said if you look at look at the guys who were top 100 everybody in the top 100 things today everyone's an idiot that was you at one point I'll end up being number 36 but no I thought I was going to the NBA but then you look at the guys who are neon top 100 the guys after that they still did they're going to the NBA and I feel like so many times it's the people in your ear giving you a false reality giving you false expectations then it doesn't add up so then once you realize you're not going to the NBA that's when it leads to bigger things like depression or mental health issues because you feel like you build anybody's expectations up foul on Fred Cleveland I would imagine though on an internal level that's got to be a hard realization because you probably dreamt of that your whole life in here you are you went to a school like Baylor playing my major college basketball against the best that should be a goal and that should be a dream you don't want that reality check I mean - but for me it was more of my heart disease committing me but look for a lot of guys is just work ethic it's just not being there fully dealing with distraction is just a whole lot of things that goes into play that you know being a pro is more than just getting buckets and scoring on the basketball court being a pro stems from what you'd be off the court you go to class people the right way the person that's what really the NBA is being about those guys handled that business and they take everything seriously meanwhile Kevin Papa he's been one of the better three-point shooters for NC central just picked up his shank as a foul don't stay in the game however at the free-throw line the sophomore from a medieval in Long Island Tyrone Lions that is the same a medieval where the a medieval horror movie if the other watched a because I know nothing about that [Applause] how about CJ Kaiser cold-blooded the Wichita State transfer hey welcome back CJ kind of here that's what this hit the team need especially right now being down 12 he missed the last two but was coming off back to that 20-point games prior great feed inside and hey goodness fires hurricanes he up with a head nearly stepping around this way spinel thanks missed opportunity in transition CJ Kaiser back-to-back 2020 games before he got hurt that's what he does he gets buckets and they will need his buckets tonight they want to win in the dog pound pack now Seward Club Corbett one of the best home court advantage --is in all of Division one and you've got the crib so far you'll get more of a glimpse as this game goes on let me make another highlight duck or a highlight play in this place war erupted [Applause] there's Perkins here's on pace to become the all-time assist leader at ensign central wiped away by lions now Jackson ahead of the pack Parker drops it off to Jackson who follows his shot he just plays it such a high motor decide you missed the shot got it right back because his motor is so hot and that's that's what a lot of people not talk to the assistant coach at Morgan State because man he said that all the top players you think the Ronald Jackson might have the most Pro potential [Applause] once got poked in the eye it appears so play was stopped one of the things Willie Jones told us about Ronald Jackson he gets his points and you don't have to run offense more yeah and that that's headed to the high motor that he has because coaches love guys who can score and you don't have to drop something for them so then you're not drawing up players for them they're still content because they know that they're going to get still get that bucket because there's a lot of guys out there that if you're not drawing plays for them they don't want to play for you and coaches love guys like Ronald Jackson who can know their role and still work within their role and not kind of overstep their boundaries or overshadow other people you were never one of those guys though never never one of those guys [Applause] Super Tuesday tomorrow Purdue Wisconsin big 10 Battle of teams trying to stay off the bubble that's it seven and nine it's Kentucky and LSU have gotten Rouge unless you starting to slip a little bit lost to bandy and a blowout loss to Alabama over the weekend [Music] Kizer shot blocked Lions snatches it out of the air here comes Cleveland [Applause] and see auntie has cooled off after the hot start [Applause] Jackson grazed the rim on a long plane [Music] hover back iron Cleveland of the rebounded Abby's push you can tell how much they miss Langley who's not on the floor right now yeah cuz Langley just sets up offerings for everybody right now Greg Cleveland is more of a school he's like the opposite of Lang Lang he the past first and that is what Langley does he a they would have facilitate for others Kaiser picks up his second foul the ninth team fell already at MC central elite [Music] with the recent announcement that North Carolina is going to join the big south and it said stop the hill then let it director about this major Foods for this University I'd let me I get to the big sound they said look this isn't just a basketball move this is about every sport at this institution benefited from the resources that are available to the schools in the Big South that's why the move was made however there are certain people who are attached to this league and this rivalry you're watching right now who are wondering if we're going to see the last of North Carolina A&T against North Carolina Central what happens with the MEAC overall in the future a number of concerns outside of North Carolina look a lot amt about what this move means for everybody involved that's a vehicle already lost Hampton a few years ago Savannah States from town to Division two last year free throw no good by Andre Jackson that's one of the big weaknesses for NC A&T and they get to the free-throw line 61% as a team this is what