welcome to research Stadium in Corvallis Oregon badger fans have made the long trek from Madison to the far northwest in oregon state hopes to pull off one of the big upsets of the day in college football 13th ranked Wisconsin and Oregon State and it's right now on Fox Sports Frank bull Jack along with Joel Platt so glad you're with us and Oregon State head coach Mike Riley calls us the biggest non-conference game ever to come to Corvallis and that's because of the strength of the Wisconsin Badgers in the seven seasons now the Bret Bielema has been the head coach for Wisconsin they've averaged 10 wins a season they've got two straight rolls bowl berths + the only Heisman finalist coming back in college football Mont a ball in his 19 starts as a running back for the Badgers he scored 54 touchdowns the most productive back we've seen since Barry Sanders for Oregon State Mike Riley has made a habit of beating ranked teams in fact in the last seven years they've beat nine ranked teams they hope the tenth comes today at home alright a good one ready to go here in Corvallis a big 10 up against the sack 12 Wisconsin and Oregon State a rematch from last year's battle at Camp Randall it's all next a two-knot bucks college football [Music] welcome back Fox college football 13th ranked Wisconsin on the road in Corvallis to take on Oregon State Petros Papadakis will give us a unique look from the field this afternoon Petros Heisman hopeful monta ball brings a lot of hype today to Corvallis that puts a lot of pressure on Oregon State's defense that's right Craig in the strength of this beaver defense is from the outside in and when they have good corners they're a good defense and I got news for you this year they have good corners Rashad Reynolds is solid and Jordan Poyer is one of the country's best an all packed 12th performer that enables mark banker the beaver defensive coordinator to do some things with the safeties inside the run box and stop that Heisman hopeful Monta bog will see all right Petros good matchup today head coaches Mike Riley 12th year his second stop here in Corvallis 72 winds along the way his counterpart across the field Bret Bielema in his seventh season in Wisconsin's Big Ten champs plus the Rose Bowl a year ago too Oregon ten straight bowl games and they're trying to go to an O for the 11th consecutive year in this crowd can they win one today the Beavers of course scheduled to open up the home here last week Joel against Nicholls state but Hurricane Isaac came ashore and that kept Nichols date in Thibodaux Louisiana got to handle the nerves of the first game it's going to be very difficult against the 13th ranked team in the country the Wisconsin Badgers Wisconsin won the toss they chose to receive is the opener for Oregon State week two for Wisconsin no return and Wisconsin will start their first offensive series of the 25-yard line Joel let's look at today's Taco Bell starting lineup offensively for the Badgers Rick Wagner the lone offensive lineman back from the Rose Bowl team of two years ago 2010 by the way the other floor they're all in the NFL Wagner is in Outland Trophy candidate Jared Abbrederis led the team with 933 yards for receiving last season as a walk-on now he's got a scholarship and he's the number one option for quarterback Daniel Bryan [Applause] [Laughter] this time and it goes to his tight end Wozniak picks up his second catch of the year now let's look at it on the defensive side for Oregon State brought to you once again by Taco Bell Scott Crichton just a sophomore beau was a freshman all-american a year ago gets to the quarterback very well been T town boy pay ow missed four games with a knee injury last year best defensive player in the middle and the back end Jordan Poyer one of the best corners in all of the country in fact some services have him rated as high as the number-two corner in the country second down in five after the five yard catch by Wozniak go on the ground and the Beavers come in and drop Monta balled the ground at the 31 yard line Crichton got the first hit want a ball 32 carries last week 120 yards he had to work for that yardage against maybe a surprising northern I look look the rhythm for Wisconsin wasn't there in the second half last week against Northern Iowa they must establish the run early this makes it difficult being in a third and three situation in the backfield ball and James White O'Brien sets his feet up over the tempo nearly intercepted at the 45 yard line Jordan Poyer captain left corner he has a dynamite player for Oregon State Koya read the eyes of o'brien they were trying to run a smash concept high over-the-top short underneath Hoyer just out of his reach good safety help over-the-top making sure that if that ball was complete they were in line for the tackle Oregon State the first strain out of the day the Boyar nearly just intercepted that pass now he's back to return the kick inside his own 30-yard line low snap badges get it away good hi hangar fair catch wait for employers underneath it at the 25-yard line offensively for Oregon State brought to you by Taco Bell Isaac Salem a low one of two to true freshmen sinners that are starting in FBS the other over in Hawaii how does he deal with the big atmosphere being a young true freshman and then in the backend storm woods another young player a redshirt freshman very talented guy they think he can join the line of great Oregon State running backs that have been through here on the last ten and twelve season under center as a six five Sean man and he's a first sophomore at Oregon State to be named a team captain lot of responsibilities on his shoulders he says his beat first down and completes the call and it was Marcus Wheaton the intended receiver Cromartie the corner on coverage and