[Music] stop number one for the Bassmaster Elite Series and a 24 year old rookie takes down the best in the world at one of the world's top big bass factories Lake Amistad stop number two the California Delta more monster fish and guess what the rookie won't go away he's locked up at the top with one of the west coasts biggest bass fishing stars ever talking about the duel in the Delta is all boys [Music] it's the Elite Series duel in the Delta presented by Mahindra tractors and the Sun is up the boats aren't cranked up we are underway the final day fourth day of competition championship they stopped number two of the Bassmaster Elite Series this is it the duel in the Delta presented by Mahindra tractors the Delta in question the Phegley California Delta let's take you out to the west coast in the Central Valley of California just east of the bay area where the Sacramento the San Joaquin it all comes together there thousands of miles of dug canals River everything you could possibly want a place like no other to test the best anglers in the world but rules of the game well eight hours of fishing five fish limit each day and the top limit after four days is going to win the $100,000 first prize let's take you back to day number two of this competition appear later big bass of the tournament 11 pounds in two ounces what home by son of the Golden State California's own Aaron Martens he may live in Alabama but he's all California and he's leading this tournament right now I'm actually for day number two in the man who was given chase well one of them anyway his Kevin VanDam top fisherman in the nation before he wasn't feeling like it early in the day on day number two Clark zona he runs into some big-time boat truck Kevin bad day I'm going down the Delta runs into something and his exact words I hit something very very hard but here's the great thing about Kevin VanDam the reason he's here today he went on he was supply to turn the boat and caught what was plenty to power story that's gotten everyone's attention how about the guy the rookie 24 years old comes out wins his first event at this level of the Bassmasters the Minnesota native Derek remnants now residing in Alabama wins a hundred grand on Lake Amistad and comes back and takes over the lead on day number two of this tournament an incredible story and this guy is cool all he is a naughty dirty Wolverine Tommy sander and the great thing that we are gonna see today on the Delta so many guys in our top 12 will we see every week that there's a lot of similar techniques today in the Delta almost everybody is doing something different we've got a solid hour of big bass catchin and top-notch competition on the way as we look at the leaderboard to start this final day what does look like a duel in the Delta it looks like a two-man race between Aaron Martens and Derek remnants the rest of these guys behind can anybody else get the job done well the one thing that you can say about the Delta there are plenty of big bass and no lead is safe all right so we're off and running on the final day mark zona Tommy Sanders here an amazing place a one-of-a-kind place we start here at the Weber point Events Center and after that we go to another planet as far as bass fishing goes a thousand miles of water to look at for these guys know the one word that comes to mind when you're on the Delta we got out on the water for a while is it's intimidating it's overwhelming out there how much water there is and wouldn't you know it as always in an elite series event most of our top guys in the top 12 they have found one magic place right now that place is called Frank's tract and the best way to describe this area it's about a 2,000 acre lake off of the delta very very flat in there there's not a lot of structure only about three to five feet throughout and the best way to put it this is a largemouth bass Haven all right and Aaron Martens our leader going into this final day has spent all three days fishing there and Frank's track and guess what he does right off the bat this final day hardly gets away from the takeoff that's where Aaron Martens is setting up so we got to investigate that get into what his plan is right there right now though let's follow the man in second place a two-man races we start this final day and there's Derek Ribbit's we saw exactly where he's fishing there's no ambiguity about it he's headed to Frank's track you know I just something happened last year drew out in the middle of a season where you know I just been starting to make the right moves the right decisions every time I make a decision I can catch a fish and every time I do that it just keeps building confidence and I'm just fishing really confident right now I think that's the key you know I'd like to say confidence is more more important than anything you know I seems like you could throw this about anything when you're really confident in what you're doing I'm trying to learn every time I go out you know every day on this tournament I've been learning something new and was the same way at amstead and it's just you know all these guys they're pretty knowledgeable they they know what they're doing out here and I'm just starting to catch up with them as far as knowledge so just really a cool experience to be