[Music] trained horses is a lot of like coaching a football team both have the same goal to win [Applause] winning doesn't just happen there's a process but you do they both have to want to do it sometimes getting to the finish line takes longer than you think other times it takes even long the foundation you build a strong meaning isn't just a one-time thing trained horses there's a lot of like coaching for the Beltane became teach them to be welcome to FCC Saturday night presented by Holiday Inn Express and welcome to Kroger Field tonight undefeated Kentucky the 17th ranked team in the country takes the field in front of a packed house to try for their fifth straight that gets South Carolina these cats have been doubted they have been questioned but they played with incredible confidence to an O in the conference for the first time since 1977 the place is sold out the atmosphere is incredible welcome Tom Hart alongside Jordan Rogers will hear from Cole Kubek in a moment and what a moment for this Kentucky program a chance to prove all those doubters out there that they belong in a chance to answer those critics in this environment yeah the environments electric and for good reason I think this football team is built for a championship run and really built to go from the underdog little surprise people to a powerhouse that this conference needs to be on alert this team has plenty of confidence inside the walls of their own building but they say it's those outside that doubt them that fuel them and nobody epitomizes that more than their Super Start running back Benny Smith I think this entire team has taken on the mentality of Benny's Snellen would you run the football the way that Kentucky has had success running the football it's as much about that mentality as it is about the physicality and Benny Snell brings both those to the table one of the reasons this team is as good as any in the nation not just the conference at running the football we could show you all of his numbers they're impressive but instead why don't we hear from the confident running back himself I'm very proud of my team everybody keep proving you're wrong let's go and so we figure this game will be decided upfront and in the trenches if it's decided a quarterback South Carolina may have the advantage Jake Bentley shows it he has a big arm here's a very cerebral player South Carolina won the toss he'll receive we'll get him see to see him right off the bat yeah one of the more dangerous quarterbacks in the entire country not just for what he's able to do physically but it's how dangerous he is free snap he puts defenses in tough situations because he will check out of a run if the numbers aren't there if you got in Vantage on the outside he's as accurate as anybody and putting the ball where it needs to be for his guys to make a play and if there's an emotional play in this conference it's Jake Bentley he brings the emotion he brings the heartens got the it factor in spades he's got plenty of perimeter help as you discussed one of those guys is debo Samuel who has incredible speed and is a difference maker in special teams in this building figures to be a difference maker tonight demos trying to fire up the crowd the South Carolina section will try to get their voices heard as they aim to the plate Kentucky in their season they've danced their way to a four no start already [Applause] this is a long-awaited game for Kentucky the place sold out early in the week and visions of what could be possible will Muschamp a defensive minded coach those it'll be physical sodas mark stoops good friends on opposite side lines grande mechanics will get us started debo is back deep [Music] [Applause] [Music] it'll try to keep Deebo Samuel and a fair catch taken at the 22-yard line and that's where South Carolina's up-tempo offense will begin [Applause] transferred late in his high school career to hook the like an Alabama on his dad was coaching at Auburn his brothers quarterbacks in college it is a family trait and that leadership and energy part of it his dad is the running backs coach here Bobby's Bentley's been coaching his sons in the backyard and his daughter for a long time and there's got to be some parental pride every time Jake gets behind center for the Gamecocks Rico down a loser tailback plenty time for Bentley puck from going a deep ball it is natural batted back away from Brian Edwards safety help over-the-top for South Carolina we'll take shots and chances they absolutely will no one better then Jake Bentley at using his eyes to move with safety but he didn't have enough because Jordan Griffin was there in a hurry and if I'm Jake Bentley those balls have got to be more on a line there is too much length in this Kentucky secondary to throw jump balls on the outside they go six three six three on the corners his down at his first carry he's got nowhere to go Calvin Taylor with his first stop and Kentucky's facing eyes for South Carolina into a third and all and not a better way to start this game occur then to have a certain home to get on third down got to be good on early downs and force in South Carolina into bad situations third down nine zone blitz Bentley's pumps again over the middle incomplete up the hands of Tebow Samuel and a first down if people had hauled it in at South Carolina we'll go three and out great job initially Bentley wants to go to his right there good coverage and that's a ball and it has to be caught by South Carolina's most explosive player on offense ebo Samuel Joseph Charlton to punt it away David Bouvier hometown kid back to receive beautiful punt with plenty of hang time and Bouvier will have to call a fair catch and he does so up to 25 49 yard punt for Joseph Charlton Terry Wilson is the Kentucky quarterback it was a tight race with me and Gunnar Hoak insulating him the Oklahoma native won the job in his first year the program started at Oregon then a year JUCO Garden City Community College in Kansas and now this signal caller for the undefeated and 17th ranked Wildcats the first since Mike Hart line to start his career for no [Applause] Benny Snell off his right hip and the first touch for stem and he's handed a surge behind that offensive line Javon Kinlaw this tackle gain of four what makes Benny Snell so dangerous guy runs behind his pads better than any running back I think in the conference are possibly in the country right now it's the mentality that we were talking about he runs angry every time he touches the ball it seems like he's got something to prove they faked the toss to emotion to cut it up take it himself that's become a bread and butter play for this Kentucky offense yeah I love this little play you don't see many teams run the option off of a place I'd pitch Wilson's got the opportunity here to pitch that defensive end expands great play there by Aaron sterling to bring down Terry Wilson but he is dangerous running the football I think he's gonna be an x-factor in this game if you keep going on the ground and compliment Snell they're gonna be tough to stop we're down at two they want to throw it make the line the game Rashad Fenton throws him down for a loss of three [Applause] [Music] so both teams will punt on their first possession great job by defending their they had the numbers Kentucky did but