North Carolina antes Chancellor had to say Harold Martin the move makes great sense for student athletes for fans and for our bottom line we will always have a place in our hearts for the vs can we look forward to what the new conference will make possible for the Aggies but am i renew who to do it what does this mean for the future wondering and questioning you see the atmosphere here talk to one member of the MEAC and he said look we're concerned about what this all means going forward Magistrale like that I mean I think it's a good move for definitely for the program going to a bigger conference but like you said you missed out on rivalry games like this but I still think if I'm them I'm still working no Carolina sense in my schedule every single year and honestly the game might be even better because instead of it being twice a year it's only one time of year so the game might be better three shots coming for Ronald Jackson and CJ Kaiser picked up his third foul the other aspect here is that identity politics is at play in the sense that the B's is an HBCU conference and then football goes drive the bus North Carolina A&T is very successful on the football front winning HBC of championships recently you lose some of that you lose some of the identity of black college football and black college basketball yeah I think would you hear about power five expansion this is the end result this is the domino effect when a league like the Big South comes in and they invite a North Carolina A&T a number of smaller leads are in this situation where they're trying to figure out if we don't have our anchors the North Carolina A&T is certainly an anchor for the Mia what do we do next what's our next move and how do we survive [Applause] Tiger eggs and Evan Claybourne back in for nc central Ronald the Jackson one of the better free throw shooters on this amt team into one of the fascinating things is Jackson's is 78% free-throw shooter the other four starters of 55% and below man if that's my team that's all with no we're not leaving practice to everybody makes ten free throws in a row at least 61% as a team bottom 10 and division anomalies triple team down low and Palmer sneaks it through I remember right away I got that because group yeah used to have a thing if you didn't shoot I started sending a free throw line yeah it's part of the free throw Club you can't walk out the gym until you make it at least fikret those in a row in fortunately I was never in the free throw but you don't wanna shoot him but something to my teammates would be in the gym hour after practice trying to make these reserved [Music] and we get a foul [Applause] first well on Tyler May again a reminder Super Tuesday tomorrow Purdue and Wisconsin both looking to stay off the bubble that game it's seven that it's Kentucky and LSU at the Maravich Center at nine I played a thriller when they played earlier this month I could pass there by Palmer it's intercepted now Langley back here there's the law the Parker did not hang on to it this place was ready to erupt graves driving kick back to glades open for three layoffs as good basketball go active hands down roll foul on the floor Paro is part of the scuffle for the loose ball [Applause] [Applause] look at the top six in the SEC for a while you thought maybe LSU maybe Albarn right Kentucky back on top as usual yeah burning bridges are not being ranked right now is that's crazy one time if they thought people thought they were the best team in America South Carolina meanwhile has made a late push altering the SEC Frank Martin before the season was telling folks Ted this game's God's team this year is more talented than the one that went to the Final Four a few years ago so interesting story on the board they beat us in the sweet 16 actually number one in the country that year and we messed up with them it was just the bad medicine there he is going well that guy but it's okay I forgive them but they ruin our chances at the national champions this was I think team I was on that your Xfinity net CAD we now ran into Frank Martin is in the Gamecock have a very good failure as well quick little photo bomb [Music] I've been to a lot of places to play basketball I've been to Allen Fieldhouse in Kansas and I've been to Bridget our state and I really felt like this might be the key one of these best ideas I have ever seen a cop basketball and I'm not just saying that because we're here this really is like MIT well just wait now [Applause] when Langley's on the floor everything comes easier for this offense [Applause] Cameron Langley we talked about them a little bit makes the game easier look rays are on don't fight feel the way you dish it now time when that is what this young man does one of the most underrated spy cars in all of college basketball and then that you need to know because this guy can play basketball well this is a tough spot debris blonde just picked up his second foul so he goes to the bench that's NC Central's best player still four and a half to go in this first half and the Aggies looking to extend a 17 his ability to get off the ground let the fun go stick this jump is so quick and that translates over to the professional style of basketball 16 points in the first half for Ronald to Jackson he's outscored the opposition by himself Bobby's three waves out [Applause] Lyons hits the assist by who else damn late [Music] Ronald Jackson oh you mixed well I'm here to clean it up rise up with a duck quick bounce Ronald Jackson everybody [Music] the essence exclusive presentation of college basketball and brought to you by Wendy Corbett SportsCenter officially known or I should say unofficially known as there was a sort of pregame hustling flow in games Langley is honestly this kid is talented he has a skill passing the skill there's not something everybody can do trust me I know I play with us new guys who