2020 Husqvarna FE350S -Dirt Bike Magazine

[Music] [Music] hi thanks for watching the dirt bike magazine dual sport video series today we have the bike that many people considered to be at the very top of the dual sport food chain the 2020 Husqvarna Fe 350 s this year the S suffix is new because there is another Fe 350 in the line a new dirt only version of the same bike both variations have the newer frame design and bodywork they were introduced on the motocross bike in 2019 the dual sport version is a little cleaner a little leaner and incredibly quiet up front this bike runs great without any modifications whatsoever no joke the bike starts idles doesn't cost will aim out at all we can't even say that about many unrestricted motocross plans it's still fully emissions and noise compliant without any cheats like a throttle stop or an inner baffle [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] don't get the wrong impression though the FE 350s isn't especially powerful it revs really high but there's no big hit anywhere along the way it just keeps spinning and spinning it's decent but if you compare it back to back with a full-blooded race bike it will get eaten alive whether or not that's a deal killer depends on who you are and where you ride if you live in the mountains where you need smooth power for tight rocky trails you'll love it the fire roads and hill climbs you might want more power either way you're gonna need new rubber the Continental tkc 80 tires were chosen because they're quiet not because they're good on the trail I have to be swapped for d-o-t navi's there are lots to choose from these days you have to install rim locks to the stock the bike is delivered with them in the toolkit once you have good rubber the bike handles great it's amazingly light for a dual sport bike on our scale it weighs 237 pounds without you it that's awesome for comparison the Honda CRF 450 L dual sport is 40 pounds heavier on the same scale even the Y Z 450 F motocross bike is a couple pounds more a Yamaha TW 200 is even 30 pounds heavier as we mentioned the bike does have a new stiffer frame this year we were a little concerned that wouldn't work well offroad but the FE 350 is still a very comfortable bike the WP Explorer fork and shock are very soft which makes for a cushy ride at a casual pace it might even be overkill you grab a handful of front brake the fork dives excessively when you get into ups it's easy to use up all the rear suspension travel [Music] [Applause] [Music] we get it Husqvarna is aiming to make this bike a comfy cruiser type of bike we often get questions about unplugging any dual sport bike if you really decide you want to go down that road be aware that it has to start with EFI mapping which technically turns the bike into a closed course competition machine that's tricky because the EFI unit is long but without a changes in the exhaust your intake will actually make the bike run worse as far as the d-o-t stuff goes it's actually very good this is when the very first dual sport test bikes that still has all of its blinkers and d-o-t stuff after a few weeks of riding usually that stuff falls off immediately so far so good the license plate bracket actually is a little vulnerable especially if you put on a naughty this year Husqvarna dropped the 250 and the 450 dual sport bikes leaving only the 350 and the 501 not too many riders will miss the 250 which was a fun bike but very expensive the 501 is great but you have to be a fan of big boards which aren't for everyone that means the 350 will be Z bike that's right for most riders it's truly a great motorcycle they can be taken straight into the dirt and stock form [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] stay tuned for more dual-sport videos from dirtbike magazine and as always go to dirtbike magazine.com for all the latest news tests and info you
