I will rearrange my life around my S2000 because the car won't adapt to me so I will adapt to my S2000 I'm a Honda weeaboo I'm a hondao this is a giveaway video but I will talk about the S2000 faults as well as its virtues didn't you already give an S2000 away yeah it was last summer but if YouTube has taught me anything it's taught me this give the people what they want it's the first rule of like a Honda like anything else I'm going 35 M an hour I am turning 1,900 RPM I believe in fifth fourth gear yeah and you just step on the gas it just just does nothing so people are going to get into your car and go I thought these things were fast and they're like not really like why'd you pay all this money for it it's it's all in the details I could have made that in fact I can make that right now okay so it does do Hill PS quite well also this is a cool day so I'm going to go full heat and turn my heat up on my feet Ah that's nice okay here comes a corner and if I oh if I go into it too brave uh okay some protest from the rear tires you hear it just switch over to VTEC I know I did oh what did I just do tried to rev match going up I'm driving a Honda S2000 yeah that's right Honda S2000 yeah that's right I am that one thing you can't get I am that one object of engineering that will not be made again it's this car is made to do one thing live in corners and live above 6,000 RPM and anything else that gets in the way of that experience isn't there to the point of even hiding the radio it's almost like they give a give you a radio in this car reluctantly because it's the one thing they they figured they needed to have or they wouldn't sell in that and air conditioning Hill starts in an S2000 this is something that can trip up a lot of people and also school is letting out this bus going to no nice Hill starts S2000 this guy's waving me slight pullback you have to rev up oops possibly the hardest thing and the thing I don't really like about s2000s is by virtue of how high revving they are they're not the easiest car to pull out you have to rev up to yeah that was 2,000 RPM just to get this thing rolling here we go again I do not have the right of way left turn wait for the cars to go okay I could roll it there at 1,800 RPM now in second gear I can roll it past VTEC here's five there's six and that was nine Back Road time back road time back road time back road time good brakes brakes breakes breakes break and down we go ah which way so many choices [Music] oh yes just more all the time more if you haven't experienced an S2000 it's as good as you think it is I Vape in my sleep I defend Reddit and an agonists with their evil MX5 I fight the MX5 Empire my body Fasteners have Japanese characters on them even though all Hondas have Western numerals on the gear shift no matter the market I put a gear knob on with Japanese characters that way when you don't drive my no one drives my car but me only I I know what gear we're in don't worry I'll tell you what gear we're in and then I'm going to tell you about my Charmander OC he wears a backwards baseball cap and cargo shorts he's got a bulge the size of a watermelon he likes hell divers and Weird Al Yankovic and using pool noodles as urethal sounds [Music] [Applause] St which brings me to a question how many tw- seat sports cars that are front engine we'll ignore front mid engine for the time being how many TW seat sports cars are manufactured now in 2024 that also are available in manual transmission there you go you got the Nissan Z that's one the BMW Z4 Supra that's two the Audi R8 which is discontinued but it was recent enough that it's I I say it counts so three Corvette C8 not a stick shift does doesn't count Toyota 86 you know F frsb RZ nope they got back seats doesn't count for this list MX5 that's four Porsche Boxer five and 911 sometimes sometimes a 9911 has back seats sometimes it doesn't so that's six and we're excluding Exotics so that's that's it six six two- seat sports cars made for sale today and then five if you don't count the R8 since technically it's discontinued now and then there's only one that is priced reasonably and that's the MX5 which means the S2000 which ended its production run in 2009 was the only other one and now in 2024 s2000s in decent condition command the same price as a certified pre-owned ND MX5 because the near analog feel of an S2000 is not reproducible there are safety standards which the S2000 wouldn't meet in 2024 the nose is too low there's no tire pressure monitors no side impact airbags no soft bushings for the shifter either you know look at this footage look at it move it's moving around in there people like oh is it broken like no no this is a shifter that goes straight into the transmission the transmission moves a little M moves a little bit and the transmission mounts which means the gear shift that goes right into the transmission is also moving so here it is inside the cabin all no adjustment to the steering wheel we know where the wheel belongs you don't move your seat accordingly I can't hang my arm out the window and you can't drive if you're over 6 ft or if you have a big belly and there are characteristics about the S2000 that are also exclusionary it's not a nice place for passengers first of all there's nothing for a passenger to do there's no there's nowhere for a passenger to put their drink if they have one there's nowhere for them to put their arms cuz they're getting into your personal space over here a passenger in an S2000 just sort of has to sit here and be good