couldn't do it both of these teams are teams capable of winning the MEAC and and that's an automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament and a cam Langley and the Aggies will represent the MEAC in the NC double-a tournament we're gonna foul some Daris Maddox if the team like NC A&T would get into the NCAA tournament with a point guard like Langley they become dangerous because we know guards will march yeah for sure if this keep getting it to the incident with a tournament like he just says to your point cam Langley whenever you're playing with against a point guard like him he may see become like scouting becomes hard because you don't know like you can stop playing but the camel is on the court there's no set play whenever he gets into the paint he's going to always locate the open person so playing against a team like him but a team with his no ability is gonna be hard especially for 18 in Mattson especially where the Year upsets in a year where anybody could beat anybody again the Aggies are probably looking at a 15 16 seed at ranch so highly unlikely but again in this type of season where we expect March to be madder than usual that's a guy you don't want to play now I definitely would not want to see him just because of his passing ability and he can also score we keep forgetting about that but the kid can get to the cup he down shoot the three well when he can get to the cup he could score 1997 Townsend State as a 15 seed start to South Carolina Hampton taking down Iowa State that was in 2001 that was the Marcus pfizer team and an Norfolk State over Missouri eight seasons ago for years we put the freshman is a street three-point shooter largest lead for AMT it's something definitely the expectancy No [Applause] open three deposit slip for Nikolas for them so you know that struggling lick Finnell does not score the ball and it's primarily a defensive player and he's banked in the three C's you're struggling for buckets right now he's now fathered twenty six foot three and that's one way to get back to the game fast break basket by Perkins who averages 70 game they're making Langley's give it up in the backcourt yes I mean I think that's that's smart I think how you defend a guy like like Langley is you make him when he tell them to pick a roll you don't help you allow him to go get the bucket go to knock him to score cuz it Langley scores 20 and doesn't have maybe have like one or two assists then you win now when he gets like 12 13 plus 12 assists then that's when you're losing rough possession for Cleveland who just badly on a long three heading nowhere close on the way up Langley has no who's looking for the trailer it wasn't there a pushing foul oh I'm Fidel now they're gonna separate players fool that's funnier the trailer you know me I'm surprised that nobody has it that's me I'm going to get the ball maybe two guys going to get the ball instead of two guys looking like Oh who's that - no sir I'm getting that bar I'm going to get a bucket lion - 71 percent free-throw shooter [Applause] the Aggies have led by as many as 24 one out of two and it will stay with 1800 who else Ronald Jackson making plays that he shouldn't make because of his motor because of his neck for the basketball Langley and Jack's should have been the dynamic duo Langley's got six helpers Jackson 16 points six rebounds here in the first half [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] that's unacceptable that's just bad defense you know he's not gonna shoot the three back up do not let him get to the papers when he gets to the paint chaos is created that's bad defense by central symphonies to wake up in the darkness hats honest now we're gonna foul a one on one coming for NC central great pass by Langley but that's it's too easy you disallowing a guy one of the best passers in the country to just get it to the creases and find other people it's never going to be good for you it is this building those are juice points those towns like that the crowd gets into it the crowd starts going crazy then it's harder to play it's harder to focus harder they hear your coach which makes it harder for you to go down and execute so you cannot allow those plays without a lot of guys and Langley to dominate you get where he wants when you planet Baylor who is the guy that when he made a basket it was instant momentum and home games for our team for the other team for guilty [Applause] [Music] my last year I think it was probably myself I'm a cop mazing I think one of us we we hit a shot but I scored a lot I scored about us would let the Kaiser but everybody's kind of used to see in the cops cooler but I think if I hit a three or something like that the crowd would get more into it because they lighten the other person but doggone it people like me about a ten-second the differential between game clock and shot clock Cleveland back to Langley five to shoot three from the wing Jackson keeps it alive battle for the rebound [Applause] and it belongs to ensign central ten seconds to go this opening half Aggies by 20 Hotel Moulton who was worried about tempo he said we have to dictate Mason Blaine Willie Jones told us the opposite he said if we can rod and push weird control of so far advantage to Willie Jones his team yeah a problem coach more than this half I gotta wake my guys up we got to get them corner because we're not going outside like this [Music] for in C central Cameron Langley at seven assists in Jackson close to a double-double already Aggies by 20 big Monday presented by boost mobile big first half Carolina A&T the blue enjoyed the marching machine part of the acoustics here in Corbin he got a DJ kick McCoy is dressed to the occasion I should have wore the toilet oh you look good though I like the Glazer you like the place baby FC central was out of place they got clubbed in that first half how do the Eagles get back into