2015 Conker World Championships on Trans World Sport

the rustic glow of autumn has spread across merry old England with a myriad of colors gracing the country's woodlands and landscapes for many the season is tinged with melancholy as the temperatures cool and the nights get longer but autumn also baguettes one of the country's most popular traditional games conquers transworld sport recently headed to Southwark in the English county of Northampton shift for the 50th anniversary of the conquer World Championships the event was established in 1965 when a group of fishermen decided to arrange a game of conkers after their angling match was cancelled due to bad weather it's grown year-on-year with over two hundred registered competitors at this year's competition the rules of the game is simple enough two horse chestnut seeds or conkers are drilled and each hung from the end of a piece of string competitors take it in turn to try and smash their opponents concur with their own in the World Championships they take three alternate strikes across a five-minute head-to-head if both conkers remain intact after five minutes a sudden-death playoff begins where the person with the most successful hits in nine strokes progresses Sinjin Berkut is one of the organizers and it's something which seems to chime from childhood people seem to remember playing conkers when they were when they were children themselves and so a bit daft as neat you know and a dog coming on to play something like this so people ruff previously lots of people wear fancy dress as well so people really get involved in engaging the event the event is formulated as a knockout competition with the men's and women's champion crowned after seven rounds of action new conquers are used for each round they're provided by the event organizers in previous years competitors would bring their own but this was banned after some people began illicitly baking their conquers or soaking them in vinegar to harden them up Sinjin remembers one method that was favored by some of the local farmers grab -