defensively for Wisconsin today's lineups again brought to you by Taco Bell beau al and a huge for stopping the run three hundred and thirty pounds up front and he will be matched up against that true freshman so Malo Chris Borland All Big Ten performer last season as a linebacker had over a hundred and forty tackles always around the ball and in desmond southward he's their youngest and most inexperienced secondary player plot he's the most talented of the bunch in the back end morgan state incomplete on the first throw of the afternoon man he goes back to the air/fuel pressure they have been tipped to the line of scrimmage and it falls incomplete third down and ten for the Beavers there was beau Allen ride away told you it was a for stopping the run but getting in to the interior of the pocket and forcing Sean Mannion to throw that ball before he wanted to forces a long down situation is a perfect opportunity for Wisconsin to dial up a pressure against Sean man you know are you surprised that Mannion of course tried to establish the pass game but last year was all about the ground game less than 87 yards per contest for Oregon State yeah but they threw it 3,300 yards with Sean Mannion very proficient through the air beavers spread the field on third down and short and in good protection throws sidelines first down move the chains first down at the 28 large yard line all the crowd response woods a redshirt freshman had a great talk yesterday with Mike Riley about storm woods he was redshirted because he needed here simply of maturation he has all the skills you need to play the running back position now about him taking it right to jump Chris Borland in the middle of the defense number 44 an outstanding All Big Ten linebacker and the redshirt freshman just puts his hat brightness chest drives ahead second and to number 24 has good hands as well he'll catch the ball out of the back play clock under five down to two it's got the nearside that is a tough pass as you know joke lat random people with the reception knocked out by Cromartie it's old time now for today's key to the game presented to you by Ford for Wisconsin it's continued to win the turnover battle no team in college football has turned the ball over less in the last two years than Wisconsin they've only had 19 turnovers of Oregon State settle in it's the biggest non-conference game in Oregon State history here in Corvallis and it's the first game got to settle in to play well in the first quarter they're doing that on this second Terry Badgers show blitz they got man get big yardage they're gonna mark him out of bounds at the 50-yard line back to Patrick we go an update on USC yeah Craig you mentioned the Trojans ask and you shall receive Matt Barkley Marquis Lee what a start for Lee Trojans on the board at Syracuse seven nothing is the score Craig Joel back to you Thank You Patrick can anyone stop the arm of Barclay why though what they didn't do it the last six games of last season and they're not doing it so far in this season 170 plus yards for Barclays we've done this Hawaii with something picked up right where it left off now against Syracuse second down and one nearly a free play for man stands up in total coverage just a 41-yard line will be Prince the tight end and I'm gonna have to say it but that was a press of a reception I gotta agree with you my goodness he turns around and minion throws in absolute bullying right to the top of his forehead tries to bring it down and gets hit by foreland the wrestling for the ball it comes away Oregon State football and another first down and Sean Mannion has settled into this football game he has started to carve up Wisconsin's defense with the short passing game another mixing the run and the pass home back now is woods on first down at the 40-yard line to pick up a tube bigger one on the way clock rolls up on five minutes soon Petros I would think you're seeing what we're seeing and that's a good mix of play calling by Danny Lankford the offensive coordinator at Annie Lange scarf doing a great job of really getting the short pass of the running back all you have to do is get the ball to Marcus Wheaton he's dangerous in the open field they very much is and I love what Sean Mannion is doing taking what the defense gives they're having a lot of success against some Wisconsin on this series when they're spreading the formation out wisconsin wants to play with two safeties play with two safeties you can run the football on it well storm woods greased him a couple of times that brings the safety down then the Box opens up the outside of the field and Sean Mannion is taking advantage of that free access corner on the outside too wide in Wheaton up top deep drop Mannion boys and then throws it away and complete that brings up second down remember during the lineups I told you there's true freshman center out there and we haven't said his name and because of that he's done a fantastic job I was fully expecting at least one time Isaac Salem all oh and Sean Mannion we're going to have trouble with the snap they have had zero trouble and the protection from the front five have been fantastic he's the son of the organ seat offensive line coach Joe hiya Malo set you down set up a screen it takes a pot but he jumps right back up at the 31 yard line how about the pads popping here in Corvallis on week 2 [Applause] storm was the redshirt freshman Johnson comes up from the secondary that is a collision right there brings up a crucial situation John man you got to be careful with the football third down man in seven of ten here in the opening quarter 51 you and take it for the shotgun [Applause] 24 yard line first it was Kobe prints now the backup tied in Connor Hamlet with the reception there Wayne offense is going to stay