Something for the auto/bike fans. This will also give you an idea about RE's push into US/European markets with the 650. It is very competitively priced.

This is Uplifting! Too bad they drink petrol like a drunk guy in an open bar. I can't afford it, even if I could, I am too middle class, kitna deti hai? Is my first question. All the time.

But RE bikes used to be plagued with quality control issues. Especially the first gen Himalayan exports. That is a huge image killer for a brand.

throttle response is excellent very progressive very linear you know it doesn't doesn't or do anything like that you know I think I like this bike very smooth episode of Jalen's garage house you probably figured out this is about motorcycles specifically Royal Enfield motorcycles you know it's interesting this is a company that I just had my eye on for a while the Royal Enfield is one of the most storied brands it's probably the one of the oldest continuous manufactured bikes originally built in England famous for singles and then the 60s the Interceptor and then the 750 CC with the neutral finder which was a really a cool thing I always like Royal Enfield and then they started building them in India which is primarily just single cylinder motorcycle is pretty utilitarian basic transportation you know real motorcycles but nothing really for the performance enthusiasts now they've got a whole new range of twins and singles and if you think this is a small motorcycle company they sell over 850 thousand bikes a year which is pretty amazing when you think about it a lot of manufacturers don't would love to have those kind of numbers don't come anywhere close and they're all pretty reasonable priced you know I've had a Royal Enfield single now for about seven or eight years got a sidecar on it and it's just a lot of fun I think you'll be surprised to hear the price of these bikes and we'll take this new twin out for ride these are the two I'm really excited about because British twins were always a huge thing of mine I've got a Spitfire a BSA I got a BSA Lightning got a bunch of Triumph Bonneville so I'm anxious to see how this compares let's meet rod cops you're the president of Royal Enfield correct yes good to see in North America North America okay I'm not familiar with this model now this is the first time I've seen this one or heard of this one I've been following the the twin for a while but this is different this is not based on the sort of tried-and-true Royal Enfield single is no this is a brand new motorcycle that was introduced in India about three years ago and we brought it to the United States about a year ago and it's called the Himalayan right because it was actually purposely built and designed for the Himalayan mountains right right because that's obviously in India north yeah and they used to take the old singles up into the Himalayans and so Siddhartha Wall the CEO had a vision of kind of doing a dual sport on-road off-road motorcycle and this was conceived right out of the Himalayan mountains well you know I really like Indian manufacturing they've become a powerhouse we've had a bunch of Indian engineers and gentlemen come through the garage I really like these guys because they remind me sort of of that American spirit of the 40s and right after the war we can do anything we can build anything you know on my Royal Enfield I have in there the sidecar the address is Royal Enfield there's something like three doors down from the post office on me so you know it's just oh we're very proud you know it yes it's just very nice and you know and they they just do wonderful things so what's what's the capacity of this it's a new 410 CC okay air-cooled engine right and it has a counter balance or in it so it doesn't vibrate when you're up at highway speeds so it's a great bike you can go on road off road anywhere in between and the thing it really makes these bikes killers is the price I think most people would guess this is probably sixty five hundred seven thousand dollars that's what most people guess but we're proud to announce it's actually forty five hundred dollars okay Wow all in two year warranty on these and come right from the factory decked out like the way it is right now is that unlimited mileage unlimited mileage okay yes let's see how smooth you mentioned let's take it up to six grand vibration but not distortion you can still see that's impressive yeah and they're great motorcycles right you talked about kind of the the Indian manufacturing this is produced in a brand new manufacturing plant that was opened up in 2013 and it's truly world-class manufacturing with all the quality controls and every right so they've really come a long way well the one that I'm really excited about is are these twins for me I like well I'm an old guy so I like motorcycles that look like motorcycles that are metal I mean I enjoy plastic I use it a lot and knives and forks and but I like motorcycles made out of metal you know and that's what I like about this these are 650 CC correct correct okay and they're about what 48 50 horsepower yep right around 48 horsepower okay now again most people would say okay 650 when I think if you got a Japanese 650 they're probably running about how much eight nine thousand dollars something like this yeah and probably performance wise are faster yeah probably right but if you like really good fun transportation this is about well I've got a 64 Triumph Bonneville that's about 40 horsepower and I have a lot of fun with this this is 48 and I'm sure it's a lot