here with them you know catching up to the field was not a big problem last time Alfred Eric Ripert's at our first tournament of the year he catches about a hundred and eleven pounds of bass over four days pretty much laughs in the field now this story of Aaron Martens not going out to Frank's track fishing behind this boat what could he possibly be doing here you know Aaron's got over a four pound average and and he's basically been fishing within sight of bear acremant's every morning up till now this move right here to me he has started off very slow for the first three days in terment this is all about catching a limit right now [Music] he's checking me out defensive mode uh let's say he's that attack here now doing that it's a classic getting a limit a small fish going after the big ones that's alright in a lot of places but here in the Delta with all these big fish can you win that well the area Frank's track that he's been starting in it has been pounded Tommy I think this right here is just a calming move he wants to catch vibe and then upgrade it in Frank's track I think I pull on a power line they say I got one spectator place it's not a black cat and this is the amazing thing about Aaron Martens if I'm Aaron Martens I got a four pound average and I'm in first place I'm going right back to the area that got me there this is the strangest call I have ever seen on a final day catching little guys to fire look at a big one on it well it can be a hard cap to figure out Aaron Martens I mean he's got a great fish in mind and a ton of talent will this decision to stay in catch five smaller and then go big payoff for him Derrick remick's took the lead away from them a little while ago and Martin's gained it back and who else is gaining ground on this final day the Elite Series duel in the Delta is presented by my Android tractors brought to you by Mahindra tractors Advanced Auto Parts mercury marine [Music] and by motor guide [Music] jool in the delta presented by Mahindra track their second stop of the year for the Bassmaster Elite Series there's your leader right there Aaron Martens waving those two big large amounts one of them 11 pounds 2 ounces that was on day number 2 Aaron Martens course our leader in the tournament going into this final day when we've got 12 anglers out there gunning for the $100,000 first prize man in second place Derek remnants the rookie who won the first tournament of the season at Lake Amistad in Texas Limits and Martin's battling it out atop the field right now currently down in 10th place his Steven browning of Arkansas trying to do what he can to get something going the best thing about it is I'm only you know 5 pounds out of third place so you know you got a chance to makes a lot of good points and a lot of money today so you know you have to take that in consideration and hopefully you know we can get going today that we move up the leaderboard just a little bit make a little little extra money and a little extra point even browning another angler who spent most of his week there and Frank's tract what is he finding there what are all these guys finding there well you know the thing I said at the top of the show there's not a lot of structure in Frank's tract it's just a big flat in there you know it's averages three to seven feet of water but it's got tons of cover it's got tons of Tooley's tons of grass clumps and the best way to describe it for our folks back out east you know it's just a gigantic spawning flat the entire Lake is a spawning flat and one a lake you can relate it to it's like a little mini lake okeechobee we call on you to later on in the day they better get bigger so all I can say big let's get time back in the landing zone using my friend easy money easy and open up your your white light Oh jiminy crickets crickets quick quick quick quick quick how about that sports fans hello lair look lady boy it doesn't take long to turn oh sorry morning into a great morning Steven browning they're making a big move all the way up into third place now the guy who started the day in 11th place another one of the big shots from California skeet Reese it seems it's getting hired as all week long I've been looking for this fished up shallow and and there's a group of fish they've been up shallow spawning but for the most part I've been catching a much smaller ones and I finally pulled out yesterday and came out got out a little bit deeper and that's where I found that these females were still staged out and deeper water and he's just piledrive that thing scared the bejesus out of [Music] there's one for the kids [Music] it ain't a giant but it's a start skeet Reese getting things underway here on this final day now over to Kevin VanDam also starting to good ways back of our two leaders but who is Kevin VanDam with a lot of baits tied on he's not fishing Frank's track but what are the general things everyone's having to deal with no matter where they fall a lot of our guys in the top 12 they're really keeping their eye on the tide and the tide on the Delta is everything it actually fluctuates three to four feet during the day it starts falling out at about noon and that's what everybody has said they've caught a lot of fish up till noon but all of their bigger bites have come when