on the field Mike Riley going to go for it gonna make a statement early 13th ranked team in the nation and as he called it Joel the biggest non-conference game to come to Corvallis they're playing like it so far defense has been spectacular fourth and two [Applause] [Music] [Applause] nearly intercepted intercepted at the 25-yard line Timur really brought pressure on top of Sean Mannion though the Badgers hold impressive drive goal by Oregon State scoreless and Corvallis on Fox [Music] Saturday afternoon for Valles Oregon Wisconsin in town that is interesting because Oregon State has controlled the tempo thus far offensively with 16 plays and really maybe their best offense is to keep that defense fresh their defense has been very good but I'm surprised with the place selection from Wisconsin they've got to establish the well way too much right now Mountain can turn this game around on this series however goes out to James light who lined up in the backfield he'll pick up eight in the backfield a bowl shut down in a hurry Reuben Robinson number 13 the middle linebacker with the stop here comes James white just a downhill zone read there's nowhere to go Oregon State does a tremendous job being gap sound no cut back lane for James White nowhere to go has to run into the teeth of that defense and Oregon State facing another third down situation another opportunity to get off the field on say ball returns he shares snaps with James why [Applause] for the 28th what a hit DJ Wells the Sam linebacker number four put the smack on mate' ball he only weighs 225 pounds DJ Welch and he comes through there what a terrific stop for Oregon State and now this stadium is starting to get behind this club this is a much different team than we saw last year already offensively and defensively showing much more aptitude for things like stopping the run which they weren't able to do a year ago against Wisconsin Meyer set to punt 20 zette to receive third time he's had to live it for a fair catch at the 31 yard line they went to mati ball he came up short needed just the yard the Badgers punt and we're scoreless in Corvallis and here we go again third offensive series at last drive by the Beavers variant very impressive Wisconsin brand 12 offensive plays for only two point nine yards per play meanwhile the other side Oregon State 16 plays 4.8 yards for play a clear game plan establishing itself for Oregon State offensively person ten Oregon State third offensive series 31 yard line quick throw far side a Smithfield [Applause] you blink an eye and you missin it's his speed an easy pitching catch every time that Wisconsin's corners are off John Mandy is just standing up and throwing the football out to his outside wide receiver with a single safety and cooks takes it down down the sidelines after one move how about the electricity from cooks 26 yard reception biggest play of the day for Oregon State 400 yards with the quick outs every single time Wisconsin goes to a one safety look the corners have deep responsibilities that's in my book called free access Sean Mannion is just stepping up and throw into the wide receiver easy gameplan for Oregon State and although it's zero zero all the confidence in momentum on the Beavers side of the field Bret Bielema has to figure out what he needs to do defensively to stop Sean Mannion in this offense [Applause] [Music] shut the second quarter here in Corvallis and Oregon State for the second straight series jewel plant moving the football on Wisconsin second down 35 yard line we can cooks lined up top your screen woods the lone back they hand it off the student hits a pile not much let's go downstairs Petros the emotion in the stadium belongs to Oregon State absolutely it's an electric feeling right now in research stadium in Oregon State as you guys pointed out is controlling this football game wisconsin has had no opportunity to catch any rhythm on offense and here's how you know wisconsin team is in trouble they had second and two and they couldn't get a first down that means the Beavers are controlling this game but they need points I think they should have kicked that field goal it's great point P probably should have kicked a field goal with the defensive line own in that line ploy action good protection under thrown by Mannion to the full-back Anderson that brings up fourth down and three now this is almost the exact situation that Mike Riley was in in the first quarter Joel they had a little better field position the last time he went for it they're going to go for it again Mike Riley is keeping his offense on the field second time during the course of this game that Sean Minnie is going to get the snap on fourth down empty backfield step drop close first down at the 30-yard line [Applause] in the house about Kevin Cummings he was going to get the cats cut that football Mannion put that ball right where it had to be out in front and then directly on the numbers allows the receiver to protect himself with that defensive player coming up for the head he did three yards we're gonna see got four lone back his woods as the drive continues on the boot he sets his feet what's one way goes the other and throws it into the Oregon State sideline incomplete Mannion so far Petros very calm collected but yet no points on the board and they've really control this game offensively thus far the Beeb's are doing a great job of attacking the perimeter as joel has been pointing out and wisconsin doesn't quite have an answer for it but they have to ding conduct down the field that fourth down was huge because the Beeb's have dominated the entire first half but so far they got nothing to show for it eleven of 1797 yards for Manning he said six different receivers here in the first half straight back drop throw pocket