now to make that first block for those quick screens to get some ground max Duffy's the punter Brian Edwards to return Duffy first your punter out of Australia that's it back inside of the tray and Edwards he raced had nowhere yard punt Zack Johnson with the special teams coverage the loss of blood we are scoreless on a sold-out Saturday night in the bluegrass take a look at the Gamecocks starters important for Rico downhole to get going as much as we're going to talk about Bentley and this is a fast first offense gotta have some balance Rico down and attaching an early [Applause] sometimes the heart of this Kentucky defense is going to night through the a gap blow up this play Enrico Zappa and look at what a savvy player going for the ball in the backfield look at the eyes not many guys better and more instinctual than Jordan Jones that's a big play for this senior at home when this crowd is ready to get into a top I'd be a steady dose of Venice now here here's snow inside the degree and a gain of five big tight end CJ Conrad and Justin rig cave in the way getting a little chippy with the O L and D lying down here Tom and Jordan you can see those two guys going back and forth on both sides of the ball early we're kind of game love it there's Snell again and traffic and it gets you to design the ones you want in mall brings him down third and goal would you go left back to him I would imagine [Applause] for him to keep this one South Carolina Klump right now is pinching in filling up every into your gap wouldn't be surprised Kentucky tries to get to the edge here and the fact they're going to go Wildcat with Benny Snell taking a direct snap six offensive lineman there Cyr Watkins is enter the game up front for Kentucky Snell loves the while Kevin said I love and South Carolina mood false stars [Applause] that was back into it entered as the sixth man on the old line let's see if they stick of the Wildcat then he said I know what's coming they know what's coming everybody in the stadium knows what's coming and I love it that's why he loves it he loves exerting his physicality on a team he wants them to know he's about to run at him he wants the satisfaction of running through him I wouldn't be surprised here on a third down see a little razzle-dazzle I don't know Wilson look in that way corner of the end zone not today and quickly [Applause] we'll be forced to bring on the kicking team a great job of coverage by South Carolina there [Applause] [Music] Lynne Bolton he shot Nixon thing is he maybe was there a little early was there contact yes but he's playing the football that's why that's not a penalty there's 29 yard attempts for miles but he's only attempted three field goals this season [Applause] in Kentucky strikes first the mood matches the Cavs uniforms this figures to be a black and blue kind of game between two teams that's evident don't like each other very much the fumble set up Kentucky's first points three nothing cats Kentucky had to take away turn that into only three points say head- for yardage on their last possession always dangerous d volcano will have a chance here he doesn't believe in fair catches another great special team stop that time Janine Davis [Applause] the eyes of the quarterback and Bentley hands it off we had a pickup before the second look how Kentucky lines it up of the defensive side of the ball and their best player on that defensive side of the ball Josh Allen has got to find a way to fix the problems on third down and get out for the quarterback another carry form on Denton and he'll pick up the first first down of the night for the Gamecocks South Carolina now twice those first two plays coming out with a lineman outside the numbers here two skilled positions and alignment out there three offensive linemen and tight in in the Box getting tricky and it turns into a pass to shy Smith who gets upended Smith had a monster game last week against man and tried to set up a little bit of a trick play there tom the tide in in the backfield right here they're going to try to leak him up fake it throw to that side and see if they can't catch a linebacker sleeping but the job of Kentucky they're back to the ground game and a flag on the play I want to ask you about Kentucky's coverage in the secondary after we get the announcement on his penalty Lee Hendrick is our referee tonight but it seems like kind of I don't know a mismatch for Kentucky in one sense personal foul [Applause] it's costly this Hannah but how does a team like Kentucky match up against Jake Bentley from a coverage perspective yeah it's difficult because Bentley can do so much pre-snap he'd be stack an extra linebacker in the box he's going to change the play and throw to the outside if you're light in the box he's gonna run at you and you see Bo Hanna there right there with the hands to the face the time you kicked that offensive lineman's facemask up in the air looking to call family hands it off again in a punishing ground games form on Denson goal we've talked a lot about Kentucky's offensive line how do you grade South Carolina's guys up front I love the left side Dailey and Zack Bailey have played excellent football he sees that Bailey here left they don't have a left tackle but they're still finding a way to move the football was just three offensive linemen how about this again they go back to the running game Tom this is is unbelievable I've never seen the team use this type of formation all the way through the jack drive you might see it once or twice in a drive trying to catch a gimmick but you have three interior offensive linemen too tight in both your tackles are out on the numbers Kentucky trying to figure out where to allocate guys to stop the run and the pass it looks like something we've seen eight-man football Bentley looking for the go route left comes back right and is it a keg-nog they say out of bounds and so that will set up second and ten knows if you're a defensive coordinator there Jordan how do you allocate for the two offensive linemen that are out on the numbers you can't focus if you want to try to bring pressure where you're gonna lose somebody out there you got an offensive lineman blocking a linebacker or a nickel and they're going back to it on 2nd at 10:00 Denson picks up a pair it's essentially oklahoma true but their own for it is and it is so you have the numbers in the run game you get the numbers you can either the numbers out and get a form before you should win it every time that's why South Carolina has been winning on the ground out of this formation more traditional here facing a third and seven five man rush Bentley escapes and he's trying to direct traffic and run for the first down and Jim batley takes it inside the 20 on a 20-yard scramble and this is why Ben he is so tough not only will he beat you free snap he's not the best athlete in the world but he is slippery and he has great vision you see Jordan Jones on a green dog Adelaide blitz there Bentley able to find the lane and pick up that first now in many ways because Donnell Stanley was able to pick up Jones second possession for South Carolina deep into the cat's territory pressured again and incomplete trying to find Samuel over the middle he's been targeted twice they have yet to complete one [Music] had the coverage for