that tide is falling out you better be in your best place between noon and 3:00 that's a good one just I gotta get off the grass best thing that's happened all morning for Kevin VanDam for sure a very nice largemouth there that bolts him all the way up into fourth place and now back to our leader Aaron Martin still doing what he started out doing not going out to Frank's track concentrating on catching potentially smaller fish to get that limit going what do you still like in this this boy or not well you know the one thing Aaron may be thinking is that the area that he was in fishing in Frank's track has just gone dry on him for the last two weeks before this tournament that place has sustained a Rancheria beatdown Tommy sander I went in there on day three and there was 30 to 40 boats fishing within 300 yards of air and I looked at a local guy I said man I've never seen this many boats fishing in one area the local guy looked at me said dude this is nothing this is an average day on the Delta in Frank stretch Juden a guy a former angler of the year Aaron Martens have the skills and the knowledge and experience to deal with the situation like that he knows something nobody else does right now you know I picture it out one night that's nothing that's a baby baby right little rats but plentiful rats a limit for Aaron Martens currently at a four and a half pound lead over Derek remnants look back on that decision now what's it looking you know what we both said we question is this decision to start there but right now Aaron Martens call to catch a small limit has been perfect the history of Aaron Martens is a fascinating one a talented talented angler notable for among other things three second-place finishes in the Bassmaster Classic especially this one Pittsburgh 2005 was it his decisions his calls that put him in the bridesmaid position we'll take a look when we come back big day for the Bassmasters final day of competition championship day at the duel on the Delta presented by Mahindra tractors second stop of the year for the Bassmaster Elite Series we got the best in the world out there juking it out and they have found the big bass we started with 109 Pro anglers an equal number of co-anglers third day we found our co-angler champion that would be your Jerry Johnson 49 pounds he picks up a $50,000 prize package got a great battle going on for that first place lot two anglers have separated themselves from the field our leader Aaron Martens and this man Derek remnants Derek limits would Lake Amistad first event of the year picks up a win the 24 year old rookie beats the best in the business I really don't know exactly how tide works this is first time I've ever fished Italian water like I was here guys talking about high tide coming out I'm sure just the water changing water levels has a lot to do with it well like say you know I just completely threw the tide out I mean I played no attention to it it might hurt me today I guess no one exactly what it's doing but it's kind of the game plan coming in it's just not really care and what the tide is I know it's important but yeah that's pretty good it's another fish on there you mentioned earlier this place very Okeechobee like a big bowl what's he keying on certainly there is something that he's looking at and throwing it well we see a lot of guys up against the bank Derek is fishing about 100 yards out from them just cranking a lipless crankbait it he's just not aimlessly throwing it he's looking for high spots on his flat his graph will say four foot four foot boom it'll come up to two there will be a little grass on there that's where he's catching every one of his big ones and his biggest asset right now is his patience Derek remits every fish is key that's another good keeper right there and that draws him within a pound and a half of the leader Aaron Martens currently still languishing under the top six skeet Reese gets a little knot head here [Music] maybe not well not her as I talk you're high right you know William Freud right please yeah I guess I can still keep that one if I had like four eight pounders ago that good math from skeet reset must be the math that Stephen browning is using as well earlier today jumped all the way from tenth place up to third looking to keep that going well I know what I need to do and I ought to do it right now I got I've got this braid on you're not really eating a lot of the fish or hook you know they're not they're not down in them what if I had any good sense I take this braid off and put that monofilament on I got to do that just give me about five minutes I've got to I just feel like I need to what I need to do well forgive me for wondering Stephen Brown and catching fish good feedback moving up the leaderboard why does he want to shut down the show and change lying all of a sudden you know throwing a lipless crankbait on braid you know there's two advantages number one there's no stretch and what can happen is you can hook a six to eight pound bass on a lipless crankbait with braid and you can hog time you can have them in the boat in seconds the second key to it is that braid lets you bring that lipless crankbait back to the boat clean when you get it in grass it'll kind of snap it free okay it kind of enables you to