smoother obviously okay and they're air-cooled they are air-cooled and oil yeah Erin oil so you have the era oil cooler right up front but they have a classic motorcycle look that I like sometimes you just like to go for a ride because I've got a lot of I've got an h2 Kawasaki which is 207 power it is so fast I scare myself to death with that thing you know and it's great fun right but sometimes you just want to go for a ride right I want to go to somebody's house I'm gonna go to work and I just want to have something that's and believe me this will go as fast as you want to go I mean you're moving what 450 pounds 430 forces yeah okay okay and you've got 48 horsepower so it's plenty fast yeah it's just not the fastest thing out there right and what we like to say is it's back to what motorcycling used to be yeah you know fun cool and simple and affordable well you know that's sort of the Harley thing like with the Harley 883 when I was a kid I mean a real little kid like in 57 when that was like 883 sat-sun believe me yeah that was a really fast right now it seems small in comparison right you know but this is the classic 650 the sort of British parallel twin that classic modes of the cycles not and it looks like a real motorcycle you know I don't want to step through things you know centrifugal clutch I want I wanted to have a proper shift and a proper clutch and drive it like a real motorcycle and I really like the looks of it it's really a good-looking bike and and and how much of these two so again we have the affordability element coming so the IMT 650 starts at about fifty eight hundred dollars and the GT 650 starts at about six thousand dollars okay and they both come with a 3-year unlimited warranty as well as free roadside assistance so you know world class as far as the the warranty yeah I mean that's really impressive they're nice-looking bikes I tend to go for this one more a little bit I like a sporty bike and a single-seat you know I'm like you swing your leg over in and I mean it's really light I you know it's very manageable and nice thing is it's the first parallel engine we've done in over 50 years you know I had a friend here and he built a v-twin using to sort of saw the show the must do right right the musket yeah and he built this thing himself and I was so impressed I go this is what Royal Enfield should make so now they're doing it yeah you know and it has full gauges and I mean if there's nothing lacking in it it's impressive there really are not to be insulting it was 1970 this is what bikes looked like look at a higher bar really comfortable at the brace across here had a centre stand so you can do your own tire changing do your own services that kind of stuff I mean it doesn't get any more classic looking than this but it's obviously fuel-injected it's not carbureted it's all right it's all modern it just this is sort of the definition of retro to me right and it does have the technology built in so it's fuel-injected it has ABS you know all the standard features but it's got a classic retro look to it and this is what a Royal Enfield looked like in the late 60s when they come out with that 750 what just seemed like the fastest but I mean just the highway and you know it's really comfortable because a lot of times you you know a lot of bikes you're doing this all the time and after half hour you sort of at least if you're an old guy like me so I appreciate this I'm sure this is really a comfortable utilitarian bike to ride to work every day absolutely I mean that's what's cool about these is they they look great but they're good solid basic transportation as well but with a bit of fun thrown it exactly it's the this middleweight segment that's kind of been ignored for decades the motorcycle manufacturers kind of chased everything up to the expensive complex motorcycles this is the sweet spot yeah it's coming back and people both new riders as well as existing riders want this type of motorcycle yeah yeah I mean I do get a little checked out sometimes it you know every time I can get the manual out what is what mode am I in now I'm in slight rain with bit of ice okay let me you know easy right and at the price point it's it's it's really impressive I suppose just sounds like an ad and in some ways I guess it is but it is a part of the segment nobody's interesting because when they build like bikes for Millennials it just don't look like motorcycles to me it's a step through design or it has some other kind of weird thing yeah I mean I like the fact that it's got proper spoke wheels like a motorcycle you know it's a chain like a motorcycle you can do your own maintenance and it's really no man this really it's got metal like the way you like it yeah no plastic yeah [Laughter] but very impressive very cool obviously disc brakes front and back okay ABS standard yeah and is this a hottest selling model you told me so this is so we brought this into North America about a year ago and it doubled our sales immediately yeah yeah in the US so it's a it's it actually created its own little market segment because most dual-sport motorcycles or adventure touring are very large expensive challenging motorcycles to handle yeah this is a 31 and a half inch seat height yeah and it's just easy so this could be a commuter bike it could be City cross or it could be you know cross country yeah I mean that's the real deal in American success is to try and find a market nobody's filling at that particular time right and come out with a product and that's what's really cool that's