always reach a Devo Segal maybe a little more air with a help there that's a tough throw in tight coverage this will be the 11th play of the drive for Will Muschamp skin cops here is repaired out of coal and a quarterback comes up to check blaze like that in a stadium and environment like this how hard is it to hear what he's talking about it's very difficult you have to get right into the elbow of your offensive lineman and then even the more difficult part tom is that offensive line transitioning that message all the way downs and senator guard the tackle and this has been loud down here built level I can tell you so communication will be an issue that that quarterbacks got to get right into the ear role of the center and let him sort of share that message all the way down and when you pass it on it's like the most important game of telephone you've ever played [Applause] fake to Samuel deadly trying to run and that we froze it if Samuel is able to get forward but not enough for the first down I know you love it how we talk about our POS all the time this suit a different kind of look this is not an RPO this is just an improv of improvisation here that's a quarterback to pop didn't look pretty but he tried to get it out of his hand any way possible and be careful on those sometimes Bentley will take the risk sometimes the risk outweighs the reward there Parker white on for South Carolina hasn't missed this year this is from 29 yard to tie the school Kentucky almost got it lining Johnson jr. missed it by a fingernail white ties it up on a lengthy drive from South Carolina then bone back receive for Kentucky they'll take the fair catch [Applause] makes a handoff to fold and Danice now lips softly 13-yard how does that happen great blocking on the interior or just a great job there by Drake Jackson the center at walling off that nose guard and opening up that hole for Benny selling you give him some daylight it's gonna take advantage of it [Applause] Terry Wilson will run it out to bogey but just to midfield before JC horns rolling backwards for in progress hazard a gain of three you know a lot of these shorts rolls that Kentucky has for Terry Wilson are really designed to stretch that box to get the focus outside of the box to try to take some some focus and alleviate their run game but this often still is yet to solidify a legitimate threat at throwing the ball downfield that's the next evolution for Kentucky and Terry Wilson third in the Nate apartment 11th in the nation in rushing 100 15th in the country and passion that's good for a first down Isiah Epps with a gain of 11 that's great to see offensive coordinator Eddie gran does a lot of splits field reads notice how Terry Wilson's head is just to the right however many safeties there are depending on the coverage that Wilson sees pre-snap she's going to work just one side of the field to simplify things that's how this passing offense can grow they go 5 wide here with a pair of tight ends for the bottom of your screen trying to set up the screen you see Joshua [Music] takes four white churches with the money gain of eight so let's see how that opens up veiny cells running lanes now you forced these South Carolina backers to play sideline to sideline not only you gotta get up tuckered are you gonna get their eyes off the focus of number 26 in the backfield that's all he needs [Applause] on second at Short Benny Snell enough for a first down a lot of the play perception a lot of defensive coordinator savaris Robinson he is a high energy guy he's working for defensive minded coach and Will Muschamp and Muschamp has all he's taking great pride in his defense and he knew today when you talked to him this morning what they're up against with the South Carolina apart me this Kentucky offensive line yeah and you flip on film you know that they've been mauling they've been physical affront and that it's always tough for Deepa to coordinator tell his guys hey we're going into a battle it's going to be tough gonna have to grind it out be patient there's Benny snap again take him down 14 from now with the tackle and watch the double-team here by Drake Jackson and bunchy Stallings are going to both work that way drive that one technique out of the picture and bunchy does a great job of coming off onto the linebacker as well that interior line that Cole has been just raving about all week and the last time I saw a double-team shave off to the linebackers and you guys plan to be able towards a turf nice cackle Cole thanks for the care and understanding there's Snell he is running over goods he just met up with Steven Montague and put him on his back guys I talked to Trey Robinson the defensive coordinator and will Muschamp before the game they used a a very intriguing verb to describe this Kentucky offensive line said they absorb you essentially meaning they're not the most powerful group that you'll ever see which I agree with but once they get last on they just do not let go they absorb defensive players and make it difficult to detach and go make Talent the way I hear that is if they absorb you and dull go they might be holding it we're through one corner the atmospheres lived up to expectations so it's Benny snow all locked at 3:00 and there's a guy knows about running 29 games to reach 3000 rush yards joining a host of first rounders second and two for Kentucky Benny snap [Applause] Jerzy he's still powered for her for Kobe Smith with the tackle we've been raving about him that's really what makes him special when the blocking is not there as good as it's been already on this Drive when there is no hole his ability that make one make something happen get a positive play you rarely see him get stopped in the back booth so its first and goal Terry Wilson is perfect on this Drive through the air four for four [Applause] three receivers to the top Wilson keeps it and he's hanging with Bennie's now the deep boy Kentucky gets its first touchdown [Applause] just an option play they're gonna block down here you're gonna leave this guy he bites in Terry Wilson beats him to the outside and this is this is how you put a defense in a bind you have a talented running back that's got me all the way Terry Wilson's third rushing touchdown of the season gives Kentucky the lead he came here from Independence Kansas he said junior college literally stunk our field was near the hog farms if the wind blew the wrong way he wanted to be anywhere else now he's in the bluegrass Jerry Wilson with the rushing touchdown for Kentucky costly flag after the touchdown [Applause] McInnis will drive it through the back of the end zone almost hit a cheerleader big belly two of six for seven yards to start this game here's Rico Dowell and Dowdle meets up with Mike Edwards and Jordan Jones after a gain of four I think it's really important South Carolina gets plays like that to start drive so they can get into their tempo offense that's when their best down--all again why was it important for South Carolina to install more than up tempo offenses well you got a quarterback is so talented at reading defenses you keep a defense filled same personnel same coverage scheme Bentley's going to figure it out so that tempo doesn't allow teams to change as frequently as you need to to counteract a very cerebral quarterback they