cover water faster than with mono where it's not always following up now one of the advantages of braid where it has no stretch is also a disadvantage and that's what Stephens talking about the bait is kind of tearing out of the fish's mouth where they're not getting the whole bait that's where the mono comes into play these guys are using very soft rods and when you're using mono it has a lot of stretch to it and that's the advantage word will let the bass come up on the bait and completely engulf it's all right back out to browning we'll see if the time out for the line change is worth it [Applause] please give me a chance just give me a chance to put my hands over [Music] Kristen we're cooking with hot butter now huh you reckon we cooking with some hot butter now Jim browning may be thinking of some pancakes as well doing good right now he's smashing those big bass out there meanwhile back to Aaron Martens doing something completely different opting for a smaller limit at a place where he knows he can catch five look back on Aaron Martens career what may be going through his mind as he looks his first win at this level with the Bassmasters straight in the eye well go back to the years 2000 to 2004 and 2005 all three years he's not second-place finishes in the Bassmaster Classic and Aaron's vocal about it he'll look you in the eye and say every one of those second-place finishes is in the back of my mind no here comes Aaron Martens ladies and gentlemen he was your day to leader he needs three pounds and ten houses to make the history book oh it's just gonna be close three pounds history on Aaron Martin if something happened to him on the final day of tournament does he just go a little bit nuttier well you know all obviously I don't know why why he's fishing there I really don't I mean the guy caught a four pound average and another part of the Delta ahead and he's opted to not return right now and if you watch him jumping around the boat I mean the guys as nervous as a cat right now [Music] nerves of steel when I go blank girl wanna go when I go a little better give me those two pounders at least the limit of smaller bass slowly slowly getting upgraded by Aaron Martens and okay now six and a half pounds at ed of Derrick Ribbit's it certainly tells us Derrick grimace is having a tough go of it on this final day of competition can we get it turned around with someone else sneaked in the second place stick around the Bassmaster Elite Series this is our second stop of 2007 the duel and the delta presented by Mahindra tractors we're in the California Delta Central Valley here to Sacramento San Joaquin Rivers lots of big bass and lots of water to fish so far down to the final 12 and it's a two-man race between Erin Marquis and Derek remnants and Aaron Martens we get the upper hand the six and a half pound leap over rim it's so far today a man poised to make a move the angler from Kansas his last win was back in 2005 at the brush shootout at Table Rock Lake let's take a look now at Brent Chapman [Music] good that's a real good one that's a freaking Johnny oh my god oh my god this is what we need right here holy cow yeah holy cow that is a giant right there look at that fish that's the biggest fish I've ever caught in my life look at that kid that's why we're using 25 pound line right there yeah get to trade him for this that's how you go to a big bag in a hurry right there [Music] Oh big fish like that will work wonders for hitaka that one was huge bulks Brent Chapman from eighth place all the way to Fort Kevin VanDam still trying to move his way up that board the deltas so vast you know there's a lot of different areas that you can fish and in practice I had three primary areas that I caught quality fish in a in a pretty small area if you hit it on the right tide when it was dead low you just go down through here and just get bit like crazy yeah there's a good one at work Kevin VanDam starting his day so far behind the leaders there but there's never any quit in a BD we expect him to catch fish right on up till the end now over to Derrick Remy to explain what he was doing in that big flats area with the lipless crankbait a little bit earlier and it looks like he's just found a tick in there along is he getting it into the grass popping it out or just keep it at a plug I'm gonna tell you what he's doing is doing what he did at Lake Amistad he's sticking with what brought him here he fished a football jig the entire tournament Lake Amistad he's doing the exact same thing here today with a lipless crankbait once this kid has confidence in what he's doing he does not change up and you know you look at great rookies that came out of the gates firing that were true phenomenon you think a kvv you think a great hack do you think of years back David Dudley this kid right here really has defied all the ideal you know Tommy last week we started calling them the Wolverine you know whether superheroes from the x-man and what I did here this is amazing stuff yeah let me stop here real quick I broke my stick out you know what I'm not scared right there look at that not good my friend that is you know who else is good Alton Jones as we head to Clear Lake next week he's looking forward to that with the champion their last time the Bassmasters