had and we are officially debt free today so every one of the tips that I'm sharing with you today I've actually used actually done and I'm actually using them right now I am debt free but I still have my mortgage so I guess technically I'm not dead free so I'm currently working on paying off my mortgage and dwindling everything down and really focusing on that I'm also excited because this video is in partnership with the national debt relief company they are a company that is a plus accredited and they are number one ranked for debt relief companies out there they do an awesome job of currently no longer drowning or stressed out from all of the debts at their experience and as we both know that can be incredibly stressful it can really drain on your marriage you can really drain on your relationship it's not fun at all there's nothing fun about debt no one likes it it's super stressful the national debt relief program is really awesome especially if you're looking to reduce your debt it's even more so recommended for people with over ten thousand dollars worth of debt or unsecured debt such as medical bills the personal loans or credit card debt they will be perfect at helping you out so I'll have all the information listed down below and let's get into my 20 tip my first tip is quit going to malls if you have a mall or a store that you frequently spend a lot of money at quit going in there sometimes I would go into a mall and be like I'm not gonna spend any money today at all I would see something that I loved and I wouldn't buy it but I would continually think about it and then I would eventually buy it avoiding them all all together can save a ton of money tip number two pretending like you are poor whether you don't have a lot of money or you do have a lot of money pretending like you're poor can work for absolutely anyone if you have a little bit of extra money hide it in savings and for ten like you don't have a time my next tip that I have for you is buy everything online I know this may sound a little bit extreme but we buy our groceries our diapers and all of our household products everything that we need to live in function online and they're delivered to our front door and so I'm not tempted to spend extra money in any of these facades and I can also sit down on my bed with a calculator and really calculate how much everything is going to be so it just makes things easier and I end up saving tons of money my next tip that I have for you is buy used when you can we tend to buy things use 90% of the time comes to kids clothes we are always buying used every now and then we'll get a couple staple pieces like shoes or coats or maybe a couple outfits that are new in regards to furniture or bikes and stuff like that you can always pick something up on Craigslist when you get something used it's usually just as good or it just needs a little bit of cleaning and it seriously just as amazing for example you can pick up furniture for like ten dollars at Goodwill where you go to the furniture store and you spend a thousand dollars on that table it's just mind-blowing and all you need is a little TLC and a little elbow grease so if you need something check used first the next tip I have for you if you were trying to get out of debt sell anything that you have that doesn't have sentimental value that you're not using or you don't need for example we've sold quite a few things some things that I kind of feel bad about in hindsight but now that we are debt-free I feel really really good about it I ended up selling some jewelry that I purchased on my own but I just didn't need I sold all of my designer clothes that to me we're good I consider designers other people would be like oh you know I mean that's not a big deal but to me I sold everything that had a big brand on it I sold all of my Lululemon's I sold all of my coach bags and it was just something about commitment he ended up selling one of his cars his motorcycle and we had the bare basics we weren't selling anything with sentimental value so if somebody had given it to us and it was a gift and it just it it was near and dear to our heart absolutely off limits but when it came to something we weren't using and we knew okay once we're debt-free we can make any purchase that we want my husband did sell some toys but right now he's about to make a really cool purchase for a toy that he's been wanting for a really long time and it's like finally that reward is coming to fruition for him so it's kind of cool to see that play out but when we sold all of that stuff we easily made sixteen thousand dollars like that because we didn't need it and it some people may say well I don't have an extra car lying around or I don't have a coach bagg you would be surprised with some of the stuff that you do have that is of more value than you realize my next tip is do not buy anything for a special occasion and what I mean by this is if you are going to go to a wet it do not buy a dress go and borrow one from a friend or use what you have or just be really creative you're going to be there for just a couple hours in one day it's not going to be a piece used over and over again and last year that person that finds the versatility in it but I would just recommend finding something that you already have being creative or borrowing it from a friend the next tip I have for you is a little extreme but using cash for absolutely everything and cutting up your credit cards I know so many people like to use credit cards as a crutch or oh my gosh when I'm an emergency or a pickle I'm gonna have to have it cuz my car is gonna break down and I'm gonna need it and you play out these scenarios in your head and you justify the reasons why you keep the credit cards around and then you eventually use them again my recommendation is if you are serious hardcore about wanting to get out of debt cut up your credit cards and just use cash for everything because when you're