will load it up and let's see what in market Monde ensign got hit behind the line did his surge get him there looks like no game just a really good job I Kentucky's defensive front eating up all the blocks and leaving Derrick baby on the outs [Applause] Chucky had to use a timeout leading into that play and now South Carolina to punt it away then as Bear is a long snap mr. Charlton from Columbia South Carolina David Bouvier from Lexington Kentucky we do the night near South Carolina is going to get to it just at the goal line did it cross the plain to see 65 yard punt as it stands [Applause] and this crew will discuss it and it's a touchback huh [Applause] you can see the ball cross the plane all it has to do is get over that white stripe before it's controlled by South Carolina not quite down there that's why you just got to knock it back to worry about securing it just knock it back South Carolina has been tagged with one unsportsmanlike penalty battalion involved here Conrad [Applause] CJ Conrad a senior from Ohio grew up on a dairy farm he's a big beefy dude it's 65 to 50 these are the type of roles these are the type of clothes to get Terry Wilson comfortable stretch the defense track and you go back and look at the games that Kentucky was successful on offense CJ Conrad has a roll get him involved and good things happen for this Kentucky offense I'd start for Terry Wilson six of seven four-man rush Wilson trying to pump the go great coverage on here dat and so he'll fire it out about Aaron sterling brought the pressure guys one of the reasons I think CJ Conrad will become more and more useful for this Kentucky offense is the variations in which 80 gram uses him to block in the run game sliding him behind the line of scrimmage a little bit more it used to be just run the counter away from him now they'll run the counter play to him the motion him in zone using him in a lot of different ways in the running game makes him more easy to discuss no Conrad and no Benny schnell on this play AJ Rhodes is in the backfield for the first time he's averaging nearly seven-and-a-half yards of carrier Wilson wanted to go deep South Carolina knock-down coverage and Wilson is able to scramble for four it's a great job by Wilson I mentioned split field reads you're gonna see one safety he's gonna end up going the middle field so he's trying to work his stopper out to this side great covers on the outside and because AJ Rose is in protection no easy outlet use your legs what make a bad play worse get a positive gain of a play we're really in the secondary South Carolina beaches third down six Kentucky one of three on third downs tonight Wilson stands tall in the packet delivers his start tutorial Becker he shot Nixon brings him down educated [Applause] and a great job again by Terry Wilson this is a second window throw you see Pompton that linebacker expanded into the first window where he was trying to hit Dorian Baker so he waited into that second window Dorian Baker the biggest most physical receiver the Kentucky has they need to start getting him more involved just one catch for 23 yards last week he's a dangerous target on the outside chains and Pacey compliment the snow it's a gain of nine even better than roses season average coming in nice a great one too as explosive or physical but he's patient and he sees the field really well as you see him making moves and turning that run into more yards and the blocking probably 15 second and short you take a shot well I would 30 yard line as soon as these obstacle inators get inside the 40 to 55 yard line it's the first thing they start thinking they'll hand it off [Music] Game seven sterling stuff Tom that's a quarterback talking so of course I wanted to I want to take a shot but the way Kentucky is dominating the line of scrimmage right now South Carolina has got to do something as you can see there's Conrad Cole was just talking that's that split zone he's gonna go back side block the defensive end everybody else is working front sides those are those plays where they'll sneak him out in the pass plays he's a crucial she'll roll in the in the blocking game for the running attack let alone those plays both wrote in his book South Carolina shows pressure they rush [Applause] to the car [Applause] broke don't fix it they're running at bunchy Stallings all days you can see him they're working to open that hole working on Mike linebacker TJ Brunson and that's all rows at the end they're breaking a tackle reaching for the pylon they're surprised if they take another look at that one Butler punches it through you cannot ask for a better start for Kentucky they've run 24 plays they're averaging nearly seven yards per play and the undefeated cats have an early advantage [Music] once again I'll keep it away from debo pushing and shoving afterwards South Carolina has got to go back to what they're good at and and you can't blame you can't blame Brian McClendon for trying to run the football and set that tone early this South Carolina offense is best when it's in tempo and they let Bentley throw the ball that's who they are now they've dug himself in another hole just like against Georgia where they're gonna have to rely heavily on Jake Benton's on George a game which South Carolina got blown out 17 Bentley tryna pumpkin go he's got a shot down a sideline and off the hands of Emory's demos got a drop Edwards has a truck and not only was it a first down in the making from the maybe of momentum that Jack Begley is going to be limited itself on this one this is a touchdown they faked a bubble screen and yes that should have been caught but really that should have been a touchdown Bentley severely under threw that if he leads him and allows him to stay on his feet that is a 75 yard touchdown big opportunity missed and out of doubt oh why does that happen to a quarterback in big moments like this I tell you what the more wide open a guy is sometimes the worse get throw the ball because you're so worried about overthrowing them you don't spin it well he end up under thrown it just happens sometimes when your quarterback but you hate to see it in like that you don't get many of those against this Kentucky second a third and five Kentucky rushes for one from The Blind Side Bentley eludes him alerts him again Bailey's got a man wide open [Applause] but tattoo their second takeaway it's Derrick baity jr. Wow and yet again another inaccurate throw him Bentley does a great job she's got a free rusher five-man protection and since this is what he's so good at but right here just can't get enough into that bowl Rico Dowdle was all alone nobody there but the pressure he sought Bentley was running parallel to those markers on the field the lines and couldn't get enough momentum to get enough juice in that roll had another big-play [Applause] [Music] rips off a 15 yard run running behind a pole calling bunchy Stalin's go how excited was bunch and we asked him about depleting that Florida got a couple weeks ago in lenticels instance that's how excited colas offensive line doing work tom and mixing up gap scheme runs and zone scheme it's impressive to watch from field level [Applause] here's Benny Snell we met with bunchy stallings yesterday and his eyes lit up we call asked him about the de cleaning of the florida