and he's just taken exactly what the defense gives him a simple curl flat combination the linebacker doesn't go wide with that flat route and he just dumps it right to him on the sidelines a terrific throw hitting him in bounds and a better catch getting his feet down Hamlet now brings up a third and six opportunity for Oregon State Hamill big target six seven puts Manning over a hundred yards and now the eighth play of this Drive at the badger 26 [Applause] incomplete get a wide open receiver at the 20 that would have been close to a first down now fourth down for the Beavers I think you got to kick this and that's what they're gonna do points Mannion is gonna jog off the field I thought he was trying to force this ball into some trap traffic Gilbert did a great job of getting his hand on that football amazing athletic played there but now Oregon State with a chance to finally get on the scoreboard after dominating most of the first half so far romain we'll try the 43 yard field goal attempt he was three of eight a year ago from 40-plus his longest 46 from 43 yards Oregon State on the board in Corvallis [Music] [Applause] 3-nothing Oregon State Trevor Romain 43-yard field goal he's got a teed up of the 35 new college rule this season Joel as they go from the 30 to the 35 yard line and only a 5 yard run for the kickoff team trying to protect or return men Melvin Gordon pause for just a moment came out of the end zone and he'll take it back up to the 16 sixteen yards pitch they spreaded out defensively one yard pickup Ryan Murphy from the free safety spot beautiful they can Patrick told me to draw that up in the playground ran the dirt right there there's no doubt [Applause] I'm sure we got a one here ourselves in Corvallis the amps what's on the we throw by O'Brien and complete and Joel I will say this last year Camp Randall it was a runaway 35-nothing win for Wisconsin here you got to ride the wave of emotion of your hometown crowd Plus last year's Oregon State beaver team very young and inexperienced you're seeing a team that went pains a year ago Mike Riley had that smile on his face yesterday his office he said guys I feel real good about this team this year we wish you could have had that first game but they're playing awfully well Finnegan's Wisconsin Badgers old 4-3 on third down try [Applause] ball stays in the backfield the pocket collapses any slingshots an incomplete brings up fourth down and once again Oregon State holds djay wilts nice first-half bringing the pressure on Danny O'Brien a blitz from his linebacker spot and he keeps contained he got himself too far inside realized it got all the way to the outside and didn't allow Daniel Bryan to get to the edge and get that ball down the field forces to throw away Oregon State's defense has been fantastic today the 5pi hanger Poyer is yet to return when a 31-yard [Applause] you can tell the coaching staff telling them to be smarter than that at least on the side if not in the back and you better be completely square there are two balls on the play both against the return team pushing the back number 56 in the back 28 ten-yard penalty from the spot of the foul first down a little bit more than a push in the back I got a tape but he zeroed in on that clock running up on three minutes left the way this first first half five on the play clock she literally just hit the town [Applause] and that's a concern the exchange the freshman center to Sean Mannion be second down Oregon State dodges a bullet but there's the truth freshman Isaac st. malo having to go against that big badger defensive front see the linebackers locked up and he's having to go all the way over there when a lineman has to reach all the way across one gap that's a very tough snap to get and it takes an experienced Center he's really got to keep his hand back there and allow that quarterback to get the ball the youngster doesn't do that ball ended up on the ground loss of one second down 11 man but he's having yulie taken down at the 31 yard line maybe a yard back on that play Mike Taylor middle linebacker for the weak side backer who was number one in the big tent last year it's when you look at the numbers he possessed and tackles a hundred and fifty at staggering third best in the nation he is foreland and Taylor on the inside they're two linebackers both with over honored 40 tackles Borland in all big 10 performing [Applause] there's a look at man here he's looking to third down and eight his own 32-yard [Applause] weeping took advantage with Kotler Jenny and and beach shelton-johnson the strong safety here's wheaton working against Marcus Cromartie just his own defense did you see that fake to the inside he got the safety to sit that one step finds him a half a step on the outside allows Mannion to cool complete that pass another first down for the Beavers 5th reception for 52 yards for Marcus Wheaton towards the lower back way to the 30-yard line about two plays of 21 the catch and now 17 on the ground by storm would Wisconsin's blitzing their linebackers and that create snow levels in the defense so if you can get past the first level it's off to the races storm woods a nice jump putt gets up to the third level on the safeties another Morgan's name [Applause] chains are moving for or against I'll fix up to timeout Oregon State trying to find their way before half Joel to grab a few more points whether it's in the endzone or off the foot of Romain mark pass tweet from the catch gun out of bounce stops o'clock that brings up third down and short that's too easy defensively corners have to understand the game situation under 40 seconds first downs and out of bound will stop the clock and you just allow them to throw a hitch that's too easy a quarterback and a wide receiver will be able to