2001 Miami Hurricanes vs Washington Highlights

[Music] the hurricane faithful that reason to cheer all year Miami comes off its most impressive win of the season last week a rout of Syracuse produced another Big East title with an offense that could not be stopped and a defense that recorded its third shutout of the year there was reason to smile in the Orange Bowl tonight support a Washington team that ended the streak back in 1994 and last season blemished an otherwise perfect year under the lights of the Orange Bowl with number one in their sights and four national titles already in the books tonight the kings continue their drive for five [Music] a sold-out Orange Bowl tonight as the Huskies come to South Florida in Miami in the Orange Bowl on a beautiful night in late November a very very important game I Thanksgiving feast presented by Siemens continues through our ABC weekend and our matchup to number 11 team in the country against the second ranked Hurricanes of Miami the Hurricanes take the field with the nation's and their first-year head coach looking to become a perfect 10 tonight Brodie group a hurricane fans thinking roses in Pasadena 14 seniors play their final game here tonight including those two big hosses and Washington always a thorn in their side hoping it won't be a thorn that will keep them from Pasadena John and Terry come up man fires down the [Applause] he's got the football top of your his feet he's inside the 10 [Applause] they put Kerry in that backfield airborne and he's in touchdown an effort didn't make it the first time but good second effort by Davenport but Donald Virginia Tech's the only team that stand in their way from at least get into that game though she fires Watson with a catch he's out of bounds but he made the gravity [Applause] oh boy the ball is loose it's covered by Washington a little bit of worse disaster than it already was Joe this one and the ball is loose again and this time I am he does have the Google McDougald who's got an interception now has a fumble recovery nice play fake Dorsey straight down the middle and he got it complete inside the five it's first in gold but you used it a little play fake and then you get the full-back down the middle of the field who can catch the ball and go up and make a play an answer hurry there it is quick slant touchdown you called it great Johnson on a slant and your sees thrown another one his third of the night they head single coverage confidence level after playing against this defense here tonight and Lewis going the other way fourth pick of the night Lewis still on his feet ball came loose and it's still Miami's they've covered it picket never even sees him he was just leading from right to left and he should have looked ahead of the receiver just do it out there and Lewis Lewis picks off and Pickett makes the makes the fumble that's the third interception for Lewis back to the 22 yard line now Frank Gore Lord out of the ten for the tailback he'll get the call touchdown standings I'm 58 they did give up a touchdown tonight though that's something they didn't do last week all the other schools the other teams and these defenses to this one yep and he's intercepted a fifth time it's Gerald's got this one the kid get a camera on it we saw him McGahee and McGehee trying to come back from you let's talk about Randy Sherry's I have to tell you here's here's one of the outstanding young coaches he's a defensive coordinator I mean one day down the road he was a young man the way he coaches a team and fills confidence and understands the game will be an excellent head