defender and one of the things call he brought up he's like yeah listen I saw Lyman we don't get love all the time it was nice to kinda bask in that glow it was kind of cool to see him just like leaned back in his chair give you a little half grin and say yeah that was nice because like you said offensive linemen don't get a lot of love and they deserve it and bunch of Stallings definitely deserves it with how he's played this fall Wilson fakes a toss goes out of matter to go beyond and he'll get breaks please from the first and a filmer walk has a gain of 21 this is that little toss option that they're going to run toss option they're going to read the outside guy but Wilson's going to pull up in boobie a little pop pass usually Kentucky and Eddie gran are known for the pop pass to the tight end same concept drawn those linebackers to a play they knows come in and hit it right behind it saw them working that practice and I said hey that's gonna be a good one that's gonna be a big play and obviously first time they ran it hit big [Applause] the lines by JC Hornet turn doing into a game of two you saw Mark Stoops a moment ago given the official in year four marks to telling Benny Snell has reacted to this program's attention basically by saying we believe in us we put all the hard work in we don't care if no one picks us we don't care if you think we can win games or win the division because we believe inside these walls this team plays better within us against the world mentality with an anger smell in the Wildcat now he'll toss it and Wilson watch the claws that nantucket thinks the pressure fantastic working downfield that Josh alley and it turns into a first down one of 14 yards I was talking all weekend I thought Terry Wilson was going to be the x-factor little pump motion in the Wildcat they want to throw the ball here into the end zone South Carolina does a great job of blown and up at the downfield block and you mentioned it Tom every time you flip off film whether it's a long run from the running back for a quarterback there is always a crucial block on the outside that's how you turn 10 yard [Applause] six play of the drive and he smell stems and any smell [Applause] this is a complete miss here Thomas nobody blocks the nose guard there that's what makes Betty smells so good though I guess a it doesn't have to be blocked right or even blocked at all he's gonna make something happen [Applause] [Applause] it's going to be really hard for marks keeps his team continue to think the people hate on it because if they continue on this trend they're going to be the talk to college football I don't know the Mark Stoops could have drawn up a better first half a very balanced rushing attack rushing touchdowns from three different Wildcats they have dominated the line of scrimmage and in this physical black and blue game it's been all blue for Kentucky coal has coach Stoops coach Stoops obviously the run game has been dominant how do you feel quarterback Terry Wilson handled this stage tonight so far he's done an excellent job tonight stayed in the pocket converted a third down throwing it which was a big third down I think it led to a touchdown if I'm not mistaken then of course he's made a few plays where he scrambled then a few designed runs so I think he's playing very good you talked to us about your defense coming into this game you said it was gonna be a coverage game that you had to win in coverage how would you assess that part of your defense in the first half we were a little too aggressive but they had a few guys open we just got fortunate they missed a couple you know so we get we got to get back and played a little bit better discipline our eyes Thank You coach thank you and so after half Kentucky on top of South Carolina 24 to 3 all merry all happy and bright just like the guys back into the studio let's get you to dari doering and cheese gentlemen all yours welcome back to SEC standard Holiday Inn Express now yeah that's what the tattoo says across his torso and he showed South Carolina a lot of that thus far the question for the Gamecocks can they bounce back in the second half can't it get his Bentley rolling in the passing game return to form welcome back tom hartman Jordan Rogers it's really the biggest question mark in the second half because the first half was all Kentucky yeah we haven't seen a ton of the RP O's run-pass option from Bentley that's when this offense is so good when they stack and stop the run Bentley is able to distribute this haven't done that at all just nine yards passing they got to try to get something going through the air we said before this game started that it would be determined in the trenches and so far all Kentucky there yeah Kentucky's dominant at the point of attack in South Carolina hasn't been gap disciplined to me if you're gonna stop a run you have two slain you gotta have movement up front to me you got to make this Kentucky team one-dimensional stack as many guys in the box as it takes to stop Kentucky's run and force Terry Wilson to push the ball downfield no chance for a return for Kentucky as we go down the field and check in with Cole cubelet Cole what was milk will Muschamp mood like well Tom he wasn't very happy coming off the sidelines he said defensively gap control like Jordan mentioned he said we have to play gap sound we have to fill correctly on defense if we're gonna slow this run game down he's confident that they have a chance to do it on offense he says we're not going to make many adjustments we feel like we've had opportunities but we shot ourselves in the foot we've been our own worst enemy so that was what most champ success that coming out from the half and so the question is even for those doubters out there gonna keep it going in the second half okay we're starting to see that ain't thirteen yards for CJ conference it's a great play design they're gonna fake the run action this way isolate this linebacker get him to step up and then hit CJ Conrad in what is kind of a pseudo hawk pass a user through the pop pass to the place I mean they'll fake the run to the same side they throw to the tight end this time he flipped in this is a very patient Kentucky offense coming out of the locker room Benny Snell hogtied for a gain of one Bryson Alan Williams their deejay hwadam is still out with an injury for South Carolina so Allen Williams has moved up from his outside linebacker spot and at 230 pounds he's taken on some of those big boys along the o-line that's real challenge for him yeah it's the thing DJ wanna out he's 260 pounds six five as you mentioned Bryson Allen Williams 230 Aaron sterling on the other side 245 these guys are athletic but little light against the one fish now sideline and finally advances out after gain of 13 there's one thing missing from Benny Snell's resume and it's this yeah only ten receptions last year and by my counts this is fourth so far this year I mean he's a guy that is gonna garner attention from the NFL that's one thing though question I'm consistent can he be catching out the backdoor nothing can't do it but they haven't used him in that manner a ton here at Kentucky juh mayest Williams is the injured South Carolina Gamecock he'll be helped off and they'll get a little bit thinner in that secondary see Benny Snell's