do that all the way down the field wisconsin has got to adjust their coverage right now [Music] they're down in three thirty two ticks left on the first half black man in the background [Applause] Kevin Cummings put it right up top and Cubby's with the reception but out-of-bounds good coverage from the secondary that's number five Darius Hillary he goes up gets a hand in the face of Cummings who was out of balance anyways Mannion with a pretty accurate throw but Wisconsin again forcing a kick gets itself off the field another field goal try for Oregon State Trevor Romain hit from 43 earlier in this quarter this will be from 40 yards right ash kicks away no good romain misfires from 40 a huge boost for Wisconsin that wasn't even close tries to act at the end like he gets knocked down for a running into the kicker but not even close does about 10 yards wide Oregon State dominates half number lon Joel but comes away with just three points they never created any rhythm for themselves and you got a credit Oregon State because defensively they were flying around stopping the run when those opportunity presented themselves Oregon State's got to be thrilled going into halftime with a 3-0 lead Oregon State will get the football when we start the second half right now the Beavers up by 3 a hard-hitting first half here in Corvallis Oregon Oregon State dominating offensively but yet only a three-point lead for jackandjill Clint welcome back boy interesting storyline here 13th ranked Wisconsin it doesn't look like badger football right now no it doesn't offensively they haven't been able to run the ball and that's been the staple of Bret Bielema and really all the way back to Barry Alvarez when you're talking about Wisconsin so Oregon State doing a heck of a job defensively especially in the middle of their defensive run not allowing Monta Paul to get loose want a ball yards in the first half because sax count against rushing yards Wisconsin only eighteen rush yards yards rush constant badgering offensive line that averages three hundred and twenty pounds a pop against a very small defensive line for Oregon State Oregon States and a heck of a job running to the football and tackling in the open field alright so that brings us to adjustments as we look at the first half stats brought to you by Geico rush yards obviously a big concern for Wisconsin absolutely they've got to get that going in the second half the adjustment for me would be trying to attack the perimeter of the Oregon State defense because the middle has been so stout with that defensive line monta ball it's got to get loose on the outside and then Daniel Bryan's got to get better on third down over six on third down they need those first downs in order to develop continuity through the play calling during the second half here's the quarterback comparison Daniel Bryan Sean Mannion Sean Mannion 177 yards he threw the ball 30 times it's very clear that Wisconsin was going to sell out to stop the run Oregon State was going to allow them to do that take the easy throws on the outside but Daniel Bryan's got to step up transfers from Maryland has two years of eligibility left he's a junior and he needs to step up the former freshman of the year in the ACC needs to have a big hammer Wisconsin here in Corvallis Kyle French is set to kick away from the 35 yard line [Applause] in the end zone it is inside the 15-yard line vetro she had a chance to talk to both coaches I know you just got done talking to Wisconsin what's the feel on that field right now well the field right now is that Bret Bielema feels fortunate to only be down three in this game he wants a better push up the middle from his offense he wants better play on the perimeter from his offense and he wants them to be better on second and third down he feels fortunate though that his defense after 44 plays only down three obviously Mike Riley wants more points should be a great second half guys so here we go we start at the 15 yard line three not the Oregon State third quarter on your Center is Mannion pushes the pile for a tough to to the 17 shelton-johnson Pat Muldoon with the initial hit and losing a hat is woods he'll go to the sideline answer esteem rule change this year Geor to anyone who plays I would just think you know what you just strap it a little bit tighter they used to be just an equipment timeout so mom you adjust the chin strap now you got to come out for a play unless there is a bow and your helmet comes off due to an infraction then you can stay in the game Malcolm Agnew jumps in and you set some fires complete batted down by Wisconsin reaching out was party number 14 the senior out of Mansfield Texas he's got good makeup speed watch out there's a step created and then it's cut down by Cromartie comes over the face of the tight end to bat that ball down very good coverage from Marcus Cromartie the senior from Mansfield Texas Wisconsin adds the nickel back and Hillary it's a passing situation on down at seven pressure from the edge through Lagarde - Marcus Wheaton making his 18th consecutive start for Oregon State and on a big third down Oregon State picks off 18 how about the adjustment by Markus Wien to go back to his back shoulder and catch that ball going down to the ground what a terrific adjustment on the route breaks ball behind him goes down to the ground secures it for the first down into the pile goes Agnew he'll pick up maybe two yards to the 37 they've been so active throwing the football already seven catches on the day for Marcus Wheaton 75 yards an average of just under 11 yards per catch so not all the way down the field but very efficient underneath the number two second down from the eye to midfield Cromartie and that secondary had to come up and make the stop he got into the third