and also it's not comfortable for a passenger it's tight bounces around if you look underneath an S2000 you get one of these things on on on a lift and you look at the the chassis and the suspension they're like this is almost a race car this isn't built for Comfort even getting to the your only in car storage there's no glove box under here even this is that's it how did this come out this isn't part of the car this this has lines in it someone 3D printed this uh um oh it goes in they made it to go in between the lock bit like there a bit like this I want to feel like you wanted me to know that you care spare no expense people will pay for it yes I know there's some parts spin stuff in here but this is the F20 with a hood that goes like this oh hey look at that I know this is like I'm not hurting it it's an aluminum Hood one thing I wish it had here was the service position right well we can fix that right over here get some trekking poles a little bit down here F that little bit of this right here in the shock Tower and a real fart oh another one right like that and a little like that yeah no don't want to go down there that's where our brake lines are okay we got some space right there that doesn't work all right trkking pole make it shorter right like that there you go look at that hiking gear works when you're driving an S2000 Honda boys are going to rev at you at you I get it's it's an inter it's a term of endearment but having other people Rev at me I'm un always Unsure how to respond am I supposed to rev back it's sort of like that old man thing I think even Nick Mullen talked about this where old men fake being angry at you on their way to a mild compliment or they do that come here they do that thing to you you come here it's like okay guy in EG Civic you you just revved at me what happens now oh yes we both have cars and we both have Hondas is your car the same as me no you have a commuter car that's fun to drive and I have a car that's fun to drive I will say that this start engine button is stupid this is the very beginning of start because look at this look how show offy and pretentious this is where's my key look at this your key goes there [Music] and thank you yes thank you good you assume and I still do this after driven driving s2000s for you know gosh almost six years I still try to start it and all cars with a push button start put them here some of them put them down here some are here where by fourways are not an S2000 be it's all the way over there by my radio controls that are also there it's sort of like why did they put it over there is it sort of like a weird Lama thing like you're on the way in inside the car so like okay you know it it's funny that crazy taxi is right here and I can talk about this there was a logic of putting your ignition controls over on the side that's closest to the door cuz even if it's mirrored the idea of the Lama start where all the drivers are out of the car and they have to run to their car you know Ford straight up did it on these and like like a first gen Falcons although Mustangs aren't this way the idea is is that when you're running up to your car you open the door with one hand and maybe your keys are also in this hand and as you're jumping into the car your hand goes right there and starts the car all old fours like this they're to like that to to pay homage to their their racing history but you know 911s did that as well also the trunk kind of useless it has a divot hey quarter oh and it's not even a Canadian quarter awesome the trunk itself has this divot in it straight down at the bottom and you think oh that's where a space saer doughnut would go now the space saer Donut's behind this little bulge right here which some people take out and they use it for this is my KY of floor mat why did I put it in this car I'm sure I had a reason so the idea of having an extra divot down here was to give the trunk some sort of usefulness and I'll admit it can hold something and it can hold my camera case but actual luggage will have a difficult time getting in here can I close this will I actually fit in an S2000 trunk where's the key where's the key where's the key that's the key a key where's the key there it is okay does the trunk popper work does the lock work does this okay interesting it's unlocking but it doesn't lock if the trunk is up trunk is open I've also noticed that the roof will not go up unless you're out of gear and not on the clutch okay so so that's manual so no matter what I'm not getting stuck down it goes down I go and my head can I can I close this every time I've done this someone's been nearby that can open it and right now there's no one here ah if I close this and this automatic release doesn't release my friend Greg is literally in the bottom of Baja California right now yeah I just I just got out of the trunk well okay okay if I hold the button down this this opens it get in down down down down that [Music] and head down further key in hand and okay I am now in the trunk of an S2000 and let's try the manual lock right here hey that works cool in here again lost my hat trunk popper hey awesome in a pinch you could have someone ride in the trunk like this [Music] the only thing that really comes close to an S2000 in terms of its surgical feeling of precision the The Sensation that you are in complete control of everything is maybe Honda's own Honda beat and a Honda bead of course has its limitations in the United States it's not Highway friendly uh parts are going while available and the