mouthpiece he's got spinners in there oh he changed it out now he's always got things this guy changes his mouthpiece like every game at least and now changing it at halftime tonight I mean he's a loud personality he loves to add a little attitude to his running game so why not throw a mouse Pete mouthpiece in there to flaunt a little bit spindle and then taking down loss of one [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 11th play of the drive [Applause] Green had the coverage a good protection had time therefore Terry Wilson trying to go to his big six five 250-pound tight end try to throw it where no one else could catches a little bit out of bounds there good coverage on the outside but now you're in a tough situation here on third and ten plus they've been a big screen team on third and long Jordan they have and I wouldn't be surprised if South Carolina dials up a little pressure here no I think we're gonna stay in there base I'm sorry Lars Robinson on the sidelines defensive coordinator for South Carolina they've had their hands full tonight third down 11 wilson has all the time in the world and great job by TJ Brunson to get his mitts on it and that'll bring up fourth and long yeah and not this strong part of Terry Wilson's game member I mentioned earlier half-filled Reed that's what Eddie gran wants he started to the right really had one-on-one coverage you Dorian Baker could have tried to take a shot but coming back to your left not seeing the underneath defenders as well as quickly as you need to and nearly made a crucial mistake here's Myles Butler he's already made from 29 this would be from 43 would be a new career long for the senior from Paducah [Applause] Leakes left they had one of the best kickers in school history graduate last year Butler trying to take his spot and will must have trying to find some momentum with the big miss from Kentucky it ends a 13 plate ride that covered 50 yards but ends up in zero points the ACC dodged a bullet today when Clemson held on at home against Syracuse they lost your starting quarterback due to a concussion in the first half it's like we're on track for two more SEC teams in the playoff South Carolina looking for a big run they get it from Rico daddle it's a gain of 17 great start there and here's where South Carolina start to push the tempo Ethan gets up going Kentucky has dominated time of possession before that play they had run the last 20 plays in this game three-man rush they drop eight slides to the turf to pick up to [Applause] Chandler feral has moved to the center Slott now Donnell Stanley shifted over to left guard at Stanley's first season it's centers so he's used to that we'll see how Farrell does up more from Somerville we just earned a scholarship this year responds davin no room to run they're trying to rip it away he picks up two that's a big loss for that South Carolina offensive line for now Tom I think Zack Bailey has been one of the better guards in the SEC this year in re-entering the game now he's bounced around from tackle to guard I feel like this is his morning actual home and he's had a big start of the season for the Gamecocks offensive them see how the crowd affects the case here dad a big play there by Josh Allen now he's going to be lined up here to the boundary on a third and 10 this is the situation that he can really pin his ears back and get after that quarterback pressure coming up the Middleton Jones Bently let's ago and it's caught by Devo Samuel Debose in Berlin footrace and Jake Bentley turns nothing into something a 58-yard touchdown for Deeb oh wow another questionable throwing decision I mean when you're down twenty four to three you kind of just got to make something happen there really wasn't much here Bentley just trying to throw a jump ball honey Johnson breaks on that just does not make a good play on that football really good oven should have been interception maybe that's the big play that gets South Carolina going he pushed it downfield got his playmaker Deebo we've been waiting for him to make a play and they're right back in for this game welcome back Kroger filled Lexington Kentucky a sellout in a city that's ready to party they're undefeated in the conference for the first time at two a note since 1977 that was a team that finished in the top ten Deebo Samuels got South Carolina's first touchdown we got a flag on the play and the kickoff is Lynn bode and boating trying to turn it up here I will stick by Imboden doing his best debo impersonation returns it for 41 but a flag on the play Wilson to throw he's got Conrad but wants more now last second slips it to the tight ends Kentucky had three picks on the season coming in they have two tonight this is a I think a crucial time in the game here and I'll tell you why third down Terry Wilson this season has had a propensity to turn the ball over as part of the decision-making process that start part of Eddie gran preaching and drilling into him i dean coverages knowing where to go with the ball being smart with the ball if they do pass Terry Wilson's got to protect this football and keep this to score game where it is pressure coming they bring six and Wilson fires it incomplete trying to find Dorian Baker a little miscommunication on the outside there Dorian Baker ran the out route it's like Wilson was thinking he was going to be on a go-round and sometimes that happens right if you get press coverage those outs will convert to a go route but if it's kind of in-between sometimes the receiver will keep the out route on the quarterback will think he should have converted and that's where the miscommunication occurs Brian Edwards set to return he had a nice one last time it was called back due to a block in the back and we got another flag now it's showing all the way out to the 30 [Applause] 45-yard punt more coming [Applause] side Judge Michael Williams Nicole's best friend by the way just showed off a cannon of an arm he's entered that flag 30 yards hits a key for a beanbag during the kick holding on the return team number 24 from the end of the first day you grew up with a brother that's a Super Bowl MVP quarterback I think you'd be able to toss a football yeah yeah Doug Williams won a Super Bowl with the Redskins and Michael getting an earful from Will Muschamp then he's got a long way to go they'll go play action of first half from the inside taste just Joshin pursuit from the back side you've got to get all the way over the line and break the plane to get out of it he just did it's a loss of three oh and one thing when we talked to Josh Alamos what he wanted to work on that second movement when his first movement gets stymied what's his answer that second reaction that second movement god of the Jeep Bentley and nearly got a safety [Music] second of 13 they get it out of the endzone rico battle quickly converge upon by a handful of wild cats including out [Applause] go south carolina's god Bentley has had time but nobody quote to it's protection so on the outsides gotta win [Applause] incomplete no flag coverage downfield by Devante Robinson Hill Pollard was the target [Music] good no-call your hand fighting going on little physicality there but again a pretty good job by South Carolina offensive line to give Bentley time just not able to get any