$200 vs $12,000 All-Black Everyday Carry Kit

we are back with high low comparing two complete everyday carry kits at two drastically different price points but this time a few items in the upper end are from luxury Brands because I'm curious if luxury is even ever worth it kicking things off with the wallet on the more affordable end we are going with the belroy card sleeve I need to carry seven cards in my day-to-day life here in Toronto so my most frequently used card the business credit card goes in the front a bit of emergency cash tucks in the rear sleeve and my remaining six cards slide into the center pocket with his handy pull tab extractor to EAS access them at any time this is actually the perfect wallet for me hence why I've used it consistently for the past few years although the one I actually use is in this hazelnut colorway stay tuned for a near future video because this along with another item I bought specifically for this video will be a part of a giveaway now heading up to the luxury end we've got this lovely Mal Blanc card holder immediately we can feel a more refined execution the brandmark in resin and polished steel applied on the front and when open we've got their word Mark and made in Germany debossed on to the leather when I say more refined execution there are other indicators like how the Stitch count is so much higher than that of the belroy cart sleeve which in end of itself does not necessarily mean higher quality but the pinpoint accuracy and straight Stitch lines do demonstrate a higher cost in manufacturing and strict quality assurance when opened it's got a single sleeve on the left great for a bit of cash two sleeves on the right for frequently accessed cards while the accordion pocket here can comfortably store seven or eight cards holding for the first time making this video it really does feel elegant in hand something I can maybe see myself using for formal Events maybe but seeing them together there's a more than four times price difference between the two and since I'm completely biased I won't weigh in either way like everything else we'll explore in this video I've link them both down in the description in case you want to check them out for yourself moving on to the key Solution on the affordable side we have got the Night Eyes s Speer number three size whether it's to have your home keys on one end and car keys on the other for scenarios where you've got your family all buckled in and realize you forgot something inside to just detach your house keys without shutting the car off it's one of those weird unicorns where it's affordable with zero sacrifices shooting up to the more expensive end this one is not luxury but definitely much more pricey than the espiner and it's the belroy key cover the most common attractiveness of all key Solutions like this one is that they eliminate jingly in your pockets while offering more structured organization what I love about the key cover specifically is that it's an elegant package that features toolless usage stretch it out get the Anchor Bar through the hole and remove the anchoring ring get your keys in one by one and slip that anchoring ring back on for complete confidence as an added bonus the very strong magnetic closure ensures everything stays Compact and jingle-free and the d-ring enables us to put our car key on or what I personally recommend the eser micro for the same benefits as we chopped up before bringing both solutions back we can see that there's a more than 10x price difference both fantastic Solutions depending on your preferences let's talk pocket knives the more affordable and might come as no surprise the Victorinox Huntsman is what I find to be one of the best options from Victorinox offering an awesome meeting point between tool selection and compact pocketability without being too bulky with all of these tools at your disposal I've said it before and I'll keep saying it regardless of whether or not your work or lifestyle habits benefits from eding a knife a Swiss army knife of any kind is a great thing to have just at the entrance of your home for random tasks or in the glove box of your car and coming in at less than $40 the usefulness and value per cubic inch is incredible but shooting up to the higher end is the Benchmade Osborne a great s30v Steel in a reverse Tonto flat grind dual thumb stud for ease of opening with either hand a confident access lock and this buttery smooth matte black G10 the Osborne is just so damn gorgeous and is definitely a big bump up in virtually every category compared to the primary blade on our Victorinox Huntsman however most people's blade usages are typically nested in opening packages so beefiness one-handed deployment access Lock And s30v Blade steel is obviously Overkill for those applications now bringing back the Huntsman into view you can see we're at a more than 5x Delta between the two as we migrate out of the pocket knife we find ourselves at the flashlights on the functional low end I have chosen the oite i3t Mark I this compact stubby pen form factor packs some really nice surprises especially since it's just $20 with a standard alkaline AAA Battery the two lighting outputs of a soft five lumens suitable for most people's most frequent tasks like looking for something really close that you've dropped nearby and the near 200 Lum high output that can illuminate 200 ft out plenty for things like nighttime dog walks it also has the must have for me for an everyday carry flashlight which is a beam up or in this case a double-sided clip to enable hands-free illumination by clipping to the brim of my cap shooting up to the higher end we bought the Nightcore EDC 27 a really Sleek candy bar form factor while inspiring a ton of confidence with this near tactical build quality I mean to hold it in your hand it's like wo with five output settings we've got to take a look a full press of the small tail switch turns it on at 15 lumens a half press bumps it up to 65 while the next half press ships 200 lumens out the final half press sails an impressive 1,000 lumens out which rounds out the regular long-term operation outputs this larger flush tail switch launches a strobe of 3,000 lumens when pressed and held for distance signaling or self-defense applications now bringing back our budget pick into frame at more than four times the price of the i3t Mark II Oh and like the black belroy card sleeve I mentioned earlier