what I like about it because this is a segment I really enjoy you know sometimes I just like to get on the bike and run down to the store or you know go down to the office do some stuff just take a little ride you know just have fun with it you know and and it's like I always say I never take a motorcycle when I have to be somewhere it shows now I'm rushing I'm not paying attention and I'm cutting through like you know I haven't been down on a bike in a long time because that's what I do I got to be somewhere let me let me just take the car and let me sit in traffic and let me be late right doesn't have to go okay I'm like don't be cleverer than the guy go ppens a door and boom yeah you don't want to rush it is you can go blending plenty fast without Russia what does this mean on the dash one the tank here this is our four royal enfield oh just okay that's a little logo right okay oh there's the e okay there it is yes we got them both dyslexic I know so that's the modern version then you have kind of a a new rendition of the classic right that was right from the original interceptor who had the expression built like a gun does not really know that no that is royal right I feel you don't like a gun you don't really want that doesn't work nowadays in the United States that nowadays but I always remember that was there built like a gun but very good well I'd like to take this one for a ride I just want to check that that height of those are bars they look comfortable yeah and I think what you'll find it looks aggressive but it doesn't force you to have a lot of weight on your arms that's a real natural riding position and it's very comfortable and you know maybe it's because of my age but sometimes it's fun to have a motorcycle where I can use all the power I can take it to redline like I say when I get on my h2 Kawasaki really ok now right well we roll in field like to say that if the motorcycle has similar capabilities as the rider you have pure motorcycling enjoyment oh I see so if you can balance the motorcycle capability with all right we do not want a motorcycle in as bad a shape as I am the ultimate death trap somewhere I agree disagree but anyway I would love to take this thing for right can we do this let's do it you know I think I like this bike very smooth seems like a very under stress motor a lot of bikes the compression is so high that they make so much heat whereas this just seems fine and it runs on I guess it takes premium but I wouldn't be surprised it runs fine on regular fuel you know I don't need a gear indicator I take just like having a speedometer and attack and a fuel gauge and a trip on water and an odometer and that's all really you need well it's got anything like brakes to it which I think abs which is nice to have throttle response is excellent aggressive great linear you know it doesn't it you anything like that because it's all for you only check it which is nice I do like the height of these handlebars these it just about right for me but you know you get up to about 40 or 50 and the wind holds you up but they don't feel like I'm you know I'm putting all the pressure on my elbow engine is very balanced very smooth marah's don't vibrate this is where this bike is really perfect you know I just want to drive through the hills you know look at the houses look at the animals look at the beach you know it's a it's a great bike for this kind of thing it's great to see one of the cycle manufacturing back in England again because they've ruled the world through the 50s and 60s triumph BSA they're just teams there was somebody named Scott then they all kind of went away and now it's good to see they're coming back Royal Enfield emigrated to India and then they came back to England again so that's it's fun to see another nice thing I like about this bike is it doesn't throw excessive heat no it's only 48 horsepower so it's not compression is so high that it's that you need to just burn it all the time over the heat but not bad not bad at all but quite comfortable you know that's what this bike is perfect for just driving through neighborhoods you haven't been before and looking around you know sometimes on the Sunday that's what I like to do just go out and I mean it's fun to go up into the canyons and pretend you're a motorcycle racer but you just like to go for a while I wish it was a warmer day there and take this thing out for a lot longer ride but it's not cold by Wisconsin standards but by la standards it's freezing what do you think good-looking motorcycle let me know what you know what you think in the comments section I like it a lot you know I really like this bike I really join it as I said before people thinks it's a commercial but it's not really we're just promoting motorcycling we do Ducati and Harley and BMW and all the bike brands and anytime somebody new is on the market with something new and different especially at this price point I think it just brings more people into the sport well I think that's the objective is we've got to build this board and continue to bring new people in yeah I mean I like all the accessories you know the heated grips and this and all the different rain mode and all that stuff but I come in save 10 grand you know I mean you know for $6,000 it's a real British motorcycle design in England yeah I mean it's fantastic hey thanks for bringing a buyer right good luck thank you very much you sold 850 thousand already so it sounds like you already have the good luck so but keep up the good work see you guys next week