this down well we saw the first half is not sinful basketball lady with everything right when it starts on the defensive is they must get stopped because right now they can score it offers to be challenged right now they must set their defense plan it to offer it and they'll get back into the game now let's check in with violet Metcalfe in the heart [Applause] [Music] [Music] the last admired Medcalf cameron Langley would open Andre Jackson bounces back to Langley he thought about it no fire off the mark that's not his game just three of 13 from three entering play yeah that's not really a strong suit I think that's the next level to his game he's such a great passer such a great leader he needs to be able to get a consistent jump shot he could get that that takes his game to a whole nother level only a junior still has another year Parker lost it it comes back to Jackson Ronald E Jackson now down low Ronald Jackson 18 points 7 rebounds there's no way you get beat on a 50/50 bar and give up with another offensive rebound and then you give up a wide-open lob to a guy first they have to get off their zone second they need to wake up and play they like that you want to be out there right now that basket is good you just make it 4222 Nizer hey good at the other end comes back to Andre Jackson how many times has Ronald of Jackson caught one of those lobs had got in for an easy dunk for at least them is too many times that is unacceptable defense from this entity oh there you go again hey good a chance for three-point play a name you need to know to wanna hit potential react fans of the Year Mark Jackson that's just bad defense there's no ball pressure on Langley you allowing him to see the full point and then the big man is out of what he's doing right now central needs to wake up but clearly they have not woken up in this first media nearly a lane violation and hey good hits the free throw Myron you talked to the coaches what did you find out yeah thanks what I said what did you tell your team at halftime he said I told that I can't coach fear he said these guys are scared and it's not a whole lot that I can do about that he just seemed really frustrated by the fact that they just haven't had the energy he anticipated coming into this guy my freshman year going into Allen Fieldhouse never ever ever seen in the vironment like their first conference game I go into the game we're already down by 20 their place is rocking it's going crazy I didn't want to be out there like literally I was like literally me and my other freshman counterpart Jake Lindsay we were like coach what he wants to do with now about 20 the places were crazy and that's what he means he can't coach pitch you have to go out there and just give it your all but go out there to make plays because the see once you start making plays everything will start coming to you that the game comes to you right now he's right you can't coach fear and not even fear you can't coach effort not even Clinton tan regular defense sounds aren't gonna fall in the game but too deep it's something that cannot go up boy down it has to be consistent an NC Central's built pretty good defensive team most of the season Langley says ok I'll try to do it another rebound by Jackson who's tied up a foul on the floor if that's Blanc that's his third and that is three he got in foul trouble in the first half had to come out of the game with the best forward a half minutes to go now picks up number three at the 1732 marker he'll stay in where had he blocked out he went even picked up the top because he would have the bar and look tell you what if Ronald Jackson wins me at player beer he owes Cameron Langley a nice dinner it may be a few 22 points 7 rebounds for Jackson Langley's got 10 helpers Kizer with the three he's got ten and he's really been the lone source of offense for Henze central yes seems like he's the only player that came to play there's not scary like like like coach said of the foul on etsy central this time Perkins his second three team fouls they got into the bonus early in the first half [Applause] Ronald Jackson setting the screen for Andre Jackson they tried it again now on the one out Perkins drops it off to blunt I've gotten away with something there yes that was ages to move who got Perkins wet resident calling Parker again the Aggies just quick of all the 50/50 balls Langley down-low puts it in your right the effort hasn't been there the hostile eyes have been there it's not what we expect from NC Central which is a hard-nosed defensive team yeah like I got said mentioned earlier no you-you-you can coach X's and O's you can you can't really control the shop they're gonna go in but defense was something that you should never be able to question that's what always defense and effort the two things that you should always bring you step on the sport and see centrally was number one and defensive efficiency in the MEAC entering the game palmer draws the foul Willie Jones his team [Music] what's in your wallet when TIG McClure and Marvin Japanese drop Willie Jones the interim head coach the acting head coach North Carolina A&T Jay Joyner has been suspended indefinitely this is now Jones's fourteenth game as head coach Myron upin following this story what's changed since Jones took two hours at two and half hours I'll trust you that hard work seems like it approaches steam after James was suspended it's working for this crew what are the chances jig joiner coaches this team again don't a conversation with Aaron Hill and it sounds like the next step is the university review process and they'll decide from there so that answer is one that we but I can tell you this the longer this thing goes the less likely it seems you'll see them again and it's been a a situation and a suspension without a lot of details no reason has been given for Jay Joanna's suspension all we know is that