were their big milestone for Alton Jones this week didn't make it to the top 12 but a good finish here in this tournament and with that finish Alton Jones joins the bass Millionaire's Club so congratulations Alton if L knew skeet Reese she said it earlier needs about four really big ones started way back there and still has yet to crack the top six doing what to remnants is doing right with the lipless crankbait and Steven browning remnants browning and ski Reese all fishing in Frank's track with a litmus prank bait the area our leader Aaron Martens has chose not to go too that was a little bigger first a little Big D hello the TGT skeet Reese feeling a little frisky right now and for good reason with that fish that good sleep right there cracks his way into the top 5 final day of competition 12 anglers left in this duel on the Delta in the California Delta Aaron Martens wouldn't be all messed up if they just shut the thing down right now there's some more fish and left to go time is slipping away for guys like Greg Hackney well Aaron Martens retains his plan and go after the big ones all that coming up so stick around now cooking with gas boys [Music] Bassmaster Elite Series for 2007 this is our second stop of the season we're in the Sacramento River Delta the California Delta for the duel in the Delta presented by Mahindra tractors well nameless fishing on this final day but so far it's been a two-man race between Aaron Martens and Derek rivets who's come the farthest since last season let's talk about our Toyota moving forward award the angler most improved since 2006 right now that man is Niantic Connecticut spin Brodeur of ahead of Fred levantus of California Greg Hackney is a guy who started back in the pack today but Greg Hackney has gotten a little something going here they're starting to turn on for the hack attack and he has moved all the way up into seventh place and what about the wombat Texas woking James Mayer he had a horrible tournament i'ma stop and like any good wombat who has been parole office with met flippin stress James Charlesworth an angler from out east James Charlesworth had big high hopes for this season didn't get such a fast start at Lake Amistad but like James Mayer he has really turned it on here at the California Delta and outstanding performance for this rookie as well now back to our leader Aaron Marcus seems like right there done that shoot both sides since I test for most of our hanging hangers snotty fish very much a naughty bass and hey baby Vito are tied really high [Music] Aaron Martin still fishing there in the shadow of the interstate 5 bridge not five minutes from takeoff we thought this would be a short stop here who stretched this all day long go somewhere somewhere an Aaron Martens mind right now he knew that Dave 4 was gonna be a lot tougher than the first three days of this event him and and switching gears and down shifting has proven perfect for Aaron Marcy [Music] that's definitely a help there I make me feel better better fish which is still great keep me back in here and so I get more bites nice fish huh 500 316 pounds Aaron Martin's not a lot of fireworks not a lot of Big Time drama but what he is doing is hanging on to his lead he appears to have made the right decision right now Brent Chapman certainly moved into the right area a little while ago we saw him land that huge huge bass that put him in the top five Brent Chapman's best finished last year a second place on Lake Champlain let's see if he can get one more big one there's a fish oh yeah yes made that's what we're fishing for rich Chapman you wonder if he's still shaken from that huge bass he caught a little bit earlier got him up to fifth place and that fish right there got him all the way up into third place now the man in fifth place is skeet Reese and he looks to have a good one on as well are you thank you pretty good right now nice coal right there what's a nice boat put another two and a half pounds over at skeet Reese's column you looking better and better for weigh-in time Steven Brown and got started catching big fish earlier on today and as the hours move on the tide continues to go out definitely when this tide starts falling you know we talked about it earlier in the show what ends up happening you can be in a prime area throughout the morning and really not catch anything you might get a bite here or a bite there but when that's tide starts falling out what it does it positions these fish perfectly you can go back through those areas and instantly put twenty pounds in the boat stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down stay down don't you do it don't you do it you do it nice nice nice [Music] I'm telling you what now folks this is what last fishing is all about I mean to tell you it is all about these moments right here Steven Browning making some huge headway on this final day his only problem is he started a little too far back to get himself into the lead right now Aaron Martens is that guy so Kundera Crimmins make some last-minute heroics and text Aaron Martens he's got a very short period of time left to do just that and we'll see if he can make it happen when we return retractors this is our second stop of the year for the Bassmaster Elite Series in a great place