holding that tangible cash you're less likely to buy a lot of things number eight just say no have no problems even if it's a big event maybe somebody's having a big party or it's a clothing party or a Tupperware party and you're gonna go there and you're gonna feel obligated to spend a hundred dollars because you and Sally sue the neighbor did - just say no just say no thank you and don't feel bad about it don't feel guilty just say no get rid of cable and things that you don't need so if there's something that you're spending money on even if it's only ten dollars a month or if it's $20 a month and you're like well that's so little I don't I use it sometimes you're justifying it if you don't use it or if you can do without it cut it it's super easy the next tip that I have for you is if you have any extra money let's say you've got a paycheck or you've got a bonus or you sold something and made some no matter where the extra money comes from throw it at debt throw it at debt before you're attempted to spend it and we would do is is let's say we got a paycheck and it was a big paycheck or it was a good paycheck we would throw at least 85% of that ed debt immediately before we did anything with a lap Dover's obviously you have to plan and budget for bills and things that you need to live but be as aggressive as you can or as it is you're comfortable with with your extra money so I did just talk about being really aggressive with money but this may sound a little contraindicated but it's one of the biggest tips that I can give you have fun money for every month budget fund money because if you don't you're gonna fail me and my husband worked at this debt for such a long time I can't even tell you how long it was it's been frustrating and it's been horrible at times but one of the biggest things that we learned is if we didn't have fun money we would fail there would be so many times where we like okay this month I threw so much money at it so this month I'm gonna blow so much money and it was just like super silly so I would definitely say how whatever your budget is make sure that you have extra fun money maybe it's $200 a month I don't know what your family income is or anything like that so I'm kind of just throwing a number out there but maybe it's $200 a month maybe you split that between your spouse or maybe each of you get $200 a month whatever your financial situation is budget out what you both feel comfortable with for fun money so that you can still enjoy maybe you're going to go buy some decoration pieces that really make you happy even if it's so little or so trivial maybe you're gonna take the whole family out to dinner or whatever you do with your fund money don't feel guilty about it just enjoy it and have fun with it next big tip that I have for you this so helpful is weekly financial workup that's what me and my husband call it and we would do it every single Sunday we still do it but we don't do it every week right now now we do it like bi-weekly but what we would do is sit down we talk about everything that we spent and what our game plan is for this week or this month spending plan and what our what is our goal are we trying to save on emergency fund a large chunk of change are we trying to pay off debt like maybe you are doing right now so we would kind of lay out a game plan and literally talk about this is the money coming in this month and this is what we're gonna do with it and I will say that sometimes that these little work ups they can be redundant but they're super super super important just because you're wrapping your mind around your spending versus your savings and your goal and it's so helpful it makes a huge difference I'm a visual person so it definitely helps me I have to admit my husband may have been annoyed a couple times like girl I'm not sitting down anymore but we did it and it we paid off over eighty thousand dollars worth a debt I had student loans he had student loans we had car loans it was just ridiculous and we were able to win the lit down and the cool part is we were both have a lot of fun by doing it do we make mistakes absolutely and we made mistakes but all in all we were able to tackle it and we got tons of debt paid off and we're still doing a really good job saving and I like that I think that I think saving was really cool I used to be a big fan of playing Monopoly so whenever I think of like my bank account monopoly I'm like I'm saving this of like obviously I'm not buying like houses on boardwalk but it just it feels cool to save and to be smart with your money another thing that me my husband did is we paid cash for our phone we did not buy the newest latest and greatest model you would buy refurbished phones on eBay for less than $100 and let me be honest they weren't always perfect there was some flaws so they weren't perfect all the time but we saved tons of money we weren't paying any phone bills we didn't pay for a $700 phone that we couldn't afford at that time so that's just a tip if that's a route that you want to go I will admit there are some times we would get a phone and they weren't the best condition and we would either have to return it or we'd have to get a new refurbished phone it can save lots of money especially if you're in a pickle my next tip is to negotiate rates for internet for your phone bill for cable for anything that you can think about negotiate try it it doesn't hurt to ask in a lot of times you're gonna get people to go down in price my next tip is to trade in or sell at your car I know this is a huge ego booster I drove around in a really nice car a car that I actually couldn't afford for quite a while and it sucked when I finally bit the bullet I told my husband I was like I'm sick of dead I got so angry at debt that I was like let's sell the car let's just sell it and he's like are you serious like I had a suburban and I loved it and we sold it and we paid off the entire loan of that