I bought this nightore specifically for this video so I'll be adding to that future giveaway too but moving on let's introduce a brand new category that has never appeared on this Hyo series and it's lighters that many folks do carry daily even non-smokers on the lower end we've got this cool black crackle Zippo with a swapped out butane torch insert Zippos are just so iconic worldwide and I still love seeing that Bradford PA made in USA at the base as a fidget toy and a near indestructible Fire Starter I mean there's really not much left to be desired from a lighter in my opinion and this black crackle version with a fan fantastic hand feel is easily purchasable for less than $20 even on Amazon so if a lighter is something you'd consider to be a part of your EDC I think a Zippo is a no-brainer based on value alone let alone the Heritage and history and speaking of Heritage and history we are definitely going luxury with the St Dupont line 2 in its black lacquer and Palladium finish beyond the history and the made in France pedigree St Dupont lighters are known primarily for one thing the satisfying ping when you open them here let me cut the music and put it up to my mic the problem these things are true luxury with this particular line two with the lacquer and Palladium hovering at over ,000 and I'm pretty scared handling this one for this video because it's obviously not mine I got to say it really is satisfying to open and even to strike with the cylindrical Barrel on the side but the price is just terrifying and even the refills are insane I mean Zippo butane refills are less than $5 a can while these St Dupont ones which are almost 10 times smaller cost more than $20 each so bringing back the Zippo we can see that there is a hilarious 50 times price tag spread between the two moving on we made it to the pens and on the more affordable end for this video I've chosen the Koo sport ballpoint pen it is so satisfying because of its capped compact size and the short one- thread twist to uncap means it's not annoying but inspires all the confidence you need to ensure it's on there in transit I love koo's Design Elements like their octagonal cap how the Caps themselves are adorned with a final featuring their brand Mark even on their most budget friendly plastic pie pieces the one thing I don't like is that their sport models typically do not come with a clip and if you want one they've got to be purchased separately coming in at 8 or9 for color Harmony I have here the AL sport with the AL meaning aluminum which comes in at about $80 while their plastic ones the ones that I personally recommend come in at about 25 but remember to add a clip is another eight shooting up to the expensive end we've got the Sailor Pro gear fountain pen just look at it the black resin is perfect and unscrewing even with the cap removed there's a surprisingly satisfying weight in hand the 21 karat white gold nib is a pretty large part of why the pen is expensive but ignoring the pen for a moment I think my favorite part of sailor's fountain pens are actually their caps at least from an aesthetic point of view I love the font used on the Cap's collar with the word sailor Japan founded 1911 I love the taper of the Cap's shape itself the clip's double stroke detail is beautiful and the clip itself has this perfect amount of resistance where it's not a pain to clip onto anything while providing enough hold to have the confidence that it's it's just not going anywhere and of course my favorite part of all sailor pens is their anchor logo on the final but at about $400 while bringing back the Koo sport at $30 even with a separately purchased clip we are at a 13 times Delta in price yikes next up our wrist watches I wanted to maintain some functional consistency here so we are going with multiple time zone tracking watches on the affordable end we have got to go with the Casio ae200 coming in at just $20 it's a tremendous value but for our theme Here hitting the mode button on the bottom left from the home screen shoots us to the world time screen and then repeatedly pressing the button on the bottom right Cycles through major cities and their respective time zones the nice Windle detail of course is as you cycle through the time zones the atlas gets highlighted Time Zone by time zone we really can't go wrong with casio's period And if you really want my general opinion every single human being should consider the a168 W1 but I digress shooting up to the luxury segment we almost had no choice Rolex GMT Master 2 this is even more terrifying than that St dupa lighter because like that lighter this watch is not mine as a travel watch we have got the GMT hand as well as a rotating 24-hour bezel enabling us to keep track of three different time zones simultaneously if we'd like appearance at finishing is one thing but it's details in hand that really show the difference and dramatic jump when hopping into the luxury segment in wrist watches I mean forget the obvious precision and pedigree of the movement for a moment just the user interface components alone are clearly luxury the bidirectional rotating GMT bezel on the Rolex indexes in a way that clicks so confidently every single Notch over the screw down Crown is buttery smooth and unlike budget watches the crown jumps very confidently and decisively to every single pulled position whether it's for the GMT hand time setting or winding add to that the Precision of the movement the handmade and assembled components the tolerances and quality of the brush finishing and polishing on the case and bracelet once you hold one you instantly feel it however bringing back our lovely Casio ae200 from $20 to $10,000 with our GMT Master 2 we're at a 500 times price difference and we're going to be talking about the primary purpose of a watch to tell the time the Casio wins on accuracy hands down because it's a quartz and not mechanical like the Rolex plus if you happen to visit Japan in 2023 and caught the gadon releases of Casio ring sets you can Flex on them with this but looking at both complete kits is a very sobering experience all of this for $200 compared to a six TX jump for this kit at $12,000 of course the huge bulk of that comes from the watch but even if we remove the watch we are still at a 10x Delta which begs the question is luxury ever worth it even if you can easily afford it that question is actually a lot easier to answer than you think