with great crowds that turnout for our weigh-ins check the people of Stockton California giving it up for Aaron Martens on day number 2 and Aaron Martens has taken that momentum and run with it he's still the man atop the leaderboard a formidable lead now with the hours of fishing dwindling right now over Derek remnants some of the other guys in here how about the milkman Jared Linder another California angler has made a little headway today he had a tough day on day number three he has bounced back in a big way move from ninth up to seventh place Jeff Reynolds of Oklahoma had a tough start in the season over at Lake Amistad where everyone expected he would do very well here in the Delta he was under everyone else's radar but he has made his top 12 that's excellent work right there and he proved the little ways up the leaderboard on this final day and Florida's Chris Lane slapping off press trips all week sitting in ninth place just over 67 5 Aaron Martin still hanging on to that lead don't you say throughout this tournament he's caught 90% of his fish with the drop shot technique and many people say he's the best in the planet with that we need to get deeper into that right definitely and Aaron had the best way to describe it I went out on day three and watched him basically the whole day is how patient he is with the drop shot and he's fishing it in very heavy cover and the one thing that was amazing about Aaron is he never moved his boat more than 50 yards for over five hours and he would take this little Robo worm right here with a 30 second ounce drop shot and just pitch at every read and everything we're gonna go underwater right now Tommy and check this out and what he was doing is dropping on every single Reed head and he told me said there's a lot of fish in here that are running in pairs they're coming in here to spawn and the reason he chose the drop shot is because of how pressured these bats work he would throw it into a reed head keep it in there for minutes and just sit there and shake it and shake it and then all sudden boom a fish would react the negative of how he's fishing he's using very light line when he would hook one to fight all right backing out of Aaron Martens he's pulled the trigger now finally he's leaving his spot he's gonna take that about 20-minute ride all the way out to this place we've been spending so much time in Frank's tracks [Applause] [Music] oh thank you buddy help it's a Razorback chicken - skinny I think I caught one this is killing me I can't get excited you know it's like a no you never know when you're gonna win because these guys will smoke you at the end it just like that's what happen too many times I mean I've been around classics took a hero got really really fortunate for the last like five Cass Aaron Martens these mate has moved to Frank track put in the back of his mind right now there's one person stick in there Derek Reynolds I just got to keep thinking about Leah and I guess I was ready to pull Joe in water up after that cast pretty much how things can get turned around Derek grim it's his big playing card and Amistad was not changing not giving up what he had been doing all tournament long that was his key to victory in here it seems like it could be his key to defeat I don't know if I should stick around or what I guess talk about a rookie getting a wealth of experience his first two tournaments on tour he learned how to put away a tournament the first time around and now he sees how it's possible for him to lose one very easy if that's giving rattle that's pretty impressive over to skeet Reese oh there's not [Music] oh Jesus so we got to move to back [Music] now cooking with gas boys [Music] [Applause] that's a nice cold [Music] I'm warming up now [Music] Oh advance case a Happy Feet therefore skeet Reese should be okay have made himself good little chunk of change right there moving up from sixth all the way to fourth place and now back to markets all right we'll bring your pie kitchen too bro I like their needs let me win this one it used to me I know he's trying but still easy boy [Music] I just wanted way more on here that believe me I just think if I went to term it'll help me I met I just been weird it's like it's been so close so many times we start just gets weird so many tournament sites like with the last day or that it's just a mess up well on the fish and win it I screw I screw up usually or something happens there's no class is how small Pittsburgh pro 2 yes they're getting bigger that's better very nice time but they're getting bigger that's what I'm talking about they're here that's not the baby but don't worry I just drug it out there it just starts swimming I was like whoa you hit baby she said she was like that's what they're doing man that's the tide Aaron Martens just about to pick up his very first win at this level with the Bassmasters his former angler of the year the owner of three second-place finishes in the Bassmaster Classic along with his wife Leslie who welcomed his second child into the world Spencer was born earlier this week everything is coming together for Aaron Martens the crowd is together back in Stockton California we got a huge weigh-in on the way don't you dare miss it [Applause] the Elite Series duel in the Delta is