he's been suspended indefinitely it started in late December Lily Jones has been the acting head coach Jim now listen up until about a week ago this Aggies team was 8 1 in conference they lost two straight entering today but those were road games in conference yeah it's interesting history story but the team did not let you see a three-way function the team did not let the coaches suspicions change who they are and change how they play Willie Jones has done a great job with this team taking over [Applause] this is me wait I thought he's got a nice dunk but you can't look at the guy and puts a finger to his mouth when you're down about 21 I've had this other stuff you can't celebrate me you down by 21 you celebrate you with it but you celebrate I mean you can but it's not going to go over well probably with your own team as much as the other team good done as we just posed to be he's supposed to go out there and dunk but you really suppose do is win a basketball game get back on defense hey good and the rebound by proper a Perkins and C central picking up the pace a little bobber for three no good he did not attempt to three non-conference who's actually been a pretty good three-point shooter and they play [Applause] [Music] Watley Corral's the rebound east carolina transfer kids around parker drops it off to blunts following his shot in there with the three fouls from the corner off the head - hey good the Royal is good for motifs in the bonus because he has struggled the past two games so anything you get from him I offensively it's a good sign for this thing arcade strong to the limbs Arnold Jackson troubles to the floor [Applause] you know a hood is leaving the floor at the other end leading from the chin so he is going to the locker of the treatment [Applause] kind of 11 from the field for Jackson Steve second to the conference and rebounding kid plays above the rim we've seen that today does Taekwondo we were talking about eating healthy earlier Jackson is on a plant-based diet plant-based diet [Applause] a nutritionist but what does that consist no space like what is an example of the food I can't even pick them look like like lettuce or spinach me I would never ever ever ever ever ever eat a plant-based diet tell you what I mean he looks good it's a chiseled physique he does any credit to him he's wrong I like fried chicken too much Capra paste I've got I'll go over to my grandma Gosselaar to wedding and you eat little to do that over there [Applause] Kaiser's got a dozen to lead nc central they stare at a 22 point deficit first of two meetings this season nc central has been the team to beat in this conference no goodbyes Watley 10 of the n-c-double-a tournament four of the last six years down the floor nc central has won this league three years in a row this is one of these leagues where it's a 1-bit lead so it's what happens and the conference tournament three by graves is good sigh graves began his career at Boston College with starting as a freshman and then supplanted in the starting lineup by some guy named Kai Bolden now on the drive by Cleveland don't forget about Norfolk State initially there at seven and two in conference but the two losses have come to central na and - yeah credit to coach Marion at Morgan State one of my guys he's done a good job over there getting a lot of transfers they actually got Troy Baxter from UNLV but a MEAC is really competitive the Miette gives a really good lead that not too many people talk about Marino good by Lyons we go foul Langley and Perkins collide as we told the NC Central's is one four of the last six tournament titles including three in a row Hampton won at the 2016 2 2015 they've since we've gone from the league leaving for the Big South in 2017 North Carolina A&T last made the NC double-a tournament in 2013 but it's impressive again NC central is it seemed that if they have Randy Miller different story he was first team all-conference last year that returning scores once is fouled Tyler may picked up the foul entre Jackson gives Langley for either 11 assists seven rebounds seven points for Langley who is flirting with the triple-double let's seem right now that's a good will or the offense pain not Alayne years not over 40 our Myron Metcalf spent some time with nc central went on a road trip took the bus he has some stories which you'll share when we come back [Music] eally ESPN's exclusive presentation of college basketball is brought to you by Wendy's to try a big bacon classic see central logged a lot of miles on the road especially in non-conference or Myron Metcalf the joy it was more interesting and fun experiences I've ever had during my career at ESPN we went from Wofford Georgia Central and it was just amazing to see how much work these guys put in on those road trips I was amazed by how much they do these guys were studying on the bus taking exams you had coaches here watching film on the bus and then they get off and they practice they try to find food fast food joints there was pizza joint that they convinced to keep open late at night and they all crashed it and got a bunch of pizzas one time it was just an amazing experience and I've never been more fatigued fellows that I was when I spent the week with that team got a lot of respect for guys like you King and the work you put in and college basketball and this group depth with something last week their bus broke down on a trip for Morgan State and instead of calling a repairman someone googled the owners manual for the bus and they found a switch to override the system to stop the engine from cutting off back on the road these guys have to do things like that in order to keep their program going my guess is a lot of power five schools I've never experienced anything close to that yeah to your point the utmost respect for programs not in the power five because of what they go through it's not easy