level after being nearly taken down right at the line of scrimmage a pickup of 16 well they're going to corner blitz which makes the defense rotate that deepens in the backend rotates 53 has to come out of the box which means one block against Borland in the middle opens up that entire lane for a first down chopped down pregame to speak to the line of scrimmage she'll be second down Agnew has that break ability last season week one Sac State Sacramento State 223 yards and three touchdowns the rest of the season though 56 carries for 200 last year against Wisconsin the only average one yard to carry today 18 rushes 82 yards on the ground for over four and a half [Applause] play clock tofu I'm gonna snap he goes the 7-yard line closed first down the chess match being played between the coordinators is always fascinating for me to watch as soon as the run game starts being established by Oregon State Wisconsin commits another defender into that run box Craig allowing one-on-one coverage on the outside Sean Mannion recognizes that and gives Wheaton the ball ride away allows him to exploit the 101 defense 207 yards now for Sean Mannion 12th consecutive game with John before yards Oregon state he once more flies it out to the flat at the 18-yard line [Applause] I want you to watch the block of Marcus Wheaton he's going to get out in front of cooks and get Cromartie to the ground right there just that slight hesitation that Cromartie has to make to back up from Marcus Wheaton a louse cook the running lane to get down inside the 20 yard line back to pass back to back pass plays in 12 and 18 yards and the confidence always snapped by snapper Sean Mannion [Applause] we step drop up top he goes man the shoulder of Marcus Wheaton who clearly has become Mannion's favorite target sweet petro sweeten is getting one-on-one coverage of Mannion wants to exploit it I thought Wheaton ran a great route Mannion just overthrew him on that last play and he had a little room out here to the edge he could have gotten out there the one thing that impresses me joel is very confident I mean he stands up the throws with the best of them he's not afraid tenth play of this Drive check it out 15 on the ground starts inside the 15 roubles Agnew Petros there's that jump cut that we saw from monta ball this time it's Agnew jumps all the way out to the outside to find the crease right now acting to his condom rhythm at tailback and they're bringing him out of the game and bringing in their third down back Jordan Jenkins but Agnew as a guy I thought would be the starter this entire season it turned out to be storm woods he won the job in camp but bad news got the rhythm right now and I like his balance really good balance [Applause] 12 yards above the team set to speak freely [Applause] almost look like a blown assignment [Applause] extra point at Oregon State only five it's Mannion to Brandon cooks Oregon State of 10 on 13th ranked Wisconsin [Music] he's alone back [Applause] for the 10-point lead three minutes to play third quarter want a bowl to the 40-yard line and poppy de and Welch should earn a game ball for the way he's played today well it's been fantastic but Petros Wisconsin has found no ability to find space for Vermont a balla guy who averages 142 yards in his last 19 starts and the haphazard play colleague like it just said has not established want a ball and it's even tougher for the Badgers star wide receiver Jared Africa here's lightweight makin a return for the chess picture again down on the turf at the 35 deejay wallets is all over the field an open field tackle against the Heisman that finalist from the year ago the Beavers are feeling on the sidelines jumping jacks feel the crowds joining in [Applause] gets Wisconsin back to the line of scrimmage plus one Welch made the hit on Duckworth that brings up fourth down for the Badgers and another three and out what a job by the Oregon State defense they have been sensational today against the Heisman finalist from a year ago Vontae ball and Wisconsin now the redshirt freshman of my [Applause] [Music] nice drives himself back to the 10-yard line beautiful putt off the foot of drew Meyer Oregon State fired up in Corvallis but by 10 on 13th ranked Wisconsin final minute every quarter number three [Applause] total yards 323 Oregon State Wisconsin 279 yards for nearly 3/4 of his bill and that man right there mark banker that the offensive coordinator [Music] we can got the ball he went in motion and tried to hit the edge he did picked up let's call it 8 maybe 9 metros you've been around a long time you know Mark banker well and this is one of the great game plans that he's devised in a long time absolutely guys and we set it up in the open Oregon State is going to play defense from the outside in it starts with their two corners and they have been excellent today Rashad Reynolds and of course Jordan Poyer the all pac-12 performer and inside they've blown around and punished them and suffocated bought a ball he's had nothing today Terron ward number 28 in the backfield on second down and two they thought goes and reaches out pass to 26 with this wide receiving core of Oregon State's been very impressive led like simply Bowlby prints in Hamlet Connor Hamlet the tight ends this this offense is taking shape already now this is their first game I understand but we're 15 minutes away from an upset here in Corvallis Oregon state obtain nothing all the momentum they've beat him up physics fifteen minutes of football tent nothing Oregon State first time shut down after three quarters since 2005 it was against Syracuse back in 1997 the last time Wisconsin was shut out in a football game we can get the ball out of the backfield and Badgers saw it coming they knock him down to the 20 color the 21 yard line