separation in South Carolina on the outside Bouvier back to return he's been a part of big games here Kentucky as a fan here from the 45 Bouvier was in this stadium back in 2007 when Kentucky beat number one LSU and triple overtime he was just a young kid he said I got in trouble after that game because that was one of the Kentucky fans that rushed the field parents were too happy now he you say Kentucky Wildcat they are plenty happy and I ran a tour down the goal post at night we saw the pad from the goalpost it's still in town it's at one of the local establishments KS bar has it hanging in the rafters got a special story though Bouvier incredible came from nowhere he was gonna go to Center college never heard of him that's the only one but he grew up wanting to be a Kentucky Wildcat had an opportunity to join the program and now he's part of one of the best in recent memory his name is devil hundred yards Kentucky earning respect with every snap Kentucky's 12 and 3 when Benny goes for over 100 he's at 104 right now and might lose a couple there and the way this place came alive before the fourth quarter you think waka flocka is also a Kentucky football fan want to know how things have changed here with this team getting off to an undefeated start they had a pep rally at tent city for the Kentucky basketball team Benny Stalin two of the football players appeared I don't know if that's ever happened before and oh by the way John Calipari has got a preseason top five team maybe number one in the country and Benny snow is getting mobbed over there wasn't it yeah all the way to has right Wilson going for it all it is picked off by South Carolina and Rashad Fenton Fenton signing his name to it and I said right Terry Wilson gotta protect the football but silver lining there that's kinda just like a punch it's better than yeah better than a punt omits that's inside the ten you'd be happy if a punt Leon inside the ten so you'll take that South Carolina will take whatever momentum they can find eleven and a half minutes to go in this one Gamecocks trying to dial up for comeback perhaps it starts with this Fenton take away and is John Hancock [Music] I didn't know so many supporters of Centre College were on Twitter but I will point out my favorite Center alum Class of 93 Julian Van Winkle they'd be the class of 1893 better known as Pappy Van we know that a toast to you sir and in total to Safiye Bentley has time a strike that's good for a four of momentum first down as Brian Edwards hauls it in and here's what South Carolina gets dangerous remember Kentucky playing without the starting middle linebacker Kash Daniel daddle bounces off one hit fights for three [Music] [Applause] unloads deep it is hot the hands [Music] boy you gotta bring that one down there Brian Edwards his team is struggling throwing the football great read by Bentley the safety on that side of the field pushed to the middle had one-on-one coverage as good as you're going to get it if you're Brian Edwards got to pull that one in [Applause] to South Carolina turn it around to the third down conversion but airily 2 of 10 gotcha Alan they pick him up I thought first down Rico Dowdle Darius West with the coverage Bentley hands it off Donald its flipped par me AJ Turner and that'll bring up second down Russia's ties taking off the clock here this would be the tenth play of the drive for Will Muschamp scene [Applause] [Applause] his option is out of the backfield and Turner picks up three that a big third down coming up [Applause] third medium here q Jake Bentley rest of the games four down territory so you're not thinking I got to get all five I'm see you'd like to but no incompletions no SATs Bentley pressure [Applause] Fortin he's got the first down and he was taken down violently by Chris Oates it's a gain of seven slow to get up there it's a good job no sax right now get outside the pocket make the play it's pot around the neck there time to get a little stinger a little little sharp pain and then journaling kicks in and you're good tell me about it Bently time again whoa Darrius West honey has one pick tonight nearly had his second again this is this combo coverage you can see West right there he looked like he was rolling down into the box so Bentley might have thought he had a window there he backed up red Bentley's eyes and almost picked that one off they're playing West right here as you are oh no I'm terrible on this their plate they're playing West here I said there we go they're playing West heap creeps down the line screws to puck try to play the run and then this safeties backing up Bentley one this is Brian Edwards to the forty Jordan Jones with the stop this is a long sustained although inconsistent South Carolina drive this will be the 18th play of the drive it is eaten up nearly six and a half minutes [Applause] down to scores south carolina go five wide here chips on the outside Bentley scans the entire field comes back to the nearside and it's the first down for Rico download gain of 20 you see Bentley's taken what the defense is giving them had the big play to Devo on what could have been an interception that's a big chunk those yards but really haven't been explosive outside the one-play I mean [Applause] keeping everything in fun [Applause] then to the backwards pass if it is Kentucky has a recovery by DeAndre square now than Taylor jammed at Princeton Devo video shows that the pass was forward therefore [Applause] and that is as close as it's gonna get I mean you see debo catch the ball forward on in front side I mean I Bentley is that what the 28 and a half and I think that fallens up being caught in about the 28 emits literally a half yard that is so close Oh Samuel feet is where the book where leaves and where it is touched and it is at the front of debo saml which also gives you another point of lip you have a great point of reference for Bentley's back foot it's right at the 28th so you know that ball is getting released a little bit behind the 28th and then that you down the line looks like was right at the 20 half yard so South Carolina still has life now yet take a shot second and 10 407 to go this would be the 20th play of this Drive tumbling Gamecocks even in the slide crossing around looking for debo in the corner double coverage it is my coverage he's gonna bring it see those same war [Applause] there's a flag back at the 40-yard line it's another takeaway for the Kentucky defense Derrick baity is the injured Wildcat but Edwards has the third pick of the night for this cat's secondary I think you're on I think Bentley's playing hurt and he's got a bad base right now if you look right before he throws this he kind of he's bouncing a little bit like he can't put weight on that front foot and doesn't really at all I mean you can't blame him trying the return and following the change of team possession personal foul number 74 half the distance to the goal from the spot of the file first half yeah double coverage you can't blame Bentley for throwing and trying to take a shot to debo Samuel your best player but that clearly cannot put any weight on this left foot I mean look at that I mean it surprising he got enough velocity on that ball to get it there as it was but again we come back to it great coverage by Kentucky hey remember last year at