to bus to all the games and to constantly have to do things like Myron just said that's not easy at all then on top of that you have to focus on winning a basketball game you're trying to get to from one place to the next place because you let's go down but then you have to also worry about winning the basketball game that's not easy have the utmost respect for programs who do that fourth foul on Kaiser would hit the three or the may completes a three point play at the other end let's be honest King you were telling me before the game you hated riding the bus period yeah charter flights I'm ants it's just a dip two different worlds and that's why I say have the utmost respect because I'm not a cousin I've never seen and to hear stories like that something that I'm just like I get blown away I can't fathom having to do that game in game out so that's why I respect level for these guys are so hot cuz I've never experienced that but here it is not seem like someone as waters good let's see Central has logged more than 4,000 miles by bus this season great splashes down to three C Central is one one away from getting within striking distance in the midst of an 11-3 wrongful that guy who extended the coach in love Elmo who doesn't mind being called Grandma's Boy and I told my grandma I said grandma the light the lighters went off for me I'm gonna use this basketball I'm gonna take care you're gonna buy you there's a big house and get you this nice fancy car and she looked me directly in my face and she said I want you to know something the two most important days of your life is to data to a boy and the data to figure out why and when you leave this earth if people remember you as a basketball player then you've done a poor job of living his grandma's advice permeates lulubelle bolt his grand mouth is alive in the dull bolt and you see that that was part of his TED Talks which was called my grandma's basketball truth-finding life questions that his way and even a paternal figure for him he told us his dad left when he was four in his dad's dad had left his father he wanted to break that cycle land must set such a great example as a role model for [Applause] the game the way he taught them to TED talk is the way he talks in his everyday life and so he has so much wisdom and he is a young guy didn't want to talk at all because I just wanted to to listen to him and gain knowledge because he's a very very wise man and the way he talked on a TED talk is how he talks in real life and he he's somebody who I inspired and look up to honestly I got his number afterwards and I told him that you know you really inspired me and I hadn't even known you that long but you've inspired me as a man so when nc central won its first MEAC championship 2014 there was a great shot captured by our ESPN cameras at the end of the day we'll go Bolton crying and people asked him why were you crying that Meowth Championship at the end of the game and he said I heard my grandma's voice that was the voice that he heard in that clowning remember this was a guy when he took the job it wasn't like he had universal support even though he was an alum and a decorated we're coaching credentials and head coaching preventers especially at the major college level so people were skeptical he beat an ACC team within five years have taken the job five years into the job he beat NC State out to be in a TED talk was when he first got the job that let the that lens director basically wanted him to go with some people who were not a big fan of the choice to hire him and he told the I let it director that he was not going to do that because he doesn't want to prove a thing to anybody in he's not gonna please everybody in the same he said they talked about Jesus so of course they're gonna talk about him and that's very true at the Parker wait Parker YouTube sensation sawing off his hops right now give me that this is a kid who was a four-star recruit out of high school went to Tennessee played in 25 games as a freshman for the Vols raves comes up empty and went to junior college Cape Fear before coming to North Carolina A&T you know what his Twitter handle is boy I jump too much now useful literally sitting there and watches watches YouTube videos why did you choose duck splash big guy only six feet tall yeah yeah but if you can these dunks that he used to do were absolutely bleep crazy now you watch that free-throw by language 54% and that's one of the reasons one of the criticisms against him and we're nitpicking sometimes he goes to the rim he can be too unselfish you wonder if that's part of it because you know you're not a good free-throw shooter yes but I think now I just think that that's the next level for his name because when you look at terms of pros potential he can pass that Neeley great like a pro he controlled the game he could manage the game but he just can't shoot and I think that guy's got a hindering him from being a pro as you see great hustle on the court but I feel like that that's gonna hinder him if anything him is his game that's what hitters his game can take you to the next level [Music] Parker just resumed the foul 17 point lead for the Aggies of NC A&T against since central first of two meetings this Susan don't blame Durham on marks the fifth and that arena will be just as charged as it is today maybe not as lit as a dog pound but it'll probably be closed for sure baby that's the game it'll be on ESPNU on March 5th and the MEAC championship will be on espn2 on March 14th [Music] [Applause] [Music] once we get to the weekend with three weekends away from selection someday have anything feel real but I get to by superfans you see your Baylor Bears looking at a number one seed and potentially the number one overall seed right now they are the consensus best team in the country yeah I agree I think they're the best team in the country and not just because