and he'll lose six yards this is where Sean Mannion has to protect the football 15 minutes to go one quarter left and you're going to upset the number 13 ranked team in the country but mistakes like putting the ball on the ground like what just happened in that exchange will get you beat 254 yards walls really game was over 200 for Sean man [Applause] down at the 31-yard line Metro's give us a feel for what's going on here in quarter number four guys we talked about it the crowd was a little quiet in the first half just three to nothing but now they've come to life and just like Joe talked about they smell an upset but remember Wisconsin has already been in a four quarter game this year may know what it's like and they're going to find out about their quarterback Danny O'Brien that transferred from Maryland right now last week they gave up three touchdowns remember in the second half the Northern Iowa and feel of atoll as they let up some panel they haven't pushed it down today without a bounce as the pressure came on Mannion the content was rolling along pretty good laughs it were then the three touchdowns that were led in the endzone by by the Badger defense to make a close ballgame not to a blow and some blown assignments but the defense today has been very good no miss assignments in fact on third down they've only allowed four of 14 conversions for Oregon State then again we see Oregon State out punting the football back to Wisconsin I snap was costume bunted that ball to the Wisconsin sideline and they're going to mark it out of bounds 40-yard line so good field position for Wisconsin [Applause] longshadow down 10 they start this drive into a pile of orange maybe a yard last-second field goal by Sacramento last week the Buffaloes wide open Duckworth the catch at midfield offensive lines starting to wear out this defensive front those speed rushers Dillon win from de LaSalle high school Scott Brighton speed rushes on the outside bold freshman all-american to get pressure on digging course of this area two turnovers committed by Wisconsin Oregon State territory sets his feet frozen clapping by that would have been his second interception of the afternoon and his should have been and hit him right in the hands watch him read the eyes of O'Brien and jump back into the throwing Lane tries to catch it against his pads and set up into his hands we could have sealed it down [Applause] on the hands want a boy you got to go to it that ball popped free for a moment the concentration he brought it back in and the Badgers continued to push the football down the field I loved the route by number 15 Jeff Duckworth do you see him picked off the defenders man coverage allowing ball to be open receiver set play of this Drive takes the snap fires a dark money to ductwork they're chipping away Joel for five yards of pop he'll be suck it down in five I like the way Wisconsin is going about this because O'Brien does have a sense of urgency you see the tempo there's not a lot of time but it's just a 10-point game take what they give you Bennett's left Ohio good protection good coverage down field flush and completely Pepita relentless pressuring O'Brien Petros this is when it's so important to have those great corners they can cover guys up that can play man-to-man and Oregon State has 'm and Reynolds and as well as Jordan Poyer and Rashad Reynolds has ended up making a lot of tackles because they're trying to pick on him he's doing a great job they're just not even throw whew [Applause] oh snap on the hip of my table able to tip it away is exactly what we've been talking about the ability to cover man man Reynolds step for step with montón de menthe a ball no chance for the completion near the goal put that big vent right [Applause] [Music] this tribe was they need for you the far side [Applause] little shift [Applause] four minutes from an upsetting Corvallis Mike Riley he felt good yesterday it could come to fruition Rashaad rentals shutting down Mont a ball 10 nothing Oregon State [Music] though some streaks that are in jeopardy here Wisconsin 33 straight non-conference wins in 1997 the last time the Badgers shutout it was against Syracuse that's a hundred ninety three games you know some people wondering about the Rose Bowl those non-conference wins are in regular season only Bret Bielema has not bossed a regular season non-conference game [Applause] clock hits 3:15 to play here in quarter number four I'll be against third down for London the middle linebacker eraser stadium 45,000 strong upset minded you bet they are nine wins versus ranked teams Joel over the last seven years by that man Mike Riley a company they got number one USC in that streak they got number two number three USC in a different year fighting the woods he'll get a couple that brings up four down Wisconsin burns a timeout they're down 10 Oregon State will put away with 302 left make sure you stay tuned coming up right after we're done here in Corvallis eight TNT postgame shows Patrick O'Neil Joey Harrington Eddie George we'll be in the studio to recap it the tide rolls side of the foot gets a little bounce up around the 35-yard line as we're Wisconsin down Jen will strike this drive with 255 two plays there are no time outs remaining for the Badgers too should Oregon State need them and now it's the focus the pressure lands on the man who transferred from Maryland Danny O'Brien offensive speak Oh today for Wisconsin side my assets throws up the intended receiver [Applause] [Applause] in a sense defense little bump you push they both look for the ball there's definitely a little contact but DJ Welch in this game that's terrific covers my DJ watch [Applause] slingshots into the merits I'd duck more success they're gonna continue to run the clock did not get out