presented by my hundred tractors brought to you by my hundred tractors Toyota Tundra [Music] Florence and by Purolator the crowds are legendary here at Stockton and they have showed up at Weber point Event Center [Applause] the first guy to roll up Florida's Chris Lane pulled up a couple of nice fish for the crowd what do you say ladies and gentlemen Chris Lane out of Winter Haven Florida not good enough to take over the leaf skeet Reese 23 pounds 4 ounces 74 pounds 6 overall looking for an opportunity to move up this leaderboard he takes over the lead and the hot seat speed replay at the top of the food chain then comes Steven browning of Arkansas we saw the kind of day he had Steven Browning's got a little something for you 24 pounds 4 ounces browning is in the lead browning in the Hutt's Steven browning claims the top spot I don't like you anymore browning jarred Lintner still on fire this week but eighteen twelve on the final day puts him in third for the moment KVD Kevin VanDam kvb is a threat every time he's on the water 2311 not good enough to get in the hot seat for KBD either in Greg Hackney he fell down today 13 pounds and 10 ounces then James Charlesworth man what a rough ending to a fine tournament for him I got a little sidetracked I guess and put six in instead of five and then started calling and have you ever done that trip he can't take over the lead either Brent Chapman coming up next for TSA California 22:11 is what you're looking for 20 pounds and 14 ounces Oklahoma's Jeff Reynolds he unwittingly showed the field a little mercy today 13 pounds and 14 ounces next up James nygma just nine 12 still browning on top what do you say California Derrick Brennan eight pounds in 14 ounces out of the lead a small limit that goes 11 11 those room he's got 11 plus and he's gonna get in the hot seat with one man left Aaron Martens only needs 8 pounds 10 ounces to notch his first win at the top level of the Bassmasters became a dad for the second time this week he's back in California can he get it done Wolverine is hunting around the hot seat they're looking for a 30 pound bag today that didn't happen you're looking for 8 pounds and 10 ounces 15 pounds 15 ounces [Applause] for the food chain another page in the history books today for Aaron there is somebody missing that is always here and you know who that is that's my wife Leslie gave birth we had a baby a little early about ten days early enough a little boy Spencer I know she's watching but you know she's happy what good win for Aaron Martens really that was the one credential he's been looking for a win with the Bassmasters at this level it couldn't have come at a better time he and his wife welcoming their second child into the world this week to crowd behind him there on the Delta a perfect win for era definitely Tommy and the one thing I leave this tournament with you know I was on the water with Aaron a lot as far as natural ability goes Aaron is probably the best I've ever watched one of the keys to his victory 30 pounds 10 ounces on day number 2 that is the Berkeley big bag of the tournament next him $10,000 to with that 10 grand added to the victory money he gets into the Millionaire's Club with the Bassmaster very very sweet deal for Aaron Martens let's talk about our Toyota Rookie of the Year race right now Derek rim it's this thing's a runaway of course he won the last time at Amistad great tournament here somebody's gonna have a hard time catching this guy well a race that's not a runaway right now is the tundra angler of the Year race there's our guy the rookie the Wolverine Derek remnants followed by some pretty big guns Kevin VanDam and skeet Reese on his heels that one looks to be good all season long and another thing that looks to be good all season long fantasy no not right now all fantasy bass looks great right now Gary McKenna's man this guy jumped over everyone came up from third place to take the lead here mark zona still struggling just a little bit yeah thanks something I appreciate that Jerry is being investigated right now with some foul play after the California Delta event we will post everybody up at after the story may not be a story there why don't you give us a fantasy sleeper pick for clearly maybe someone don't make it easy someone who doesn't live in California oh I'm in last place Tommy I'm sure everybody at home I am too this doesn't live in California Aaron Martens lives in Alabama now right what now I'm gonna go there and Mars super Dan thing you were dancing with Martin right there I'm gonna hold my pics I'm still working on them right now we will get to that now give us an overall view point for Clear Lake is it gonna be so much different from the Delta we can't stand it well you know everybody said coming into this year that the first three tournaments we're gonna be sight fishing events Amistad Delta and Clear Lake well the temperatures right now at Clear Lake are about 45 degrees the first three tournaments probably zero sight fishing in the top ten alright we're gonna have a big tournament from Clear Lake somebody's going to figure it out we'll have the stars doing it on Clear Lake when we see you next time on the bass man yeah look at that thing holy cow [Music] this has been a presentation of ESPN the worldwide