car right then and there and we bought an old van like it was seriously old school van the inside was just like stains on the carpet it wasn't glorious or glamorous but debt is not glorious or glamorous and we paid we paid cash for this van but it worked perfect it was in great condition it had good bones it didn't have very many miles on it and it worked really well and we would be literally took a huge chunk of our debt out immediately it took like five seconds for me to go to the car dealership and trade it in and get cash right away and pay off that loan it's it your ego at first but then once you start like cruising around in your car you're like you know what I feel better I'm gonna have as much debt I don't have as much weight on my shoulder I'll have as much stress and it feels really good my next tip is to find free entertainment there is free entertainment absolutely everywhere and when you do free entertainment only bring five or 15 dollars whatever your budget is I have no idea what your financial budget is but maybe it's $15 maybe you say okay I'm not gonna bring the cards with me I'm gonna leave the cards in the car and I'm only gonna bring $15 cash I'm gonna bring $5 cash whatever it is because sometimes you go to these free events and there's 500 different ways that you could spend money there's by a unicorn Tao there's soda pop over yours is snacks there's treats there's this and that and then it ends up being like a $70 affair that wasn't supposed to happen it's supposed to be a free event so only bring a small amount of money on the free events and definitely search for the free events go to the park go out on the nature walks and just try your best not to bring any money with you or a small amount of cash when you go my next tip is to get rid of any gym memberships or any memberships that you have they may be you're not using a ton or maybe it's a subscription box that you're like this is cool but I'm okay and I love subscription boxes they are bomb calm and there's so many good ones out there but if you're trying to pay off debt maybe that's not the route that you need to go right now cut them off now and tell yourself that when I am out of debt I can pay I can sign up for all the subscription boxes that I want and I'm gonna enjoy it so much more number 18 tip that I have for you may not sound super classy but a little save you quite a bit of money is read gifting I know I know I definitely sound like a not a very classy lady right now but if you get a bunch of gifts and maybe you hold set aside maybe two small gifts like your birthday or Christmas you get tons and tons and tons of gifts and it's almost excessive and then you have two gifts that you're like hey I'm not super crazy about these but I don't want to go return them instead of returning them and you just hold off and put them in like a gift closet we get them can saved tons and tons of money so anybody watching this that I have maybe given a gift to there's a chance a small chance a very small chance there's a chance it could have been a read gifting gift gifts are one of those weird things that like makes you poor and you you have your gonna do it because you want to show these people how much you love them but at the same time they can make you poor like seriously your mom's birthday your dad's birthday everybody's birthday happens at the same time and you're trying to pay off debt anyways and also you could also do nice gifts that don't cost anything like services I'm gonna clean your car for a week so on and so forth my next tip is getting a side job I am one of those people that I'm not gonna go work for nine-to-five or pick up a part-time just because I have littles so I have to get a little bit creative when it comes to jobs me and my husband were super creative I'm sure you guys have heard about this and other videos in the past but my husband actually used to be a dumpster diver and he would sell all of his finds on eBay and Craigslist and he made almost $50,000 in one year from the dumpster so we were super creative when it came to jobs and it was actually really fun finding these little like hustle jobs if you will I was an ebay online seller and I sold sorry I you know they always say like when you get your knows that you're lying I'm not lying my nose my nose actually itches and I did eBay and I would make about four four to six thousand dollars a month I would go buy all of my clothes at like goodwill I would spend like $300 to $600 on inventory and then I would just plow through it every single month I will have a link to one of my eBay videos because I get eBay questions and emails every single day but I will leave an eBay all my eBay videos listed down below if that's something that you would be interested in and just getting a side house or a side job my house my husband's also flipped cars before buys them on Craigslist and flip them and then he can make like six thousand dollars per car or whatever the money amount is for that vehicle so there's a lot of really cool side jobs where you don't necessarily have to work for the man and you can be creative and work for yourself my last tip number 20 make a list of all of your debt and put it somewhere where you're gonna see it every single day whether that be on the refrigerator wherever that be maybe it's on the mirror in your bathroom and you see it every single day also write a little note on your credit card with a sharpie whether it's a little witty note that you know what it means or whether it literally says don't use me loud and clear also if you want a little bit of help relieving your debt I will have information to the national debt relief down below in the description box they can definitely help you and if you guys like this video and you like these tips give this video a big thumbs up let me know in the comments below some tricks and tips that you do to get rid of your debt and I'll see you in my next video bye guys [Music]