of bounds at the 42 yard line second down three badgers need to hurry 10 to 30 to play [Applause] the money complete and that stops the clock duckworth the catch 221 to play and again the AT&T postgame show straight ahead disappointing starting for Penn State that continues the upset of the day far side Duckworth stumbled that is tackled in the 23 offside defense number 78 10 least inclined second down [Applause] a lot of flags in [Applause] ignore the football [Applause] AJ Jordan the intended receiver I'm surprised that they've stayed with the free access or the deep responsibilities for both corners you've got Rashad Reynolds and Jordan Poyer having to give a lot of cushion belonging Wisconsin to the ball underneath [Applause] who's going to play up ball carries the ball past the 15 to the 11 that the first third down conversion converted by Wisconsin in this football game [Applause] two-possession game [Applause] it gives off completely was shot to play some defense entrapped him up he had to this ball was thrown all the way behind him really poor throw from Daniel Bryan Reynolds had a great chance at this Duckworth turns into the best defender on the field [Applause] in the pocket look into the end zone [Applause] about Daniel Bryan comes back and throws an absolute strike [Applause] [Music] like that [Applause] touchdown badgers because of the tight end Patterson and that long offensive drought comes to an end with 132 play trying to find their best outside offensive weapon Jacob Patterson and they're able to do that right across the middle of the field good field awareness by Patterson [Applause] one after chip shot splits the uprights ended up on sidekick you can bet coming up for Wisconsin down three bucks [Music] one 131 remaining here in the fourth quarter Wisconsin late touchdown quickly a lot of people don't know this there's a rule change in college football if this ball is kicked directly into the ground to promote that high bounce the receiving team will have a chance to make it a fair catch that is a new rule this year a little dribble it gets the 10 yards [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we're gonna peel them off one by one Wisconsin points one way Oregon State the other [Applause] Badger football [Applause] gotta go 10 yards looks like fridge just slid around it wow I've let it play from the kicker that ball had to go ten yards it looks like he did that hook slide around about 11 yards in may have touched his left arm what a great look from our camera crew that ball had to go past the 45 yard line before Wisconsin could touch it and it looked like in that room that last look that the limits are yes it went nine yards and it is under a review in the booth watch Kyle French's left arm when he slides around this ball it's down on the ground right there now Joel when I when you look at this did it go back and that it bounced past and came back did it hit number eight for Oregon stays very tough to tell and and the ruling on the field is Wisconsin balls so they're going to have to have undisputable video evidence to overturn this that's going to be very tough to overturn after review it was determined number 94 the kicking team touched the ball 1:31 left to play in this one it's a 3-point game and out work and save trying to protect the football for Wisconsin and Joan this is of such an interesting ballgame very little off big plays and big decisions of the move the impact the finish and I'm sure will be talked about during the week especially because of that touchdown from Omaha O'Brien dependents in' drawing them within three they had the momentum offensively we got the got the feeling that they were going to at least get themselves into somewhat of a kicking opportunity but it goes the other way upstairs in Oregon State is going to knock off their 10th ranked team [Applause] under my cried blacks fly this big ten the big ten officiating crew has been challenged today led by Mike cannon a game of high stakes offside defense number 53 with contact penalty includes a ten-second run off please set the game clock to 38 seconds ready for play cotton will be at 40 seconds [Applause] Mike Riley he looked confident in his office yesterday talked about it oh yeah absolutely did he feels better now yes Rosie there's no anxiety now but yesterday we sat in his offense and he had that smile on his face he said guys I know where were three nine years more than a heck of a job today as well [Applause] upset in Corvallis [Applause] Mannion led the way [Applause] and a happy Mike Riley on the field with petros Papadakis coach just talk about how gratifying this win was and how tough it was to hang on at the end well that was tough and it was going to get scary there it looked like they had touched the ball early but that was my perspective but a great job by our football team today well you talked to us yesterday you talked about how you felt good about this football team what gave you that confidence you didn't get to play your opener last right you know I just if you can go on what they've been doing you know which is working hard no distractions a lot of good football in practice I think my dish that I've got good sense about this club so we'll just see when keep going what is his speed with the beeps going forward and what does this mean for the program his holy was called to the coming I appreciate Wisconsin coming here we don't get a lot of play until I appreciate come here you know it it's the biggest non league game we've ever had in this stadium highest ranked there was a it was a great deal so we're excited about this obviously relations coaching enjoy tonight takes a lot anguish despair for Wisconsin the Badgers 13th ranked in the country upset on the road at Corvallis elation Mike Riley