I went there but it's true I mean they have a big game this Saturday gift kansas that'll definitely be able to determine a lot right there what they do on Saturday against what they are and Kansas is Ronna top with this 12 nearly traveled a reach-in foul on Jackson 744 to go in regulation North Carolina A&T [Music] you looks in your wallet [Music] you know with the food to the bit south of North Carolina auntie one of the concerns is what to see behind me will they lose the environment you get from somebody's Meowth games the North Carolina Central North - I that is what some of the alums of this conference are worried about but you also looked at what I did with North Carolina Center on the road with them going the fast food joints traveling thousands of miles by bus she hopes to avoid that with the move to the Big South that talked athletic director Earl Hillman he said this move is about resources for every program and our University it's going to help all it significantly will cut down on travel next July so one more season in the MEAC for NC central and this is a founding member in hurts or I should say NC A&T a founding member and they've had athletic prowess in a number of sports are renowned a track and field program a woman's college basketball men's college hoops college football it's a blow to the me actions it's a blow for that the future livelihood of this conference yeah definitely anytime you lose a power in your conference I'd be like the big 12 Beeler anytime you do the power of cow in your conference the deadly is a blow but they see int credit to them because that's a smart move is a good move for the school in a program [Applause] [Applause] offensive foul is the Carlon Fenella landscape of the big south end there is a decidedly Carolina flavor here Virginia as well I'm happy to be part of that and July 2021 rare miss for running Jackson because what a talented shop 24 points for Jackson tonight one for three [Applause] Byron for the game he was dominant he hopes the rivalry remains even if it's a one-game thing going forward but I've also talked to other members of North Carolina Central who said they're concerned that North Carolina Carolina auntie will walk this stone forward against the balls kind of in their court so it'll be interesting to see what happens going forward but know North Carolina central post to preserve this rival I look at basketball and Missouri at pick 12 to the SEC we have the game where this goes one of the best rival is can you and Missouri in the betrayal that in all of college basketball yeah yeah you know that was one of the right that was one of the best round especially you look back to days like steal press e down a space invader but that was a great rivalry in you know a lot of people who a lot of Kansas fans out of Missouri fans wish that they still had that game all know why they don't do it but that would be good for the sport I believe they've gotten that back come to Sports Center tonight after Iowa State and Kansas with Kenny main and mauka leaves I'll go talk to former Kansas big mansion on three plus going away talks retirement and family nickels and post-race reactions at the Daytona 500 dampen Langley rules lift they're coming off the court we're gonna stop out on 553 presentation of college basketball who smuggles step up with boost for King and I this has been our first trip here at Club Corbett and the atmosphere King we were told we're going to see things tonight you've never seen in a basketball game and somehow that was it under self man oh man I've seen a lot of this in high school it brings back to my school days but at Baylor you would see none of this as a chip and Joanna wanted dancing in the aisles not even a little bit he's got 26 [Applause] the issue for NC central here is the margin being what it is and it was a 20-point game at halftime you're not forced to play faster yeah that plays into the hands of your opponent yeah cuz AFC is definitely the fastest pace team an HSN she'd like to take their time sometime you see in past games they'll run it all the way down to the very last second where the shot clock so now you getting out your element you're not playing central basketball what makes you good now you're trying to play it like you said into the hands of you apone it like like you see so now they're forced to trying to give buckets at a quick rate because they're down by somewhere smooth jumper by waves timeout without me it's a 13-point game central time or order [Music] and spilled all over itself coming off the clock this game was 20 to 200 and that's through the mountain and the Eagles who [Music] naturally intimidation by the environment it's been the story of the game yeah it's possible but if they were to pull this off that would be pretty incredible could it be a pretty impressive comeback if they ever deployed it's all not just a bad free-throw shooting team weren't the worst to Division one and Langley percent free-throw shooter you know it might not be a bad idea you know and you get to the hack-a-shaq there might not be a bad idea right now to get yourself back in the game get yourself more possessions maybe they can't make the free throws make them become a score which is what the coach talked about is giving the game goes Mon talked about they need to do but it might not be a bad idea for this City team to get back in this game outside of Jackson there's really not a good free-throw shooter on the floor for North Carolina A&T Kaiser he's got four fouls he's been their leading scorer graves for three Parker lost it it comes to Langley who is 1 points where I should say one rebound now away from a triple double I found right now I'm foul right now I get the bar back kick to the corner add the three good by Maddox get out answer and Langley has himself the second triple-double of the season that is impressive he talked about