the Florida game we got back to our hotel and and we had the observation that this town is ready to party that night you know even Florida's stuck a pin in the balloon just deflated everything I think they're ready to go tonight I'm gonna get after it a little bit tonight rightfully so one thing they know how to do here [Music] 41 years ago this Kentucky program with ten and one undefeated in conference play they were eligible for a bowl that year but they finished the season number six in the country and Mark Stoops has rebuilt this program slowly steadily with some roadblocks and detours here and there but he rebuilt it with size up front and we talked a lot about their offensive line and the biggest difference according to Mark Stoops is that they now have an SEC sized oline yeah SEC size on both sides I mean not only have we talked about bunchy Stallings Drake Jackson the interior this offensive line huh Molly nave and on the other side of the ball Adrian middle tens up 25 pounds defensive tackle from last year Quinton Bell Hanna 340 pounds I mean last year when we did a few Kentucky games we talked to Stoops you know said the biggest difference is watching the end zone film and saying we're just not thick enough you don't have the size upfront let alone the depth they got it on both sides of the ball now that's why I keep saying they're built to compete danny line coach Derek LeBlanc deserves a lot of credit at a group they're playing over their heads they're a good group but the talent level is not what you see across the board in the SEC he's a Pete Jenkins protege a very valuable member of this Kentucky staff yeah I thought early on did that guy I went sharpie on that game with the open to kickoff return yeah credit to Arkansas for staying around put some turnovers for Texas A&M is what allowed that yeah they haven't played clean and the two losses Clemson Bama that's a team that's learning how to close games out against teams that they should be like an Arkansas that was an amazing punt from the Aussie max Duffy a 51-yard er that flipped the field and went from the right hash opposite side opposite of the other hand Michael Scarn ekia has taken over quarterback for South Carolina concerned with Jake Bentley and his health as Garnett kiuic connects with Shai Smith you I mean there's plenty of time not plenty time but there's still an opportunity for South Carolina so to go to Carnegie here those only attempted six passes in his career is an indicator the Bentley's having real mobility issues dropped by doubt old and you talked about value to a team and value to a program for this South Carolina team if they have to move on without Jake Bentley that's going to be a real challenge yeah because that their whole offense is predicated on a quarterback that can make decisions pre and post snap on an elite level changing run to run the past past the past yes that position to do so much scar Nekia delivers on the money senior from Fleming Island Florida [Applause] South Carolina down to scores can Michael scar neck he'll lead them back he completes another pass this is Josh van and van unable to get out of bounds clock will stop for a moment with the first down on a gain of 13 skaar Nekia looks right at home running this up-tempo South Carolina offense they down the middle and short of the first down and the tackle by Darius West of Turner will say though it's not apples to apples Kentucky's in a mode now where they're definitely playing with everything in front of them so those underneath throws will be there they essentially have seven DBS on the field right now Garnett get taken down poles loose looks like South Carolina fell on it after it was forced out it was camper who found it Jamar Watson coming off the edge there with speed [Applause] South Carolina that is their second charge timeout of the half this will be a 30-second timeout please reset the game clock to 102 1:02 Watson's really a linebacker just six three two thirty so sometimes those big offensive lineman off the off the edge or are used to flocking bigger guys yeah those smaller guys sometimes just get underneath your pad level too much speed you're not ready for it that's what happen right there there will be some shifting in the polls this weekend how far can Kentucky climb third and seven star that just rips those loose again and South Carolina falls on it again Josh Allen pumped it out Zack Bailey recovered it at South Carolina not going away just yet but that is a loss of 10 in a time [Applause] their executive game for Josh Allen he said one thing I love about my d-line coach Derek LeBlanc he has helped me perfect my favorite moves speed and rip the speed chop and rip I mean he's so long off the edge he's so athletic so here's the game's connect has got to get rid of it for 2:19 and South Carolina will turn it over on downs Kentucky is going to go to five and all South Carolina looks stunned and I think there's a lot on the cloud of folks in the college football world who are stunned by this Kentucky team Big Blue Nation is for real tough it is to two dominating performances back-to-back in the SEC you can run the football the way Kentucky's able to run the football and be stout and physical on the defensive side of me big blue nations for real this Kentucky defense over three SEC games has allowed a total of 33 points the seven points allowed by Mississippi State last week was a fewest by a ranked team ever against Kentucky and really somewhat of a fluke play was the score here tonight for South Carolina they could have easily gone the other direction for takeaways for this Kentucky defense South Carolina will have to apartment Kentucky have to snap it one more time tough trip for the Gamecocks victory formation again and the cats are five and old Mark Stoops has built a winner here in Lexington he was a long with a lot of bumps in it but they have gotten better each and every season understood suits mark stoops is standing by with cold coach hoops you moved to five I know how does that feel feels great just love our football team the way they approach it the way they've been working and we got a little excited tonight lost their composure and a few few errors they like to see a little plainer execution but I love their attitude in that effort your defense stepped up big tonight you talked about the coverage before the game and what that was going to mean what did you learn about your defense tonight well they play relentless I mean they they play so hard you know we've mixed it up we played short in the run game tonight because of their explosive run game wide receivers and we're able to hold up you know decent in the run coach Binney was big but it wasn't just Benny snow in the run game today why were you able to have so much success on the ground it's just that's our mentality that's who we are our team takes great pride in that and we got a good talented player you know running backs and the old line it's high downs take pride and being physical Thank You coach thank you Tom back to you tonight Cole thanks Kentucky with a 24 to 10 victory we're gonna get you back to the studio but we've got plenty more coverage coming from here at Kroger field Kentucky is undefeated they are five and old let's get you to the studio with dari cheers and doering