a little bit in highlight of them and he's shown he's showing everybody why [Applause] [Music] [Applause] lately you talked about its housing split the defense draw the contact cameron langley one of the best point guard out there you limit as a defense you are never ever safe when cam Langley is on the court that's a plethora since tonight is finding everybody he will expose your weaknesses exposing this matches but that's not all he can do you can get to the rim he can finish you contact you got a good shooter but doesn't need to be with your pack and get to the cup like he can Clinic tonight and he continues to do so a triple-double for Langley and a chance to add to it at the free-throw line not a bad homecoming he's a Greensboro kid so local kid [Applause] at three Falls 7350 for [Music] [Applause] guarded by Perkins who's also from Greensboro that's where we are tonight the Corbett Sports Center home of the dog pound biomed calf has made a lot of friends there tonight Langly lot of follow by Maddox in the shot clock violation hey Super Tuesday tomorrow Purdue and Wisconsin and the rugged Big Ten and then John Calipari is Kentucky Wildcats go to Baton Rouge to take on LSU matchup between two of the top teams in the SEC they played last year February 12th 7371 a thriller unless you won that game [Applause] [Music] Jackson the turnaround yes Nancy on its way and they're going to improve to nine and three in conference central will fall to eight 3 that means Norfolk State by default as Homer Simpson said two greatest words in the English language defaults Norfolk State will move into the top spot in the MEAC run both of these teams have the tiebreaker is it's Norfolk State and you just get the sense you're gonna see a different end when they play in Durham next month and we may see these two again in the MEAC tournament possibly the MEAC championship yeah I mean as great as their plan what it ultimately comes down to is one game one game in the tournament could make you break your season you can have a great season but get to the MEAC tournament that's what it has to come out that's win the best yet for your best basketball taking one game out of time and really produce this it really doesn't matter what you do in the regular season you can be conference champion you could be on defeat of the few losing that conference tournament in a league like the MEAC and you're staying home and you're going to the NIT watch that kick McCarney shrub Byron met capper courtside reporter first of two meetings of the season between a and T and nc central so late again next month in Durham Jackson State Prairie View A&M follows our game little swag ssin on this monday night I like what you did the lift swak swak should [Applause] sigh graves no the rebound pulled down by Shane Scruggs graves from the outside another rebound by Langley who's got 11 boards to go along with 12 assists and a dozen points 14 hairy Maurice 611 freshman for Scotland in the game for the Aggies Maddox John the backdoor cut Lavelle Moton is gonna get after his team about what's happened with those lobs and layups at the rim man the problem lavell Modan tomorrow we are watching this game from start to finish because it effort wasn't there it's not like they missed shots and they got beaten gonna knows your effort wasn't there period so I'm watching this whole game start to finish and we're gonna get in better shape tomorrow listen you played college basketball just last year Taylor what's the difference when you come off the game where you don't like NC central today versus a game where you're right there and you know a couple things go awry and you lose close but you played hard what's the difference in practice way a lot so when you don't bleed not play hard that's when the coach gets it's um it's the most frustrated that's when you do extra running that's when you do it punishment that's that's when your coach is more strict on you if it's minor tweaks that he can adjust you'll still work on in practice whatever the little areas you need to work on to get better but when your effort isn't there that's when practice becomes you know just super intense and that's when basically practice is just something you don't want to be a part of honest not all losses are treated the shame yeah yeah not our losses the same and good coaches can tell the difference between good losses and bad losses and what they need to fix but it's the biggest thing for central that's how they respond to this how are they going into next game will this affect them going into next game or were they just dust this off and have short-term memory loss now the next game is against Maryland Eastern Shore the back end of the schedule saved really for the game against NC Bethune Cookman is pretty forgiving for nc central you got Maryland Eastern Shore Paulo to South Carolina State all teams you should be go play again in Durham but tonight from the get-go it was all Aggies back in the win column after dropping to straight North Carolina Central sees its five game win streak come to an end and how fun was it to be here tonight our first time in this building club Corbett lived to the height dinner and lived up to the hype in definitely one of the top five places to be in college basketball [Applause] that's just put keeping kaiser finishes with 2017 point wins today was all Aggies [Music] credit to Haiti came out from the jump gratata since I've never ever had an answer cam Langley Ronald's axon story tonight two of the best players in this conference they showed you our [Music] advantages not just in the be put in all of college basketball a big reason why a its he got off to that fast start they use that as a springboard for a win against their biggest rival coming up next it's Jackson State and Prairie View A&M oh we say so long with Greensboro for king McClure environment cap holidays drop [Music]
